Time to abandon ship.

0:05

Oh no!

0:07

Here we go! Can I persuade you to join us for a drink?

0:19

It's a tradition.

0:21

Here, here. Jar Jar, homie, my main man, quickly.

0:25

Before the separatists attack, get into the escape pod.

0:28

Hey! This is escape!

0:30

Then we're the pods! These are the pods!

0:39

Welcome back to Star Wars Escape Pod, and a very special episode,

0:43

because today we are talking about Lego Star Wars.

0:46

And not just the video games, but the sets too!

0:49

We're going to dive right in.

0:51

We've got a few friends with us, and of course, their co-host, Blake.

0:54

So, let's get into it.

0:58

I'm so happy, I'm so happy.

1:14

Another happy landing. A pill!

1:19

The rebels need your help. Build us more ships!

1:21

Lego and Star Wars join forces for the first time,

1:25

so you can build authentic Lego X-Wings and Y-Wings.

1:28

Only you can help Luke and the rebels defeat Darth Vader and his TIE fighter

1:32

and save the galaxy.

1:34

You did it! You saved us!

1:36

Lego Mania!

1:39

Lego Mania! The new Lego Star Wars.

1:45

My favorite prop in the film...

1:50

I think it was probably the Lego Death Star.

1:52

Join me and together, we'll build my new Lego Death Star.

1:56

No way, that's awesome! Because, you know, it was delicate, and we only had seven of them,

1:59

and we had to break them, and Jacob kept breaking them too early,

2:02

and it was hilarious, it was a lot of fun.

2:07

You're the Spider-Man from YouTube.

2:10

One of the pieces of memorabilia in my collection,

2:12

in fact, the flagship piece, is a Lego Millennium Falcon

2:16

that I put together in 2010.

2:19

They're selling for about $5,000 now,

2:21

and it took about 60 man-hours to create,

2:23

and I display it with pride, but it would really mean the world to me

2:26

if Harrison could sign it. Is that okay, Harrison?

2:28

Oh, sure. Thank you guys so much.

2:30

Thank you. Wow.

2:33

It's very delicate. It's been a long time.

2:35

Yeah. Yes.

2:37

Whoa! Shut up.

2:42

Okay. Yeah.

2:46

Boom. When you made money, when you made money,

2:51

you bought certain things, didn't you?

2:54

Stuff that you...

2:56

Yeah. ...were denied as a child.

2:58

Yeah. Like, what did you buy?

3:00

Okay. Well, I wasn't denied...

3:03

I wasn't... No, any good parent will know, any parent in here,

3:06

if a kid wants a Lego set, you get them the small one,

3:08

you don't get them the big one that's like 359 quid,

3:10

so when my album went to number one, I was passing the Lego store,

3:13

and I saw the big Death Star, and I went,

3:16

do you know what? It's time.

3:20

I once went on a date and brought a Lego set

3:22

and made the Lego set and then left.

3:24

What? Wow.

3:28

There's an unusual happening...

3:30

...that I didn't think that you'd be into,

3:32

but you love Legos.

3:34

I do love Lego. Yeah.

3:36

I grew up making Lego when I was eight, nine years old,

3:39

and actually I continue it, and Victoria always laughs at me,

3:43

and she'll come down at like two o'clock in the morning,

3:45

and I'll still be trying to finish a piece off.

3:59

Welcome back, Shauna, hello, hello.

4:01

Hello, hello. And we got first time on the podcast, Eli, hello.

4:06

Hello there. Hello there.

4:08

Pleasure to be here in this surprisingly spacious pod, escape pod.

4:12

Oh, yeah, that's right.

4:15

Hello there. I thought we might have just lost someone.

4:21

We blew out the best escape pod.

4:24

Look at that airlock sound.

4:26

It's funny because I saved all these videos on the same device

4:30

that I'm using to have you guys on the call,

4:32

which means that the way that this tech works

4:34

is you won't be able to hear any of it, so now I've got to look it all up by hand on my phone.

4:39

But while I'm talking here,

4:42

I'm going to just give a quick rundown of Lego Star Wars.

4:46

Can you guys just throw a guess out there?

4:49

What year was the licensing agreement with Lucasfilm signed?

4:52

The agreement. So not the first set release.

4:55

That's right. Because I was 99.

4:57

So I'm guessing that it's going to have to be tied to

5:00

we post special editions, but pre Phantom Menace.

5:04

Do you have a year for that or just?

5:06

I'm kind of, I'm contemplating my idea.

5:08

I was going to say. I can go with 98.

5:10

I'm going to go out there and I'm going to,

5:12

I was going to say 96. I'm going to go 95.

5:15

Oh, you guys are going really early. So the licensing agreement was 1998.

5:21

In 1999.

5:23

Well done. In 1999, the Lego Star Wars is announced at the New York Toy Fair

5:28

and launches the same year with set 7140, the X-Wing.

5:32

That was the first set that they launched.

5:34

This is not only the first licensed themed Lego product,

5:37

aside from Volkswagen, randomly enough,

5:39

but it's also the first time in 20 years that a new male hair piece is designed.

5:45

Can any of you guess what the new hair piece was?

5:48

Like a toupee? Probably wouldn't be Luke.

5:54

Is it Leia's buns? Like a head piece?

5:56

Oh, that makes sense. That's a good guess, but that's a good guess.

5:59

But no. Is it Chewbacca's head?

6:03

That is a hairy head, but no.

6:06

Eli, any guesses? All I can think of is like Luke's hair too.

6:09

Hair too is a toupee, but...

6:12

Yeah, that's the classic Lego guy.

6:14

So it happens to be for Qui-Gon Jinn.

6:16

It is the most strange hair piece because he's got the pieces of hair on the front, right?

6:24

He's got the kind of like the ponytail things in the front side,

6:27

and then he's got the one sort of mullet thing in the back, right?

6:31

So it's a very strange hair piece. I have that figure.

6:33

It's somewhere on my shelf over here.

6:35

But yeah, that figure was the first in 20 years to get a new hair piece.

6:38

So I thought that was kind of interesting, you know, a bit of a fun fact there.

6:42

Those sets debuted with this vintage commercial.

6:47

I'll play this one for you. Just a moment here.

7:02

And Gungan songs.

7:04

Violet Naboo Fighters.

7:06

Battle Darth Maul Sith Infiltrator.

7:08

You've got what it takes to win the day.

7:11

If you win, we split the 50-50.

7:15

The new Lego Star Wars Episode I collection.

7:18

Each set sold separately.

7:20

So good, man. Dang, dude, that takes me so far back.

7:24

I don't even remember that.

7:26

I had a bunch of those sets. I don't remember it either.

7:28

The thing is, like, well, we never had cable-gonos.

7:31

I didn't have cable-gonos. So I wouldn't even have seen these anyways.

7:34

But like, you can just... It's got 90s written all over it, you know what I mean?

7:37

I got lucky. I grew up with American television, even though it was in Canada.

7:42

True. You've got a surprise.

7:45

Yes. So I just happened upon this book.

7:49

It got gifted to me, and it's perfectly relevant to what we're talking about tonight.

7:52

So I thought I'd bring this along.

7:54

The Visual Dictionary for Star Wars Lego.

7:57

That's right. And it is completely up to date because it was published in 2009.

8:02

Yeah. They've done a few of those over the years, and they've all included, like, a collectible minifigure.

8:09

Yeah, so yours has got the episode for Metal Luke.

8:13

Metal Luke, yeah. So I was thinking part of the...

8:16

We can guess the price. We can see what this guy's worth because I've never bothered.

8:19

That's a good thing to look up. And he is still in the original packaging halfway inside of this book.

8:24

Dang. That's crazy.

8:27

Well, if you want to flip to the first page, you might be able to follow along here because I'm going to read a quick thing from this article, and then we can just dive right into that first generation of Lego.

8:36

From 1999 to 2005, this is the original Star Wars Lego set kind of collection.

8:41

So in 99, they released the very first X-Wing Fighter based on the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

8:47

And that was the beginning of a longstanding collaboration between Lego and Lucasfilm because now we've got so many video games.

8:52

We've got so many sets as the years have gone on.

8:54

They've republished and reproduced these as the Ultimate Collector series and so on and so forth.

9:00

Microfighters, regular minifigure based things.

9:03

I mean, the standard X-Wing alone has like over four different kind of reissues, different box.

9:09

The original ships, I think, have had multiple reissues.

