Hosting with me today is my partner

1:18

, my ADHD squirrel wrangler

1:20

, my submissive , my brat

1:23

, my little , my pony , or just my

1:26

little pony , aww

1:28

, the duck to my Marty

1:30

, oh my gosh , little bit . This

1:35

is episode number nine , and

1:37

with us today is Liz

1:39

, sir's baby girl , to

1:42

talk to us about Guild

1:44

of Deviated Standards . Guild

1:46

of Deviated Standards , or

1:49

Guild of DS or Gods

1:51

, is a congruous event to previous

1:54

large Denver events , now

1:56

silent . Large Denver

1:58

events , now silent . In

2:03

an attempt to take the community back to its

2:05

core and community values , we're now offering a new invite-only event format

2:07

with a membership cap . By doing

2:09

this , we hope to offer a venue for more

2:11

traditional styles of play . Our

2:14

mission is to provide quality education

2:16

on a variety of topics within

2:18

a safe space to play and experience

2:21

hardcore topics we enjoy , as

2:23

well as bring like-minded people together

2:26

to express themselves and meet others

2:28

. Gods 2024

2:30

will offer Kingsters tools to explore

2:32

sexuality in a safe and supportive

2:34

manner , while maintaining

2:36

a firm grasp on the fundamentals of

2:39

consent . The

2:45

event will feature over 28 classes and many different disciplines taught by

2:47

top-notch presenters bringing their expertise in their chosen areas to our community

2:49

. Several of these presenters have traveled

2:52

all over the world refining and adding

2:54

to their proficiency . Our classes

2:56

will create positive spaces and open discussions

2:58

on all matters relating to sexual

3:00

health , sexual identity and

3:02

sexual expression and safety

3:05

. But before we dive into

3:07

that , first a word

3:10

from our sponsor . Liz

3:16

Sir's Baby Girl is a strong-minded

3:18

person who loves to meet new people

3:20

and socialize often virtual

3:23

only until further notice . With

3:25

the current state of the world , she is looking for people

3:28

to talk to who are positive and creative . There

3:30

is little time for drama and stupidity . Please

3:33

leave the drama elsewhere . She

3:35

loves this community and only hopes to see

3:37

us grow stronger and become more inclusive

3:39

as the future unfolds

3:41

. She was brought into the leather community

3:44

via the incredible gay male bars

3:46

in Denver , colorado , a while ago . In

3:48

this scene she has learned service , community

3:50

and passion for traditions and

3:53

history . She went to

3:55

her first Thunder not long after

3:57

finding the community and

3:59

was in service to that event until it came

4:01

to an end . There

4:03

she learned a great deal about community-mindedness

4:05

and respect . She is forever

4:08

grateful for the opportunity she had

4:10

and the trust that was placed in her throughout

4:12

the years . The last three years

4:14

have been amazing , stressful , frustrating and so rewarding

4:16

. Have been amazing , stressful , frustrating and so rewarding From the moment we

4:18

found out that the previous event could not continue

4:21

. The planning started and the stress

4:23

To be part of such an amazing community to

4:26

give back to the BDSMN communities

4:28

is amazing . She

4:32

is truly grateful and honored to be a part of these next steps and to make sure we

4:34

have a lasting space to offer where people can be free

4:36

to express every aspect

4:38

of themselves without judgment

4:41

or fear . Next

4:43

steps in her journey . She is part of the team creating

4:45

and producing a new large community

4:47

event Guild of Deviated Standards

4:50

2024 . Dates are

4:52

August 1st through 4th . Classes

4:54

and socials start on Thursday , august

4:57

1st . This is a private

4:59

, member-only event with a maximum of

5:01

600 memberships available . If

5:03

you are interested in attending , please

5:05

read through the website guildofdeviatedstandardscom

5:10

and fill out a membership application

5:13

. Thank you for being here

5:16

in the synagogue . Tell

5:18

us a little bit more about the Guild of Deviated

5:21

Standards .

5:24

Thank you for having me . I'm really

5:26

excited to be here . So with

5:28

the Guild of Deviated Standards , our

5:30

focus and our goal is to have

5:33

a space where experienced players can come

5:35

and play and learn and craft

5:37

their skill , learn new skills and

5:40

just be around like-minded people , where

5:43

there's no fear of drama

5:46

or judgment and we

5:48

can be who we want to be and have

5:51

that respect for each other in our

5:53

space and know that

5:55

if we make a mistake , that's okay

5:57

. Somebody's there to pick us up and teach

5:59

us a better way or a new way or

6:02

a way we haven't thought of before , and

6:04

I'm just really excited to be

6:06

a part of it .

6:08

Very cool . So for our listeners

6:10

out there who have never been to an event

6:12

before , what kind of things can

6:15

they expect ? Can they expect

6:18

?

6:19

So for a lot of events , gods

6:21

included , you can expect to

6:24

meet a ton of people , usually

6:27

from

6:29

all over . For our event

6:31

we have

6:34

people coming in from Ireland and the UK

6:36

, canada , other events . You'll meet people from all

6:38

over the country and

6:40

it's just a really fun place to get to know

6:42

other people , maybe learn

6:44

some new things that you didn't even know existed

6:47

. You can expect to

6:49

have some really phenomenal teachers

6:51

, whether they're the ones in

6:53

front of you in the classes presenting

6:55

their expertise or they're

6:57

the ones that you see in the dungeons at night

7:00

playing , and you

7:02

just can meet so

7:05

many , so many wonderful people

7:07

. You can also

7:09

expect family . You I

7:12

know people who've come to events , particularly

7:14

in Denver , and every year it's like coming back to a family reunion because they've met people

7:16

, and ten years later they're coming back to a family reunion

7:18

because they've met people and 10 years later

7:20

they're coming back just to have

7:23

that space with them again .

7:26

Well , I wanted to make sure and get that out of the

7:28

way right at the beginning , because I know

7:31

there are some people out there who would just think it's

7:33

a big weekend , long orgy .

7:38

I think that depends on the event you go to . Some

7:41

events allow sex , some don't

7:44

. It just depends on where you're at

7:46

in the country or in the world . Even

7:49

particularly

8:02

in the hotel rooms , those are private areas . I've seen a little bit in

8:04

the dungeon space . We do allow sex . We ask that it be

8:06

safe and consensual

8:08

and we ask that

8:10

you know people give

8:13

space to those that are engaging

8:15

. But usually we don't have orgies

8:17

in the dungeon I mean that's totally

8:19

fair .

8:21

I know last year , uh , being

8:23

able to attend the event , it was absolutely

8:26

wonderful just to see in

8:29

the dungeon play space area , all

8:31

of the different

8:34

, um , the

8:36

different scenes that were happening and , like all

8:38

the variety of play with

8:41

the equipment that was offered

8:43

and , um

8:45

, yeah , some

8:47

of it was one of those I

8:50

had never seen before um

8:52

, attending variety of play

8:54

spaces . So it made for

8:56

a really nice , really cool , awe-inspiring

8:59

, you know , like this is

9:01

really neat and

9:04

I will say that you

9:07

know it was wonderful of

9:09

just the individuals that were

9:11

there attending , including

9:15

the staff that you all had as part of

9:17

the event of being welcoming and creating

9:19

that safe space and such like that . So is that something that you all had as part of the event of being welcoming and creating that

9:21

safe space and such like that . So is that something

9:23

that you all , you know , try to tend to cultivate

9:26

?

