1:00

late April, a charismatic pastor from South

1:02

Carolina made a sudden announcement at the

1:04

end of his sermon. His wife was

1:07

dead. The internet began questioning his

1:09

strange delivery, and her loved ones

1:11

began speaking out about the man

1:13

of God's twisted past. Receipts

1:15

show this picture-perfect couple was anything

1:17

but. But the truth about the pastor

1:19

and what he did to his wife is still

1:22

being revealed. He denies everything,

1:24

but with each passing day, the evidence

1:26

mounts. This week's episode is

1:29

Micah Miller. The case so far, heart

1:31

one. Which

1:51

is curse? It's hopeless. You're doomed.

1:53

You'd call a priest if you

1:55

could. You'd rather just listen to

1:58

who said it. Mr.

2:00

Food. I'm

2:08

gonna kill you. Well, the

2:10

amount of times we've said, this is like the Murdoch case

2:12

over and over again, because it really does feel

2:14

like every day something new unfolds in this

2:16

case. It's hard to even talk about. And there's

2:19

so many players, and each player,

2:22

well really, mainly JP's

2:25

father, but he's got his whole set

2:27

of issues and stuff that I think is

2:30

gonna come out in the wash too. But things

2:33

just, I mean, you can't keep up fast

2:35

enough. Even, you know, like, that's why this

2:37

is so far, because this

2:39

case is developing so fast, and

2:42

every day things come out. And

2:45

things are, a lot more

2:47

stuff's gonna happen, because he hasn't been charged with

2:49

anything. So all of

2:51

that stuff, if it does happen, is going

2:53

to, you know, so there's a lot further

2:56

to go. But we've tried

2:59

to condense everything possible, and this

3:01

doesn't even cover all of it

3:04

into one episode, but there

3:06

will certainly be a part two, and

3:08

probably more than that. But this

3:11

is such a sad case, and

3:13

one that, much like the Murdochs,

3:15

I feel like it's kind of taken the

3:18

internet by storm. It's, you know, everyone

3:20

knows about it, is talking about it.

3:23

And it highlights a lot of

3:25

problems within our society. I

3:27

definitely agree. And content warning, there's

3:29

discussions of coercive control, every

3:32

type of abuse that you could suffer

3:34

both in a relationship with a spouse,

3:36

as well as in a relationship with

3:38

a pastor. So

3:40

content warning on that, as well as brief, I

3:43

won't say brief, repeated discussions and mention

3:45

of suicide, and claims

3:47

of threats, and things like that. So just

3:49

a- As well as several mentions

3:52

of child sexual abuse as

3:54

well. Yes, yes. It's

3:56

a ruffle. So keep that in mind, yeah, as you listen. Yeah,

3:58

it really is. And so, And like you

4:00

said, we've had to break it up into two parts only

4:02

because as more and more comes out, we're like, well,

4:04

we cover these things in chronological order. And

4:07

before even the inciting incident

4:09

that got the internet to even look at this

4:11

case, there is decades of stuff

4:13

to cover. And so that's what part

4:15

one today we'll cover is the

4:18

decades and decades that this

4:20

family, it sounds like, has been

4:23

entrenched in South Carolina religious, kind

4:25

of the South Carolina religious

4:27

scene and the community.

4:29

And it's like with Alec Murdoch, when you

4:31

have a lot of money, you have power.

4:33

In this case, when you have, I

4:35

guess that you're the pastor, you're the...

4:38

Still power. Yeah. And money.

4:40

I mean, they definitely, people are paying...

4:42

It's a rich church. ...tithing and whatnot.

4:44

Yeah. But for sure,

4:46

it reminds me so much of the Murdoch case.

4:49

One thing too that was interesting

4:51

that I found out through my research

4:53

as far as the

4:56

types of churches, I didn't

4:58

realize in addition

5:00

to evangelical, what they

5:02

refer to as JP

5:04

and his father being are charismatic

5:06

pastors and charismatic churches. And even

5:08

how there was kind of a

5:11

war at the time between evangelical

5:13

churches and charismatic churches. So I

5:15

found that that was interesting that

5:17

they compartmentalize

5:19

this too, that there's a difference in

5:22

them. But when you think of

5:24

charismatic, I was like, oh, kind of like

5:26

righteous gemstones, which might be also evangelical. I

5:29

don't know where the line is drawn, where

5:31

you go from maybe it's snakes and speaking

5:33

in tongues and whatnot from one to the

5:35

other, but you'll see a

5:37

lot of similarities of cults

5:40

in general when it comes to his type

5:42

of preaching. Most definitely. And yeah, that charismatic

5:45

where I think it is that speaking in

5:47

tongues and having that cultish

5:49

pastor, where it all comes back to this

5:51

one pastor. And so like father like son,

5:53

as we get into this South

5:56

Carolina mess before we, I mean, we're not

5:58

going to be, we'll be. close to

6:00

this, we'll be in North Carolina this upcoming week.

6:03

So too bad we're unfortunately not going to be able

6:05

to stay long enough to go down

6:07

and see any of this, but I've seen

6:09

a ton of journalists are on the scene

6:11

down in South Carolina, so we'll just be

6:13

a little bit further north on tour,

6:15

doing something a little bit more fun. Yeah,

6:19

a lot more fun. So if you

6:21

are in the North

6:23

Carolina area and you

6:25

want to come out and see our full moon

6:27

energy show, we've already

6:30

been in Charlotte. We were there last night when

6:32

you're going to hear this. So it was a

6:34

fabulous show. Thank you everyone for coming out to

6:36

Charlotte. It was great. But tonight

6:38

as you're hearing this June 12th in Raleigh,

6:41

we will be in Raleigh. So if

6:43

you're in the area, go to

6:45

sinisterhood.com/live shows to get tickets to

6:47

our full moon energy tour, the

6:49

full moon energy show. It's just

6:51

our touring show. We don't release

6:53

it on the main feed. So

6:56

the only place you will hear it is

6:58

live. And what will

7:00

they hear about Heather? Oh, we talk about

7:02

all of the darker side of the moon,

7:04

what it does to us, what's lurking up

7:06

there and the truth about what really happened

7:08

during the Apollo missions, if it happened at

7:10

all. Come find out at full

7:12

moon energy. And if you want to get your

7:15

own tickets, go to sinisterhood.com/live shows. We're going

7:17

to a couple other places this summer and we

7:19

might be coming to a city near you. Yeah.

7:22

Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toronto, Kansas city,

7:24

Oklahoma city, San Diego, Phoenix,

7:26

Las Vegas, and Dallas, we're

7:28

going to be hitting all

7:31

of those cities. So

7:33

for details, dates, times,

7:35

venues, and more, visit

7:37

sinisterhood.com/live shows. And this

7:39

today we're putting on our serious investigator

7:42

hats and definitely felt like I was

7:44

back in law school doing a issue

7:46

spotting exam, like where it's like this

7:49

pastor did this and this and this

7:51

thing. And I'm like, oh, that's that kind

7:53

of crime. And that's that kind of crime.

7:55

So everybody, as we kick into the beginning

7:58

of this saga, Perky. your

8:00

ears up because there's quite a few things

8:02

mentioned that I think we'll start this off

8:04

by saying John Paul Miller has not been

8:06

charged with any crimes against Micah Miller and

8:09

be a bit, be a mentally denies all

8:11

allegations. So for legal purposes, we got to

8:13

throw that out there. Yes.

8:16

He has claimed that that is a

8:18

fact that he has

8:20

claimed that he had nothing to do with it

8:22

as a fact. I heard him say

8:24

it. A true thing is that I heard him say

8:27

it. Yes. I have heard him say that as

8:29

have the entire internet, but

8:33

crash takes itself out. Yeah.

8:36

The truth comes out in the wash. What

8:38

we do in the dark comes out in

8:40

the light. I could keep going on and

8:42

on, but you're not wrong. Well,

8:45

I'm Christie. I'm Heather. And

8:47

let's get into it. John

8:51

Paul Miller was born in 1980

8:53

in Florence, South Carolina. His

8:55

father, Wayne Miller, was a televangelist, founder

8:57

of a Bible college in South Carolina

9:00

and pastor of one of the state's

9:02

most prominent charismatic churches. From

9:05

the beginning of his ministry to present,

9:07

Wayne Miller has faced a multitude of

9:09

charges, including fraud and multiple counts of

9:12

sexual abuse of a minor. In

9:14

later years, JP claimed that his father

9:16

also sexually abused him when he was

9:19

a child. And that's what,

9:21

when we say kind of this South Carolina church

9:24

royalty, Wayne was like

9:26

interviewed in the news. He had a

9:28

show called Good Morning Jesus. If somebody

9:30

wanted to have a talking head on

9:32

a news program about the charismatic church

9:34

as a whole, they would

9:36

call Wayne Miller. Meanwhile,

9:39

he was doing all kinds of fucking terrible

9:41

stuff behind the scenes. Two of his churches,

9:43

two of them burned down, two

9:45

of them. That's a lot of churches to burn. One

9:48

is weird. Two is

9:51

real weird. Interesting. That's the thing.

9:53

Real weird. How sad for them. I

9:55

mean, truly, because it's like, anyway. And

9:57

then on top of that, he was charged

9:59

federal. for labor violations,

10:01

for threatening immigrants and paying them

10:03

only $25 a week to work for him for

10:07

hours and hours, both at home and at his

10:09

church. So just kind of a monster, a piece

10:11

of shit. Terrible person, by

10:14

all accounts, an abuser through

10:16

and through, which like

10:18

you said a minute ago, the apple

10:20

doesn't fall far from the tree. Mm-hmm.

10:24

Susan Miller, ex-wife of Wayne, stated

10:27

in divorce filings that Wayne regularly

10:30

beat up J.P. Susan

10:32

said Wayne excused his behavior, quoting a

10:34

verse from the Bible. Spare

10:36

the rod, spoil the child. Later,

10:39

when he preached sermons of his own,

10:41

John Paul would often speak about his

10:43

childhood, saying that his family... Put

10:46

the funk in dysfunctional. Susan

10:49

also stated in her filings that

10:51

she had discovered Wayne had sexually

10:53

abused young male parishioners at his

10:55

church. Yeah, and

10:57

those are pretty damning divorce filings

11:00

that came out. She said her

11:02

world was crumbling when she found

11:04

all this out, as it would

11:06

be, especially because, disturbingly, Wayne also

11:08

had created this Cathedral Bible College,

11:11

and then on that campus of that Bible College, there was

11:13

a K through 12 school. So then

11:16

you start to have the church, and then

11:18

you try... It's like, what are all these

11:20

funnels of victims I can have? And for

11:22

victims both financially and also for the abuse

11:24

part of it. These

11:27

are allegations from the 80s, 90s, et cetera, that

11:31

have resurfaced now recently

11:33

with some parishioners

11:35

at a church in Pakistan who claim

11:37

that Wayne has

11:39

misappropriated funds and had inappropriate sexual

11:42

relationships with parishioners there, like as

11:44

recently as last August. I

11:47

believe in her filings, Susan also stated

11:49

that there was one night

11:51

where she woke up and couldn't find Wayne,

11:55

and then she went searching around the house and

11:58

found him locked in another bedroom. with

12:01

a young male parishioner.

12:03

It wasn't clear whether

12:06

what the age was exactly, but

12:09

suffice it to say most of

12:11

the people he abused were minors.

12:13

Yeah, and he also was the subject

12:16

of a television report, like a five-part

12:18

television news report where people were speaking

12:20

out against him and they had to

12:22

like blur their faces and everything. I

12:24

mean, it wasn't just, there were rumblings.

12:27

It was like this is a known

12:29

noted reported thing and then to have his son

12:32

emerge out of this. Yeah, and

12:34

also abusing

12:37

his own son under their roof as

12:39

well. During

12:42

his teenage years, John Paul, who

12:44

also goes by JP, spent

12:46

a lot of time playing piano in

12:48

both nightclubs and church, according to the

12:51

official church website for solid rock ministries.