9:13

Oh, so many. It's interesting to go back to the original ones, just see how simple the old designs were when they had all the new moving pieces that they do now.

9:21

So the first Star Wars Lego sets were primarily based on the original trilogy, including the Millennium Falcon, AT-AT, various minifigures of Luke Skywalker, Vader and Han Solo.

9:31

In 2002, the first Lego Star Wars video game was released, and that became a big hit with fans of Lego and Star Wars.

9:39

And in the following years, more and more sets were released, including sets based on the prequel trilogy, such as Clone Troopers and Jedi Starfighters.

9:45

And of course, in 99 also saw the release of some Phantom Menace Lego.

9:49

And that was a big one for me because I think other than the Emperor's like chair and like a little thing with Luke Skywalker across like a gate, I don't know what those sets are called.

9:58

I think it's called Final Duel, part one and part two.

10:00

Did you repeat that?

10:02

It's called. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's called Final Duel.

10:04

The Final Duel, part one and two is 1999.

10:07

Oh, the one's down here. Yeah.

10:09

Final Duel, part one and two. Yeah. What are those set numbers?

10:11

I had the part one. 7200 is part one and 7201 is part two.

10:16

Oh, very nice. OK, so yeah, so I have those.

10:18

I also have the Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi small teeny box sets as well.

10:23

And I totally forget what those are called, but those are also the same year.

10:26

I believe it's called Death of Qui-Gon.

10:29

Nice. Very nice.

10:31

Oh wait, that was just the theme song.

10:34

Oh, I see it here. Naboo Swamp.

10:36

Naboo Swamp? Really?

10:38

That's what it says. I do have the Gungan pack, but I got Qui-Gon with like, he's got two battle droids and a door.

10:45

It's a little tiny square box.

10:47

And then there's an Obi-Wan one with like two droidekas.

10:50

Oh, I remember that because I had the droideka one.

10:52

Yeah. Is it from the original release?

10:54

I don't see it in this lineup. It is, it should be.

10:56

It should be from 99. Oh, it's here on the far side over here from 2002.

11:00

Oh, 2002, OK. That's why I'm getting thrown off here.

11:02

Oh, OK. So they're releasing Phantom Menace stuff when Attack of the Clones was out.

11:06

Interesting. The same year they had Attack of the Clones legos out.

11:10

That is... Well, I mean, this commercial is from 99.

11:13

They did release the Naboo N1 and some of the Podracers in 99.

11:17

It took them a while though.

11:19

Specifically only the Qui-Gon with the two battle droids and Obi-Wan with the droidekas.

11:24

The ones that I got. That's right.

11:26

Everything else was earlier than that.

11:29

This entire time I thought those were from 99, but I guess not.

11:32

Yeah, I mean, it's all one big mush for me too.

11:34

They call Jedi Defense 1 and Jedi Defense 2.

11:36

Ah, that's it. That's it.

11:38

In 2005, the last film of the prequel trilogy was released.

11:42

Revenge of the Sith. We're going too fast here.

11:44

Because you mentioned that there is a Episode 6 AT-ST, the first generation, the one they

11:49

released. There is, yeah.

11:51

In 2001. Now, I had this thing.

11:53

Did you? I did.

11:55

And this thing was not able to walk whatsoever. It was awful.

11:57

It barely stood, right? I think it had a contraption so the legs could kind of like slide back and forth.

12:04

That it would just immediately fall over every time.

12:07

And I did a lot of home Lego movies, stop motion, and this thing was impossible to work

12:12

with. Oh my goodness.

12:14

I bet. Eli and Shauna, did you guys have any of these OG sets from 99 to 2005?

12:19

Well, I'm just trying to find when mine came out because then I'm like, I had the Naboo

12:24

Starfighter and I also had, I got a lot of them early.

12:28

If you can list them, I can tell you.

12:30

The Starfighter is from 99, the original launch.

12:33

Okay. Yeah.

12:35

Because that's the one I have is the original one. And then I also had the 7662, the Trade Federation MTT.

12:43

Oh, that one's a later one.

12:45

I had the Hawk, the Snowspeeder set, one of them.

12:48

The original Snowspeeder was 99 as well.

12:51

I think mine was later, but hard as hell because some of them look very similar to the ones

12:55

I have, but also are like not the same because there's like a subtle difference somewhere

12:58

in there. That's fair.

13:00

Yeah. They got a lot more streamlined after the first one.

13:02

They're pretty blocky. Yeah.

13:04

I'm trying to find the ones that have boxes that don't say Disney on them because I know

13:06

that those are like the ones that I have.

13:09

That's like Rebels onwards.

13:11

Eli, you're a big, big into that first Lego Star Wars game, I assume.

13:16

So tell us a little bit about that.

13:18

What was, what console did you play on?

13:20

Oh, PS2 all the way, the way it should have been.

13:24

You know, September 11th is a very important date in my life.

13:28

We, I think we all know what happened then.

13:30

2006, the release of Lego Star Wars 2.

13:35

Fantastic game. Amazing.

13:37

Fantastic game. Amazing.

13:39

I wonder why they picked that date. This is like a very long choice.

13:42

I thought you were going to take a very dark turn with that and then all of a sudden Lego

13:47

Star Wars 2 came out.

13:51

That's not a joke. That's actually when it came out.

13:54

That was a very interesting choice of date.

13:58

Decided a dead mark, I guess.

14:00

That's awesome. I think I had the demo.

14:03

I played the ever living voodoo out of that game.

14:06

Did you? Yeah, I had, so I used to get the original Xbox magazine back in the day, around 2000.

14:12

And they would give you a demo disc every month.

14:14

And I had the demo desk disc for the original Lego Star Wars game.

14:18

The PC CD-ROM. I didn't even know they had a demo of that.

14:20

For Xbox, wow. Yeah.

14:22

And so it would only be the first level.

14:24

And I never bought it.

14:26

So all I had was the demo.

14:28

Just play the same level over and over again.

14:30

Yeah. I think my cousin was over and he played it and then he bought it, but I never got around

14:35

to it. Thank you.

14:37

Well, as far as TNT games or whatever it's called is concerned, I guess their marketing

14:43

disc worked. Oh, yeah.

14:45

Yeah. Your cousin plays the demo.

14:47

I'm going to buy this. Yeah, we stick it together.

14:49

Just play the demo games because some of the games are really bad.

14:52

Honestly, that was the best way to get games as a kid is you have your friend play a demo

14:57

or something, and then they buy the game and then you play it at their house.

15:01

That's true. Or you would just go into the old Zellers or Walmart and play it on the screen that

15:06

they had displayed. With the controllers?

15:08

So I think that's where I started playing a couple of games too.

15:11

Yeah, with the controller that just sat out.

15:13

And if I go right by the case. They're like changed to the TV.

15:17

Yeah. Yeah, exactly.

15:19

I remember those. Yeah, I got I got another like vintage commercial here.

15:23

We got to just take a listen to this one. It's pretty funny.

15:26

I need equipment. How about a starship?

15:29

What else? Destroyer droid.

15:31

More. I'll show up and pull him again.

15:34

You can create ships and characters with the new Lego Star Wars.

15:37

Command your own Millennium Falcon. Dispatch your Lego Technic Battle Droid.

15:40

Aim your armor to tactic.

15:42

Make them as real as you want.

15:44

Or as unreal.

15:46

Got anything in red and black?

15:48

Your work. Your rules.

15:51

The new Lego Star Wars collection.

15:53

Each set sold separately.

15:56

I was like, make it as real as you want.

15:58

You just build like Boba Fett's. Or unreal.

16:01

Unreal. And then he just makes a pile of crap.

16:08

Just random things.

16:10

So good, man. I love how terrible the Boba Fett is in that commercial.

16:14

Doesn't sound very good. So is that who that was?

16:16

Yeah. Yeah.

16:18

Yeah, exactly. I just like the Lego version.

16:21

Timur Morrison's had better days.

16:23

Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure.

16:26

Yeah, so from 2005 to 2011, the first Lego Star Wars movies came out.

16:31

In 2005, the last film of the prequel trilogy was released.

16:34

Revenge of the Sith. And this was also the year that Lego released the first Lego Star Wars animated film called

16:39

Lego Star Wars, The Padawan Menace.

16:41

The film was a huge success and led the more animated films and series based on the Lego

16:46

Star Wars. In this period, more sets based on the prequel trilogy were also released, such as the Separatist

16:52

Shuttle and the Ultimate lightsaber duel set.