9:28

Yes , I absolutely love

9:31

our volunteer staff . They are

9:33

the backbone

9:35

and heart of any event . It

9:38

takes many people to

9:40

put an event on , especially one of this size

9:42

, and without people

9:45

who are willing to give back to the community

9:47

, who are willing to be in service to the event

9:49

and offer to

9:52

be , you know , that security guy who's just offering

9:54

you a safe space , or the dungeon

9:56

master or dungeon monitor who's

9:58

walking around and making sure everybody is safe

10:00

and inside the place sorry , inside

10:02

the play space . I think volunteers

10:06

are the most

10:08

amazing people I have ever met

10:10

and you know I

10:12

was the volunteer coordinator for a previous

10:14

event for 13 years and just

10:17

getting to know volunteers and cultivating them

10:19

over those years and getting to know their

10:22

stories and why they wanted to volunteer

10:24

and being able

10:26

to help them find a place inside

10:29

the event where they felt like they can fit and

10:31

they were offering something that brought them

10:33

joy , is amazing .

10:36

And I'm guessing that other event was

10:38

Thunder in the Mountains , which was

10:40

referenced in the intro .

10:44

That was yes .

10:47

So what makes the Guild of Deviated

10:49

Standards different from other

10:52

kink events out there , other kink

10:54

cons ?

10:57

I think one of our biggest differences is that we are

11:00

an invite membership only event

11:02

. We

11:05

found along

11:08

the country , but especially here in Denver

11:10

that's my experience that being

11:12

open to walk-in registrations

11:14

and not vetting and things

11:17

leads to a lot of what we call looky-loos

11:19

, where they just kind of want to come in and play

11:21

for the weekend . They don't really care about protocol

11:23

or you know boundaries

11:26

, and

11:30

that led to a lot of problems finding venues and even to

11:32

a lot of membership not coming back because they

11:34

felt unsafe .

11:36

Gotcha .

11:38

Yeah , I think that that makes us different . I think that

11:41

focusing on more experienced

11:43

players and we don't really have a lot of intro

11:46

, much of anything we're

11:49

really trying to focus on those players who

11:51

have been in the community for years and years and

11:53

years and feel like they don't have a home

11:55

anymore , they don't have anywhere to go . We

11:57

want to be that place where they can go and feel

11:59

free to express themselves , like we all did

12:01

when we first started in the scene .

12:04

Gotcha . So for our

12:06

listeners , how

12:09

do they know if they are experienced

12:11

enough for this event or

12:13

if they're too new ?

12:17

So we offer different levels

12:19

of membership . So we

12:21

do allow new people to come . They

12:23

have to be sponsored . So they

12:26

can be sponsored either if they're in state

12:28

. Usually they're sponsored by another member who

12:30

has experience and is coming to the event

12:32

, can kind of take them under their wing

12:34

and help teach

12:36

them the rules , make sure that they understand all

12:39

of the intricacies that you usually find

12:41

in an event space

12:43

. The second way

12:45

to come if you're new is

12:48

to be sponsored by the

12:50

event and what that means is that

12:52

my staff so myself , all of our directors

12:54

, all of our volunteers , myself , all of our directors

12:56

, all of our volunteers we take

12:58

responsibility

13:00

for those people and just

13:02

you

13:07

know we're there to offer them . If they have questions , we're there to offer to guide them

13:10

. We're there to like help them . I know I like to really get to know

13:12

new people and I really

13:14

like to like place them in groups of people like

13:16

hey , guys have similar interests , let

13:18

me introduce you to these really fabulous

13:20

people and that

13:23

kind of helps that new person feel

13:26

more welcome as

13:29

well as it helps those experienced

13:31

players kind of help guide

13:33

that person through the weekend . So we

13:36

are focused on experienced players . We will

13:38

will accept new members , but we do that

13:40

with the caveat of you do need to be sponsored

13:42

.

13:43

And the other thing I saw that I think

13:45

makes you somewhat unique is

13:47

you do cap the attendance

13:50

.

13:52

We do . We

13:54

found that once

13:57

you get over that 600

13:59

mark , it's really hard , no matter how big

14:01

your staff is , to really monitor

14:04

what's going on throughout the hotel at

14:06

all times . And that's where

14:08

events get in trouble , where

14:10

we start seeing posts about you

14:13

know , vanilla violations . We start seeing posts

14:15

about the hotel staff

14:17

being very uncomfortable , people

14:19

approaching non event

14:21

members , whether it's in a hotel restaurant

14:24

or in the lobby or in an elevator , and you

14:26

know , last year we were having an issue with

14:28

people trying

14:30

to walk in and we

14:33

had to explain to those people hey , we don't do that and

14:35

this is why and they understood

14:37

, and some of them have registered to come this year .

14:40

But it's just to guarantee

14:42

that we can always find a venue and a space

14:44

and it's our guarantee to the hotel

14:47

that we know who's coming and

14:49

that we know that they're going to be respectful cool

14:53

well , I was gonna say , because that sounds as

14:55

if you know , hey , you're trying to not only

14:57

, you know , cultivate , um

15:00

, you know , a good working

15:02

relationship with the hotel

15:04

, but you're also trying to cultivate that bridge

15:07

between , you know

15:09

, creating a safe space for us

15:11

kinksters and you know , leather

15:13

folk and such like that , to be at the event

15:16

. And also you

15:18

know , hey , hey , these are our boundaries

15:20

and you know , this is what

15:23

we are trying to make sure that we're

15:25

asked back to the , either the same

15:27

venue or we're still creating . You

15:30

know , we

15:32

may not be able to be at the same hotel , but

15:34

the hotel recommends us to somebody

15:36

else who's like , yes , no , this would also

15:38

be a really good place for you type of thing . It

15:41

does sound like you're trying to create those nice , wonderful

15:43

boundaries and cultivate that relationship

15:45

, that healthy relationship between everything

15:48

absolutely

15:50

it's not an easy line to walk .

15:52

I don't doubt that . I can imagine

15:54

. I mean in the intro

15:56

I think it was three

15:59

years it said you'd been working

16:01

on this and we are heading into

16:03

the second one . I don't think a lot

16:05

of people appreciate how much work

16:08

and time and effort go into events

16:10

like this . They think you just kind

16:12

of show up and everything runs itself .

16:17

I have heard that out here in

16:19

the local community as well , and I've had

16:21

a few directors some of our directors are new

16:23

, last year being the

16:25

first year that they were a part of it and

16:28

even they were saying they didn't

16:30

realize how much work goes into behind

16:32

the scenes just to get something like this

16:34

up and going , and that was before

16:36

we hit our first event last year .

16:40

Well , I mean , there's

16:43

a podcast out

16:45

there called 99% Invisible

16:47

, which the basic theory of

16:49

that , or the idea of that podcast

16:51

is if you do your job right

16:54

, 99% of what you do is invisible

16:56

. So if 99%

16:59

of your stuff was invisible , that means you were doing

17:01

a good job .

17:04

Absolutely , and I tell that to all of our

17:06

, all of our staff . I was like you know , if the

17:08

membership is enjoying themselves and they

17:10

never know that there's a hiccup because

17:12

there's always something If

17:14

they never know there is a hiccup , we have

17:16

all done our jobs and we can take pride

17:18

in the fact that we made this the very best we could

17:20

.

17:21

So what is something you would

17:23

like people to know about

17:26

the planning process , other than

17:28

it gets taken for granted ?

