Hi, I'm Wendy Zuckerman, and you're listening to Science

0:02

Verses. After

0:05

today's episode, we're going to take

0:08

a short break to work on

0:10

new episodes. So that means

0:12

that if there's anything that you want

0:14

us to versus, we would love to

0:16

know. If there's a diet you're wondering

0:18

you should try, or you're worried

0:21

about something and wondering, do I really need

0:23

to stress about this? We want

0:25

to know, what should we make new episodes on?

0:28

So please tell us, you can find

0:30

us on Instagram, science underscore vs, or

0:32

on my TikTok, at Wendy Zuckerman. There's

0:35

also an email, we're going to put all

0:37

the ways to get in touch with us in the show notes.

0:39

So please let us know what you want

0:42

us to versus. Okay, time

0:44

to jump into today's episode. We're

0:47

pitting facts against. It feels

0:49

fucking amazing. Go

0:52

online and you'll hear stories of

0:55

people having the most amazing orgasms.

0:57

So absolutely insane. I cannot

1:01

describe massive multidimensional

1:03

cosmic orgasm like.

1:05

Pretty much instantly he came.

1:10

Fucking Mount Vesuvius. So how are

1:12

they doing this? What buttons are

1:14

they pressing? Well turns

1:17

out, it's just one. The

1:19

male G-spot. It was the best orgasm

1:21

that I've ever had. The

1:23

male G-spot, also called the

1:25

P-spot, because that P stands

1:28

for prostate. The prostate

1:30

comes with a package of being born with

1:32

a penis. And if

1:34

you put, say, a finger around

1:36

two inches inside your butthole, you'll

1:39

reach it. And people say

1:41

that if you do this in just the right way,

1:43

bam, super

1:46

orgasm. Men have a

1:48

prostate and it absolutely promotes an

1:51

orgasm beyond belief. Stimulating your prostate.

1:53

That is some next level of

1:55

pleasure. And if you go

1:57

through your whole life without experiencing that, you just, damn.

2:01

Oh my gosh. Okay,

2:03

that last guy? Oh my gosh,

2:06

guy. That's Dr. Jamin Brambart, a urologist

2:08

at Orlando Health in Florida. We first

2:10

interviewed Jamin a few years ago for

2:12

our episode on blue balls. I'm really

2:14

happy to see that my balls hurt.com

2:17

still brings me to your website. It

2:19

does, but I should buy

2:21

my prostatefeelsgood.com too. What do you think? A

2:24

lot of Jamin's work involves poking around

2:26

the prostate to check for prostate cancer.

2:29

But he told me about this wild case

2:31

study that he found. About a 63 year

2:34

old man that bought a prostate

2:36

massage device and

2:38

felt amazing orgasms. So

2:41

amazing that he became addicted. What?

2:44

And I'm like, hell yeah. Man, this

2:46

would be pretty awesome. I think the device I looked

2:48

up is 89.99. Oh. So

2:52

maybe in the podcast, we can put a little

2:55

affiliate code on Amazon and then you can get

2:57

10%. But seriously, we

2:59

are looking for sponsors. And

3:02

also, what is going on here?

3:06

Prostate induced orgasms that are so good

3:09

you could get addicted to them. Today

3:13

on the show, we are finding out, is the

3:15

prostate truly a key to the best

3:17

orgasms of your life? And

3:21

if you're a sucker like me with no

3:23

prostate, are we really stuck

3:25

with our garden variety orgasms? And

3:28

in this episode, we have pulled

3:30

out all the stops. Because to answer these questions and

3:32

more, we conducted what we think is one of the

3:34

largest surveys in

3:37

the world on this topic. Almost 16,000

3:39

of you responded. That's

3:42

right. Almost 16,000 people. This

3:45

is absolutely bonkers. And then

3:48

we teamed up with sexual health researchers

3:50

at Queen's University in Canada to analyze

3:52

the results. So stick around. Because

3:55

the research is starting to show that we've

3:57

been thinking about it. this

4:00

G-spot in a completely

4:02

arseabout way. When

4:06

it comes to the male G-spot, there's a lot

4:08

of... Massive, multidimensional

4:11

cosmic orgasm. But

4:14

then there's science. And

4:19

a quick note in this episode, if

4:21

we say men or male or women,

4:23

we're talking about cis people and we'll

4:25

say when we're referring to trans and

4:27

gender diverse folks. All right,

4:29

we're going to crack the case of

4:31

the male G-spot just after

4:33

the break. Bottoms up.