16:55

New sets were also released based on the original trilogy, such as the Death Star 2 and the

17:00

Ewok Village. And there was so many that came out between this period of time.

17:04

I remember a lot of my Lego sets beyond those first edition TIE fighters and Vader and Qui-Gon

17:12

and such. I got a decent amount of episode three Lego.

17:15

I think that was that was when I really got into Star Wars, you know, when I was in grade

17:19

five. You're the perfect age for that.

17:21

Yeah. Yeah.

17:23

I had like Anakin's episode three fighter, the vulture droid that came with it in in

17:27

Ark 170. Here, I'll hand you this.

17:30

Ark 170. Oh, yeah.

17:32

I had the I had the General Grievous chase, you know, that one.

17:35

Yeah. The wheel bike and the lizard.

17:37

I bought that one specifically just for the Grievous minifigure, because at the time I

17:41

was just absolutely obsessed with General Grievous.

17:43

Oh, yeah. It was so cool because the rest of that set was kind of crap.

17:46

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

17:48

Yeah. Yeah.

17:50

Exactly. Yeah.

17:52

You know, those like what am I going to do with the giant lizard? And then and then the droid tri fighter had that too.

17:54

And that's when I got my second TIE fighter as well, which came with like a sort of a

17:58

better, better way to mount it on like this kind of like thing like a pedestal.

18:02

Yeah. I think I think that was the same one.

18:04

A few years prior, they did the four pack and one of them Lego just made up.

18:08

It's not even from the movies.

18:10

Right. Yeah.

18:12

It's yeah. Oh, man.

18:14

It's so cool looking through all these pictures, even though I got the Lego right here in front

18:16

of me in the front of my face, like looking at all the pictures of all the boxes, you

18:19

know, like you have to get the whole collection.

18:21

Josh, these books. Oh, man.

18:23

I got this T 16 Sky Hopper.

18:25

You just jab his pride over there.

18:28

Yeah. Geez.

18:30

Good stuff. What an amazing crossover.

18:33

Hey, like how much they've gotten out of this.

18:35

They've gotten, you know, the figures and the sets.

18:37

Obviously they've made games. They've made movies like huge explosion.

18:41

Well, of wonderful products for everybody.

18:43

Like how who could have predicted that?

18:45

Oh, man. Just how successful it'd be.

18:47

Oh, for sure. It feels like a weird combination.

18:49

Right. Because the original trilogy is pretty serious for a kids movie.

18:53

And then they're going to put this into these blocky, goofy looking figures who the company

18:58

is extremely anti war.

19:00

And for the longest time, they refused to make the color gray and the color green in

19:05

blocks because they were afraid kids would make tanks.

19:08

Crazy. Really?

19:10

George Lucas to make Star Wars Lego.

19:12

I mean, Lego still never made a bunch of tanks.

19:16

Oh, yeah. Of course.

19:18

It's in space. Oh, it doesn't count.

19:20

Yeah, exactly. It's fantasy.

19:22

That doesn't count. Did you guys ever watch Revenge of the Brick?

19:24

No. I think go after the toys that made us.

19:26

Oh, maybe. So Revenge of the Brick was a Lego animated web movie, and it also showed on Cartoon Network

19:33

as well. So for anyone who watched Cartoon Network might have recognized it.

19:36

But if you Google it, you know, it's probably.

19:38

Yes, I have seen this. Probably on YouTube somewhere.

19:40

Yeah. And I think I think that's the one with Jar Jar, who's the janitor.

19:43

You know, and he gets gets around and everything goes wrong.

19:46

And is that this? Is that the one I'm thinking of?

19:48

I vaguely remember seeing it, but I'm not sure.

19:53

Yeah. I'm trying to find it right now.

19:55

I watched that so many times, like when I was when I was younger.

19:59

Oh, man. When you were a youngling.

20:01

When I was a youngling.

20:03

When you were youngling.

20:05

This period of time also saw the debut of Star Wars, the Clone Wars Lego.

20:09

And that was probably around 2008.

20:11

So, you know, the higher you climb, the farther you fall.

20:14

It's crazy. Like, look in your book there and you can see you can see how many Clone Wars sets, like

20:22

you go from page to page. Oh, man.

20:24

And then you get to the Clone Wars page, which is like 2007, 2008.

20:27

Yeah. And it's like it just explodes.

20:29

The entire page. Oh, it's crazy.

20:31

There's so many. We're all out of ideas.

20:33

What do we do? What does that kid show?

20:35

There's like an episode every week.

20:37

You get new Star Wars stories every week for 20 minutes.

20:40

And you could never buy Rex.

20:43

Bunch of jerks. Bunch of jerks.

20:45

Put them in the most expensive set.

20:47

Those kids can suffer. Right?

20:49

Could you imagine? Well, because you were a kid who watched the show every week.

20:53

I still don't own Rex. Exactly, man.

20:55

That must just like burn you up inside.

20:57

I own friggin' Cody. I don't own Rex.

20:59

You know, I have Rex. Bastard.

21:01

I don't own Rex. I didn't even know it was Rex until you pointed it out.

21:08

I should have swindled it from you.

21:10

Oh, that's just a 501st clone.

21:12

Just swap it out with a generic clone.

21:14

No, I'll just take that off your hands. Yeah.

21:16

Right? Oh, they made a mistake with his helmet.

21:18

They splattered some paint.

21:21

One day I'll look closer at him and it'll just be like scribbles on him with like the washable marker.

21:25

You just swap them out. Yeah.

21:27

Yeah, exactly. It's a crappy homemade version.

21:29

Did you ever do that? Did you ever custom paint any of your Legos?

21:32

Oh, never. Oh, yeah.

21:34

Specifically clones. So when the, it's actually super relevant to this.

21:39

So when the Clone Wars animated stuff started coming out, they had the clone battle pack.

21:43

Yeah. And so I just, they were on sale one time.

21:45

I got two. Dude, I think I bought like 10 of them.

21:48

10? What?

21:50

I wanted to make a clone army. You talking about like those ones, right?

21:53

Like the little walker? The two, the two, the two man walker?

21:56

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they came with four clones in the pack.

21:59

That's right. Yeah.

22:01

And then I started using like Sharpie markers and stuff and I would, I customized a bunch

22:05

of their colors and stuff. Yeah.

22:07

I remember that was the time, like, you know, friends of ours, Luke and his brother, his

22:11

brother, his brother Brock would, would buy a ton of these things.

22:14

Like, you know, he definitely bought like probably close to 10 or whatever.

22:17

He had like all these clone troopers.

22:19

I thought it was like the coolest thing.

22:21

Yeah, man. Yeah.

22:23

And I was like, man, I can only dream of having that many clones.

22:25

Just piecemeal it, man. Yeah.

22:27

What I would do is whatever we'd go to the local city, I'd stop by Wal-Mart, I'd just

22:31

buy one at a time. I just did that over and over again.

22:34

Just burn through that allowance. That's right.

22:36

Well, I think at the time I was like high school or just graduated.

22:40

So it wasn't like $15 each time you go to the city wasn't a big deal.

22:45

Right, right. From 2011 to 2015, the acquisition by Disney happened.

22:50

And in 2012, it was announced by Disney that had acquired Luke's film.

22:54

They make they had and they had the rights to make new Star Wars films.

22:57

And, you know, to to a lot of people, to all of us, I think until we saw them, they were

23:01

very exciting news. But all the employees at Lego cheered.

23:05

Yeah. Yeah.

23:08

They're like new stuff. Yeah.

23:10

Because more products. The only I think it was like it was Clone Wars burnout.

23:13

Right. Like for a number of years, it was just Clone Wars stuff.

23:17

Because that was the only new Star Wars that they were doing.

23:19

And that was the only thing you want back.

23:21

They were they were reproducing old stuff and they were making like sets from the original

23:25

films that that we just didn't have yet.

23:27

And the battle packs, I think, were a big part of that.

23:29

You know, they did some Stormtrooper battle packs and all that stuff.

23:32

Oh, man. Slave one. That's taking me back.

23:34

The blue one. Yeah, I've got I've got that one.

23:36

Yeah. Rare.

23:38

That and Rex.

23:41

I know. So quite well over here.

23:44

This also meant that Lego could continue producing Lego Star Wars sets based on new

23:48

Star Wars movies in this period.

23:50

Sets based on the Star Wars.