17:33

I would like people to know that

17:35

we

17:37

put in many hours , that

17:45

we put in many hours , I think I work . I work 40 to 50

17:47

hours at my vanilla job every week and

17:49

then I work another 40 to 50 hours doing gods every week . I think

17:51

that people don't realize how much time

17:54

and effort and work and love

17:56

go into creating this

17:58

space and

18:00

we do

18:02

it because we want to give back . Like

18:06

most people until

18:08

now , until this podcast , don't realize who

18:11

, who are the producers . They have an idea , but

18:13

they don't realize that we don't advertise

18:15

ourselves . We don't

18:17

. Our directors don't advertise

18:19

themselves . We do it because we want

18:21

to give back to the community . This is our form

18:24

of volunteering .

18:28

Absolutely , and I think a lot of things

18:30

they just don't think about , like

18:33

insurance and the nuance

18:35

of putting together a schedule

18:37

Just slap those things

18:39

in there and it'll work .

18:41

No , no

18:43

, no , no , no , because you've got to think about who's

18:46

. You know which presenters are flying in what

18:48

day , what time , when are they leaving ? Who

18:50

can we ? You know , this year we

18:52

have a presenter who has to leave Saturday afternoon

18:54

for an event and then come back for

18:57

a personal event . That just came up , and

18:59

so then we had to rearrange the class schedule

19:02

again , and it's a it's a lot

19:04

of work . It's sometimes

19:06

it's like a jigsaw puzzle , which I find very

19:08

enjoyable . I

19:11

don't get to play with the schedule much though that's that's

19:13

my partner's job .

19:16

And who needs what equipment for what class

19:19

and

19:24

who needs what equipment for what class . And you know , if two people need the same

19:26

equipment for a class , can't put them at the same time on

19:30

the plus side , we

19:32

try and carry enough equipment .

19:34

The only thing we can't do is , if you need scaffolding

19:36

, we can't . We can't schedule you in the same time

19:38

frame because we only have scaffolding in one area , but

19:41

we do like we're building

19:43

again . So every year we're building , you know , a

19:45

few more pieces of equipment to

19:47

stick in the space and we

19:50

always try and make sure we have plenty for everybody

19:52

. And we , we , we do different things

19:54

. You know , last year we created

19:57

crosses and new tables . This year we're doing

19:59

more tables and spank benches and

20:01

spank tables , and you

20:03

know so .

20:04

We're always creating new pieces to

20:06

add into what we have and

20:08

to make sure we have enough for everybody I

20:11

mean , when I walked into your dungeon I

20:13

saw pieces of equipment I have not

20:15

seen anywhere else , the scaffolding

20:17

specifically .

20:18

Oh yes , definitely the scaffolding . I was

20:21

like holy cow . Somebody

20:23

was like , yeah , check this out .

20:26

Definitely a lot more than just the standard

20:29

cross and massage

20:33

table that you see some places . Tell

20:35

us about some of those other more unique pieces

20:38

you do have .

20:41

Well , I know we have a

20:43

rack which , so

20:46

we

20:48

like to do a lot of research and we

20:50

always like to make sure our pieces hold up , no matter

20:53

who wants to use them or how many people at

20:55

a time want to use them , sorry and

20:57

so we do a lot of research . So

20:59

, about 15

21:02

years ago we we built a rack

21:05

. Um , this year it might be out of commission

21:07

. We've got to re rebuild the crank

21:09

on it . It got broken last year

21:11

and we haven't had a chance to get a

21:14

welding torch out and

21:16

and fix that . But , um , that's

21:18

a piece I haven't seen in anybody else's space . Um

21:21

, we have several

21:23

different types of crosses . We have , like

21:25

you mentioned , the scaffolding . Um

21:27

, I'm trying to think we

21:30

have so many pieces I don't even know what there

21:32

was a uh , saint andrews cross

21:34

suspended from the scaffolding

21:36

, wasn't there ?

21:37

oh , absolutely , and we ?

21:37

also have a suspending cage . Yeah , that was that goes up on the scaffolding , wasn't there ? Oh , absolutely

21:39

, and we also have a suspending cage , yeah

21:42

that was that goes up on the scaffolding

21:44

is really cool too .

21:45

There was something else

21:48

, and I don't

21:50

know if it was part of your all's equipment

21:52

or if somebody was allowed to bring

21:54

it in . Was it the

21:56

confessional church ?

21:59

oh , that was yes , yes

22:01

, the sisters of perpetual

22:03

. Yes , they brought in the

22:05

confessional last year . I don't know if they're gonna do it again

22:07

this year , but that was amazing .

22:09

I'm like oh my goodness , I just

22:11

absolutely adored that I

22:16

can't wait .

22:17

Honestly , this is this year is gonna be a blast

22:19

. I'm so looking forward to it

22:21

.

22:22

So what is the biggest

22:24

lesson you learned from last

22:27

year , the inaugural year that you're taking

22:29

into this year ?

22:32

It takes a community . We need

22:34

a community to show up to

22:37

make sure this event is successful , honestly

22:40

, like we need membership to show

22:42

up to enjoy themselves

22:44

, to give feedback , to

22:46

like just be there , be

22:48

in the moment . That's how we know if this works

22:50

or not . You know , we can sit

22:53

back all day long and all plan everything

22:55

. We can plan down to the minute and

22:59

in our brains it's wonderful and fantastic

23:01

and it's going to be the best ever . Until

23:03

somebody else shows up and thinks about it in a different

23:06

way and going why didn't you do it that way ?

23:10

and the feedback last year has

23:12

helped build this year's event good

23:15

, I was gonna

23:17

say I I know I just had

23:19

seen lots of positive feedback

23:21

, a few things that I

23:23

think people were not expecting

23:25

, but the

23:28

response from y'all

23:30

and the

23:33

information of thank

23:36

you for this . You know , thank you for this feedback , but

23:38

we weren't trying to cultivate a

23:41

essentially a one-on-one weekend

23:43

. We were trying to cultivate a

23:45

step up , especially for , you

23:48

know , as we talked about those experienced players

23:50

of having that space to

23:52

add and grow and all of that . Um

23:55

, you know , I thought that was handled

23:57

beautifully and with

23:59

wonderful explanation as to

24:01

we are trying to create the space for them

24:03

as well .

24:07

Absolutely . I mean , it

24:10

really is a community space . We

24:12

are trying to make this a

24:14

safe space . I have you know . Talking

24:17

about the feedback , my favorite feedback

24:19

that I got last year brought

24:22

tears to my eyes and I was

24:24

smiling for days was

24:26

from several members

24:29

of the trans community , which

24:31

is always really hard to come out

24:33

and , you know , just

24:37

because of the

24:39

world today , it's always hard to feel safe

24:41

. And adding that

24:43

onto it , last

24:45

year's feedback from that community was

24:48

that they felt so

24:50

welcomed and so safe and

24:52

so included . It was the first

24:54

time they had ever felt they

24:57

could play in the huge plant pan

24:59

space and be

25:02

completely nude and be fine . That's awesome . That's

25:04

very awesome . I

25:06

cried when I first read it and then I smile

25:09

for weeks after and it's still my favorite

25:11

feedback from last year yeah

25:14

, I could totally and completely understand that .

25:20

So let's talk about the

25:23

classes . I know last year

25:25

you had an amazing lineup of presenters

25:28

, everyone

25:31

from Midori to

25:33

John Pendle , the Carney

25:35

, deanna Rama , and

25:37

way down there at the bottom of that list

25:40

was me .

25:42

I wouldn't put you at the bottom of that list ?

25:45

Oh , I would , and I

25:47

consider it an honor to be on that

25:49

list because they were presenters

25:51

of such notoriety and

25:53

high quality . The fact that I was even

25:56

on the list was an honor to me

25:58

. I'm fine with being at the bottom of that list . Believe

26:00

you me , the

26:06

bottom of that list , believe you me . Um , but tell us about who is back this year , who

26:08

is new this year and what kind of classes , uh , we can expect . I'm

26:11

back this year . I'll start with

26:13

that .

