RATING
The voices telling the story and the voice actors keep me engaged. I think this is great story telling.
I love listening to Wendy and Roy. The voice actors and hosts keep me interested :)
I have been listening to this podcast series for several weeks while doing housework; at times the actors are a bit dramatic and some things (like detectives) are portrayed a bit stereotypically, but I get a kick out of that. The stories are told with just enough detail to keep you informed but not so much as to grow tedious. Voice actors are excellent. It's among the best true crime podcasts I've heard. I have one huge complaint... every now and then a character on the podcast exclaims the Lord's name in vain and I consider that to be in very VERY poor taste. It's like a punch in the face. Please, Parcast writers, stop using the Lord's name as a swear, it's incredibly disrespectful to some listeners and completely unnecessary. If I get a response from Parcast that they will discontinue this, I will up my rating to 4 stars. Thank you.
Great stories, awesome storytelling, only negative is the god awful, cringy voice actors. I wish they’d either get new voice actors or just do away with the voice acting all together.
I liked this podcast in the beginning… I was intrigued to start listening to the new 4-part Bass Reeves mini series. But, I’ll just say that in the first 9 minutes listening, 6 of those minutes were for ads/commercials. I get podcasts need to make money, but doing that much at the start of your shows has to be turning people away.
Admittedly, I’ve only listened to the first episode of this podcast so I can’t speak for its newer instalments. But oh god what a wild 40 minutes that was. Honestly that episode felt like a fever dream. I’ve had others back me up on this. The first bit of voice acting was a real jaw to floor moment. More than that, I feel like it kind of misses the mark to imagine what the last conversations of murder victims might have been like and then replicate them in a variety of whimsical accents. I mean, this show is four seasons in and the other reviews seem positive so good for those guys. But what a strange, strange listening experience. Just wanted to share. All in all 1/5 - too much whimsy.
Great stories and I love that so many of them are from the mid-20th century or earlier! But yeah the voice actors they use are just terrible. It can be pretty distracting.
something struck me in the podcast the smuttynose murders. in the first part they say a clock fell at 7pm and that's probably when he was killing the women but in the second part there's a bar tender that says he gave him drinks at 7am so how can he is in 2 places at the same time!!
Good stories but soooo many ads even on ad free spotify