23:52

The Clone Wars anime series were released such as Republic Gunship, Mandalorian,

23:56

Speeder sets were also released based on the new Star Wars films such as The Force Awakens

24:01

and Rogue One. And, you know, that was I think it's it's getting a little ahead of itself with saying

24:06

Mandalorian because that didn't come to later.

24:08

But but yeah, a lot of that like Rogue One stuff, I think, you know, this sort of Disney

24:12

era is very prominent.

24:15

And as the times gone by, because I've got I don't know about you guys, but I've got

24:18

too much Star Wars Lego. So I've had to slow down.

24:21

I've had to slow down. Is there such thing as too much?

24:23

Technically, no, because it all disassembles and goes in a box.

24:26

But, I mean, I keep it on my shelf all displayed.

24:28

So I only got so much room.

24:30

Yeah. Yeah.

24:32

So you don't have too many Legos. You have too little shelving.

24:35

You have too small. Too little shelving.

24:37

Too small of a house. I will say I've reached the age now where I'm less interested in buying new sets.

24:44

I'm just getting nostalgic about ones he can't buy anymore.

24:46

Right. Right.

24:48

I don't know if that's a good segue. Well, see, I'm trying to like get the ones that I really like.

24:52

So so I did end up getting the Mandalorian's Naboo and one Starfighter, like his gray silver

24:58

one, because I was just like, oh, man, when I saw that in the show instantly, I was like,

25:03

when that comes out in Lego, I'm buying it.

25:06

I was like, that's that I have to get.

25:08

Right. It's a pretty sweet set.

25:10

And same with Han Solo's blue speeder from Solo.

25:13

Like, I don't know why, but I just really like the movie Solo.

25:17

Yeah. He's got the book speeder.

25:19

Oh, the book speeder. Yeah.

25:21

Yeah. Yeah.

25:23

Exactly. Yeah.

25:25

Yeah. It's based on like an old Dodge, something or another.

25:28

But or Challenger or whatever it was.

25:30

But it was. Yeah.

25:32

It was. It was.

25:34

It was a cool design for a speeder. So it was like, oh, man, that's that's another good one.

25:38

And at one point, do you guys remember when Lego did their 20 years of Star Wars Lego?

25:42

It was in twenty nineteen and they released like a special special set.

25:46

They had this badge on there.

25:48

This is when we were at Disney. I remember this.

25:50

Yeah. Yeah.

25:52

So so they released a number of sets which were basically reproducing the original sets

25:57

that they were based on. And the artwork was the same and everything except the design was modernized and they

26:02

threw in a collectible figure with a yellow face because at this point they'd gone away

26:06

from the yellow faces. Oh, that's right.

26:08

And and they put in like the classic yellow face guy and it came on like a little pedestal

26:12

that said, you know, 20 years of Lego Star Wars from 99 to 2019.

26:16

And I just had to get the pod racer.

26:18

Yeah. Anakin's pod racer.

26:20

I was like, oh, my goodness. Like I just had to do that one.

26:22

So you got to put that on your desk.

26:24

Exactly. Yeah.

26:26

So you could get Lando, Leia, Pilot Luke, Han Solo and Darth Vader all a new hope.

26:31

And that was pilot Luke, if I remember correctly.

26:33

Yeah. Pilot Luke.

26:35

Pilot Luke came in the pod racing set, which is kind of too bad because I would have I

26:39

was hoping for Lando, Leia or Han.

26:41

But I wanted the pod racer.

26:43

But only the pod racer came with pilot Luke and I already have like two pilot Luke's from

26:48

that original run. Right.

26:50

Yeah. I don't think I ever got a Lando.

26:52

Do they not put him in a lot of sets? I got to check.

26:54

Well, they put in like the modern Lando. Yeah.

26:56

But this is like a vintage Lando. Right.

26:58

So even that, though, it must have only been in the Bespin set.

27:01

Right. Yeah.

27:03

He wasn't very common. That's for sure.

27:05

I think he came with a Falcon at one point. Maybe maybe Sean has got a Lando.

27:07

Was it the Falcon I got? You know what?

27:09

I might. Somewhere I might.

27:11

But I can't. I don't know if I could find them right now.

27:14

Josh, we have to make a trade.

27:17

A pilot Luke for a Lando.

27:19

I've got more than one pilot Luke. I'm good for it.

27:21

You know, I'll take a look and the next time I see you, I'll seem to think about it.

27:27

I've got some Sharpie on Captain Rex as if anybody was sharpied on Captain Rex.

27:37

No sacrilege.

27:39

Oh, jeez.

27:41

Yeah. And that's that's pretty much what I got for for this little read through of an article.

27:47

So, you know, reminiscing over past sets and stuff.

27:49

Yeah, it's good. Good time.

27:51

But 2019 was a good one. And I believe for the 25th anniversary, they do have a plan in place to celebrate that.

27:58

And maybe I can touch up with that later.

28:00

But I'm just looking at a very interesting thing here because we I think we can move on to our game.

28:05

I guess the minifigure cost. Now, just because we're talking about Lando, I'm going to talk about this one first.

28:09

All right. So can you guess?

28:11

And it is the Cloud City outfit that we're talking about.

28:14

So I don't know if that's the first version of Lando.

28:16

I'm trying to find him. But can anyone here throw a number out there as to how much you think Lando Calrissian Cloud City outfit costs with smooth hair?

28:26

Specifically the one with a smooth hair.

28:28

That's right. And this is the generation one, like the very first Lando.

28:32

Yeah, it's from from the Cloud City set.

28:34

So what year is it? This is I'm trying to read the number.

28:37

This is set 10123.

28:40

I see it here. It's 2003.

28:42

Yeah, specifically. No, it's just just a figure.

28:45

But but the actual set was the set was released.

28:49

When was this released here? 2003.

28:51

2003. Yeah.

28:53

So yeah. So this came with probably what was the first Lando minifigure?

28:56

I think it is, especially because on the box, he is huge.

29:00

I think they're specifically advertising.

29:02

You could buy Lando with this.

29:04

It's like this is the Lando set. It looks like.

29:07

So this is the first one we're doing.

29:09

So it's hard to even gauge a range.

29:11

He's OG. He's OG.

29:13

I'm just going with my gut. I'm going to say six hundred dollars.

29:15

All right. All right.

29:17

You like six hundred. That's right.

29:19

That's what that's what his guess is. I think we're really high or surprisingly low.

29:24

That is. All right.

29:26

I'm not like into I'm not a trader.

29:28

I don't know what what these go for these days.

29:31

So that's a pretty big way.

29:33

I'll help you out.

29:35

I'll help you out, Eli. The most expensive minifigure is shy of two thousand dollars.

29:40

Two thousand dollars. Hold on to get a real range here.

29:43

I'm in the wrong industry.

29:47

You and me both, brother. We've got to get into Lego counterfeiting.

29:49

So it's worth it's worth noting these numbers are not going to stay accurate for long.

29:53

Like maybe in a couple of days they'll all change.

29:55

I'm using and no cheating over there, but I'm using BrickRanker.com.

29:59

So, you know, if anyone's heard of that website, you know, this is like a stock trade for for Lego minifigures and sets and such.

30:06

So that's what I'm using as a base here.

30:08

If anyone's like screaming through the headphones like you're wrong.

30:11

Yeah, I like that website because they're open to trade.

30:13

They will take vehicles.

30:15

So you want to trade your car or house keys?

30:17

Yeah. House house keys.

30:19

Dog.

30:23

Any guesses, Eli?

30:25

I'm going to say one hundred and fifty three dollars.

30:28

All right. Oh, I should ask what currency are we using?

30:31

That is a very good question.

30:34

I think it's. Oh, here I can.

30:36

I can change it. Which currency would you like?

30:39

What's the exchange rate between Canadian dollar and credits these days?

30:44

So it's US dollars that we're that we're talking about.

30:48

And I'm sure that exchange rate pretty much sucks.

30:52

I'm keeping my answer.

30:54

I'm keeping my answer. I think calamari phlegm is in.

30:56

I think it's time to invest in some phlegm.

30:58

Lots of that for you.

31:00

Is it flan or phlegm? Hopefully it's not phlegm.

31:03

Shawna, any guesses? Eli took my guess for four or four dollars.

31:09

I'm going to go higher.

31:11

Now that you said that about the 2000 being the highest, I'm going to go with about two

31:15

fifty. All right.

31:17

OK, so I think Blake is the closest.

31:20

Oh, dang. I thought it was really high.

31:23

It is currently listed for four hundred four hundred and forty six dollars.