26:13

Yes , you are , and and

26:15

I'm so grateful and I'm so excited

26:18

because I love , you know things

26:21

that stab , and so I'm excited

26:23

for the quills class personally

26:25

. Um , I

26:28

, let me see , I'm doing this from memory . I don't have my list

26:30

in front of me , um , so I know we

26:32

have back lady d um

26:35

. John pendle , the carney

26:37

, is coming back and also hosting a police

26:40

this year on on Sunday

26:42

. Let me see

26:44

, you

26:47

have to apologize . I have to apologize . I think

26:49

in bubbles and they're not always

26:51

in any particular order . I

26:57

have your back , of course I have

27:00

. Let me see , I'm just trying to think

27:02

of the list . I have some new presenters coming in this

27:04

year . We have Sir Phoenix Black coming

27:06

in . He will be teaching two classes

27:08

. One of them he'll be co-teaching with Lady D . Yeah

27:12

, I , just this lineup

27:15

, let's see . We have Master Tano

27:17

will be able to come this year . He had to bow

27:19

out for emergency reasons last

27:21

year , so he , even though he retired

27:23

last year , he's decided to come and

27:25

make in and make this his last

27:27

event here . That's awesome , I

27:30

know , and I'm so excited .

27:32

Uh , laura Antony will be back there's oneminkey

27:35

and I am super excited .

27:35

I actually

27:50

last year that was a requested class

27:52

by Team Soup's Kate

27:55

. She really wants to attend that

27:57

class and we asked Laura

27:59

if she would present it and she absolutely said

28:01

yes . So I'm excited for that .

28:04

So , team Sue , Shminky

28:06

, shminky Jewish perspectives

28:08

on that thing we do . Last year

28:10

she presented , and after

28:13

the class I went up to talk to

28:15

her and she presented me with a

28:17

leather pride yarmulke . So

28:19

one of my treasured possessions

28:21

, because it's just so perfect .

28:23

So one of my treasured possessions because it's just so perfect . She

28:26

is an amazing woman . I have known her for years

28:28

and years and years and I

28:30

am so happy that she has agreed to come back

28:32

this year Right after

28:34

our event . She's traveling internationally

28:37

on that Wednesday after

28:39

our event , so I am just super

28:41

thankful she agreed to come .

28:43

And it's her birthday weekend .

28:46

Oh , this ought to be super fun then you mentioned

28:48

team soup is going to be back .

28:50

Yeah , yes , yes

28:52

, they are , yes , they are

28:54

them and their primal selves .

28:56

It's going to be a lot of fun and

28:59

, uh , just rob , who was our guest

29:01

on episode two here

29:03

, and

29:07

Just Rob , who was our guest on episode two , here he's presenting

29:09

.

29:09

I don't know something odd and

29:11

out there and extreme , I'm sure , Blood Impact . Yeah , it's

29:13

going to be fun Again

29:16

. Some of that stuff I really enjoy . I

29:18

think I like this just because I get to see and

29:20

read all the descriptions . You're like I want to go to that . If

29:23

I want to go to that , other people want to go to that .

29:25

Do you get to go to any classes or are you

29:27

too busy running the event ?

29:29

I try really , really

29:32

hard . We try and make every class at

29:34

least 10 to 15 minutes . Generally

29:37

we get pulled out before then , Like

29:40

I got to be in your chain fisting class last

29:42

year and got to be right up until right

29:44

before you started the demonstration oh

29:46

that's

29:50

depressing it

29:52

really is . I think the longest class I was in

29:54

last year was um the

29:57

carnie's cutting class and the rabbi

29:59

.

29:59

I think you were in that one as well . Let's

30:02

see , uh , cookie Fortuna

30:04

.

30:06

Yes , cookie . Cookie is

30:08

new to us this year but really

30:11

experienced in the Denver community with

30:13

rope . I believe

30:15

Cookie is also one of the hosts of

30:17

Denver Bound here in Denver , so

30:19

it's one of the smaller rope spaces

30:21

here Very cool . Denver so it's one of the smaller rope

30:23

spaces here , very cool . I'm excited for those classes

30:26

because they're a

30:28

lot of working with bigger rope bottoms

30:30

and putting them up

30:32

and doing , learning

30:35

how to do rope when there's a disability

30:37

involved , things like that and how

30:40

do we change the way we do things . So I'm

30:42

really excited for his classes .

30:45

Nice Um Midnight . Angel Peggy

30:48

O .

30:51

Yeah , midnight Angel , she's new

30:53

to us this year . She's coming out of Florida . She's

30:56

gonna be teaching on like daddy

30:58

and girl and

31:00

and just that dynamic and

31:02

some of the other dynamics that are similar . Um

31:05

, peggy O

31:07

so Peggy O is also local

31:09

here to Denver . Um , she is also

31:12

a friend of Midori and she came with

31:14

Midori last year . Um , midori

31:16

is unable to join us this year , but

31:18

Peggy O is coming because

31:20

she saw that we had like a takedown class

31:23

last year and she

31:25

wanted to teach that class

31:27

from a female perspective and how to

31:29

take on somebody bigger than you . So

31:33

that's going to be a very exciting , that's going

31:35

to be awesome and then the last

31:37

one I'm seeing .

31:38

I think we got everybody else , uh

31:40

, brad oh

31:44

, science of bdsm .

31:45

They are always a joy to have . Like , I'm

31:47

a nerd and a historian

31:50

and I can't

31:52

tell you how many degrees I have and

31:54

stuff I don't need . And it's

31:56

amazing to talk to brad . He , I

31:59

mean , he spent his whole life this . This is what he does . He researches

32:01

and he creates these fabulous

32:04

articles and papers with all

32:06

of this data , and sometimes

32:09

I would love to be his data

32:11

assistant because I love .

32:15

So for our listeners who may not be familiar

32:17

, there is a group out

32:19

of northern Illinois called the Science of BDSM

32:21

. Out of Northern Illinois is called the science of BDSM and this is

32:23

all they do is research BDSM

32:26

in , specifically

32:29

in relation to mental health , but in a

32:31

lot of other ways too , and they do

32:33

a lot of great work .

32:35

And yes , it is actually legit

32:37

research backed by a

32:41

university Northern

32:44

Illinois . I believe , yeah

32:47

, I'm going to have to research that in

32:49

order to remember as to which

32:52

university it is , but

32:54

I know Brad talks about it with

32:56

each of his classes as to which university

32:59

and them getting published

33:01

with any of the research

33:03

that they do and such like that , which

33:07

has been absolutely useful

33:09

for your master's

33:11

.

33:11

Yeah , when I was working

33:13

on my master's degree and would be writing

33:15

papers on BDSM

33:18

and mental health , finding that information

33:21

out there was really hard . Sometimes

33:23

I'd just cut to the chase and search

33:25

his name instead so

33:28

I could cite his papers or go

33:31

to his citations and cite

33:34

something else from there . So

33:36

yeah , they

33:38

did a cool group yeah , he does some amazing

33:40

absolutely as you're

33:42

, you know , going through the classes and such

33:44

like that .

33:46

How do you guys try to figure

33:48

out who are you going to pick , because this

33:50

is an awesome lineup and

33:52

I know last year's classes were

33:54

phenomenal and this year's sound equally

33:57

amazing . I'm really looking forward

34:00

to it . How do you all decide this stuff ?

