Lori Smith, mother, author, and creator of "Beautiful Wounds."

My story is a story of heartache, hope, and healing it is my truth, my journey, and my purpose. At the age of 15, I was a confused young mother with no clue as to the direction my life would turn. I spiraled downward fast, birthed four more children, got involved in an abusive relationship, with no hope for the future. I felt powerless over my situation but with God's grace and mercy I didn't give up. With a strong will and determination I picked myself up off the floor dusted myself off and developed a plan for my life. I went back to school received my GED and then on to pursue my Bachelor's Degree. I was well on my way, the road wasn't easy but I did it. What was once dim and grim became bright and right.  Deep within the core of my soul I knew I wasn't finished, I had more goals to accomplish and more work to do. Writing my autobiography "Beautiful Wounds" proved this to me. The people in my life had empowered me to achieve more and strive for greater and I feel compelled to do the same. Through my writing I found my purpose. I will use my platform to mentor  to other women who have faced similar trials and tribulations. Share your stories and speak your truths. Rise above your situation and move forward, be encouraged!