31:28

Seventy seven cents. It's kind of right between us.

31:31

Yeah. So I'll just that that believe it or not.

31:34

So this this might help you with the next few guesses because we'll do four more here

31:38

and I'll give you the first one.

31:40

Brown Sharpie.

31:42

I think went wrong. I don't think we had a proper range.

31:45

So the highest one is 2000. So the highest one is I'll give it to you for free.

31:49

Boba Fett Cloud City. This is one thousand nine hundred seventy five dollars.

31:54

And seventy cents. That's crazy.

31:56

So this is from the same set. It's from the same set.

31:58

That set. But just those two characters.

32:00

Dude. Oh, man.

32:02

Set for life. Oh, my God.

32:04

OK. So now for full range, what is the cheapest Lego minifigure?

32:10

Oh, well, that's that's an easy one.

32:12

I think it's probably like four or five dollars or something like that.

32:14

Yeah. But I want to know who.

32:16

And you got it there. I'll give it to you for free.

32:18

Boba Fett Cloud City. We need a full.

32:21

Yeah, we need a full. This website only gives the top one hundred.

32:25

OK. So so the bottom one.

32:27

OK. The bottom one is simply just the Inquisitor.

32:31

And it's listed at fifty six dollars and eighty seven cents.

32:34

That's still more than I would have thought.

32:36

But and quite a bit. This is the Inquisitor from most likely.

32:40

What's the Inquisitor? The Inquisitor's tie fighter, the prototype tie.

32:44

It was a Star Wars Rebels. Rebels.

32:46

OK. From twenty fifteen January is around the same time the ghost came out.

32:50

So that's that's your baseline. That's your base for like the top one hundred.

32:53

Of course, if you were to like go on eBay, you could find any random Star Wars

32:57

Lego minifigure might be listed for ninety nine cents.

32:59

But we're going off of the top one hundred.

33:01

Yeah. So and this is just one source.

33:04

But I know we have no way to look it up.

33:06

But if you had to pick a character who the number one cheapest Lego Star Wars

33:11

minifig, who would it be?

33:13

It's a good question. That is a good question.

33:15

Be a droid. It would probably be one that they've made a many, many, many of.

33:19

Ahsoka. Now, believe it or not, they don't have that many.

33:23

So because they're all worth something.

33:25

So many. So no, it's got to be Anakin from the Clone Wars.

33:29

I was just going to say general, a general clone trooper, like a general,

33:33

like when they really stole the battle.

33:35

People want those to make armies.

33:37

That's the thing. They have value.

33:39

True. Or the battle droids. True.

33:41

True. Well, I was thinking battle droids because just even the.

33:44

The Trade Federation one that I have comes with like six or seven already.

33:49

That's a good point. That's a good point.

33:51

Oh no, it says sixteen. It comes with sixteen.

33:53

So like. Yeah.

33:55

So like. Also, most of the body.

33:57

Producing a lot of those ones. Most of the body.

33:59

Because like the color, the color is a bit specific, but the body pieces are actually

34:02

all pieces that you can get in other Lego sets as well.

34:05

Aside from the head. Yeah.

34:07

Because like the arms and the body are like things that you can find in other sets.

34:10

But then I don't know about the legs, but the head.

34:12

Definitely. That's unique to that.

34:14

But anyways. We're definitely just paying for the head.

34:16

For sure. Oh yeah.

34:18

Totally. I'm going to go with rebel trooper number three.

34:20

Rebel trooper number three. All right.

34:22

This is a super random one. Generic background rebel trooper.

34:24

So number two on the most valuable list is and you guys will never guess it.

34:30

So I'm just going to give it to you. But you'll guess the cost.

34:32

This is a C3PO chrome gold from the Star Wars 30th anniversary edition.

34:38

So this appeared. I'm trying to find out where this 10,000 were produced and inserted into random 2007 Star

34:46

Wars sets is worth more Boba Fett's worth more than this.

34:49

Yeah. How is that possible?

34:51

Because I guess there's less than 10,000 Boba Fett's.

34:54

That's my guess. But it was in our mainline set.

34:56

How is that possible? I don't know.

34:58

I don't know. But how much do you think this figure is Boba Fett is just shy of 2000.

35:01

How much do you think C3PO chrome gold? This is the second highest.

35:04

Second highest. It's got to be close to that.

35:06

Right. Like 1900.

35:08

16. I'm going to go in the middle.

35:10

I'm going to split the difference. 1750.

35:12

Oh, yeah. You're almost bang on.

35:14

It's 1794. Okay.

35:16

Very close. Crazy.

35:18

Wow. Nice.

35:20

Okay. I would have thought that one would be more than the Boba Fett.

35:22

If it's that rare and uniquely made. The third one is going to make you angry that you just never bought this set.

35:27

Okay. So the book.

35:30

So the third one was released.

35:33

Believe it or not, it's not old at all. Came out May 2019.

35:37

This is a Disney figure. This is a Disney set.

35:41

Okay. All right.

35:43

Is resistance bomber pilot Finch Dallow.

35:45

This is the most random. Is that the girl who dies?

35:48

Everybody's favorite. Finch Dallow.

35:50

Of course. Is that the sister?

35:52

I actually, I actually have no idea.

35:55

This minifigure appears in one set and I'm just trying to find out.

35:59

It's got to be the Last Jedi bomber set. It's the resistance bomber set from The Last Jedi.

36:03

Yeah. Yes.

36:05

That's surprising because that was actually a cool set. That was overpriced for what you get, if I remember, like per price per brick that might

36:10

have had something to do with it. Yeah.

36:12

The original cost of this set was 110 US dollars.

36:17

You just get the one bomber. You just get the one bomber and how much do you get?

36:21

You get four or five minifigures here or five, but that one I think was cool where you actually

36:25

had a bomb release where it would drop a bunch of.

36:27

Yeah, it's cool. Yeah.

36:29

And I think like, you know, the, and the, the figures are actually pretty sweet.

36:32

Like the figures are pretty cool. One of those characters.

36:34

Yeah. One of those characters.

36:36

And all of the minifigures in this set are unique to this set.

36:39

So there was all of the X-Wing fighters, there was Poe Dameron, a resistance gunner Paige,

36:45

resistance bombardier, Nyx, Jerd, Finch Dallow, and then Vice Admiral Haldo.

36:50

They're all unique to the set.

36:52

It looks like with the prints, you know, like prints on like the legs, the torso, very detailed

36:57

figures. The helmets were very detailed and unique.

36:59

So what you're saying is in retrospect, it was clear that this thing was going to be

37:03

worth money. I guess so.

37:05

I guess so. And you know what?

37:07

Some people actually do this. Some people look for, you know, valuable sets that they think are going to, you know, they'll

37:11

play the stock guessing game and they'll buy a bunch of them, keep them in the box in the

37:15

basement. You might make more money with Lego than you will in stocks.

37:18

Yeah, maybe. Because they will, you know, tenfold their value for just a handful of years.

37:23

So the storage space, you see, that's where the problem is.

37:26

You get a leaky roof for, you know, backed up drain.

37:29

It's true. There it all goes.

37:31

It's true. That's the only thing you get a storage locker for.

37:35

Yeah, this is this. Now you're losing all your all the money you'd be gaining.

37:39

Oh, that's true. Yeah, that's true.

37:41

Never mind. Take that back.

37:43

This particular figure is a thousand dollars less than the gold chrome C3PO.

37:49

So what what rough number?

37:51

Seven hundred fifty. OK.

37:53

All right. I'm just kind of ballparking the thousand here.

37:58

I'm not giving you the exact math, but you know.

38:01

Oh, well, there goes my guess of seven hundred and ninety four.

38:06

It's close to that, though. How close can you get?

38:09

How close? Eight hundred and thirteen.

38:11

One going back now. One hundred and thirteen dollars.

38:14

That's just like eight hundred and thirteen.

38:17

Eight hundred thirty. OK, OK. All right, Sean, what about you?

38:20

I'm going to go seven hundred and twenty three dollars.

38:22

OK, it was eight hundred and two and ninety cents.

38:25

Oh, so close to that.

38:27

OK, and our last minifigure here is we'll guess the cost again.

38:32

Cheaper than this guy. OK, it is the Yuletide Squadron Pilot.

38:36

This minifigure appeared in the very limited run, the Christmas X-Wing set,

38:42

which I don't think anyone even knew that they made a Christmas X-Wing set.