12:54

The same site quotes JP as saying

12:56

that he always thought church was

12:58

for fake people who were one way in

13:00

public and another way behind closed doors. So

13:04

that's how you treat it. That

13:07

sounds like he's speaking from experience. Yeah, that's

13:09

one thing I won't argue with him about

13:11

as far as the way he

13:13

perceives all of this. He is

13:15

a person who repeatedly has told on himself

13:17

and will repeatedly tell on himself. And I

13:20

think I will put it, mark the date,

13:22

mark the time, come back to this timestamp

13:24

in 18 months, two

13:26

years, three years when he stands trial for

13:28

at least the first of

13:30

probably two or three trials. I believe that he'll stand

13:33

trial. It

13:35

will be, he will be hoisted on his own petard. I

13:37

think it will be his own words that will be used

13:39

against him, whether it's text, video, etc. He's

13:42

just too, he just

13:44

tells on himself too much and he thinks he's too smart and

13:46

he's much less smart than he thinks he is. In

13:49

1997, JP had a son named Logan

13:51

with a woman named Linda Hardy. Just

13:54

a year later, he pleaded no contest

13:56

to assault and battery in Orie County,

13:58

North Carolina. Reports reveal

14:01

JP struck a woman with his

14:03

vehicle twice, at high speed, driving

14:05

around 100 yards with her

14:07

on the hood. The victim's name

14:09

is not included in the public record, so it

14:11

is unclear if Hardy was the victim or if

14:14

it was a different woman. At

14:16

the time of the assault, JP allegedly

14:18

had black tape on his license plate

14:20

to hide his identity. For

14:22

this crime, JP received 500

14:25

hours of community service, several

14:27

years of probation, and a

14:29

four-year suspended sentence. In

14:32

2022, South Carolina pardoned him

14:34

for this, allowing him to buy a

14:36

gun. He wrote on the application

14:38

that it was his prerogative as a father

14:41

and a pastor and a husband that he

14:43

needed to protect himself and his family, so

14:45

he thought he should be forgiven for running

14:47

down a woman with a car twice and

14:49

driving the length of a football field with

14:52

her on the front of it. According to

14:54

his account, she jumped on the car and

14:56

refused to get off and was coming at

14:58

him, but, you

15:01

know, somebody's got a car and one person's

15:03

just standing there, so... somebody

15:06

seems like they probably have a lot more power

15:09

and dangerous ways

15:11

of hurting someone than the other. Absolutely,

15:13

and I'll reiterate the word twice. They

15:16

hit her twice. Again, much

15:19

like with your church is burning down, one

15:21

time it could be an accident.

15:23

Two times? Oh, that's...

15:25

that raises some red flags. Should be an

15:27

investigation. By

15:30

2000, JP had married Allison Williams,

15:33

or Allie, a nail technician at

15:35

a local day spa. That

15:37

year, JP found himself in legal trouble

15:40

again, this time in Illinois, where he

15:42

pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a

15:44

deadly weapon. Information related to

15:46

the victim or motive is not available.

15:49

In 2004, in the same state,

15:52

JP faced another charge, this time

15:54

for domestic battery, according to Law

15:56

and Crime. For undisclosed

15:58

reasons, the prosecution... the prosecutors chose not

16:00

to move forward with the case. Most

16:04

often you see that if a victim recants and

16:06

decides not to... Yeah. It

16:08

doesn't mean they did not have evidence, but

16:10

a victim could be coerced into

16:13

retracting their statement or threatened

16:15

into doing so. So

16:18

just because prosecutors don't move forward with

16:20

the case doesn't mean that they don't have

16:23

the evidence to. Following

16:26

in his father's footsteps, JP founded

16:29

his own church, Solid Rock Ministries,

16:31

in 2006. He

16:33

delivered his first sermon at the local library

16:35

to an audience of... His

16:38

family, a few friends, and

16:40

several former drug-related acquaintances. During

16:44

their marriage, JP and Allie had four children

16:46

and worked together for over ten years at

16:48

the church. Unbeknownst to

16:51

Allie, while they were married,

16:53

JP had multiple affairs and

16:55

sexually abused numerous miners that

16:57

attended Solid Rock. One

16:59

of these miners was Micah Miller, who began

17:01

attending Solid Rock with her family when she

17:03

was just 14 years old. Micah

17:07

Acacia Francis was born March 7, 1994,

17:10

in Wichita, Kansas, to Michael

17:12

Francis and Angelita Ramirez. At

17:16

an early age, Micah discovered her passion

17:18

for music, sharing her beautiful voice and

17:20

songwriting talents with anyone who would listen.

17:24

The official Justice for Micah GoFundMe

17:26

page says... On News

17:28

Nation, her sister Destiny said... She

17:48

was very loved by

17:50

all that knew her, even looking at

17:52

pictures of her online. Despite

17:55

the pain that in hindsight we

17:57

know she was going through at the time, she... She

18:00

always tried to have a smile on her face and

18:03

was just a beautiful, beautiful girl who had

18:06

her whole life ahead of her. More

18:09

of her life was spent under the

18:11

oppressive thumb of JP than it wasn't

18:13

at the time of her death. Yeah,

18:16

when you do the math, it's heartbreaking to go,

18:18

you never got an adulthood, you never got to

18:20

be a grownup. You got this stolen from you

18:22

by a person that you trusted that was your

18:25

pastor. It's horrifying. Yeah, her

18:27

best friend Charlotte Corn said, I

18:29

was lucky to be her friend. She said basically,

18:31

you felt lucky to know her because she would

18:33

bend over backwards to help you do, if you said my

18:35

dream is to do blah blah blah, she's like, we'll figure out

18:37

how to do it, let's find a person. She

18:40

was that giving to everybody and that giving,

18:42

giving, giving when you find a takeer, takeer,

18:44

takeer, that's when you kind of see the

18:46

life get sucked out of them. Yeah.

18:51

Sinisterhood would be right back. Oh,

18:55

well, you know, we all, it's that time of year,

18:57

I feel like I'm wearing sandals every day with my

18:59

cute skirts. I got a really cute skirt that I

19:01

was like, this is going to be my skirt of

19:03

the summer and so I'm going to have to have

19:05

my toes on display and I can't be having chipped

19:07

nail polish. So the

19:09

why go anywhere else other than Olive

19:12

and June for their nail polishes, which last

19:14

seven plus days. And if things

19:16

19:18

have to wait for a salon to open. I

19:45

for your toes, little things will spread

19:47

your toes apart. Everything's there. Everything you

19:49

need in one box, you just run and get it in the

19:51

other room and it's no big deal. And you

19:53

can do it any time of the day or

19:55

night. We suggest trying the Olive and June mani

19:58

20:02

20:04

20:06

fantastic. I don't just have the colors. I

20:08

20:10

21:11

2010 Micah, her siblings, and her

21:13

mom and stepdad moved to Myrtle

21:15

Beach, South Carolina. Three

21:17

years later when Micah was 14

21:20

the family joined Solid Rock Ministries

21:22

where J.P. was Micah's youth pastor.

21:25

According to later statements provided to police

21:27

by Micah it was at

21:29

this time J.P. began grooming her and

21:31

showing a romantic interest in her despite

21:34

him being 27 years old and

21:36

married to Allie at the time. 27 to

21:40

14 is not that's

21:44

not right it's not legal it's not

21:46

right which is an understatement to

21:49

um I mean what your

21:51

freshman in high school and somebody that's nearly

21:54

30. Breathing down the neck of 30. Is

21:56

taking an interest to you yeah showing a

21:58

sexual interest in you. It's

22:01

too much for any 14-year-old to handle.

22:03

How does anyone cope with something like

22:05

that? No, and it seems that's his

22:07

age. An ex-girlfriend of his has come

22:09

out publicly and said when he was

22:12

19 and she was 15, they

22:14

dated. And she said, well, I thought, you know, I'm

22:16

15, he's 19. She

22:18

says, obviously as an adult now, I'm

22:20

like, no, that's not right. And then

22:22

when you see the spread, lengthen and

22:24

lengthen and lengthen and lengthen, yeah, that

22:26

14-year age gap is significant and it

22:28

matters, especially when you are wanting

22:30

to find somebody that you can control. It

22:35

was around two years later when

22:37

Micah's dad, noticing concerning behavior from

22:39

the church leadership, pulled the

22:41

family from the church. Micah's

22:43

sister, Anna, told Fitz News. That's

22:46

whenever JP started isolating Micah, was when

22:48

our family left the church. Despite

22:51

her family leaving the congregation,

22:53

Micah continued attending. At

22:56

JP's encouragement. Oh

22:58

yeah, I mean, he was definitely trying to

23:00

isolate her and already had his claws in

23:03

her, which I'm

23:05

gonna say, of course, JP is

23:07

100% culpable in all of this. A

23:13

lot of the other church leadership is

23:15

culpable in my opinion as well. There was

23:17

a ton of people that were quote unquote

23:20

leaders there, his own personal

23:23

spiritual mentor, as well as tons

23:25

of people. At one point,

23:27

the congregation concluded 700 people and

23:31

so many of them knew what was going on.

23:34

Sometimes they would offer their support or help,

23:36

but many just looked the

23:38

other way because that was the message

23:40

that was preached at this church was

23:43

that women are their

23:45

husband's property and their job is to

23:47

serve their husband and be a wife

23:49

and a mother and not mate. Help

23:51

you or speak up about anything. You

23:54

have to be a helpmate. Helpmates

23:56

help their husbands. They don't go against them

23:58

even when their husband. are sex predators because

24:01

and especially when their husband will violently beat

24:03

the shit out of you. So yeah,

24:05

he kind of had everybody especially as the founder

24:07

of the church as well and sort of going

24:09

I'm kind of in charge here so what are

24:11

you gonna do about it? Yeah

24:13

they had these leaders in place but it

24:15

was very well known that he made all

24:17

the decisions. In 2012 when Micah was just

24:20

18 she

24:23

married fellow solid rock congregant

24:26

Jeremy Dees. As

24:28

pastor JP officiated the ceremony.

24:31

Court documents refer to Jeremy as

24:33

JP's right hand man. As

24:36

the newlyweds both worked at the church Ali,

24:39

JP's wife at the time, noted

24:41

that Jeremy and Micah became very close to

24:43

the family. Ali taught Micah

24:45

to drive, provided guidance and advice, and

24:47

worked with both Micah and Jeremy in

24:50

the church. The

24:52

grooming that Micah alleged began four years

24:55

earlier as a youth group member didn't

24:57

stop even though she was married.

25:00

JP found ways to spend time with

25:02

Micah, including through their work with the

25:04

church's music ministry. A

25:06

source close to Jeremy told the Daily Mail,

25:09

JP had a way of taking over someone

25:11

else's mind. Micah and Jeremy would spend a

25:13

lot of time at the Miller's house with

25:15

Ali and JP rehearsing the music for the

25:17

church. It seemed kind of suspicious that they'd

25:19

always be hanging out, always together. He always

25:22

had them around. It was like

25:24

JP did it underhandedly to subliminally

25:26

get into her mind. And

25:29

others said that JP would say, oh Jeremy,

25:32

you've got to go to this other city

25:34

drive like this several hours away or go

25:36

on this trip. And then to Micah go,

25:38

I can't believe he leaves you here all

25:41

by yourself. So lonely by yourself. Just gaslighting.

25:43

Like induced gaslighting. You're creating the situation that

25:45

you've been turning around and gaslighting about. That

25:48

is like psychopathy, where it's like you were

25:50

at a funeral, you're at your father's funeral

25:52

and then someone shows up and they're handsome.

