Julian Canny is the proud Ringleader of performing arts producer The Comedy Emporium, Creative Producer for Geraldton Fringe Festival Funtavia, and co-founder of a fresh regional arts production company Euphorium. Julian boasts proudly (regardless if you asked him or not) that these endeavours are social enterprises, and they aim to change the way we develop works and communities in regional areas. Julian has a unique background in sales management and continues in the industry as a consultant. Unlike most people in the arts with a background in white collar work he actually enjoys bringing his past experience into the industry; he sees it as a valuable skill that helps convey the importance of creative industries. He is committed to developing a regional arts market comprised of regional producers focused on sustainable industry practices as well as the importance of art in the role of cultural identity.More info: http://thecomedyemporium.com/In this episode:  We talk about the difference in producing in capital cities vs regional areas.  We look at why there is a greater need for more long term engagement between artists and communities, we try to answer the million dollar question of who is your audience and what you should really be doing in regional areas when you take show on tour.