38:45

But this this set, this set came out.

38:48

Oh, my God. There was like, I just looked it up.

38:51

Yeah, it's it's it's kind of nuts.

38:54

I wonder when did this come out?

38:56

This was celebrating. Oh, it came out the winter that in 2019 when Lego Star was celebrated 20 years.

39:03

So it was it was in that same lump sum of all the reproduced sets.

39:07

And then they made the super random Christmas X-Wing set.

39:10

And it is the pilot that comes with it.

39:13

Oh, yeah.

39:15

I don't know if anybody in the audience is looking at this right now, but it's awesome.

39:19

I want this. Well, you're going to be paying a pretty penny for it, my friend,

39:23

because it take a take a wild guess at how much the Santa Claus pilot is that comes with it.

39:29

Just the pilot, just the pilot. This guy's less than the other, the resistance pilot.

39:34

Yep. Surprisingly enough. I'm going to say six hundred and fifty eight.

39:39

Blake said the last one was 802, right?

39:41

The last one was 802. Yeah, it was 802.

39:43

So it's less than 802. I'm going to go with 657.

39:48

Shauna. I don't think this is that much less than the resistance pilot, so I'm going to go seven eighty five.

39:57

It is OK. All right. It's actually a bit further down.

40:00

This is this one jumps down a bit more. So it's at five ten sitting at five ten.

40:04

Checkmate. That is it.

40:06

And then we're back at Lando down at Lando at four forty six.

40:11

But that Django Fett that you and I have, Blake, that that that's in number seven.

40:16

So we're skipping down past another Cloud City figure, which is Luke Skywalker,

40:20

priced at four thirty, and Django Fett is priced at four hundred and eight dollars.

40:24

Dang. OK. Crazy.

40:27

Do you guys have any any old Lego figures I can look up here?

40:31

Well, I look up the guy in this book. Yeah, Shauna. Yeah.

40:34

You guys have any any old Lego figures?

40:38

There's Book Luke. Oh, Book Luke, Book Luke.

40:42

OK. Hold on a second. Oh, wow. It's worth almost 30 cents.

40:46

Hey, the metal he's made out of is worth more than that.

40:50

No, I think we're recycling the paper would give you.

40:53

OK. Unfortunately, he's not on this list.

40:56

That's a good sign. Maybe he's just like, I don't know if there's an I have an Adderall.

41:03

Oh, my gosh, I can't speak Admiral Ackbar from the limited edition home

41:08

one Mon Calamari set. Admiral Ackbar.

41:10

OK. Hold on a second here. Let me just find the metal, Luke.

41:16

Oh, hey, there's one from. Oh, that's from Star Wars Celebration.

41:19

So that's I guess they sold a lot of books.

41:22

You know what? I can't find anything.

41:26

Then I can't find it at all.

41:29

Maybe the bookstore just made it up. It's not real. Not real Lego.

41:33

I think the metal on here might just be like a sticker.

41:36

Brutal man got ripped, got ripped.

41:39

OK. So which one is it?

41:41

OK. Sorry, Admiral Ackbar.

41:44

I think it's that this is the right number.

41:46

Seven, seven, five, four. OK. I don't see it on the top one hundred.

41:50

But there's only two. There's only two. And average price, twelve bucks.

41:56

There's a lot of those, I think. Unless I'm looking at the wrong one.

41:59

Which which one is this? Is this from the home, the home one cruiser set or is this from the A wing?

42:04

Yeah, the home. No, the home one cruiser. Home one. Wow. I didn't even know they made a set like that.

42:08

That's that's pretty cool. We use this. Yeah.

42:11

Oh, this is the original run. This is got the original logo on it and everything.

42:14

Two thousand. Oh, it's two thousand nine. Oh, it's a limited edition.

42:17

The limited edition. So they like got all nostalgic and put the original logo on there.

42:21

But it's actually a newer set. Interesting. Hold on to your seats. That sounds like it's worth more.

42:24

Yeah. Seven, seven, five, four. I'm looking at it. I don't know.

42:27

There's a Lando in there, too. And a Mon-Motsma.

42:30

It's a good name. Yeah. Yeah. The set goes for what, two hundred dollars?

42:35

Something like that. Yeah. Eli, what you what you got?

42:37

What what figure want me to look up? OK, not what the Death Star 2 goes for, that first run of it.

42:44

The first one I was on when I was in school.

42:46

Death Star 2. Death Star 2, the one that he who shall not be named has.

42:52

Oh, yeah. You're talking about you're talking about the original like UCS.

42:56

Yeah. Two thousand nine.

42:59

Two thousand nine. Death Star 2. OK, complete one. You you do you own this?

43:03

So we know someone who does. I don't own it, but he who must not be named

43:08

got it when we were on a school trip to Germany.

43:12

Oh, and we, you know, so we have to pack our things around Eastern Europe.

43:15

And he sees this huge box set and simply must have it.

43:20

Hard to blame him in retrospect. But yes, he did.

43:22

And I don't remember if he had to throw out some of his clothes

43:25

to fit it in his luggage and leave his wife to set for several hundred euros

43:30

and brought it back with us. That was a good investment because it is number four on the top

43:36

one hundred most expensive Lego Star Wars set.

43:40

Can you take a guess as to what it is?

43:43

Oh, man. OK, so how do those sets compare to the many?

43:46

OK, so I'll give you I'll give you Cloud City, Cloud City,

43:50

causes a given that's at number one, that sits at seven thousand dollars.

43:55

OK, seven thousand one hundred and eighteen dollars.

43:57

I'm going to say forty five hundred bucks.

44:00

All right. Anyone else? I'm going to say forty five hundred and one.

44:03

One hundred and fifty five hundred. Fifty five hundred.

44:05

OK, it is three thousand one hundred and seventy two and ninety two cents.

44:09

I still win. Crazy.

44:12

No, you guessed the other wrong.

44:16

The other two in the top four, I'm going to offer them fifty bucks.

44:21

The other two in the top four are more expensive than the other two in the top

44:25

four are more expensive than the other two in the top four are more expensive than the other two.

44:31

The other two in the top four are oddly.

44:34

I never would have suspected these. So number two is something called Clone Wars Pack sitting at four thousand nine

44:40

hundred and eight. This is like a what is this?

44:44

Just like a battle pack. I'd be so mad.

44:46

It's just a draw on all my.

44:48

Oh, oh, it's a comic con exclusive.

44:50

So so there's like a there's like a Treadwheel Treadwheel droid in there

44:55

with with a couple of clones. This does happen to have a Captain Rex

44:59

and a clone trooper with it says Clone Trooper phase one large eyes.

45:03

So that probably means like the first gen first gen clone.

45:06

So that's why that's why I think it's so expensive because it's a comic con exclusive.

45:09

And then in number three is a build your own Darth Maul face.

45:12

It's like a like a bust. Oh, I saw that in here.

45:15

Yeah, it's from 2001, 2001.

45:17

It's yeah, this thing set number ten thousand eighteen.

45:22

It's a creepy looking thing, but it goes for three thousand three hundred

45:26

and thirty one dollars and seventy eight cents.

45:29

The best part is this Lego so you can move around the brick

45:31

so it looks more like yourself. Oh, my God, that is scary looking.

45:35

That is not bad.

45:37

I'm just picturing a whole range of self portraits now made out of this Darth Maul.

45:42

Yeah. Yeah. It's like chubby kids and like real skinny kids and just like it's like an art piece.

45:50

So that yeah, that's pretty much I know we're hitting we're hitting our time.

45:54

I want to get we got to move on to the games for a second.

45:58

I want to know what the 2003 version of the episode two

46:02

Hailfire Droid goes for. Sorry.

46:05

OK, that was one of the sets that they never I think they remade it once,

46:08

but it was like a decade. Oh, sorry. It's not Treadable Droid.

46:11

I meant Hailfire. Hailfire. That's the comic concept I was talking about.

46:14

Yeah. What's the original, though? The original Hailfire Droid.

46:18

Let's take a look. I'm assuming that one is set number four, four, eight, one, four, four, eight, one.

46:24

OK. Yeah. Yeah. That one, it was released in 2003 and it currently goes for two hundred and seventy eight dollars.

46:32

Really? OK. It was worth a lot more than that.

46:34

Yeah. That was like the Lego Technic version, wasn't it?

46:37

Or it looked more like, yeah. Yeah. It looks like it's got a lot of biological parts.

46:40

Yeah. Those wheels got to be custom, though.