25:54

Well, what do you do? Well, then you

25:57

kill your mother so that they'll show up

25:59

to the funeral. well it's like no no don't

26:01

do that that's only what a psychopath thinks to

26:03

say how do I get this girl alone I'll

26:05

lure her husband away from her. Any

26:08

means necessary. In an

26:11

affidavit filed last month JP's ex-wife

26:14

Ali recounted a tumultuous period at

26:16

Solid Rock in 2015. She discovered

26:18

JP was

26:21

cheating on her with Micah. Following

26:23

the unearthing of this betrayal, Allison

26:26

filed for divorce from JP on

26:28

September 14, 2015.

26:30

That same year Micah and Jeremy got divorced.

26:34

JP not only confessed to the

26:36

affair with Micah but also admitted

26:38

to having affairs with sex workers

26:40

and having inappropriate relationships with underage

26:42

female church members. He

26:44

blamed his behavior on sexual abuse he

26:47

suffered from his father Wayne Miller. When

26:49

Ali reported the child abuse to the

26:52

police they dismissed her claims telling

26:54

her that because of JP's status as

26:56

a well-known pastor and their ongoing divorce

26:59

no one would believe the claims unless

27:01

the victims came forward. Sadly

27:04

the victims of JP's abuse were too

27:06

scared to come forward themselves. I

27:09

realize this is 2015. I realize

27:12

it is a more conservative

27:14

smaller area but my

27:16

god if someone says there is a

27:18

serial sex abuser in my church I

27:21

don't care if it's his ex-wife I don't fucking

27:23

look into it. Yeah it definitely

27:25

seems like a good

27:28

old boy network where you

27:31

don't want to rock the boat

27:33

maybe you're in the same

27:35

boat maybe some people are scratching each other's

27:37

backs I don't know but oh I have

27:42

to have someone say to you

27:44

to say to a police

27:47

officer multiple children

27:50

have been abused by this man

27:52

and they say well unless

27:54

those kids come forward we can't really do

27:56

anything about it that there's

27:59

that is not at all how this should

28:01

work. Not at all, no. God, I didn't think

28:03

about what I just figured. Oh, you know, they

28:05

go to the church, they like him, but

28:07

there could be alternative motives for not

28:09

wanting to break up a person that

28:11

is, and she alleged, Allie, I believe

28:13

was that JP was given a special

28:16

badge or some sort of identification that

28:18

was like a pastor badge that if

28:20

he ever got pulled over, he could

28:22

show it to basically be like, I'm

28:24

good, right? Pastors aren't immune

28:26

from the law. No, that's not a thing, but it

28:28

sounds like they made it up. You know, it's like,

28:31

that's something a good old boy network does. Like we

28:33

got you in case, in case one of the new

28:35

guys pulls you over, just pull this out. According

28:38

to a statement provided to police by

28:40

Allie, leaders at solid rock attempted to

28:42

make JP step down from his role

28:44

in the church and seek counseling. JP

28:47

refused, telling the fellow leaders he

28:49

had 100% decision making

28:51

authority at solid rock. And

28:54

it's not just that that happened. He lied to

28:56

everyone, according to her affidavit and said, I have

28:59

these new bylaws. Look, you guys can all vote.

29:01

We're all equals. And then when they finally said,

29:03

okay, well, those bylaws said we can all vote.

29:05

He's like, Oh, I never signed those. They

29:08

don't exist. You have no power. I am

29:10

fully in charge. Well,

29:12

I wouldn't want to be a part of

29:14

a place that made me feel that way.

29:17

But it's certainly telling that, um, when

29:20

push comes to shove and he's told you

29:22

got to do something about these illegal

29:25

activities, he's like, nah.

29:28

And then everyone stays, not

29:30

everyone. A lot of people stayed. Some people did

29:32

leave. Some people saw the writing on the wall

29:34

and were like, we're getting out

29:36

of here. Again, you would

29:39

hope that the police department would see that

29:41

and it would help the case that Ali

29:43

is trying to present. But that is not

29:45

what happened. No, she said it splintered the

29:47

church and that a good portion of people

29:49

left, but you're right. Like a contingents of

29:51

people were like, it's cult like when you're

29:53

just obsessed with him, he would never do

29:55

that. She's making it up. One

29:58

of the, um, quotes I

30:01

read from a parishioner who

30:04

eventually did leave, but

30:06

not for a long time, said

30:08

one reason he did not go forward to

30:10

the police with the things he had heard

30:12

about the abuse was that he was also

30:15

a registered sex offender for

30:18

a abuse of a child when he

30:20

was in the military. And

30:22

so, you know, if you

30:24

know that your pastor is doing

30:27

things like that, and you know that you did

30:29

stuff like that, I'm

30:31

sure there's some comfort in finding people that

30:35

are like-minded that aren't

30:37

gonna judge you for what you're doing

30:40

because they are also doing it themselves.

30:43

Yeah, and I imagine if you said, I think

30:45

I'm gonna go report you pastor, the pastor would

30:47

be like, I'm gonna tell him you were around

30:49

kids too, and you're on the registry, and then

30:51

you know it's like, now I have something over

30:53

you. Oh yeah, that's who you want in the

30:55

leadership of your church. During

30:58

their divorce, JP allegedly harassed and

31:00

stalked Allie, moving in across the

31:02

street, pouring salt on her trees

31:04

to kill them, and following her

31:07

to work and church, according to

31:09

court records. To protect

31:11

herself and her children, Allie settled

31:13

the divorce with JP agreeing to

31:15

daytime-only visits with their daughter due

31:17

to his admitted child molestation. In

31:20

text messages, JP later tried to break

31:22

this arrangement and have overnight visits as

31:24

his daughter approached age 13. And

31:28

that's the fucked up thing is that Allie had this rule

31:30

which is in place and she didn't tell the kids why,

31:32

she's just like, you just don't sleep over there. And

31:34

then JP of his own accord told the daughter,

31:36

when you turn 13, maybe mom's heart will change,

31:38

and you and I can finally have a sleepover.

31:41

And the mom has to text back and go,

31:43

no, it doesn't matter. The age, that's not it,

31:45

it's never happening. Also mom's now the villain. Mom's

31:47

a bad guy if she doesn't let it happen.

31:49

And she said, and now I'm gonna have to

31:51

tell them, you molested a bunch of kids, and

31:53

that's why you can't, and he's like, I would

31:55

never hurt my own child in a million years.

31:58

Cool, cool, cool, so just someone else's. but

32:00

also bullshit. Why would I

32:02

believe that? I don't think that... Call

32:06

me crazy, but if someone's willing to

32:08

do that to a child, I don't

32:10

think their own child is off limits.

32:12

Is it possible that they wouldn't harm

32:14

their own child? Yeah, but is it

32:16

possible they would? 100%. At

32:20

the very least, you're

32:22

aware that your

32:25

ex-husband finds that age

32:28

sexually attractive and has had

32:31

sexual relations with minors of that age.

32:33

How could you then send your daughter

32:36

of that same age over there and

32:39

not just worry yourself

32:41

into a frenzy? Even if nothing happened...

32:43

The fact that he could

32:45

look at her with those same eyes is

32:48

enough to be like, nah, never. Yeah. Not a

32:50

million years. No, and he didn't do much in

32:52

the text to quell her fears, being like, it

32:55

doesn't matter what time of the day her visits

32:57

are. She's here regardless, and it's like, please don't

32:59

say things like that. Yeah. But

33:01

also, Holly was 100% right. That

33:04

is true also. And gross.

33:06

If I knew that my husband

33:09

had done

33:11

all of those things, I would

33:13

not be letting my kids go anywhere near

33:15

him. I don't care what time of the

33:18

day it is. Yeah, you feel bad for

33:20

it, because it sounded like... I believe in

33:22

South Carolina, if you do a no-fault divorce,

33:24

you have to wait for a year to

33:26

do a divorce. Or you can say, it

33:28

is a fault divorce due to physical cruelty

33:30

or due to infidelity or whatever, but it

33:32

has to essentially be brought out in a

33:35

trial. And it seems to me

33:37

like, Ali was like, for the safety of

33:39

my kids. I mean, he's like coming and

33:41

following her. She's going through a Peggy Clinky

33:43

type, like stalking situation of like popping up

33:45

places, her trees dying or whatever. And it

33:47

was like, okay, we're just going to say

33:49

it was no fault just so that we

33:51

can, it can be peaceful for the

33:54

kids, because I've seen what he's capable of. And you

33:56

just like got to have been backed up against such

33:58

a wall to have to make that. choice

34:00

and go, okay. Yeah.

34:03

But you're also capable of seeing what

34:05

he did to kids. And

34:07

your kids only have you to defend

34:11

them. So they're too young to say in a

34:13

court of law, they don't want to go over

34:15

there. So I understand your backs

34:17

against a wall, but

34:19

that includes being the one person that will

34:21

stand up for your kids to try and

34:23

do what's right. And I

34:26

think, Micah, having been their nanny, I

34:28

think was a little bit of help,

34:30

emotional help to go, well, at least Micah's

34:33

there. Yeah. Micah's

34:36

there sleeping with her

34:38

husband. Hot of her own

34:40

accord. She's also being abused,

34:42

you know? Mm-mm. Sinisterhood

34:46

will be right back. Oh,

34:49

well, today after I went for a run

34:51

out in the hot, hot heat, I went

34:53

and got in my shower and I was

34:55

like, I'm going to have a shower, like

34:57

a spa type shower with all my Athena

34:59

Club stuff. Not only do I have a

35:01

razor with the cloud foam, but I have

35:03

this exfoliating wash that they have as well.

35:05

And I was like, this is what I

35:08

long, just that kind of day you want

36:39

years of grooming and an affair, JP

36:41

and Micah married secretly before staging a

36:43

public ceremony in November of 2017 at

36:47

Solid Rock. According to

36:49

Micah's later attorney, Regina Ward, JP

36:52

had convinced Micah they first needed to

36:54

wed in secrecy in order for him

36:56

to be her caretaker for her after

36:58

her breast augmentation surgery, a

37:00

procedure Micah underwent at the insistence

37:02

of JP. I

37:05

had heard her dad say he forced her to have

37:07

a surgery and then he went and pressed to elaborate

37:09

her dad's side. You know, I don't want to elaborate

37:11

on it, but he forced her to do it, and

37:13

that's such a phrase to

37:15

say for, because I bet he did.

37:18

Oh yeah, it reminds me of that, not

37:22

the main guy from Tiger King, but the

37:24

other one that was on that documentary that

37:26

also forced one of his employees that he

37:28

was abusing to have breast

37:31

augmentation surgery because he thought it would bring

37:34

in more customers. Yeah,

37:36

anytime someone is making

37:39

anybody do something to their

37:41

body, they don't want to, undergoing a major

37:43

surgery like that, one,

37:46

you're telling that person, I don't

37:48

really like you the way you are, so you

37:50

got to change in order to please me. And

37:53

then a major surgery

37:55

is very hard on you,

37:57

emotionally, physically and everything. She

38:01

was forced to do

38:03

it. Yeah, and then the

38:06

aftermath. Yeah. After

38:10

the surgery, Micah allegedly had an

38:12

adverse reaction to the anesthesia. JP

38:15

claimed her behavior was so odd that she

38:17

had to be committed to a mental hospital.

38:20

It wasn't until Micah's family attempted to visit

38:22

her in the hospital that they learned of

38:24

her marriage to JP. When

38:27

they arrived, JP refused to let them

38:29

see her, an authority he had since

38:31

he convinced Micah to give him power

38:33

of attorney over her healthcare decisions. Having

38:36

Micah committed to psychiatric hospitals against

38:38

her will would become an abusive

38:41

pattern for JP. That's

38:43

what her family said. It just happened little

38:45

by little over a period of time until

38:47

you show up to the hospital one day

38:50

and it's like, surprise, we're secretly married. It's

38:52

like the youth pastor from 10 years

38:54

ago, from however long ago, when we brought

38:57

her there as a child, has now taken

38:59

her as his own bride? Like this is

39:01

a living fucking nightmare for this family. Oh

39:03

yeah, it's a living nightmare for her too.

