If

0:00

you're a fan of true crime, the

0:02

generation y podcast is essential

0:04

listening. Hosts Erin and Justin started

0:07

this podcast way back in twenty twelve, in

0:09

order to dissect some of the craziest and most

0:11

notable murders, crimes, and conspiracy

0:13

theories together. And ten years later, they're

0:15

still at it, unraveling a new case every

0:17

week. Aaron and Justin take on infamous

0:20

cases like the evil genius bank robbery,

0:22

and lesser known cases like the one of Kimberly

0:25

Rico, Did she actually kill her

0:27

husband after they took part in murder mystery

0:29

game? Aaron and Justin cover every angle.

0:31

Breaking down theories, diving deep into

0:33

forensic evidence, and interviewing those

0:35

close to the case. Generation Y

0:37

is one of the longest running true crime

0:40

podcasts out there, and there's a reason.

1:05

I

1:06

don't know if you listened to it, Justin, but on

1:08

July eighth, Chandler spoke

1:11

to different news outlets and there's

1:13

actually audio of one of those

1:15

interviews available online, at least one

1:17

that I listen to. he seemed to be

1:19

pleading for anyone to come forward

1:22

and also he sounded somewhat hopeful

1:25

that his parents would be located.

1:27

He said, we'll find them. It's better not

1:29

to listen to the negative theories. There may

1:31

be at a casino. Their phones off, no reception.

1:33

Maybe they're on a boat having some fun with their

1:35

friends. and he had gone around his

1:37

neighborhood and asked, his neighbors

1:40

knocked on doors and said, do you guys

1:42

have security cameras on your house could

1:44

you review the camera footage and

1:46

tell me if you see any cars coming

1:48

and going from my home? And

1:50

he's talking to police.

1:52

I saw some of his interviews with the police,

1:54

and I don't know what the problem

1:57

is, but there is a history

1:59

that Chandler

1:59

had fallen and

2:02

hit his head and had a severe concussion.

2:04

But watching some of these police videos,

2:06

I won't call them interrogation videos because

2:08

he was not being interrogated. This was a

2:10

very casual conversation that

2:12

appeared to be with the investigators

2:15

his stories about

2:18

the day to day stuff

2:20

during the fourth of July weekend

2:22

were very aimless

2:24

And it's just the most benign

2:26

details about the day, and

2:29

then I drove home

2:31

and my girlfriend cat was there,

2:33

and then we went, caught some soda,

2:35

but the police are trying

2:38

to figure out, okay, so where were

2:40

you this weekend? And he's

2:42

giving them stories and his stories are

2:44

matching up. And they're even checking with

2:46

his girlfriend and saying, hey, were you with him?

2:48

The fourth of July weekend and his girlfriend saying,

2:50

yeah, it was. But they're like, when was

2:52

the last time you heard from your parents? And he

2:54

said, my mom texted me on the fourth

2:57

saying that they were there,

2:59

they had to rise safe, and they're gonna go down into

3:01

town for this parade. And

3:03

the detectives were like, okay, cool.

3:05

So the fourth, which was

3:07

Sunday, Will they go

3:09

to that town's website and they find

3:11

that the fourth of July parade was actually

3:13

that Saturday, the third of July.

3:16

So they're thinking maybe his

3:18

mom got the day wrong, but there

3:20

wasn't a parade that day.

3:22

It was the day before. After

3:24

speaking with him, looking around, and

3:27

just getting statements from various people

3:29

that knew Barton Christa, they

3:31

don't believe Chandler, Holder, and has

3:33

been truthful with them. So they

3:35

arrest him on July eight at

3:37

nine thirty in the evening. He was charged

3:39

with providing false information in a missing

3:42

person's case. and they announced this

3:44

too. They said this couple's disappearance

3:46

was suspicious. So what did they

3:48

find, Justin, because as

3:50

part of the search here. They're going

3:52

to search properties. They're going

3:54

to search computers. What

3:57

do they find? Run off the bat when they're searching

3:59

is house. they're looking at that

4:01

fireplace and they're thinking,

4:03

you said that the glass on the fireplace

4:06

was broken when you threw a rock

4:08

or threw a ball with the dog but

4:10

there's more to this. There's something

4:12

wrong with this fireplace. Something had been

4:14

burned in this fireplace. So they're going

4:16

through and they're collecting everything out of the fireplace,

4:19

and then they go out to this property

4:21

where this pool is. They're

4:23

going to get

4:25

his whereabouts and where he was at

4:27

all weekend. And apparently,

4:29

he'd gone to this other property out

4:32

in Dane County. There was a

4:34

pool there that he and his girlfriend were

4:36

swimming at and start searching. And

4:38

they're gonna end up finding human

4:40

remains there. Now,

4:41

Erin this whole time Chandler's

4:44

girlfriend is with him and

4:46

she knows that his parents are missing.

4:48

And apparently, she

4:50

is a true crime fan and

4:52

watches Dateline and all those

4:54

shows. And

4:55

so She knows that

4:58

the police are going to investigate or

5:00

question the last person that was

5:02

with the people that are missing.

5:04

So she starts trying

5:06

to help Chandler thinking,

5:09

if we can prove where you were, then

5:11

you'll be cleared. If we can

5:13

show what's going on, then

5:15

they won't look at you. So she really

5:17

is paying attention that whole weekend

5:19

to what he's doing and even

5:21

taking screenshots of his locations.

5:23

One of those screenshots is in the

5:26

middle of the night at this

5:28

property where this pool is in

5:30

the exact location where his parents

5:32

remains are found.