46:42

Yeah. Cool. OK. So Lego video games.

46:45

I know, Eli, it's your time to shine. So I know we briefly touched up on it a bit earlier.

46:49

Lego Star Wars, the video game, 2005, you know, releasing on Xbox,

46:53

placing to Game Boy Advance, GameCube and Windows and Mac.

46:58

And then following that in 2006 was Lego Star Wars 2, the original trilogy.

47:03

Of course, as you say, September 11th, 2006 and Lego Star was the complete saga in 2007.

47:09

So like three years in a row, you know, you had the first, the second and then all kind of six movies

47:15

combined into one game, which were all sort of a bit shorter per was it was like four levels per episode

47:21

or something like that, right? Or five, five per episode.

47:23

Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah. And then the Clone Wars game, Star Wars, Lego Star Wars 3 in 2011, that one was the first action.

47:31

So I know I did play the other ones, but that was the first one that I owned on a full console.

47:35

The other ones I played were on handheld.

47:37

Then following that, I feel like this is the one that nobody played.

47:40

This is the Lego Star Wars, The Force Awakens game.

47:42

It was it was done as charged. Did you play it? No, no, never played it.

47:46

No. OK. All right. Did you play that?

47:49

Oh, what was it like? Sean, did you play this one?

47:55

Clone Wars one? No, Lego Star Wars, The Force Awakens.

47:58

No, I did not. Nobody played it. It's worth four thousand dollars now.

48:03

That's how it works. No.

48:05

It's so yeah, that one I've you know, I've played all of them except for that one.

48:11

But it was a little weird that they did one just for one movie, you know, like the other two.

48:16

Yeah. And the Clone Wars one was like kind of an exception

48:18

because it covered like season one of the Clone Wars TV show.

48:22

Oh, that's actually pretty weird. Yeah. It had like chapters that kind of, you know, were from some of the episodes.

48:28

And then there was like maybe one episode at the end that was for season two,

48:32

like the first couple episodes of season two.

48:34

And this was like a full published game.

48:37

Yeah. Yeah. Lego Star Wars three. Lego Star Wars three was the Clone Wars.

48:40

That was like season one and like two episodes of season two.

48:42

And that was it. I had no idea this existed.

48:45

Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was. It was the first Lego game that actually introduced the split screen feature.

48:49

So when you walk away from your partner, you're doing the camera.

48:52

Yeah, it doesn't just like stop. Yeah. So like this one, it like slices the screen in two.

48:57

Yeah. And like each screen kind of like morphs around the other as you like.

49:01

Oh, that sounds change directors. Yeah, it's a little dizzying playing with other people.

49:05

But I know I remember playing the Indiana Jones version of that.

49:09

And that was like one of the first times I had that. I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, you could separate easier.

49:14

And that was yeah, because they did that in the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings

49:17

games as well. I remember. Yeah. That's where I experienced it.

49:20

Yeah. So the Lego Indiana Jones game, I think.

49:24

Was that the second one that you're talking about? I think I played the first one.

49:26

OK, yeah, because the second one was 2009.

49:29

And OK, maybe. Well, maybe if maybe maybe that one was the first one to do it.

49:33

Maybe it was Lego Indiana Jones or something. But this was the first Star Wars one to do.

49:36

And then and then after that, you know, moving the goalposts force awakens

49:41

up until the most recent one. Well, there was Lego Star Wars castaways, you know, whatever the heck that is.

49:45

That's a looks like an IOS, IOS game.

49:48

It's like an app. Tom Hanks.

49:50

Yeah, Lego Tom Hanks.

49:52

Can you imagine how much of how valuable that would be made?

49:55

They made a Wilson Wilson volleyball.

49:57

Didn't they? Oh, they did a knockoff one, I think, because I think.

50:00

I think it was I got a Christmas gift.

50:04

It was like a user builder award one.

50:07

Yeah, like they did the back the future car and stuff.

50:09

Right. Right. It was. It wasn't specifically Tom Hanks.

50:13

It wasn't like it was. Yeah, yeah. But you could tell it was like, yeah, heavily implying brightness of it.

50:19

Right. And then the most recent one in 2022,

50:22

the Lego Star Wars, the Skywalker Saga game, which based on all nine films

50:26

of the main Skywalker Saga also has DLCs, which provide you many figures

50:32

and stuff from, you know, Rogue One, Solo, Clone Wars, Rebels, et cetera.

50:36

Mandalorian, Book of Boba, all that stuff.

50:38

But yeah, Eli, you're the big game player around here with the Lego games.

50:42

So which one out of all those was your favorite and why?

50:45

It's got to be the complete series, the third one they released

50:48

because you get, you know, the first original trilogy,

50:52

as well as the prequel trilogy in one box set.

50:54

I played that one on Nintendo DS.

50:57

Great game. Excellent game. I'm curious what the differences are from full console to DS.

51:02

Yeah, I mean, graphics, for sure. Probably the graphics, I would say.

51:05

But like, so, OK, the main menu, were you in like a cantina

51:09

and you went through like a bunch of doors for like original trilogy

51:13

and then and then prequel trilogy?

51:16

You know, you had two different doors. And then once you're in, like through that door,

51:19

there was like another room with different doors for like the movie.

51:21

And then there was like different doors beyond that for like the chapter

51:25

of the episode, right? Or that like that. Exactly. Yeah, OK. Yeah, yeah.

51:28

Yeah, I think it was probably done the same way. Then I would say the console one may have had like more detail

51:33

and like levels and stuff, because like, I don't know,

51:35

mine was like maybe, I don't know, I think it was like five,

51:39

five levels per per episode. But I don't know. I can't remember.

51:41

It was a good game, though. How did it? I'm curious.

51:44

How do I go ahead, Eli? No, no, you go.

51:46

Well, I'm going to somewhat change topic because I was curious

51:49

how it compared to the the Skywalker Saga game they released recently.

51:53

No comparison. Yeah, Eli, have you played the new one?

51:57

I haven't, unfortunately. OK, yeah, so I'm going to say no comparison.

52:01

Or Sean, have you played the new one? No, I haven't had time.

52:04

OK, OK, maybe I'm the only one who's played it then.

52:07

Actually, you played it. Yeah, you split screen with me.

52:09

Yeah, and I've also got it on Switch.

52:11

OK, yeah, so I think I say no comparison because like the new one is like very

52:17

it's like open world, right? Like like you can kind of travel between different planets.

52:21

And it's like you can be any minifigure from across, you know,

52:24

any of the movies or whatever. It's it's basically the version that when you were a kid playing the originals

52:30

and then you went to sleep after playing the game the entire day,

52:32

this was your dream. Yeah, yeah. You know, you know, you know what it almost is?

52:37

It's almost like it's what we wanted Battlefront 3 to be when there was like,

52:41

you know, the original like the original leaked videos of like the Starship

52:45

flying down into the city battle from the space battle.

52:48

Right. Yeah, it's a bit like that. You know, I remember this, but this was 2008 or something.

52:54

Oh, I saw this in like I saw this in like 20, 2011 or 2012 or something like that.

52:58

It was a long time ago. Yeah. That's still over 10 years ago.

53:01

Yeah, it was a long time ago, but it was good stuff.

53:04

So it's a bit like that. You know, you can like fly around whatever ship you want,

53:07

whatever minifigure you want. There's different categories, different classes that you can play as.

53:11

And you can go wherever, you know, so many different planets.

53:13

How many players can you do co-op on Steam?

53:16

It's always two. It's always two on the Lego games. OK, it's a maximum.

53:19

All of us could play, but I guess we have to switch out.

53:21

Yeah, take turns. Yeah. Every time you die.

53:25

Yeah. It's a Lego game, so it never happens.

53:27

Yeah, exactly. No, it's every time you get destroyed happens if you fall or something like that.

53:32

Oh, you made a mistake. Yeah. So before we wrap it up here,

53:38

I'm just going to I'm just going to knock out some rumored sets

53:41

that are listed for this year. And we should pick a favorite, the leg.

53:44

Yeah, pick a favorite, because the Lego rumors are always so accurate.

53:49

You know what I mean? Like, it's just kind of sad that they can never keep it a secret.

53:53

But here we go. So maybe they don't want to because they're testing what sets actually are popular.

53:57

There is. And I even got the prices here as well.

54:00

That's crazy. So they will be releasing a refreshed Sith infiltrator for 70 dollars.

54:07

They will be. There's a set called.