39:05

Yeah. After

39:08

her release, Micah called the police on

39:10

at least five different occasions to report

39:12

JP's ongoing abuse. At

39:14

the same time, JP made an accusation of

39:17

his own when he told police that Micah

39:19

was stealing from the church. That

39:21

case was closed after Micah proved the

39:23

allegations were false. In

39:25

an interview with News Nation, Micah's

39:28

father, Michael Francis, and one of

39:30

her sisters, Destiny, described to Ashley

39:32

Banfield how Micah changed during her

39:34

marriage to JP. Her

39:36

father explained, he sucked a life right out of

39:38

her and caused her to go downhill. Michael

39:42

claimed JP forced the surgery on Micah

39:44

against her will. Destiny said

39:46

that her sister changed during her marriage

39:48

with JP, becoming more withdrawn the longer

39:51

they were together. And

39:53

the really egregious thing was that JP

39:55

would then talk about these episodes publicly

39:57

in the sermon and would say several

39:59

times. The first three weeks of me and

40:01

Micah's marriage, you know, she was locked up in a

40:03

mental facility. It's like just putting it out there. He

40:06

spilled their tea,

40:08

which was not even

40:10

real. He's making up

40:13

these things about her and having her

40:15

committed. But then, yeah, using that against

40:17

her in front

40:19

of hundreds of people, that she is

40:21

also attending this church. She knows all

40:23

these people. She leads the women's ministry.

40:25

She sings all the time. So she's

40:27

very entrenched in his friends with

40:30

a ton of these people. And then every

40:33

Sunday, he gets up there and

40:35

tells them how she's struggling mentally.

40:37

She's unwell. She's unfit, blah, blah,

40:39

blah. She should be on lithium.

40:41

I mean, just stuff that is

40:43

nobody's business. And he's using

40:46

it against her. And also to paint this picture

40:48

of she's so unstable.

40:50

She's suicidal. Don't believe anything

40:52

she says. She's crazy.

40:56

You can't trust what comes out of her mouth. You

40:58

can't believe it. And to be fair, every

41:01

single family member, I've seen interviews with her

41:03

parent, her dad, and all

41:05

of her, multiple of her sisters. Everybody

41:07

has said she did not have mental

41:09

health issues until she met JP. She

41:12

never had struggled with depression. She never

41:14

mentioned that she had any signs, symptoms,

41:16

complaints, never was Medicaid, never anything. And

41:18

suddenly, JP forces her to have a

41:20

breast augmentation. And he's like, she's got

41:23

bipolar. I've decided she's got bipolar.

41:26

JP had worked to isolate Micah from her

41:28

family from the very start. Destiny

41:31

told News Nation that JP continually

41:33

texted Micah when she was a

41:35

teen, helped her get a car, gave

41:37

her fake stories to use to get her

41:39

away from her family, and found church families

41:41

for Micah to stay with. That

41:44

isolation extended into her adulthood

41:46

and their marriage. Micah's

41:48

immediate family knew they could not bring up

41:50

JP in any negative light, or they would

41:53

be cut off from their sister. Multiple

41:55

family members used the word brainwashed

41:59

to describe. Micah's perspective on JP.

42:02

And he was always around. Like if they

42:04

tried to have, hey, we're gonna have like

42:06

a sister lunch, he'd be like, okay, I'll

42:08

be there. And they're like, oh, you were

42:11

not invited to that. Don't think you're a

42:13

sister. He's also been grooming her

42:15

in her life since she was 14 years

42:17

old. So at

42:19

this point, he's so entrenched that it's,

42:23

if you know that if you bring anything

42:25

up, you're gonna lose contact with her. At

42:27

the same time, you're well aware that he's

42:30

abusing her. So again, it's like,

42:32

well, what do you do? I mean, you would

42:35

feel like your hands were tied, I'm sure. So

42:38

everybody was like, we just tried to do whatever we could

42:40

to keep that line open because we always wanted to be

42:43

a safe space for her to come back to. Her

42:47

sister, Ana, explained to Fitz News how

42:49

JP would keep constant control of her

42:51

Micah's life via her cell phone. The

42:54

sisters were close, going out to lunch

42:56

weekly. JP would sometimes show

42:58

up at lunch unannounced and uninvited. Micah

43:01

explained to her sister how JP could

43:03

track her movement with her phone's location.

43:06

Ana told Fitz News, JP

43:08

popping by unexpectedly happened. Many

43:11

times. And that's

43:13

just so eerie that you're just thinking that

43:15

you're having a regular day and then your

43:18

abusive spouse shows up. Yeah,

43:20

I'm sure that it's

43:24

uncomfortable for everyone there. It's,

43:26

you know, with technology, you

43:28

can find somebody's

43:30

phone, share your location, whether she wanted

43:32

to or not. I'm sure that wasn't

43:34

a choice she got to make, but

43:38

you know, if he knows where she is

43:40

at every moment of the day, just

43:42

popping by and it's just that continued

43:45

abuse of letting someone know, I

43:48

always know where you are and I can always

43:50

show up. You don't have any

43:52

free time or down, like time

43:55

that is just for you. Like I'm involved

43:57

in every facet of your life and you

43:59

should know that. Yeah, and

44:01

it's like you think you're having

44:03

independence, but there's no such thing

44:06

as independence. Yes, you have

44:08

no autonomy. In

44:10

2021, JP started having an affair

44:13

with Susie Skinner, the mother of

44:15

his children's soccer teammate. Her

44:17

husband, Christopher Skinner, was an

44:19

inspirational author who became paralyzed

44:21

two decades prior. In

44:24

early September of 2021, Christopher

44:26

discovered his wife's affair with JP. According

44:30

to court documents filed by Allie

44:32

Williams, Christopher told JP to stay

44:35

away from my wife and kids. Two

44:38

weeks later, Christopher was at a community

44:40

pool early in the morning, planning to

44:43

meet someone to play chess when his

44:45

wheelchair went into the pool, and he

44:47

drowned in what authorities ruled was an

44:50

accident. I was able

44:52

to see the police report, and he arrived

44:54

at the pool, asked a neighbor to open it up for

44:57

him, and entered the pool area at

44:59

like 752 a.m., started headed toward the chess set. He

45:03

had his dog with him, but then he

45:05

went around the pool with his dog. He

45:08

stopped sort of at a curve at its

45:11

edge when the police report said suddenly

45:13

the wheelchair accelerated at a high rate

45:15

of speed and fell into the pool

45:17

at 756 a.m. I

45:21

don't know if I was misreading the police report,

45:23

but it seemed the police report seemed to indicate

45:25

that the footage cut from 756 a.m. It

45:28

stopped, and the footage didn't start again

45:31

until an hour later when EMTs were

45:33

on the scene performing life-saving measures. Hmm.

45:36

As if someone had deleted

45:39

an hour's worth of footage? I

45:41

don't know where the footage is. If there is

45:43

footage from 756 on to 856 because

45:46

I believe it was discovered around 830, then

45:48

the authorities had to come and all that.

45:51

But within four minutes, he pulled into the pool

45:53

area at 752 and by 756, it's like a

45:56

strange scene. movement

46:00

of the wheelchair that he ended up in

46:02

the water. I would

46:05

think that the film

46:08

before that would be the

46:10

one to be erased. I would also

46:12

like to know who he was supposed to meet to

46:14

play chess. Why was he told to meet there? Who

46:16

was he meeting with? Yeah,

46:18

it's very sad for his children that

46:22

he left two kids behind in

46:26

what was ruled an accident. But

46:28

I think this is something that is going

46:30

to be perhaps reinvestigated with all

46:32

of this other stuff coming out. Yeah, it

46:34

starts to give sort of a Gloria Satterfield

46:37

feeling. You know where it's like there's

46:39

this isn't the first strange death that

46:41

was around it. For what it's worth, Susie

46:43

Skinner claims to this day that she and

46:45

JP are just friends. They

46:47

are not dating and they never have is what

46:49

she claimed despite the photos of them on dates

46:51

together, which she said aren't dates. They're just dinners.

46:55

Yeah, dinners where you sit on the

46:57

same side of the booth as the

47:00

person that isn't your husband and are

47:02

real close and even days

47:05

after a tragedy. Just

47:07

laughing it up. Yeah, yeah. And

47:11

apparently sharing blankets and snacks together at the

47:13

kids soccer games in front of everyone. So

47:16

that's what you do with people that you're just friends with and not dating. I

47:19

will be God damned if

47:22

I or Tommy ever share a

47:24

blanket with

47:27

someone at one of our kids games of like

47:29

that's not your spouse. No, no, or like a

47:31

friend or something. But

47:35

like if

47:38

I don't know, like it's it's what's

47:41

wild is. Okay,

47:44

she says they're not having an affair. Okay.

47:46

He said they were so we you

47:48

know, and so did Christopher. So I'm going

47:51

to say for argument's sake, they were having

47:53

an affair at that

47:55

point. You're not

47:57

even trying to hide it like you're going.

48:00

out to lunch and dinners

48:02

by yourself together. There's photos of

48:04

that. You're sharing blankets at

48:07

the soccer games. Like it's

48:10

as if- Allegedly. Allegedly.

48:13

It's as if he, and

48:15

perhaps she just don't really give a fuck if

48:17

people know. And I mean, I think that's kind

48:19

of how he's lived his whole life. It's just,

48:22

I do what I want. If people find out about

48:24

it, nothing's going to happen. So what

48:27

does it matter? I'll figure out how to spin

48:29

it or I'll just cut them out

48:31

and find a new congregation. Who cares? Fuck them. I'll

48:33

do what I want. The tumultuous relationship

48:35

continued throughout the next few years.

48:37

Text sent to JP by Micah's

48:40

best friend, Charlotte Corn, revealed a

48:42

distraught JP trying to track Micah

48:44

down after she left him to

48:46

separate. He used swear words

48:49

at Charlotte, who had suggested Micah call

48:51

in a wellness check for JP after

48:53

he threatened suicide. Charlotte

48:56

said she came to me going, he said he's

48:58

going to kill himself. His blood's on my hands.

49:00

What do I do? And Charlotte's like, well, what

49:02

can you do? You might just call a wellness

49:04

check. Maybe police can, and then he writes to

49:06

Charlotte, fucking bitch, call the cops on me. Whatever

49:10

he wants to say. And for

49:12

his lawyer said he's never abused

49:14

anyone. Okay, well he was convicted.

49:17

So yeah, he did. And

49:19

then he would never, and I'm like, he's

49:21

using abusive language towards women in these fucking

49:23

messages. Shut up. Either

49:26

say- Text her forever, you dip shit. How

49:28

can you say he's never abused somebody? Like

49:30

it's- He admits to shit. There's a ton

49:32

of proof. Yes. We're about, this

49:34

is the beginning of the receipts, y'all buckle

49:36

the fuck up, because this is where it

49:38

starts to be screenshot after screenshot after screenshot.

49:40

And apparently he is a very prolific texter.

49:42

Someone's like, he once texted a hundred people

49:44

in like five minutes. He's just like- Oh,

49:46

I see. Because I think he has just

49:48

this, I don't know if it's like an

49:50

impulse or something, but he, like I said

49:52

earlier, cannot shut the fuck up. And so

49:54

a text message will hang him. Like this,

49:57

that will be, he's messaged something somewhere or

49:59

said something somewhere. because he was,

50:01

I mean, he's writing this stuff of like, long

50:04

messages of like, you're ruining my

50:06

marriage. You could just see these

50:08

like page long diatribes misspelled THRU,

50:10

the letter U, the

50:12

number two, just like complete chaos

50:14

at her friend. And it's like,

50:16

that's so crazy and embarrassing. Yeah.

50:19

And he does it, I think probably in part to

50:21

embarrass her. Oh yeah.