5:52

back today on the show, the

5:54

so-called male G-spot. Can

5:56

pressing the prostate, let's say, a

5:58

cheeky finger or dick? up the

6:00

butt, really trigger the

6:03

best, most cosmic orgasms

6:06

of your life. So,

6:08

zooming out here for a moment, it

6:11

turns out that a lot of you

6:13

are trying butt stuff and doing what

6:15

the nerds call receptive anal intercourse, which

6:17

is basically where you put something up

6:19

your butthole for pleasure, whether it's a

6:21

toy, a finger or a dick. In

6:25

our survey, out of almost 16,000 people,

6:28

just under half of you had given

6:30

this kind of thing a go, including

6:32

a ton of straight men, by the way. Now

6:35

our numbers are a little higher than other

6:37

research on this topic, so you're

6:40

either more adventurous, more honest or

6:42

both. But still, the

6:44

general picture shows that this

6:46

is common. And yet, it's

6:49

also high flash. It's

6:53

2024 and we're still

6:55

not talking about anal,

6:57

receptive anal intercourse. Dr. Dan Dix Dane

6:59

is a resident at Mount Sinai Hospital

7:01

in New York. And even when I

7:03

go to the doctor, if anal sex

7:05

ever does come up, it's like they

7:08

whisper, it's like, oh, it's

7:10

like question, question, question, and then they lower

7:12

their voice. It's like, oh my God. It

7:15

is crazy how taboo anal sex

7:17

is. Even, to

7:19

be honest with you, even as I've been doing all

7:21

this research and I'm writing Dan Dix Dane brackets anal

7:24

sex. And I was like, oh my God, is this

7:26

allowed on my work calendar? It is

7:28

so, it's

7:30

so taboo. And because we don't talk

7:32

about it, I would say that this

7:35

is sort of like, what I'm recognising

7:37

is because we don't talk about it,

7:39

it perpetuates the stigma. And sort of

7:41

by saying nothing, you're saying something. So

7:43

today, we're going to say a lot about

7:46

anal. And our first

7:48

question is one that Dan's been diving into.

7:51

And it's this. Why

7:53

can butt stuff feel so

7:55

great? It's the prostate,

7:57

you know, the male G-spot. driving

8:00

these sensations. He's

8:03

actually wondered about this ever since he was

8:05

in college. He remembered this night where he

8:07

was sitting in his dorm room in Maine.

8:09

And, you know, he'd just done some butt

8:12

stuff. I feel like I just

8:14

whatever. And I just

8:16

remember like sitting, like being on my

8:19

bed, like looking up in space, being

8:21

like, is this normal? Like, I enjoyed

8:23

it. Is this normal? Like, why? Like

8:25

how? Like sort

8:27

of these basic questions. And there was like

8:29

googling things and there was nothing. And I

8:31

didn't know who to ask. I

8:34

was completely lost. But

8:36

Dan put these questions to bed for

8:38

more than a decade. That

8:40

was until two things

8:43

happened. So Dan

8:45

grew up to become a doctor

8:47

that specialises in radiation oncology. And

8:50

one day he's talking to a patient

8:52

who had prostate cancer, telling

8:54

him that treatments like radiation and

8:56

surgery might affect his erections. And

9:00

then this patient asks him,

9:04

Well, how does radiation

9:06

impact receptive anal intercourse? And

9:09

I was like, oh my God, this

9:11

patient really stumped me. I was like,

9:13

I don't know. And let me ask

9:15

my attending. They were like, I don't

9:18

know. And my like co-residents were like,

9:20

I don't

9:22

know. Nobody really knew and

9:25

nobody really even knew what direction

9:27

to point me in. And

9:29

then pretty soon after that, this

9:31

prestigious journal was doing a call

9:33

out, asking young academics to

9:35

write about issues, kind

9:37

of like receptive anal intercourse.

9:40

It was actually a colleague of Dan's who saw

9:42

it. He was like, oh my God, Dixie,

9:44

now's your chance. He like screamed in

9:47

the resident room. It's like he saw it on Twitter.

9:49

Dixie, now's your chance. You have to do this. It's

9:51

like this was a sign from above.

