Before I was old enough to have a social insurance number, I earned money like many young people did and do – by babysitting. I have fond memories of babysitting for a number of different families in my hometown of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and likewise, my own children also earned their adolescent spending money via regular babysitting jobs in Saskatoon. This next story concerns a young girl who took on a babysitting job that did not turn out well. The setting’s a police station interview room. The main character is Jade, and the story’s called Thursday Nights and Saturday Afternoons.
As ever, there's a writing prompt after the story.
Text and music are by me, Shelley A. Leedahl, and Zak Cohen produced. Cover art, "Musca domestica," is by Taylor Leedahl. I'm eminently grateful for funding assistance from the Canada Council for the Arts via the Digital Originals Grant Program.