50:24

And to, I mean, one

50:26

would think twice probably before going back

50:28

to Charlotte and saying something knowing this

50:30

is what happened. You also

50:32

would feel like, well, I

50:34

said something, so now Charlotte's being abused and

50:36

talked to like this. So, which

50:40

he is very good at gaslighting

50:43

and placing the blame back on his victims.

50:45

Like, well, you made me do

50:47

this type of attitude. Right. And

50:50

that's a good point too, is that oftentimes when

50:52

the abuser has beaten down the victim so much,

50:54

they want to harm people close to them. And

50:56

Micah did not have children. So is he

50:59

going to then say, okay, I'm going to lash out at your friend then? Mm-hmm.

51:04

During one of JP and Micah's separations,

51:06

JP dated an adult daughter from one

51:08

of the families that attended Solid Rock.

51:11

When confronted, he blamed his quote

51:14

ungodly actions on bipolar disorders

51:16

that were a result of

51:18

his tumultuous marriage to Micah.

51:21

The family ended up leaving the church

51:23

and JP faced zero consequences. A

51:26

former member who left the church a week

51:28

after Micah's death told the Post

51:30

and Courier about the general feeling around

51:32

the church. The atmosphere was that

51:34

if there was a problem, all

51:36

you can really do is leave and leave

51:38

quietly. Which is true

51:41

because parishioners that went to other churches, he

51:43

would call the church and try to sabotage

51:45

their new relationship at a new church. Probably

51:47

in case the parishioner went, yeah, I had

51:49

to leave Solid Rock because JP was like

51:51

openly cheating on his wife and he called

51:53

one of the other ministers the fucking bitch

51:55

in this text message I saw. So then,

51:57

before I get to the other church, JP.

51:59

He would call and go, you know, Heather's crazy

52:01

by the way. We actually had to kick her

52:04

out of solid rock. If she says she left

52:06

on her own, she actually, so he's purposely doing

52:08

these actions to people who did nothing but leave

52:10

his church. You can only imagine when he did,

52:13

whenever his wife did anything that displeased him,

52:15

you saw like a tiny fraction of the

52:17

abuse that these people who were just like

52:20

literal bystanders suffered. And it was the

52:22

same whenever the 2015 scandal

52:24

happened. They said, well, forgiveness is part of

52:26

Christianity. So you have to forgive us. You

52:29

have to forgive me. So is not cheating. I'm pretty

52:31

sure that's one of the commandments, isn't it? Yeah, and

52:33

so is crucifixion. So let's get on that with him.

52:35

Nope, just kidding. We saved that for the good guys,

I guess. I don't know. I don't

know enough about religion. Cut that, not really. Leave it in,

53:52

when she needs to escape JP's abuse. On

53:55

one of these occasions, JP sent

53:57

threatening texts to Sierra, including one.

54:00

that said he was going to show up at

54:02

her front door writing, I'm armed,

54:04

I'm ready. And he

54:06

sent him on Snapchat, which shows me that

54:08

he uses Snapchat, which makes

54:10

me wonder if he thinks that those messages go

54:12

away, which makes me want to say, hi, JP

54:14

Miller, my name's Heather, and I'm going to teach

54:17

you about the Internet today. Those messages don't go

54:19

away. Nope. And he's to

54:21

me, that reads like it's pretty threatening.

54:23

I'm armed, I'm ready. So you're showing

54:25

up with a gun and you're ready

54:27

to do what? And she said,

54:29

well, the police are on their way, so stay home.

54:31

But it was it's like including this whole their whole

54:33

family in it to almost make her feel like, well,

54:36

now my poor sisters are having to go through. Oh,

54:38

yeah. I shouldn't even go to their house because it's

54:40

dragging them into it. If you've

54:43

if he makes it clear that

54:45

he's willing to hurt friends, family,

54:47

anyone, that's just more isolation and

54:49

also more abuse to her of

54:51

like, well, then I don't

54:53

want to involve other people because I'm worried that they'll

54:55

get hurt. Throughout

54:59

the abuse, Micah tried sticking it

55:01

out. But according to journals obtained

55:03

by her divorce attorney, things became

55:05

too unbearable. And a

55:08

list read aloud at a press

55:10

conference. Micah's attorney, Regina Ward, described

55:12

in general terms the types of

55:14

abuse Micah was allegedly subjected to

55:16

during their marriage. Ward

55:18

described general emotional abuse, such as JP

55:20

ignoring requests by Micah to leave her

55:23

alone and go away. She

55:25

alleged cruelty to pets, as well

55:27

as destruction of property. Including slashing

55:29

tires and keying cars. Disturbingly,

55:32

Ward also revealed that Micah's

55:35

journals discussed technological abuse, including

55:38

controlling a victim's car remotely, like

55:40

the temperature and breaks. Text

55:43

messages obtained by news outlets showed that

55:45

JP would give Micah permission to do

55:47

something or be on his property. Then

55:50

he would call police and report her for breaking

55:52

the law. Regina Ward

55:54

calls this misuse of law enforcement.

55:58

As for physical cruelty, Ward claims that claims

56:00

Micah retained evidence of physical abuse

56:02

that did not leave marks, including

56:04

shoving her against walls, choking, and

56:06

holding her down. Co-workers

56:09

at the J. Peters restaurant, where

56:11

Micah worked, told Magnolia Investigates that

56:13

Micah often wore long-sleeved shirts at

56:15

work to hide the bruises left

56:17

on her by J.P. And

56:21

Regina Ward gets to go in the

56:23

Kathleen Zellner Lawyer Lady Hall of Fame

56:25

because at this press

56:27

conference where this

56:29

information was revealed, she

56:31

sort of said, these are just

56:34

merely allegations from Micah's journals, J.P. denies them

56:37

all, and then she listed over 16 things

56:39

of specific types, and this is just

56:42

a fraction of them. But

56:44

what really stood out to me was the

56:46

idea of controlling someone's car while they're driving

56:48

in it remotely. We don't think about that.

56:50

When you have remote start, remote lock, remote

56:52

whatever, someone else, evil, has

56:54

that remote. It's terrifying. Yeah,

56:56

that somebody could just put on

56:59

the brakes in the middle of you driving or

57:01

turn up the

57:03

heat to where you can't control it. And, you

57:06

know, I mean, that's a form of abuse

57:08

used even like by the government in,

57:11

you know, interrogating terrorists

57:13

and stuff. Make people uncomfortable as hell

57:15

until they finally break. Right.

57:18

And again, it's showing even when

57:20

you're not here, I'm with you. Mm-hmm.

57:23

No, it does. And it's just such a

57:25

long list and it shows it is every possible aspect

57:27

of the life from him saying, yeah, you can come

57:29

over and then call in the cops and go, and

57:32

she's trespassing. She's stalking me, misusing the

57:34

light, intimidating her with law enforcement

57:36

that maybe were his friends. He

57:38

would file family law actions and

57:40

drop them, send her cease and

57:42

desist letters, it seemed like, threaten

57:44

her with lawyers, stealing her identity,

57:47

controlling her Facebook, making her take

57:49

medicine that she wasn't prescribed, denying

57:51

medical treatment when she was injured, as well as

57:53

like the spiritual abuse of being in a church,

57:55

but also job abuse. Apparently, he would randomly get

57:57

mad at her and fire her from the So

58:00

she would have to go work at J.Peters because

58:02

you go Oh, she's like the worship minister and

58:04

like the first lady of this multi-million dollar church

58:07

that has like over five million dollars of assets

58:09

It has a plane it has untold numbers of

58:11

cars Why is the lead

58:13

woman working at a restaurant and

58:15

it's like oh because her husband would randomly go

58:17

you're fired So things like that

58:19

where you control their money. Yeah, I mean just

58:21

every aspect of her life is Horrible.

58:25

Yeah, he had his claws and every single part

58:27

of it and it all sucked On

58:30

October 8th 2023 Micah filed for

58:33

divorce. She went to stay with her

58:35

sisters for a while Snapchat

58:37

messages between her sister Sierra and

58:39

JP from around that time show

58:41

that he was not happy with

58:43

the arrangement He threatened suicide

58:45

in text to Micah released

58:47

by Sierra. They read in part

58:50

My blood is on you and my kids will

58:52

know all you had to do was come home

58:54

to me But you don't even care that much

58:56

about me All you had to do is love

58:59

me enough to drive home to me, but you

59:01

don't even care that much about me I love

59:03

you. I'm sorry If you come home today, we

59:05

can take off the rest of the year and

59:07

go to counseling every day Go to Iceland do

59:09

whatever in order to get well. I also desperately

59:11

want a child with you. I'm just scared of

59:13

this This is the only reason I wouldn't I'm

59:15

scared of divorce or putting the child through things

59:17

like this where you leave me and aren't willing

59:19

to do whatever it takes Well,

59:22

that's a lot to unpack and

59:24

to that I would say Like

59:26

leave me the fuck out of this. Yeah,

59:29

go do everybody a favor and Just

59:32

get you know, I there's

59:35

so much gaslighting

59:38

and blame put here and then Introducing

59:41

like you can see the manicness in

59:43

this of first it starts out He's

59:45

threatening suicide and then within a beat

59:48

it switches to I want to have

59:50

a kid with you But I can't

59:52

because you're the one that's

59:54

not gonna you know We can't raise a

59:57

kid because you're not willing to love me

59:59

enough. Okay Yeah, let's go to Isla. It's

1:00:01

so all over the place. Every

1:00:03

message from him is desperate, freakish.

1:00:05

It's like, I can't sleep alone. You're

1:00:08

not here, I'm so alone. And

1:00:11

you're like, no, you're not. You're hiring a

1:00:13

sex worker to come over and have sex

1:00:16

with you, or you're abusing and having sexual

1:00:18

relations with somebody else from the church. Rarely

1:00:21

are you alone. You just,

1:00:23

I'm not there, and so you're flipping out that

1:00:25

you don't have control over me right this second,

1:00:28

and you're doing anything you can to pull me

1:00:30

back in. Yeah, that's, he

1:00:32

I think was struggling and

1:00:34

scrambling because

1:00:37

I think late 2023, it looked like

1:00:39

she was for real. Like she was

1:00:41

finally ready. And he, I'm

1:00:43

sure, could sense a change

1:00:46

in the situation. You

1:00:48

know, could tell like, oh, yeah,

1:00:51

she's finally fed the fuck up. So

1:00:54

he dialed it up even more. JP

1:00:57

secretly transferred ownership of their house to

1:00:59

his church in late December of 2023.

1:01:03

In a voicemail that Micah allegedly left

1:01:05

for JP in early February, she

1:01:07

asks for a paper trail

1:01:10

to be able to handle church finances

1:01:12

if JP is ever incapacitated. Micah

1:01:15

later told her brother Nate, she had

1:01:17

legal documents drawn up that would give

1:01:19

Nathaniel the authority to make decisions for

1:01:21

her wellbeing. Nate later said

1:01:23

in an affidavit, however, those documents

1:01:26

were not located. The only legal

1:01:28

documents discovered appointed Mr. Miller as

1:01:30

her power of attorney. This

1:01:33

is conjecture, but what I think happened is that

1:01:36

they were apart sort of from

1:01:39

October, November, December, January, February, and

1:01:41

she was starting to see the

1:01:43

writing on the wall and was like, hey,

1:01:46

what's, who's

1:01:49

in charge? She literally said in the thing,

1:01:51

I need to know the paper trail. Who's

1:01:53

in charge if you're ever mentally unable or

1:01:55

unfit to run the church? We've got a

1:01:57

lot of assets, a lot of money to

1:01:59

guard. This is not our money, it's God's

1:02:01

money. Whose money was that before God? He put

1:02:03

it in the pockets of people and then those

1:02:06

people gave it to us and entrusted us with

1:02:08

God's money in God's house to do as God

1:02:10

wishes. But I don't know who steers the

1:02:12

boat anymore and that concerns me. I'd like a paper

1:02:14

trail. So among other things, it

1:02:17

was like a longer voicemail. So

1:02:20

she asked for legal documents and then

1:02:22

he gets an attorney to draw legal

1:02:24

documents that puts him in charge. Wasn't

1:02:28

he already her power of attorney? Yeah, he already

1:02:30

had that, yes. And I

1:02:32

think she wanted power of attorney over him and he

1:02:34

did not have those. From what

1:02:36

I have seen, those don't exist. I think

1:02:38

it sounds like she may have gotten some

1:02:40

legal advice and just

1:02:43

from the language used even within to know

1:02:45

about a paper trail and assets

1:02:48

and stuff. Maybe she

1:02:50

got some legal advice from someone that was like,

1:02:52

well, this is the first step you need to

1:02:54

do. And she tried

1:02:56

as hard as she could to do that. And

1:02:59

I'll ask our listeners to look at the

1:03:01

timing that she asked for a paper trail

1:03:03

supposedly on February 6th. From

1:03:07

February 8th through 10th, Micah

1:03:09

was again involuntarily committed to

1:03:11

a psychiatric facility with

1:03:13

JP alleging she was a harm to herself.