9:54

You are so right. So

9:56

Dan goes deep into the research,

9:59

picking up what's strange. of evidence that

10:01

he can from other studies and textbooks

10:03

to find out ultimately, when you look

10:05

at the nerves and structures in our

10:07

body, what can make

10:10

you orgasm from anal? And

10:12

critically, is the prostate

10:14

doing the heavy lifting here? And

10:17

Dan figured that this would then lay

10:19

the groundwork for understanding if you remove

10:21

the prostate in a cancer patient, would

10:24

that ruin the pleasure of bottoming? So

10:27

he starts reading about how the

10:29

prostate is this spongy gland that

10:31

secretes this fluid that goes into

10:33

your semen. And that's actually why,

10:35

if you push on the prostate,

10:37

stuff can ooze out of your

10:39

penis, which is sometimes called milking.

10:42

But when it comes to orgasms, what the

10:44

prostate really has going for it is

10:47

location, location, location. Yes,

10:50

exactly. It's literally surrounded by

10:52

nerves. And these nerves are

10:55

really important to getting you aroused

10:57

and erect. So take,

10:59

for example, the neurovascular bundle. It's

11:01

a bundle of nerves and vessels, yeah.

11:03

And it's literally between the prostate and

11:06

the rectum. And when we push on

11:08

that, it goes to the

11:10

erectile tissues. And that's what causes an

11:12

erection. In sex education, there's a whole plot

11:15

line of one of the characters gets a finger

11:17

up his ass, and he's like, whoa! Yeah,

11:19

exactly. It comes immediately. And before that,

11:21

we had Stifler having the exact same

11:23

experience. Exactly. Oh,

11:25

and quick fact check here. This actually

11:28

happened in the movie Road Trip, when the actor

11:30

was playing a different character. But once

11:33

it's Stifler, always it's Stifler. So what's going

11:35

on there? Exactly. So yeah, so Stifler, that's

11:37

happening to Stifler and in sex education, because

11:39

there's pressure on the nerves that

11:41

are between the prostate and the rectum. And that

11:44

pressure is then going to lead to increased blood flow

11:46

to the penis. Aha. You see,

11:48

the prostate sits at the base of your penis.

11:51

And so putting pressure on that area can stimulate

11:53

the nerves around your willy, ultimately

11:55

encouraging blood flow. blood

12:00

to flow down there and

12:02

voila, erection. We

12:04

also think that pushing on the prostate, say

12:06

with a finger or a dick, can

12:09

stimulate some of those nerves that we

12:11

talked about so that then they send

12:13

these feel-good messages up through your spinal

12:15

cord and to your brain. So

12:18

here's how Dan thinks about it. From

12:20

the like, trusting and pushing the

12:22

prostate, the prostate is a physical thing that

12:24

it might, it's gonna hit these other surrounding

12:26

nerves to also create more pleasure. On

12:29

top of all of this, in our survey

12:31

of you guys, we also

12:33

found this important clue about whether

12:35

the prostate is really kendick here.

12:39

You see, people with prostates said that

12:41

they orgasmed more often from butt stuff

12:43

and also got more pleasure from

12:46

their anal orgasms compared to people

12:48

who don't have prostates. All

12:51

suggesting that, yeah, the

12:53

prostate is special. I

12:56

think it's so special. Is it special? Honestly,

12:58

I would love a necklace with a little

13:01

prostate on it. I think it is very

13:03

special. That's really, truly. But

13:06

before Dan totally committed to his

13:08

prostate necklace purchase, he

13:11

kept going deeper and deeper on this

13:14

and he came across some very

13:16

curious research, including

13:19

this one study by this

13:21

fella. Yeah, it's a little bit

13:23

out there, I'll tell you that. And I've had a

13:25

little bit of some people kind of turning heads when

13:27

I kind of talk about it. The

13:29

guy turning heads here is Dr. Tom

13:31

Gaither, who's a fellow in the Urology

13:34

Department at the University of California, Los

13:36

Angeles. And what's interesting

13:38

about his study is that while when you look

13:40

at the nerves around the prostate, it makes sense

13:43

that it would be a special

13:45

sex button. Tom wanted

13:47

to know, what happens when

13:49

you actually talk to people who like

13:51

anal and find out where

13:54

exactly does it feel good? So

13:57

he and a colleague got 30 people who have

13:59

prostate. and started chatting to them.