34:04

With great difficulty , a

34:08

lot of back and forth

34:11

. We get a lot of applications

34:13

, but oftentimes we'll know our

34:16

core group that we're going to invite ahead

34:18

of time . So , like last year , at the end of the

34:20

event there was a couple of presenters we

34:22

just knew we wanted back right away . So we

34:24

we said , hey , would

34:26

you like to come back next year ? Um

34:29

, we'll worry about classes

34:31

later . And that's kind of like we know personality

34:33

wise if we

34:36

love you , our , our membership

34:38

loves you , we want you back . Like I

34:41

don't care what you teach , you'll

34:43

teach something you know . Um

34:46

, I have one presenter who had

34:48

to write stuff for for the event

34:50

because they didn't have anything . It's

34:52

like I want you and they're like I

34:54

don't , I don't know what to teach . I've never really done

34:56

a big event like this before . I was like you'll

34:58

figure it out , just make something

35:01

up , it'll be all right no you

35:04

know . it's like you know what you know , I don't know what you

35:06

know , and

35:08

um . So once we have that core

35:11

group usually the first five

35:13

or six then we start going through

35:15

applications and we start seeing

35:17

what's out there , because you know , we don't

35:19

know everybody , sure , and that's

35:21

you know , and or we'll have , um , some

35:24

of our presenters will be like , hey , I know this person

35:26

who is a really good presenter , I've

35:28

seen them a few times , or I'm mentoring

35:31

them , um , and I think that they would

35:33

be a really good fit , and you know , that's

35:35

how we ended up with another one of our presenters this year . Um

35:38

, and it's just a

35:40

lot of combing through

35:43

things . I look at other events as , like

35:45

somebody applies and I'll go out and

35:47

look where have you presented

35:49

before ? How did you do ? I

35:52

might reach out to those educational coordinators

35:55

and be like , hey , what was the feedback you got ? I

35:58

look at our feedback forms and see what does our membership

36:00

want to see forms

36:06

and see what does our membership want to see . You know , we

36:08

have some stuff that we couldn't fit in this year , that I absolutely am

36:10

going to try and find for next year , and so it's just it's

36:12

, it's a game Like

36:14

I'm going to go back to . It's a jigsaw puzzle Like you've got

36:16

all of these different pieces of information you've

36:18

got to bring together and then I get to do my happy research

36:20

. I love research , so I

36:23

get to be on my computer and going and searching

36:25

for people and places and what

36:28

do you teach ? How did you do it ? Are

36:30

you fascinating to ?

36:31

me . So you're

36:33

, I was gonna say , like I pulled out of the that

36:35

information of like you , um

36:38

you're I

36:41

know you talked about vetting your members

36:43

to be there , but you really

36:46

are even vetting your educators

36:48

as well to make sure that , hey

36:51

, yeah , our educators

36:53

legit , have

36:56

been other places and know their stuff and aren't just

36:58

like you know bullshit , neil . You're

37:01

vetting them as well .

37:07

Absolutely . I mean , if we say we're going to be an event for experienced

37:09

players and offering them continuing

37:11

educational classes in

37:13

their interest or something they want to learn

37:16

, well , these people don't need that

37:18

one-on-one fluff . They need

37:20

somebody who's been doing it their stuff

37:22

and can be like hey , here's

37:24

what you're going to read out there . Let me tell you from my personal

37:27

experience this is what works . So

37:30

, yeah , I'm going to go make sure you know what you're talking

37:33

about . I don't want to , you

37:35

know . I don't want people to come and say , hey , that guy didn't know

37:37

anything .

37:38

You know that's never fun yeah

37:41

, I mean I've been in a few classes

37:43

where after

37:45

an hour and a half they've talked about that

37:48

topic for an hour and a half , but I

37:50

don't think I've actually learned anything

37:52

, and that's always

37:54

disappointing .

37:57

I agree . I agree 100%

38:00

. You

38:02

know not an unknown

38:04

fact about me , as I used to be a teacher , so

38:07

I I know the personality

38:10

and and what it takes

38:12

. I also have so many

38:14

degrees that taught me how to talk

38:17

about things in such a way I

38:19

could articulate it

38:21

to people who have no idea .

38:23

Sure .

38:24

And you need people that can

38:26

come into a classroom and be like all

38:29

right , what's your experience level ? Let

38:32

me adjust to you . Let me , you know , I have some people in here

38:34

that are new , all the way up to the most experienced

38:36

players I've ever met . I

38:39

got to teach this class to that level

38:41

, you know I've got . How do

38:43

I , how do I make sure my content can reach those

38:45

new people and keep those really

38:47

experienced people engaged ?

38:49

Sure , so

38:51

one thing last year that I noticed that

38:53

I thought was rather unique , um

38:55

, in many of the events that

38:57

we have been at um and

39:00

I found it really cool was was

39:02

that you all had people

39:07

who were going through education

39:10

process to be sex therapists

39:13

at your event . How did

39:15

that come about ?

39:18

So SHA , I've known

39:21

Heather for a really long

39:23

time with the previous event

39:25

and she reached

39:27

out and said hey , you

39:30

know we've done some of this before . Would

39:32

you be willing to let us do this at your event ? And

39:34

I was like , absolutely , that's what we're

39:36

here for . We're

39:39

here to make sure that this community

39:42

not only gets fabulous

39:44

education , has a safe space

39:46

, but if they need help , there's

39:48

professionals that can help us in our

39:51

unique ways . I

39:53

can't go to my generic therapist

39:56

down the street because I'm going to start talking

39:58

and he's going to start

40:00

looking at me funny and

40:04

then I'm going to feel like I don't want to you . Nothing we need . We need people

40:06

who know how to

40:08

help us in the best way they can

40:10

and for them and

40:12

that group , it's to going to events and

40:15

seeing what we're seeing and

40:18

understanding our

40:20

mindset that we're coming from , when we have

40:22

to come and say , hey , I need to talk .

40:24

SHA , sexual Health Alliance . Heather

40:27

was actually my supervisor for my sex

40:29

therapy , so they do good

40:31

work . I

40:34

was introduced to them with a class . They actually had Midori teach on

40:36

being a kinky professional at

40:40

the very beginning of my journey

40:42

into mental health

40:44

.

40:47

Yeah , I do love that , and Midoriya

40:49

is such a large part of helping

40:52

within that group and

40:54

I love that we couldn't

40:56

make it work where they can come back . This year there was just

40:58

so many out-of-country events

41:00

for them , oh sure yeah , they

41:03

couldn't swing it . I'm hoping that we can

41:05

make it work again in the future .

41:07

Very cool . So

41:09

what new and exciting

41:12

things can we look forward to this

41:14

year ?