1:03:16

After she was released, Micah's sister,

1:03:18

Anna, alleges that the check-in nurse

1:03:20

later apologized for admitting Micah, claiming

1:03:23

they only did so after JP

1:03:25

insisted she was a danger to

1:03:27

herself. Two days after

1:03:29

her release on February 12th, Micah

1:03:31

withdrew her October divorce filing. However,

1:03:34

JP apparently still had control over

1:03:37

her digital assets. Before

1:03:40

she was hospitalized, Micah was gathering,

1:03:42

quote, evidence to bring to a

1:03:45

divorce attorney, which allegedly supported her

1:03:47

claims of John Paul's abuse, character,

1:03:49

and associates he paid off or

1:03:52

blackmailed, according to her

1:03:54

sister, Sierra. When Micah left

1:03:56

the facility, those documents, emails, and

1:03:58

files were removed. removed from her

1:04:00

phone and laptop. Additionally, her

1:04:03

vehicle and purse were never recovered,

1:04:05

per the affidavit. Micah

1:04:07

was also reportedly not able to

1:04:10

access her iCloud account, email, or

1:04:12

Facebook profile. During that

1:04:14

time, JP used at least one

1:04:16

of Micah's accounts, causing any recipient

1:04:18

to believe they were communicating with

1:04:21

Micah. Yeah, she apparently

1:04:23

met up with, I believe she thought she

1:04:25

was meeting with a different pastor at a

1:04:27

Walmart to get some medication, and when she

1:04:29

got there, it was an ambush. JP

1:04:32

snatched her, and then my

1:04:34

thing is, he's just like, she's involuntarily committed. Look at

1:04:37

her, she was in there for two days. What

1:04:39

several folks have said, medical professionals

1:04:42

in South Carolina, and our listeners, I would love

1:04:44

for you to write in if you have any

1:04:46

knowledge of this, that it is fairly easy to

1:04:48

call what they were calling pickup orders to say,

1:04:50

hey, this person's a danger to themselves, and that

1:04:52

this 48 hour hold is

1:04:54

pretty standard for somebody that doesn't have anything going on

1:04:57

that can be released that clearly isn't a danger. Had

1:04:59

she really, truly been a danger, it would have been

1:05:01

a week, or three weeks, or whatever, but for him

1:05:03

to kind of go, oh, look at

1:05:05

her, she's committed again. It's like you tricked her and

1:05:08

had her put there. Yeah,

1:05:10

absolutely. On

1:05:12

February 21st, Micah made a

1:05:15

police complaint about a stolen vehicle

1:05:17

after being discharged from the involuntary

1:05:19

hospital stay. She met with

1:05:21

police in the Coastal Grand Mall parking lot to

1:05:23

report the theft of her car. She

1:05:26

had been hospitalized between February 8th

1:05:28

and February 10th, and told officers

1:05:30

she believed JP committed her to

1:05:32

steal the vehicle. While

1:05:34

making this report, Micah also told

1:05:36

officers that JP groomed her as

1:05:38

a teen. The

1:05:41

suspect's identity is redacted in both reports,

1:05:43

but Micah said she- Notice strange

1:05:46

activity in what she believes is people

1:05:48

following or watching her. Micah

1:05:50

also told officers that the suspect-

1:05:53

Has a history of similar actions

1:05:55

against her. And he later

1:05:57

admitted, yes, he had GPS trackers put on her

1:05:59

car. a private eye

1:06:01

that he hired, track her, and put,

1:06:03

follow her, and put trackers on her car. So

1:06:06

again, she could look to the police like she's

1:06:08

maybe a little crazy. There's people following me. No!

1:06:10

Her fucking husband hired people to follow her! And

1:06:13

instead of looking into that as abuse,

1:06:16

they are taking his side of, well, I'm having

1:06:18

to do it because she's unstable and I gotta

1:06:21

know where she is, or she could just, you

1:06:23

know, do anything at any

1:06:25

time. She could just kill herself. I don't

1:06:27

know what she's capable of. You're right. And

1:06:29

Regina Ward said, you know, as the cops,

1:06:31

they're gonna go, this is a domestic thing.

1:06:33

You gotta go, you gotta go call your

1:06:35

family law attorney. This is kind of a

1:06:37

domestic thing. And it's like, no, it's fucking

1:06:39

not. It's stalking. And maybe more someday. Oh,

1:06:41

more than stalking, yeah. I mean, full-blown abuse

1:06:43

1:07:56

couple entered into a post-nuptial agreement,

1:07:58

according to Micah's attorney. A

1:08:01

week later, JP attempted to turn the tables

1:08:03

when he filed for separation from Micah on

1:08:05

February 22. The

1:08:07

separation action was dismissed by the court on March

1:08:10

12. The

1:08:12

day before the separation was dismissed, Micah

1:08:14

had made the first of two more

1:08:17

police reports after her second vehicle's tire

1:08:19

was found slash near Spring Maid Pier,

1:08:21

the report said. The

1:08:23

second complaint, filed hours later, came after

1:08:26

Micah took her vehicle to East Coast

1:08:28

Honda on Highway 17 Bypass

1:08:30

to have the tire repaired. Video

1:08:33

footage obtained by News Nation shows

1:08:35

JP arriving at East Coast Honda,

1:08:38

apparently wearing house slippers. He

1:08:40

storms up and tells Micah that photos

1:08:42

will be posted on Facebook soon. A

1:08:45

distraught sounding Micah asks him to just

1:08:47

walk away. It is unclear

1:08:49

what photos JP was referring to. However,

1:08:52

JP uploaded at least one explicit photo

1:08:54

of Micah to the internet for revenge.

1:08:57

He later admitted to doing so in

1:08:59

a text apologizing. Yeah,

1:09:01

it's you can hear the upset in her voice and

1:09:03

to have your husband, a strange

1:09:05

husband wander up in slippers when you again,

1:09:08

so I haven't told him, haven't told him

1:09:10

where you're at that he put a huge

1:09:12

razor blade in your tire. You go to

1:09:14

your old job to get it fixed and

1:09:16

he shuffles up yelling about Facebook pictures. Yes.

1:09:19

And the picture he had put up on

1:09:22

her was a topless picture of her, which

1:09:24

he admitted in a text message that he

1:09:26

did and said, well, it's only up for

1:09:28

an hour. So you know,

1:09:30

and we're all about forgiveness, bitch, go

1:09:33

fuck yourself. An hour,

1:09:35

you know how long it takes for somebody to

1:09:37

look at something and take a screenshot and

1:09:39

share it with people at one second. And

1:09:42

that goes to everybody that thinks like, oh,

1:09:44

I can just post something. I

1:09:47

don't have that many friends, not that many people are going

1:09:49

to see it. It's just up for a minute. Once

1:09:52

it's up, it is up. Forever,

1:09:54

somewhere, you know, it doesn't

1:09:56

get it. You cannot erase something

1:09:59

from the internet. No, like you

1:10:01

said, it's untold amounts of saves that you

1:10:03

can't even fathom how many people saved it.

1:10:05

And again, it's his attorney going, my client

1:10:08

has never done anything abusive to this person.

1:10:10

It's like, my dude, you are losing credibility,

1:10:12

shut up. He should lose his law license.

1:10:14

Yeah, I'm like, phrase your shit clear because

1:10:16

your client texted it. Don't make any large

1:10:19

statements about JP Miller unless you've read every

1:10:21

text he sent. Like you can't just say

1:10:23

that because you don't know that he apologized

1:10:25

going, yeah, I did it. During

1:10:29

a sermon on March 10th, JP

1:10:31

admitted that he looked through two years

1:10:33

of messages on Micah's phone. He

1:10:35

was irritated that at least 18 people had

1:10:38

reached out to her, offering to talk if

1:10:40

she ever wanted to leave JP. He

1:10:42

claimed, that's a demon talking. And

1:10:45

when Christian women want to talk to others about

1:10:47

who has hurt them, they should talk

1:10:49

to Jesus according to the Post

1:10:51

and Courier. And that's the

1:10:54

Post and Courier reporting on him. I don't

1:10:56

think the Post and Courier believes that about

1:10:58

Christian women. No. But yeah, I

1:11:00

mean, but that's the

1:11:02

sermons that they were receiving. So, you've

1:11:05

got a congregation that's being told

1:11:09

what goes on behind closed doors is between

1:11:11

a man and his wife. And if

1:11:13

you want to talk about something, you should talk to your

1:11:16

pastor, to Jesus. And also

1:11:19

threatening the people who are

1:11:21

amongst the congregation that he's like, by

1:11:23

the way, I know that you

1:11:25

have been talking to her and said that you would

1:11:27

help her. So now you're scared that he's

1:11:30

gonna come after you and you know what he's capable

1:11:32

of, to a degree, you have

1:11:34

no idea what he's really capable of though. Yeah,

1:11:36

not yet. But no, you're right. Like that's sort

1:11:38

of an implicit thing of like, oh, you're when

1:11:40

a text, well, when I get my next wife,

1:11:42

because he later said he wanted to get a

1:11:44

hot wife who loves Jesus while still wearing his

1:11:47

wedding ring. But the

1:11:49

implication being, I will be doing what I'm going

1:11:51

to be doing. And if you try to step

1:11:53

in, you're a demon and I will extricate you.

1:11:55

Like, yeah, it's also just, like I said, it's

1:11:58

blatant that he says it in New Orleans. microphone.

1:12:01

Yeah, it's a lot of spiritual abuse

1:12:03

amongst many other forms of

1:12:06

abuse. It makes me sort of think of

1:12:08

Gwen Shamblin Lara, where it would be like

1:12:10

the abuse going on in her family would

1:12:12

then get mirrored by people in the congregation.

1:12:14

Yeah, one of the parishioners

1:12:16

said in an interview that you

1:12:20

could tell when things

1:12:22

were getting real bad because whatever was

1:12:24

going on in his life, he would

1:12:26

accuse others of doing and project it

1:12:28

to the congregation. So

1:12:30

you kind of, like you said,

1:12:33

he's going to hang himself because he's

1:12:37

too fucking arrogant and stupid to realize

1:12:39

the things he says and texts and

1:12:41

everything, like how damning they really are.

