Leah was an expert box checker. Highschool done - check, become a police officer - check, be a good citizen and be of service to the community - check. She was ticking boxes and doing all the things you're "supposed" to do in order to be a good citizen. While serving her community felt right, she was still riddled with anxiety and could not let go of the fear of other people's judgement of her.
In a series of events, Leah went working as a police officer in her community to rehabilitating herself after a serious car accident that left her unable to work. But this didn't break her. Her breaking point came in a way that most wouldn't expect, from dead plants that the dog destroyed! The one thing she had nurtured and cared for when all of her identity was gone had been destroyed. It was from this broken space, from her rock bottom, that Leah let go of the person she thought she was, and started to piece herself back together, re-discovering who she truly is.
This is one of my favs. Listen to it all the way to the end. The most gems are in the last 10mins but you need the whole story to see why they're so special. My fav quote of Leah's is "Denial doesn't change what happened. It doesn't take it back. But it does stop you from healing. It does stop you from moving forward.