41:17

Oh my gosh , there's a lot . Every

41:19

year is going to be different . You know we're going to have

41:21

the same but it's going to be different

41:24

. You

41:30

know I'm trying to make the masked ball a little , a little bigger , a

41:32

little grander . Um , I got hit on that a lot last year

41:34

because we were just there was so much unexpected

41:37

stuff once we hit the hotel we

41:39

didn't get a chance to decorate the way we wanted

41:41

to , um , and

41:44

you know that was our fault , not really

41:46

. You know , again , being the first event and not planning

41:48

appropriately . You know that's one of those

41:50

things I reached . I told my directors I was like

41:52

, hey , I need a planning party committee

41:55

for this , because there's

41:57

always something that we don't , we don't

41:59

expect that comes up . Um , but

42:02

somebody asked why I do the mass ball and

42:05

I raised

42:07

an autistic son and

42:10

my son had a lot of issues

42:12

socializing when he was younger . And

42:15

one of the things that I think is so important

42:17

is that , as adults

42:19

, those of us who do have

42:21

social anxiety or are

42:24

neurodivergent in some way , shape or form

42:26

, have a place

42:28

where we can also feel welcome

42:30

and we can feel like maybe we don't have

42:32

to be ourselves here . We can put a mask

42:34

on , we can walk into this room of

42:37

people and maybe

42:39

we can say hi because we have that mask

42:41

, that shield that protects us . So

42:44

we might feel a little more comfortable saying hi to

42:46

somebody or having a conversation and

42:48

being able to walk away and

42:50

not feel like we've just exposed

42:53

everything about ourselves which makes us uncomfortable

42:55

. And I think for

42:58

the event I've I've been a hardcore , you

43:01

know proponent for this mask ball since the

43:03

beginning event . I've been a hardcore , you know

43:05

, proponent for this mask ball since the beginning because I think it does give people

43:07

an opportunity to put a mask on , dress up and I

43:09

will admit , one of my kinks is dressing up pretty

43:12

and being there because

43:14

I like to dress up . I like corsets and stuff

43:17

but I also like

43:19

the fact that people I know that

43:22

are uncomfortable in social situations can

43:25

come into that space with a mask

43:27

on and feel a

43:29

little more comfortable talking to new people , and

43:32

I love that .

43:34

Well , I'll definitely say , while it

43:37

fell short last year , other

43:40

than that nothing

43:43

showed that it was a first-year event . I

43:46

thought everything was ran

43:48

amazingly . I've been

43:50

at first-year events that felt like first-year

43:52

events . This did not mm-hmm .

43:54

No , this didn't feel like a first-year event at all

43:56

we

43:59

appreciate that so much

44:02

.

44:05

You know we get to see all the cracks , but I am very

44:08

glad that the people who come and

44:10

all the members did not feel that

44:13

they were basically gypped from

44:16

a great event .

44:17

No , I was going to say I mean , I

44:19

get you know , each year you get like a little

44:21

bit of a learning curve of like all right

44:23

, you know this didn't go well last

44:25

year , so how about if we make this little

44:28

bit of adjustment to see if you know that

44:30

helps ? And you

44:32

know sometimes it's successful and

44:35

sometimes it's not , and so then it's

44:37

all right , it it worked a little

44:39

bit better , but you know still a little

44:41

bit of adjustments type thing . Then it sounds

44:44

like you all are still

44:46

taking that in stride and

44:49

working on that .

44:51

We are . One of the things that a lot of

44:53

smaller groups within our larger

44:56

group mentioned in their feedback

44:58

forms was they wanted to have

45:00

a space where maybe their group can

45:02

just be and play , and

45:05

so , for instance , like maybe

45:07

the ponies want to just have a room where they can

45:09

play by themselves , or the littles

45:12

or you

45:14

know , whatever small group

45:16

happens to be there , because it's

45:18

different every year . And so that

45:21

is one new thing we did this year is we implemented

45:23

the ability to rent a

45:25

small playroom in

45:28

two-hour increments during the play parties so

45:30

a small group can come in , they can rent

45:32

the room . It's actually two and a half hours because we give

45:34

you a set up in a tear down time

45:36

, but we supply the equipment

45:38

and people can actually rent

45:41

a room for just their group

45:44

for two hours at a time . I

45:49

think it's up to six hours for the

45:51

party for three

45:53

nights . So we took the

45:55

feedback forms and , because of the cost of

45:57

the space and everything , we couldn't just give it for

45:59

free . So there is

46:01

a rental fee but that group can then control

46:03

that room for that two and a half hour

46:05

time period very cool and they

46:08

should contact um

46:10

y'all via the website in

46:12

order to yeah , they , they

46:15

can go to the website . It's on the um sponsors

46:17

page . They just click

46:19

on the um sponsor link and it'll

46:21

bring up it's it's at the bottom of the form

46:23

to be able to apply for

46:26

a date . They can do Thursday , friday

46:28

or Saturday , and it's

46:30

throughout the entire play night . Cool , so

46:35

that is something new this year that , because

46:37

of the feedback we received about the smaller groups

46:39

wanting their own space and

46:41

it's just really hard to create those breakout

46:43

spaces- for everybody um

46:46

. So this was the way that we

46:48

could do that without , you

46:50

know , compromising

46:53

the rest of the event that's completely fair .

46:56

I mean , you know , and then , uh

46:58

, they'll discuss with you as to whatever

47:00

the fee would be , depending on , um

47:02

, the hours of what they wanted , it and

47:04

such , and get that all

47:07

scheduled very nice yeah

47:09

, yeah , I I'm kind

47:11

of excited to see who takes advantage of that this

47:13

year .

47:14

I know we had a lot of like families or

47:16

tribes and things that kind of wanted to do

47:18

something similar , and so I

47:20

I mean it's out there for anybody who wants

47:23

to do it . I know I have a director who

47:25

even wants to take advantage of that for his small

47:27

little group , so we'll see . We'll see what

47:30

kind of fun gets had in those rooms this year

47:32

.

47:35

So there's dungeon

47:37

time , there's classes , there's the

47:39

masked ball . What

47:42

other activities are going

47:44

on ?

47:46

so thursday night we'll have a meet and

47:48

greet um . Friday night

47:50

will be the masked ball . Saturday night

47:53

is a cigar social . Um

47:55

. We have breakout times every day for lunchtime

47:57

so everybody gets to break at the same

48:00

time and meet up and and go

48:02

do whatever lunch you want to do , or hang out

48:04

and and talk . And

48:06

um , sunday's

48:08

gonna be the hook pool , so that'll be

48:10

. That's new this year . That won't be an every

48:12

year thing , but I

48:15

was really happy that the carny decided

48:17

he wanted to do that this year that sounds

48:19

amazing I

48:22

can't wait . The energy level in a hook

48:24

pool is so intense and

48:26

so altering . It's

48:28

amazing .

48:30

I'm sure it is . This rabbi is over here

48:33

slightly being squeamish

48:35

because that's not his thing , but

48:38

I'm over here going wow

48:40

, this is going to be amazing . I'm totally and completely

48:42

going to see if I can make

48:44

it in my schedule to watch , um

48:47

, even just quietly from the corner . But

48:49

you know , as he's over here , and honest

48:52

.

48:53

Honestly , for the squeamish , I mean , for

48:56

me , I don't . I don't participate , I'm

48:58

a voyeur . I'm a voyeur , I love

49:00

to watch , I love to learn , I love to listen

49:04

. But walking into

49:06

a hook , pool the energy

49:08

that is there and that is being

49:10

shared , it's

49:12

mind altering , it's

49:15

intense .

49:18

I can imagine it is , but for whatever

49:20

reason , that is the one

49:23

and only thing that

49:25

makes me squeamish , and I am

49:27

extremely squeamish about it . I

49:29

know brad has a picture in one of

49:31

his slideshows and I have to put my

49:33

head down when it comes up on the screen because I

49:35

can't look at it .

49:38

Just yeah , I actually think

49:42

that might be one of the classes he's teaching this year

49:44

so

49:47

I will not be attending now no

49:51

, but his other one is gonna be a blast

49:53

. He wrote it with like a you know the , the

49:55

beginning of the star trek , the

49:57

theme , the whole . So he wrote his class like

49:59

that . The whole bio of the class is written like

50:01

that and it's about subspace .

50:03

It's called subspace the final frontier

50:06

like it's amazing , is

50:14

the wonderful masseuse going to

50:16

be there again this year ?

