hello lovely gorgeous wonderful people of the internet welcome to raw clearance radio now can you hear i'm a little bit um how would i say laryngitis stroke possible covered um so i'm incarcerated in my castle i'm not allowed out i feel like a princess um they're sending i i applied on line yesterday when i first started to feel quite poorly and um the symptoms were you know temperature and a bit breathy actually and i did feel a bit sick so i i messaged online and they're sending uh a delivery of a covered test to my um to my castle uh between 11 and 3. i thought it's quite good isn't it that's quite good delivery but the only thing is i i suppose i have to go out and post it and you're not supposed to go out so you know that's the design flaw there i mean i think really what they should do is um arrive on a motorbike with a swab and a bit james bondi you know all in leathers and um little bits slightly secretive it'd be quite exciting and then come to my door um and they wouldn't need a mask would they because they'd have their helmet on and then stick a thing down my throat and then go off and then within an hour i'd have my result um but that's not how it happens i think uh the postman will leave it outside the door and then i'll have to do it myself and then i'll have to somehow get that to the post office um to the postbox rather um so i don't know i might be able to coax somebody to come and get it but the thing is i've been completely ostracized by my family which is rather rather depressing and they said even if it's a cold they don't want me round but it's not very nice is it i normally go around for supper on a thursday and i've been completely ostracized because i have a lurgy anyway it got me got me thinking actually about um you know some people are ostracized permanently because they have no friends um or they're not well liked um it's difficult isn't it to be liked by everybody all the time but you know there are other things i think when you get a bit older i think it becomes harder to make friends you know you've lost your um the vibrancy that perhaps you had when you were younger in terms of um you know going to the bars and uh you're creating a sort of group of of social uh connections we don't have that when we're old we're not so interested anymore in going out to pubs or clubs or anything like that but it did strike me that for today and yesterday i've had a real taste of isolation and loneliness i mean i really really felt it i felt very um very low actually in in just in terms of that lack of connection and it surprised me because you know it's no different to any day last week where i didn't go out for example but it's a sense of it isn't it it's a sense of belonging and the sense of being part of something and i think the internet does several things for us it can on the one hand help us feel connected but on the other hand in terms of local connections it it deviates from that so what happens is you forget how to connect with people close by you know you start to rely on people who live all over the world or you know especially these if you're on forums and things like that um so just the importance there of connecting locally you could do that on social media too and you know facebook and places like that have kind of local groups and things and it's just worth remembering that you know connecting with people neighbors um people in shops things like that it's quite important if you're in firm of course you can't go out and if you've got covered you can't go out so perhaps just um just a nod there to check that everybody's okay you know um so anyway we're all we're all pretty bad at that sort of thing you know i'm not pretending that i'm particularly good at knocking on my neighbor's...