1:12:43

And I think he thinks

1:12:45

he's above God. So, you know what I

1:12:47

mean? He could get away with anything. Yeah,

1:12:49

the kind of that smile he always has

1:12:51

to have like, and

1:12:54

it's like that's hiding. On that

1:12:56

same day, Monday, March 11th, Micah

1:12:58

filed a complaint in motion for

1:13:00

restraining order against JP through the

1:13:02

Surfside Beach magistrate court. The

1:13:05

supporting affidavit showed a pattern of

1:13:07

stalking from JP during their separation, particularly

1:13:10

he would text her things like,

1:13:15

Or, how was church? Implying

1:13:17

to her that he was watching her every

1:13:19

move. Yeah, he sent that

1:13:21

to her when she was at like a oyster

1:13:24

party with her family, the church, he sent it

1:13:26

right after she left a new church that she

1:13:28

had thought she was safe going to this new

1:13:30

place. She was so excited. She found these new

1:13:32

friends in a new place to like get back

1:13:35

on her relationship with God. And it's like, you

1:13:37

can't even have that because you are being so

1:13:39

viciously stalked by this man. Whether

1:13:42

it's he's there or he's just looking

1:13:44

at your location. Either way, he's

1:13:47

letting you know I know where you are. Like you can't, you

1:13:50

can't run. I'm wondering if you can somehow,

1:13:53

and maybe you can, can you

1:13:55

not block someone from knowing your

1:13:57

location? I believe he was

1:14:00

able to track her at this point

1:14:02

either through surveillance he had hired because

1:14:04

he did admit to hiring a private

1:14:06

eye and or through trackers that

1:14:08

he placed on her car because I think

1:14:11

he she did her sister said she would often

1:14:13

get new phones and have to get a new

1:14:15

phone because he would take control over it and

1:14:18

so that's why we'll get to

1:14:20

it why her the last phone she ever owned

1:14:22

is the family vitally was saying it's

1:14:24

very vital that they get a hold of it. Micah

1:14:28

took to social media on April

1:14:30

9th sharing with followers a glimpse

1:14:33

of her turmoil her post read

1:14:35

when terrible terrible terrible things happen

1:14:37

to you y'all know what I'm

1:14:39

talking about RPF resting

1:14:41

peace face hashtag

1:14:44

still blessed hashtag God is

1:14:46

good. Alongside

1:14:48

the post Micah shared a selfie of

1:14:51

herself smiling weeks earlier

1:14:53

she had also posted a video online

1:14:55

in which she referenced the nightmare she

1:14:57

was living in it

1:14:59

she touched on the religious and spiritual

1:15:01

distress surrounding her abuse saying

1:15:03

God hates divorce but why

1:15:05

it's because it hurts people

1:15:08

but does abuse hurt people how

1:15:10

do you think God feels about that her

1:15:14

video she just was trying to

1:15:16

reach out to people yeah

1:15:18

I mean I think she wanted

1:15:20

to reach out to people but also I

1:15:22

think she was documenting things

1:15:24

in a way that couldn't be

1:15:27

deleted I mean we know that she had

1:15:30

already contacted an attorney and

1:15:32

was compiling a bunch of evidence

1:15:35

it sounds like that attorney may

1:15:37

have been the one to say you did a paper

1:15:39

trail and like you know so but

1:15:41

also documenting things

1:15:44

so there's just

1:15:46

more proof of what was going on

1:15:49

when it all comes out and I also

1:15:51

think that she knew that her

1:15:53

time was limited because he had threatened

1:15:55

to kill her so many times and

1:15:59

she had told many people that if

1:16:01

something happens to me, I didn't do

1:16:03

it, JP did it. And

1:16:05

she put hashtag abuse awareness on that and

1:16:07

said, please share with anyone struggling. And I

1:16:09

think you're right saying like, I

1:16:12

know firsthand and it's like, well, we all

1:16:14

know who you've been married to, like

1:16:17

everybody, yeah. So it was sort of this like, I'm

1:16:19

gonna go public with it and do this out

1:16:22

loud in front of everyone. And I

1:16:24

did hear that she had difficulty finding

1:16:26

an attorney willing to take her case

1:16:28

because of JP's perceived power and influence.

1:16:31

Yeah, it's one of those things where everybody

1:16:34

knows who she's been married to and

1:16:36

maybe what's been going on. There's been

1:16:38

like rumors and maybe even some like

1:16:41

actual factual things, but this

1:16:43

is her coming out being

1:16:46

like, yep, the rumors were true. Like she

1:16:48

didn't name names, but like you said, everybody

1:16:50

knows who she's married to. So it's very

1:16:52

easy to put two and two together. And

1:16:55

she's addressing the rumors and saying

1:16:57

like they're not just rumors, terrible,

1:16:59

terrible things have been happening. Yeah,

1:17:02

she started going public. You're right, someone messaged her

1:17:04

and Facebook messages that were revealed. She said, I

1:17:06

don't go to Solid Rock anymore. I'm getting divorced.

1:17:08

It's for the best. She texts Charlotte. Thank you

1:17:10

for all of your advice. I'm finally leaving. It's

1:17:13

for the best. She had definitely decided, I've got

1:17:15

the evidence. I know what I'm doing. I'm getting

1:17:17

out of here and I'm gonna make a new

1:17:19

stand at this. She had gotten saved at her

1:17:21

new church on March 31st. So

1:17:23

kind of making a new, turning

1:17:26

over a new leaf felt like. On

1:17:29

April 15th, Micah filed for separation

1:17:31

from JP with a hearing

1:17:33

scheduled for June 5th. That

1:17:36

next week on Wednesday, April 25th, 2024, JP

1:17:40

was served with divorce papers and a

1:17:42

no contact order from Micah. That

1:17:44

week she paid her divorce attorney's $5,000 retainer

1:17:47

fee with funds she borrowed from a

1:17:50

fellow church member. Micah was

1:17:52

living with an 85 year old former

1:17:54

solid rock member named Diana in

1:17:56

an apartment. According to Micah's

1:17:58

sister, Anna, the. If the weak

1:18:00

JP was served with divorce papers, Micah

1:18:03

had also reported JP to the IRS.

1:18:06

Allegedly one of her coworkers said Micah

1:18:08

mentioned, something weird's going on. We've

1:18:10

gone through five accountants at the church in

1:18:13

two years. That's a

1:18:16

lot. And reporting to the IRS is a, if

1:18:19

he caught wind of that, I imagine that would

1:18:21

be pretty horrifying for him. Just depending on what

1:18:23

you're doing behind closed doors. Yes.

1:18:25

That's another reason for

1:18:27

him to be enraged.

1:18:31

After being served with divorce papers,

1:18:33

JP delivered his usual sermon on

1:18:35

Sunday, April 28th. In

1:18:38

it, he asked the congregation to read a slide

1:18:40

from the pulpit. He then said, with

1:18:42

a laugh and a grin, all

1:18:45

I hear is women the whole time. Women

1:18:47

do talk a lot. Comment

1:18:50

that elicited laughs from the audience. Throughout

1:18:53

the sermon, JP had a happy

1:18:55

demeanor with what one internet commoner

1:18:57

called, a pep in his step. At

1:19:01

the end of his message, Pastor

1:19:03

JP told the congregation he had

1:19:05

an announcement. He quieted

1:19:07

his voice before saying, we're

1:19:09

not going to do an altar call today. Instead,

1:19:12

I'm going to have you stand up and I'm

1:19:14

going to make an announcement. And after the announcement,

1:19:16

I'm going to ask that you leave church quietly

1:19:18

and don't talk about the announcement here in the

1:19:20

building, please. So can y'all stand

1:19:22

to your feet before

1:19:25

I make the announcement? I also want to say

1:19:27

that my request to you is that you will

1:19:29

continue to come to church and serve and give

1:19:31

for the next little bit. Cause I don't want

1:19:33

to have to, I'm taking a little bit of

1:19:36

a break and I don't want to have to

1:19:38

worry about the church. My break may be a

1:19:40

few days, a few weeks, I don't know. He

1:19:44

then launched into the news about

1:19:46

Micah. I got a call last

1:19:49

night. My wife has passed

1:19:51

away. Yeah, yeah. It

1:19:53

was self-induced and it was up in North

1:19:55

Carolina. And we're going to have a funeral

1:19:57

for her here next Sunday at three. The

1:20:00

strange way he delivered the shocking

1:20:02

news caused an internet uproar and

1:20:04

soon, details about

1:20:23

Micah's death would be revealed, causing

1:20:26

for her family and the world

1:20:28

more questions than answers. This

1:20:33

was the first time I was

1:20:35

introduced to this case, was seeing a

1:20:37

TikTok of this sermon. That's so

1:20:39

many of us were. I

1:20:42

was flabbergasted that

1:20:45

this was happening

1:20:47

in real life and not in a

1:20:49

movie. The casualness,

1:20:52

the just every

1:20:54

day, like everything's fine, ha ha ha. And

1:20:57

then I'm going to take five minutes to

1:20:59

talk about how my wife died last night.

1:21:04

I didn't even have, I was like, there's no

1:21:06

way this guy didn't do it. This is

1:21:09

insane. And this

1:21:11

is recorded? And

1:21:13

he said this on purpose. Yeah,

1:21:16

yeah. Like I said, it's like he thinks

1:21:18

he's smart, but he's so fucking stupid. It's

1:21:23

unfathomable for me how stupid John Paul

1:21:25

Miller is. He's one of the dumbest

1:21:27

people I've ever come across, like full

1:21:30

stop period. But

1:21:32

whenever a stupid, it's like, if

1:21:34

you give a monkey a chainsaw,

1:21:38

it's a monkey still, but it's got a

1:21:40

chainsaw. I mean, he's been given money and

1:21:42

power and it may be that you're stupid,

1:21:44

but you are vicious. And so to see

1:21:46

him- He's stupid, but he's very dangerous. Extremely

1:21:50

dangerous. Extremely dangerous. And especially

1:21:53

you see, I think the

1:21:56

sense of I am

1:21:58

untouchable because- I'm still gonna do my sermon.

1:22:00

Let me do my sermon. We'll give you

1:22:03

all the timeline in part two. But the

1:22:05

tone with which I read his initial quote

1:22:07

of like, women just be talking, am I

1:22:09

right? That

1:22:11

is like precisely the tone he takes at

1:22:13

the first half of the sermon. He's fine.

1:22:15

He's laughing. His arms, his body, if the

1:22:18

body language expert on Banfield was just like,

1:22:20

oh my God, you could just see, they

1:22:22

were just like, this is not how a

1:22:24

grieving person behaves whatsoever. None of the facial

1:22:26

movements are there that would indicate someone's actually

1:22:28

grieving. His physical body language, his arms are

1:22:30

far away from his body. The tone of

1:22:33

his voice that he's using, and this one

1:22:35

is very like flat, like he's trying to

1:22:37

have no tone. We'll talk about his tones

1:22:39

of voice later on. But it is extremely

1:22:41

chilling to watch the juxtaposition between like, ooh,

1:22:43

ooh, ooh, ooh, at the beginning to like,

1:22:45

I just have a quick thing to say.

1:22:48

Could you all continue to please continue to

1:22:50

attend the church? Could you please

1:22:52

continue to tithe? I just wanna let

1:22:54

you know my wife died last night. Anyways, we're gonna have a

1:22:56

party next Thursday, or next Sunday at three. Also,

1:22:59

you're not allowed to talk about it. Don't talk about it. I

1:23:01

can talk about whatever the fuck I want. You're telling me that

1:23:03

my friend, member

1:23:07

of my congregation has died, and I'm not

1:23:09

allowed to talk about it? Like, it's so

1:23:11

sus. Leader of the congregation. Yeah. And

1:23:14

also to have been in the congregation

1:23:16

and to have seen how

1:23:19

he was acting at first, and

1:23:21

then be like, that whole time

1:23:23

he knew. Yes. And

1:23:27

to us, like, we had no idea. He didn't

1:23:29

act any different at all. No,

1:23:31

he's just telling this regular sermon, and

1:23:33

in fact, at the beginning, he's like,

1:23:35

this is the longest series of sermons

1:23:37

I've ever, like, completely unrelated. It's chaotic

1:23:39

to watch. It's so unnerving and disturbing

1:23:42

to watch. Chilling is a good word

1:23:44

for it. It shouldn't surprise any of

1:23:46

us that they deleted it from their

1:23:48

YouTube channel, the Solid Rock

1:23:50

YouTube channel. However, there are several people

1:23:52

have clips. It's on TikTok, but a

1:23:54

really good one, and we've linked it

1:23:56

in the show notes already under video

1:23:58

resources, is a church watcher who's... the

1:24:01

person who's an expert in coercive controls

1:24:03

in churches and cults, going through like

1:24:05

two minute chunks and going the language he's

1:24:07

used here, this is how it fits with

1:24:10

a cult leader. The language, this is how

1:24:12

it fits with an abuser. This is how

1:24:14

it fits with a cult leader. And commentary

1:24:16

on it, so it is fair use, but

1:24:18

then in between their commentary, you can watch

1:24:20

for yourself and it is chilling. It's shocking.