14:02

So we asked them, it's like, where do you

14:05

feel these sensations? And we tried to get to

14:07

the nitty-gritty of, like, you know, what does it

14:09

feel like? What can you describe the sensation to

14:11

us? And at first, there was

14:14

a little bit of G-spot chatter. One

14:16

person said, quote, discovering your G-spot

14:18

is like the most amazing thing

14:20

in the world. Another said,

14:22

quote, ever been touched in the prostate?

14:25

Incredible. But

14:27

as these conversations went on, Tom

14:30

noticed something odd. What's

14:32

really funny is that a lot of people have

14:34

no idea where the prostate is. You say, you

14:36

know, oh, do you, like, people are like, oh,

14:39

I enjoy prostate stimulation. It's about five inches in

14:41

there. And I'm like, you know, the prostate, I

14:43

can touch your prostate with my finger. I guarantee

14:45

you that. It's about one or

14:47

two inches in. So

14:49

what they're experiencing is not prostate

14:51

stimulation, right? It's something else. Something

14:54

else. But what? As

14:57

part of the study, Tom also showed them a

15:00

diagram, an anatomy of the tushy. Do you want

15:02

me to share my screen? Yeah, yeah. OK,

15:04

so we showed them this picture and we

15:06

said, OK, so here's where the anus is,

15:08

basically the butthole, right? And then

15:11

moving further up your ass, you'll hit the rectum.

15:13

And here's the bladder and the prostate's

15:15

in front. And while some people did point

15:17

to the prostate and say, yep, that is

15:19

really the spot that does it for me,

15:22

a lot of people were pointing all over

15:24

the butt. It was so interesting because

15:26

what we found was that people

15:28

like different sensations when it comes

15:31

to receptive anal intercourse. It's not

15:33

all the same. And it's not

15:35

all this male G spot? 100 percent

15:37

no. 100 percent no. I

15:39

think the thing that was so shocking for

15:41

me was that the idea that the prostate

15:43

wasn't the G spot for everybody. One

15:48

person said that right at the anus, which is

15:50

before you hit the prostate, quote, that's

15:53

just where I get most of my pleasure from. And

15:56

so anything past that is just useless. Some people

15:59

just want to be honest. the feeling

16:01

of their anal sphincters being stretched as

16:03

relaxing. And then beyond the

16:05

prostate and into the rectum, other people loved

16:07

that feeling. Like, one person said it was...

16:10

Cozy, you know, kind of just like... A lot

16:12

of people said, like, it fits like a hand

16:15

in a glove sort of thing, that it just

16:17

feels like there's this perfect space for that, and,

16:19

you know, they find that pleasurable.

16:22

It's also really interesting to me that

16:24

you said people didn't know where their

16:26

prostate was, because that

16:28

really makes me feel like this would drive

16:30

this narrative. It's all the prostate, because any

16:32

time anyone's getting butt sex, they're like, got

16:35

that prostate, hit it, and you're like, you're

16:37

not hitting it, that's somewhere else. Not at

16:39

all. They realise that it's actually the

16:41

anus that they enjoy, or they enjoy

16:43

that sort of deeper, sort of rectal fullness,

16:46

like way past the prostate, their love

16:48

in that sensation. It's not the prostate

16:50

at all. Tom went

16:52

on to survey almost a thousand

16:54

people with prostates about receptive anal

16:56

intercourse, and again found that loads

16:58

of them said that the anus

17:00

and rectum were erogenous zones. It

17:03

wasn't just about the prostate. And

17:08

as Dan, you know, Dr Dan, I

17:11

want a prostate necklace, Dick Steen, kept

17:13

looking at the anatomy here, he

17:16

was like, of course the

17:18

whole butt region can be erogenous,

17:20

and not just the prostate, because

17:23

remember all of those nerves that

17:26

make the prostate such an exciting

17:28

candidate for G-spot extraordinaire? Well,

17:31

nerves are spread over the

17:33

entire butt region. So

17:35

if you think about the nerves around

17:37

your butt, prostate, and penis, like branches

17:39

of a tree, a ton

17:42

of them have the same trunk. It's

17:44

called the pudendal nerve. To

17:47

me, that's the nerve, like the

17:49

sexual pleasure nerve. There are branches

17:51

of it that innervate the penis,

17:53

but also the anus and

17:56

skin that's surrounding the anus, the

17:58

erectile tissues.
