You know it’s a new year and I’m thinking how can we start this thing off right? And it dawn on me, LET TALK ABOUT PASSION BABY! Let’s talk about Passion! So you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to dedicate an entire four weeks on Passion!

We’re going to take our time to figure out what’s our passion? How can we use passion on our daily journey to success?

I think passion is something that we take for granted. For some reason, it’s not socially acceptable to start off a conversation with someone you barely know with, tell me what’s your passion?

It’s worst than asking are you a republican or democrat, or how much money do you have in your bank account? –like hey, what’s in your wallet.

I’m not getting any younger! At the age of 29, the older I get the more I find myself asking the question “what is it all for?” And this question brings me right back to passion! Once you can honestly answer that question your entire language changes and I don’t mean you become bilingual. But when you choose to live with passion lose what I call “the just language” The “Just Language” is the people who speak the least passionate about what they do; they say things that corrupt their influence. It’s easy to point out these people. Because when they are asked, what do you do for a living? They say things like, “I’m just a teacher” or when I ask what do you like about your job? They say “the best part about my job is getting off work.” It’s the people who think that what they do doesn’t really matter. The truth is every role, every position, and every responsibility matters so play your part exceedingly well.

It became a life dream for 41-year-old science content developer, Cindy Stowell to make it on the “Jeopardy” show. In 2016, she finally had her chance. Before her audition, she shared her passion with the Jeopardy staff explaining the reason why appearing on the show meant so much to her. She was battling a life threating cancer and wanted the opportunity to be a contestant so that she could donate the prize money to cancer charities. Cindy understood her chances of survival were depleting and that undoubtedly, time was not on her side.  Doctors believed at best, she had six months to live. In retrospect to the knowledge she shared, this concerned producers because they knew this would be a long shot. Even if she were to make it through the first round of auditions, there were a few other stages that needed to take place prior to the show airing.

Cindy exclaimed in a message to the producers, “If it is unlikely that the turnaround time would be that quick, then I’d like to give up my tryout spot to someone else”. Jeopardy producers insisted that she show up for her audition in Oklahoma City. If she was chosen as a contestant they were willing to do everything in their power to make her dream transpire. It turned out that she was selected, and three weeks later her life dream of appearing on the Jeopardy show happened.  Despite everything else that was going on in her life, Cindy played the game she had a passion for.

Cindy died a week before the show aired. She never got a chance to see herself on television. At the time of the recording of the show, she was battling stage 4 cancer. To say the least, passion is the intrinsic motivation that doesn’t require validation or approval from others. When you go through adversity with passion you’ll realize you are tougher than what you thought you were. Everyone was fueled by a passion for making this special moment happen. The producers and longtime host of the show Alex Trebek had passion because they went out of their way to make this special moment happen. Although Cindy had personal health issues, she continued to focus on her passion. They all answered the question of what is it all for? Passion is the will of every dreamer.