50:19

yes , and we should also have our second masseuse

50:21

back . Um , she got sick last

50:23

year , which is why she couldn't make it , but

50:26

so we should have both the masseuse from

50:28

last year kyle with metamorphosis massage

50:30

, and nicole should

50:32

also be there this year , yay , and

50:35

if it looks like we're going to have a large turnout

50:37

for massages , they're both offered

50:40

to bring additional people with them , to

50:42

make sure everybody who wants a massage that

50:44

is amazing .

50:46

Okay , that is , I will have to say

50:48

. This is like one of the things that the event

50:50

that I was like look , I got

50:52

my ass beat followed by oh , hey

50:55

, I can get a massage , and you know , oh , hey , I can get a massage

50:57

, and you know , yes , it

51:00

was wonderful .

51:03

We're also for those who

51:06

want to partake . We're also going to have Denver Health

51:08

come in and do free STI testing

51:10

, nice . So they'll

51:12

have a room and they'll be doing it all day , I

51:14

think pretty much every day .

51:16

I was going to say they were there last

51:18

year as well . Yep Correct

51:22

.

51:22

Right across from the massage therapy .

51:24

Very nice group of folks , very

51:26

welcoming , very you know just

51:29

real well , very knowledgeable

51:31

, encouraging

51:34

all of that good stuff , which was a

51:37

very nice thing yeah

51:40

, and he's also bringing additional people this year

51:42

because it was so well sought

51:44

out last year um

51:48

and what about vendors ? Yes , I

51:50

was gonna say what about vendors oh

51:52

, vendors .

51:53

We uh , we had to move vendors to a new

51:55

room this year because we did bring more

51:58

vendors in Per

52:01

our feedback , we did not have enough

52:03

vendors . Next

52:05

year we will have no such problem , because next

52:07

year we will have much

52:10

better space for vendors . But this year they

52:12

are in a new room . We do have more vendors . We

52:15

are trying to offer more products , it's

52:17

just . You know , we'll see what

52:19

they bring very

52:21

cool .

52:22

Is there any vendors that you

52:24

are looking forward to ?

52:28

we have some new vendors this year like , uh

52:30

, we have , let me see , I'm

52:32

gonna butcher some of these names . So we have Mistress Bees

52:34

Boutique and

52:42

we have I want to say it's Spicy

52:44

Tuna , and

52:49

those are new vendors to us . And , my gosh , I do not know vendors nearly as

52:51

well as I know presenters and I didn't know them very well it happens . It's

52:54

okay , I know , see , in my house , my

52:56

house is command central for the event , so

52:59

I have those very large notepad

53:01

sticky notes on all my walls and

53:04

I have a wall for presenters and I have a wall

53:06

for vendors and I have a

53:08

wall for staff , and so

53:10

not being in my command

53:13

center is difficult . We

53:16

have back some great vendors too . So Varkin

53:19

Co is coming Sorry , not Varkin Co . Valkyrie

53:22

Designs is coming back . Naughty

53:26

Kitty with all of her fabulous

53:28

rope I loved her glow-in-the-dark rope last

53:30

year and

53:33

she's coming back this year . We're going

53:35

to have Pan's Haven with the pourable wax

53:37

coming , let

53:39

me see . Oh

53:42

my gosh , I do not know all of our vendors . I

53:44

apologize .

53:46

I was going to say it's one of those things we can

53:48

always throw into , like the links later

53:50

on and such like that too with the

53:52

podcast .

53:52

Absolutely , absolutely . And anybody

53:55

who has been watching our social media like

54:02

I , I have all of our vendors and presenters

54:04

posted on social media and I'm starting to go back through our presenters

54:07

and our vendors now . So just keep a watch out , because I'm posting daily

54:09

, sometimes a couple of times a day , just trying

54:11

to get everybody out again and

54:14

getting them that recognition they deserve

54:16

. I mean , they have a hard life . Have a hard life , vendors and

54:18

presenters . You guys do so much traveling

54:20

and you go from

54:22

event to event to event . So I do

54:24

want to .

54:25

I want to blast everybody out there and be like

54:27

hey , visit their websites yes

54:29

, yes , I know

54:31

that you guys are one of the events

54:33

that are very good about advertising

54:36

who your presenters and vendors

54:38

are , and that's very much appreciated yeah

54:42

, I'm looking on the website right

54:44

now .

54:44

Canes for pain . As a vendor I'm familiar

54:46

with . She has some really

54:49

fantastic canes

54:51

that , if

54:54

I had the right person to use them on , I

54:56

would buy 12 of them . Little

54:59

bit is not the cane slut that

55:01

would be required . It's

55:04

like a cane with crushed seashells

55:07

glued along it . Yes , and

55:09

it's sharp . It is amazing .

55:13

I'm going to have to agree with Little Bit there . I am not

55:15

a cane girl .

55:18

I am not a heavy bottom like as much as I

55:20

would be like . Yes , I am that heavy

55:23

, you know S&M bottom . No

55:25

, I'm yeah

55:27

, no , but I I'm just not , unfortunately

55:30

. However , um part of me wonders

55:32

if Rabbi's other play

55:34

partner , if

55:37

that would fit their profile . But

55:39

I'm not sure , I guess not

55:42

. Not on the blood part .

55:44

That absolutely would draw blood .

55:46

Oh , that's so sad , oh yes .

55:49

Yeah , it's very fragile

55:51

, so if she lets you pick it up , it'll

55:54

cut Like paper cut .

55:57

It did inspire me to build my own

55:59

toy . That was a knockoff of it . I

56:01

did a scene themed like Willy

56:03

Wonka and I covered the cane with nerds

56:05

instead of seashells .

56:08

That's awesome . It actually went

56:10

over really well , Like

56:15

the person that you did the scene with

56:17

absolutely enjoyed that . That's

56:20

the idea I get that that's

56:25

awesome .

56:26

I love that . We

56:29

also have um compass rose creations coming

56:32

back and she has some amazing

56:34

wooden paddles , oh my gosh .

56:36

And if you don't follow her on Instagram

56:39

, she posts some of her before

56:41

and after and it's just amazing what

56:43

she can do with wood fantastic very

56:45

cool so , before

56:48

we transition into

56:50

the part of the show we like to call inside

56:53

the kinkster studio , is there anything else

56:55

you would like our listeners to know about

56:57

the Guild of Deviated Standards ?

57:03

I just want everybody to know that it

57:05

takes a lot of love and hard

57:07

work to go into creating

57:10

this space for everybody to enjoy . My

57:14

joy comes from when people come

57:16

and show up and are

57:18

present , and so

57:20

I think that's just an important thing to know is that

57:22

you know , even

57:25

if you're just a little interested , show up

57:27

. You never know . We try and have something

57:29

for everybody . We

57:31

don't cater to one specific area

57:34

. We are all out there . We are

57:36

just throwing everything at you and

57:39

you get to choose what

57:41

you want to learn and

57:44

you know if people are still interested

57:46

, I would suggest going to you

57:48

know , guildofdeviatedstandardscom

57:51

and apply now . We are vetting

57:53

daily . I still have

57:55

about 200 open spots for this year

57:57

. So I

57:59

would say , if you might even be a little bit

58:01

interested , get online , apply

58:04

and come . You never know

58:06

who you're going to meet . You never know what you're going

58:08

to learn or see . That

58:10

might be your next joy .

58:14

I do have one more question how

58:18

did you come up with the name ? Because I just love

58:20

the name . I think it's fantastic .