1:24:22

Yeah. Mm-hmm.

1:24:24

Anyone with information regarding this case is

1:24:26

asked to contact the FBI through your

1:24:29

local field office. Micah's attorney,

1:24:31

Regina Ward, is working with the

1:24:33

family and accepting tips via her

1:24:35

law office. You can

1:24:37

send them via email

1:24:39

to justiceformikatips@gmail.com. There

1:24:42

is a GoFundMe to support the Francis family's

1:24:44

legal efforts. We have included a link in

1:24:46

our show notes via the episode description. I

1:24:49

believe they just recently also got the domain

1:24:51

justiceformika.com to kind of make it easy for

1:24:53

everyone as well. So

1:24:56

what do we think? Ah,

1:24:59

part two is forthcoming, because there is

1:25:01

the severe

1:25:04

extensiveness of the abuse.

1:25:07

We haven't even described all

1:25:10

of it yet, because there's even

1:25:12

more receipts that we couldn't even

1:25:14

fit into this. But I think

1:25:16

you're right, when you set up

1:25:18

top, it shows the various failings

1:25:20

in different systems. The police system,

1:25:22

religious systems, not having any

1:25:24

checks on these. And what happens when you

1:25:26

have unchecked wealth and power, and

1:25:28

not that it was like great amounts of

1:25:30

wealth, his dad, but you have this unchecked

1:25:32

religious power, and he sees, oh, well, dad

1:25:35

gets away with all this shit. He got

1:25:37

off on these federal charges, these state charges.

1:25:39

He can run rampant and molest whoever

1:25:42

he wants. I can too. And

1:25:44

that's what we're seeing now with these allegations.

1:25:46

So I believe it is gonna

1:25:49

be a Murdoch situation, and that this is

1:25:51

a one thread that we've all begun to

1:25:53

pull. And you'll definitely see in part two

1:25:55

that things have not lined up with the

1:25:57

death investigation, but as far as what we've

1:25:59

seen. covered just in part one. I think

1:26:02

these were multiple things we've talked

1:26:04

about today. I think the statute of limitations has

1:26:06

not run and we'll come back to bite

1:26:08

him shortly. Yeah. I imagine

1:26:10

that some victims are going

1:26:13

to come forward. Maybe

1:26:15

they couldn't before and

1:26:17

this will propel them to,

1:26:19

I think that a lot

1:26:21

more is going to come out about his dad

1:26:24

and probably stuff about

1:26:26

him and Micah too. I mean, she turned over 11

1:26:28

journals to her attorney

1:26:31

that were diaries documenting

1:26:33

the abuse, how she felt about

1:26:36

it, dealing with the church

1:26:38

and stuff, because she wasn't

1:26:40

just having emotional and physical

1:26:43

abuse. There was this whole spiritual

1:26:45

element to it as well. I

1:26:47

mean, she was a very devoted Christian.

1:26:49

She had been her whole life. So

1:26:52

for that to then be used against

1:26:54

you in the worst

1:26:56

way possible. And I mean,

1:26:58

there's some stuff that we haven't

1:27:00

even touched on, like him forcing

1:27:03

her to have sex with people

1:27:05

while he watches and then using

1:27:08

his power

1:27:10

as a pastor and her pastor and

1:27:13

her husband to say

1:27:15

that all of this should be right. Don't argue

1:27:19

with your husband. Don't argue with me. This is

1:27:21

what I want. These are my needs and your

1:27:23

job is to help me fulfill my needs despite

1:27:25

if you want to or not. So

1:27:28

I'm going to make you have

1:27:31

sex with someone that I've hired while I

1:27:33

just stand over in the corner. And it's

1:27:36

just, it's, it

1:27:38

makes me so sick to my stomach and

1:27:40

just so sad to think that, like

1:27:44

I said, half of her life

1:27:46

was spent under this asshole's thumb,

1:27:48

like from 14 to

1:27:51

30. She was being abused

1:27:53

by this man. And so

1:27:56

many people and systems

1:28:00

her along the way and failed so many

1:28:02

others too because she wasn't the only victim.

1:28:04

You know, I mean she is the one that

1:28:07

unfortunately lost her life

1:28:11

and so that's why this case is

1:28:13

coming up which is bringing up all

1:28:15

these other transgressions and like

1:28:18

I said what we do in the dark eventually comes

1:28:20

out in the light and all of the shit that

1:28:22

he's done I mean what is he 40 44 he was born in

1:28:26

1980 he's my age yeah the

1:28:28

shit he's done is all

1:28:32

gonna come out in in one way he I

1:28:35

have some predictions but they're probably not

1:28:37

appropriate so for the air but I

1:28:40

mean we'll see what happens but you're I

1:28:42

don't I wonder if he's gonna make it

1:28:44

to a trial I doubt that I mean

1:28:46

it's sad to say it but if is

1:28:48

the significant amount of evidence against him or

1:28:50

are you so Alec

1:28:52

Murdoch ish you're so cocky and pompous if I got

1:28:54

a hold of this you're never gonna pin it on

1:28:57

me and even if you do I'm gonna fight it

1:28:59

and say you know even now let Murdoch tried

1:29:02

to off himself allegedly did

1:29:04

he or or his cousin did

1:29:06

and missed who knows what that

1:29:08

was all about but yeah

1:29:11

it'll be it also

1:29:14

in his father has written

1:29:16

like a hundred page ridiculous

1:29:19

novel about his innocence here's what

1:29:21

you have to say yeah he

1:29:25

he's definitely in

1:29:28

his son's corner but I

1:29:31

probably would be too if I knew that

1:29:33

I had abused my kid for his whole

1:29:35

life and others and he had a lot

1:29:37

of dirt on me or you also are

1:29:39

like I don't see anything wrong with

1:29:41

what he did I've been doing it my whole life right

1:29:44

it's like she's got a listen man and if she doesn't

1:29:46

you got to make her listen however you have to yeah

1:29:48

his 900 word rambling message to

1:29:51

the Daily Mail was embarrassing we'll get into

1:29:53

that in the next time but insofar

1:29:56

as people that have come out on both sides a

1:29:58

significant amount of people have come out in of

1:30:00

the allegations Micah made in affidavits

1:30:02

like to her attorney saying she

1:30:04

was emotionally, sexually, spiritually, financially, and

1:30:07

physically abused. And the evidence,

1:30:09

the significant amount of evidence that her attorney has

1:30:11

been entrusted with, her sisters have been entrusted with.

1:30:14

And then on the other side, you have

1:30:16

to just have JP going, no, and it's

1:30:18

just not holding up. And then his dad

1:30:21

going, no, and it's just... So

1:30:24

based upon that alone, your gut kind of tells you

1:30:26

what's going on, but we'll see how it unfolds, including

1:30:29

whatever's going to unfold next week. JP

1:30:31

promised last week that all of it's

1:30:34

going to come out, I have all

1:30:36

the evidence, and it has not, so

1:30:38

we're still waiting, bud. I'm looking at

1:30:40

my watch. I'm watching my watch. And

1:30:43

if you have anything to say to us, just write it on a piece

1:30:45

of paper and crumple it up and then shove it directly up your ass,

1:30:47

because I don't want to hear from you and I don't care. No.

1:30:50

We'll also talk in the next episode

1:30:52

about how he went

1:30:54

live on TikTok via another

1:30:57

creator's account, via another person

1:30:59

approaching him in his driveway

1:31:01

in the middle of the

1:31:04

night. It was so unhinged,

1:31:06

complete speculation, but I

1:31:08

also think that there's substance abuse

1:31:10

that has been going on this entire time

1:31:12

too, which I think would account for a

1:31:15

lot of the manic texts and being

1:31:17

able to text 100 people in five

1:31:19

minutes or whatever. You

1:31:22

can watch the TikTok live of what

1:31:24

he looks like when he's talking, and

1:31:26

he doesn't look like he's sober, in

1:31:28

my opinion. Yeah, in my opinion, he

1:31:30

looks like he is on something. And

1:31:32

someone in the comments literally said, can

1:31:35

anyone see his eyeballs? What do his irises look

1:31:37

like? He also,

1:31:39

at one point during his

1:31:41

ministry, years had to

1:31:44

come clean to the congregation about

1:31:47

doing drugs at Disney World. There

1:31:51

have been times where he'll give a little bit

1:31:53

of like, yeah, you're right. I did that. Well,

1:31:55

for every time he admits it, how

1:31:57

many times did he... not

1:32:00

admit it or is it not even known

1:32:02

yet? No, you're right. And in

1:32:04

that, and I think a lot of times

1:32:07

things that he says or accuses other people

1:32:09

of are perhaps him telling on himself. Yes,

1:32:11

for sure. Or making those. And in her

1:32:13

affidavit, Micah said that he texted her friends

1:32:15

and family saying that she was sleeping with

1:32:17

teenagers from the church. In which

1:32:20

case I would say if you or anyone you know

1:32:22

has gone to Solid Rock Church as a youth and

1:32:24

you have been molested by J.P. Miller, send

1:32:27

an email to justiceformicatipsatgmail.com because I bet her

1:32:29

attorney and the FBI would love to know

1:32:31

about that. And her family. And her family

1:32:33

and you are not alone and he has

1:32:35

no power anymore. He's donezo guys, he's donezo.

1:32:38

Someone said they felt really bad because he

1:32:40

hasn't been arrested yet. And I was like,

1:32:42

it took like 18 months to arrest Alec

1:32:44

Murdoch and it was completely worth it. And

1:32:47

all he did in that time was make

1:32:49

things worse for himself and stack up more

1:32:51

charges. Do more crimes. So J.P. is probably

1:32:53

going to go do more shit. And

1:32:56

we'll see him on a Court TV live stream

1:32:58

in about 18 months is my guess. If

1:33:01

he makes it again. Godspeed.

1:33:05

Yeah, I mean, you know, that

1:33:07

was a sarcastic Godspeed. I hope

1:33:09

he, I hope that he does

1:33:11

go to trial because I want him to have

1:33:13

to stand trial for everything he's

1:33:15

done and look her family in the eyes

1:33:18

as well as the victims and the victims'

1:33:20

families. And I don't want him to just

1:33:23

be able to peace out and not have to

1:33:25

answer for stuff. So, but I'm

1:33:27

just saying it would not

1:33:29

surprise me if that's the route he took. Given

1:33:32

the significant amount of evidence against him.

1:33:34

Yeah. And the threat city has made

1:33:36

countless times. A billion times. So, you

1:33:38

know, we'll see,

1:33:41

but we will bring

you more in part two of

We'll see you tonight, Raleigh. Oh man,

1:35:26

was Raleigh the Thrift last time that

1:35:28

got so crazy that I was like

1:35:30

fearful? Yeah, Raleigh got

1:35:32

wild because we brought up the

1:35:34

NC State versus UNC fishing

1:35:37

rivalry. Also backing into a

1:35:39

parking spot versus pulling in

1:35:42

was a house divided. Paris has never been to

1:35:44

Raleigh to face the angry mobs who say, do

1:35:46

not back in. And my husband is a 100%

about cold. Oh, that right there is the
