Janie and Koko made a deal with Simon, a mysterious and powerful vampire who gave them the black crescent security codes in exchange for a promise to kill their leader, Kallial Relly. On their way upstairs with Akai Han and the YMCA, they encountered Meave, an enforcer for an unknown demonic patron. Using her oracular powers, Janie discovered that Meave made a deal with the black crescents to take one of their young hostages to a safe house in manhattan for some unknown purpose. Choosing to let Meave leave, for now, Janie, Koko, Akai, and the YMCA continued upstairs where they accessed the private top floor using the security codes they bargained for. A fight broke out that ended with Koko tumbling into the black crescent private lounge area, where she was immediately pinned to the ground at the feet of their leader.