58:25

Okay , story

58:27

time . So many , many , many

58:29

moons ago about probably

58:32

about 15 , 16

58:34

years ago , before my husband and I married

58:36

, we were he was my

58:38

dominant and we

58:41

were a part of , I guess , a

58:43

tribe . We were just a bunch of people

58:45

that had our own families

58:47

. We were into completely different

58:49

things , but we just enjoyed each other's company

58:52

and we were like , hey , we should

58:54

be a family . And so

58:56

, because none of us were the same , we

58:59

were . All of us are on the fringe of something

59:01

. So we've decided on , instead

59:05

of a family , we would be a guild and

59:07

then we would be um , since

59:09

we are so deviated in everything that we do

59:12

everything that we want to do um

59:14

everywhere that we go . We

59:16

had a mathematician amongst us and

59:20

he decided on deviated standards . So

59:22

that became our leather family name . And

59:25

over the years we've

59:28

, all you know , a lot of us have gone separate ways and there's

59:30

just that core group that still exists

59:32

. And when we had the opportunity

59:34

to make

59:36

this event into our

59:38

own , we

59:41

gifted the event with our family

59:43

name because we put so much of

59:45

ourselves into it . Everybody

59:48

who comes is really a part

59:51

of our family . It's not

59:53

just a membership . For

59:55

me personally , it's a

59:57

group of like-minded people . We are all

59:59

different and

1:00:02

we all fit . This is

1:00:05

a place where we can all fit together . Personal

1:00:18

thing to have this event and having gifted it our family name , and just so

1:00:20

everybody can enjoy I

1:00:24

absolutely adore that . That

1:00:26

is amazing this

1:00:30

is like a super like for for

1:00:32

jareth and I , this , I , this is , this is our

1:00:35

family , this is what we do , this is our

1:00:37

life , we give our

1:00:39

all and our

1:00:42

family is our all .

1:00:45

As an attendee . I very much appreciate

1:00:47

that . Very

1:00:49

much appreciate that .

1:00:53

Thank you If you catch me saying that in

1:00:55

one-on-one I end up crying , so I'm really glad this in in one-on-one I end up crying

1:00:57

. So uh

1:01:01

.

1:01:01

So , once again , the dates for this year are

1:01:03

august 1st through 4th . Uh

1:01:06

is in denver , colorado . The

1:01:09

website is guild

1:01:11

of deviated standardscom

1:01:13

. Facebook guild of deviated

1:01:16

standards . Instagram

1:01:18

gods Denver , uh

1:01:21

. Twitter or X Denver

1:01:23

. Underscore D S All

1:01:26

right , so you

1:01:29

game for uh inside the kinkster

1:01:31

studio . Learn a little bit more about

1:01:33

you . Absolutely .

1:01:35

All right , what's your favorite ?

1:01:36

toy in your toy bag , learn a little bit more about you . Absolutely Alright . What's

1:01:38

your favorite toy in your toy bag ? Needles

1:01:42

.

1:01:42

Nice Hands down

1:01:44

.

1:01:47

Top or bottom for that .

1:01:49

I'm usually a bottom , but I'm also a switch

1:01:51

, so I'll stick you if you want me to . Okay

1:01:54

, I

1:01:56

used to be a piercer , oh cool

1:01:59

. Yeah , I used to like all

1:02:01

the tattoos except for my back piece and

1:02:03

my hip piece . I've done all the tattoos on my

1:02:05

body .

1:02:05

You didn't do the one on your back .

1:02:09

No , you know how hard it is to like turn

1:02:11

your arms backwards with a mirror , like

1:02:13

it doesn't work right what

1:02:17

is your biggest pet peeve and kick people

1:02:21

who think they know it all or that theirs

1:02:23

is the only way I

1:02:25

didn't prompt her to say that , just for the record

1:02:27

I

1:02:31

don't . I you know just as a teacher

1:02:33

, there's no one way

1:02:35

to do anything , and so if

1:02:38

somebody is telling me , like this is the way you

1:02:40

have to do it , and this is the only way to do it , I'm gonna look

1:02:42

at you and come up with another way fair

1:02:44

but what about this ?

1:02:47

I mean you're kind of jumping all over one

1:02:49

of my catchphrases , but

1:02:51

that's cool . So what are some of your

1:02:54

catchphrases ?

1:02:57

Oh my gosh , be what you want to see . That

1:03:00

is my favorite one . That's

1:03:04

why I dress the way I dress . That's why

1:03:06

I do what I do . That's you know

1:03:08

why I give the way I give is

1:03:11

because that's what I want to see . Come back .

1:03:15

What is something people would be surprised

1:03:17

to know about you ?

1:03:20

I'm a closet introvert . Growing

1:03:25

up I actually I

1:03:27

actually probably would have been diagnosed

1:03:29

Asperger's and

1:03:32

it was really hard for me to

1:03:34

to talk , and

1:03:36

I will have to say this is probably one of the first

1:03:39

times that I'm speaking

1:03:41

without a nervous tick , so

1:03:43

thank you for making me feel so comfortable .

1:03:46

Aw you're very welcome . Yes , you're

1:03:48

definitely welcome .

1:03:51

If you could have a scene with one celebrity

1:03:54

, who would it be , and why ?

1:03:56

I don't know if I'd want a scene with a celebrity . I

1:04:00

like to scene with people . I know I

1:04:02

scene based on energy , but maybe

1:04:05

if it's scene celebrity and

1:04:09

I really wanted to hurt the next day

1:04:11

, I might want a scene with Mastro

1:04:15

Stefanos , because

1:04:18

he is hardcore .

1:04:21

Oh , my favorite .

1:04:23

Go right ahead .

1:04:25

What's your favorite curse word ?

1:04:29

I like to say son of a monkey a lot . That

1:04:32

is fantastic , You'll

1:04:34

hear me I'll go to curse . And it's just because when

1:04:36

I was teaching I wasn't allowed to curse my

1:04:39

students , so I had to come up with another

1:04:41

way . So

1:04:45

there was a lot of son of a monkey

1:04:47

and I mean just like

1:04:49

stuff like that .

1:04:51

Habits die hard sometimes , but understandable

1:04:54

Nice .

1:04:56

What is the best kink advice you ever

1:04:58

received ?

1:05:01

Know the person you're playing with , like

1:05:05

really have a conversation and get to know them

1:05:07

before you agree to anything .

1:05:11

What is the best compliment that you have

1:05:13

received in kink ?

1:05:16

I'm gonna have to go back to last year's compliment

1:05:19

about the event being so safe . Trans

1:05:21

people could play in the pan space

1:05:23

. Cool , Like

1:05:25

that is my favorite compliment

1:05:27

ever .

1:05:31

I would definitely take that and run with it , because

1:05:34

that is a hell of a compliment

1:05:36

.

1:05:37

Same would definitely take that and run with it , because that is a hell of a compliment , same . All right

1:05:39

, we'll end with my favorite question

1:05:42

, to ask if you had

1:05:44

to , which

1:05:46

muppet would you have sex with ?

1:05:54

huh , I'm gonna have to go

1:05:56

with Oscar okay

1:06:00

, and why ? He's a little

1:06:03

dirty and he lives in a trash

1:06:05

can , but I'm

1:06:07

a little dirty and a little curious fair

1:06:10

, completely

1:06:14

fair well .

1:06:15

Thanks for coming on the show . Definitely

1:06:17

thank you . You've been a great guest and

1:06:19

hopefully our

1:06:22

listeners have learned a lot about the

1:06:24

Guild of Deviated Standards . For

1:06:27

our listeners , upcoming synagogue in

1:06:30

1:06:33

the ones we'll be teaching at Guild of

1:06:35

1:06:40

1:06:43

Guasha

1:06:46

Quills and Cell Popping . I know

1:06:48

what I'm talking about . I swear .

1:06:53

I have to pull out your bio now .