54:09

Yeah, there's a set called Battle on Paridia for the Soka show

54:13

that takes about 40, 50 dollars price range.

54:17

There is a this is a big throwback for any of you guys who know this reference.

54:21

Jedi Bob is getting his own starfighter.

54:23

What? Yeah, Bob. Do you guys know who Jedi Bob is?

54:27

I have no idea. OK, so Jedi Bob was a minifigure included in one set.

54:32

Yeah, it was the original. I looked it up. Yeah.

54:35

Yeah. And this was the Republic, the original Republic gunship set in 2002.

54:40

And he was just like a generic Jedi.

54:42

Generic Jedi. Yeah, no name.

54:45

And it just a fan started calling him Bob.

54:47

That was it. He just he became like immortalized in Star Wars,

54:53

Lego fan lore as Jedi Bob.

54:55

Yeah. And I know I've been following on and off

54:59

just hardcore Lego Star Wars people over the last decade or so.

55:02

And I want to because you can write in or they'll do like votes, I guess.

55:06

You can vote for what sets you want them to make under some circumstances.

55:10

And the one they really wanted to do was when they redid the Republic gunship

55:14

is that you could pick which minifigs and most people wrote in Jedi Bob,

55:18

but they didn't do it. People got really mad. Interesting. Instead, they did for me.

55:21

So now they're fixing that. Now they're going back and fixing.

55:24

Yeah, because everyone complained. That's right. So, yeah, because because, you know, the Republic,

55:28

the new Republic gunship, the UCS one, they didn't put a Jedi Bob in there.

55:32

I think it's Mace Windu. It's Mace Windu. I think. Yeah, yeah. It's just a different different Jedi's and stuff.

55:36

But if you want the most popular with Jedi Bob, Mace Windu and Cody,

55:40

because there wasn't I think a high version of Cody.

55:43

Right. Well, I got I got Cody with my gunship, but that's not a UCS gunship.

55:46

That was the Clone Wars. I think it's specifically a specific version of Cody, though,

55:51

with like arm prints and a bunch of stuff. Oh, gotcha. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

55:54

Well, it's UCS sets. You know, all the figures are going to be better.

55:57

There was also a something called a dark Millennium Falcon for one hundred

56:01

and seventy dollars. What?

56:04

Yeah. Oh, sorry. Jedi Bob Starfighter. Forty pounds.

56:07

I don't know why it's pounds all of a sudden. But OK. Dark Millennium Falcon. One hundred and seventy dollars.

56:11

You can only when you open the box, you can only see it when lights are off.

56:15

OK, so this this sort of goes into like another sort of.

56:19

So I think Lego was the first to leak this.

56:21

But there's been a like a patent that's been filed for an entire.

56:26

What do you call it when it's like multiple companies

56:28

all releasing like something under the same like banner,

56:31

like a multi not multimedia, but like a multi product sort of label.

56:35

And it's called Star like Star Wars Dark Side, I think it's called.

56:38

And the Star Wars Dark Side stuff is going to just be like dark side

56:41

variations of stuff that we know from the movies.

56:44

So picture a Millennium Falcon, but like probably black and looks really evil.

56:49

That's weird. That will be the dark like triple zero.

56:52

Yeah, like an alternate reality. Yeah, like an alternate reality that like everything is like, you know,

56:57

just skewed and messed up. So is this related to Star Wars? What if so?

57:03

Yeah, because like the what if thing like, you know, like there's been rumors

57:06

like that they might do something like that.

57:09

And the only thing that we have right now is Star Wars Visions,

57:12

which is the anime series and very similar.

57:14

Yeah, it's it's a bit like a Star Wars. What if I guess, but it's just different, like people's different takes on

57:19

like, you know, just their own unique stories that are inspired by Star Wars

57:23

and sort of take place in a Star Wars like environment.

57:25

I wouldn't know, you know, they're not canon or anything like that.

57:28

But but yeah, this this dark Millennium Falcon, I think, is probably in line

57:32

with if they ever did like a Star Wars. What if like this would be kind of the thing?

57:35

You know, I want them to do a dark version of Luke's

57:38

Homestead with a dark and Peru.

57:41

Nice. You got a glow in.

57:45

Try to go glow in. Dark Peru.

57:55

X-Wing and Tie Fighter, that's, you know, we've seen many of those,

57:59

but that's getting re-released for one hundred and ten dollars.

58:01

Double set. A new Death Star coming out at two hundred dollars

58:05

and a set called Escape from the Sarlacc at 90.

58:08

I assume that's probably a Book of Boba set.

58:10

Maybe, maybe not. And weirdly enough, a buildable C3PO for one hundred and fifty.

58:16

And I assume this is like random set.

58:19

Yeah. Well, I assume the buildable 3PO is probably supposed to be a counterpart

58:23

to that sort of R2D2 model that they did, you know, not too long ago.

58:28

You know, I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about, but it was just

58:31

you know, it was like an R2D2, like a miniaturized kind of display model.

58:35

You know, OK. So, OK, out of all those, what would be your your go to?

58:39

I think Jedi Bob has my heart, but I'm intrigued by the dark Millennium Falcon.

58:44

I think that might have my wallet. Nice.

58:46

Got a seed to believe it, though. So I can picture the dark Millennium Falcon.

58:50

Like if you keep one of those things in the box, you know, the figures in that thing.

58:53

Oh, that's true. That's true. Like less than popular.

58:56

It's going to be it's going to be worth some money.

58:59

What are did you find a picture of somebody?

59:02

Go ahead. Sorry. Go ahead. I found a picture that somebody's made online of something similar.

59:07

And it looks awesome. Like it's Imperial. It's dark with, you know, gray and red highlights.

59:11

And it looks super cool. So if it looks anything like that, I'm in. Nice. Yeah, that's fair.

59:16

You raise a good point, though, Josh, with any lies.

59:19

Well, as in this, these might be good investments.

59:21

Actually, we talked about the value of. Yeah, for sure, because all of our listeners and all of us

59:27

are all going to have a copy of these sets and we're in storage.

59:29

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah.

59:31

I mean, like, do you remember when The Force Awakens came out?

59:34

They released the what was it called? The something the something shadow was a ship called.

59:40

You're talking about the guy from The Force Unleashed Star Killer.

59:44

Yeah. So they only made one rogue shadow.

59:47

I'm looking at the rogue shadow. That's the one. Yes. They only made one of those.

59:50

And that means they only made one Star Killer Galen Merrick,

59:54

Vader's apprentice figure. That's true. And I think that same set included like three other

1:00:00

or two other minifigures that are also like worth a lot.

1:00:02

So like the Starkiller figure is worth 80 dollars.

1:00:05

And, you know, they had like a battle damaged Darth Vader in there

1:00:08

with his helmet was all like shoot up.

1:00:10

Yeah, it was just the bottom piece. Yeah. Yeah.

1:00:12

And there was like maybe one other one. But but yeah, that was really wanted that set.

1:00:16

And I never bought it. Me neither. I bought the other one, the the one for the the MMO.

1:00:21

Yeah, it was like it was almost like a Millennium Falcon

1:00:24

version of a TIE fighter about that one. Yeah. For the Old Republic. Yeah. Right.

1:00:28

Because I thought that ship was super cool, too. Right.

1:00:30

Yeah. I think that that's got some money behind it, too.

1:00:32

But yeah, that's that's, you know, like sits like this,

1:00:35

like where there's just it's such a weird kind of variation.

1:00:37

You know, it might be it might be good to keep an eye on. I personally would probably get Jedi Bob Starfighter.

1:00:41

But I don't know.

1:00:43

That's just for own personal pleasure. Not not investing at all.

1:00:47

Yeah, Sean, what about you? I'm I always gravitate towards the cooler looking ship,

1:00:51

but probably the fifth infiltrator would be where I would go

1:00:55

or the Millennium Falcon. Nice. Yeah, I don't own a mall yet.

1:00:58

You don't have a mall. No, I don't. Maybe we'll get the infiltrator.

1:01:01

Man, I got lucky. So I had two Darth Vader's from like the original generation

1:01:05

and I traded my buddy for his Darth Maul from the original Sith infiltrator.

1:01:10

So you you gained. I gained a mall in exchange for a second Vader because I had to.

1:01:14

Gotcha. OK, that's a good trade. Yeah, it worked out well.

1:01:16

He was happy with it, too, because he prefers original trilogy.

1:01:21

Everybody's a winner. It was back when they had the chrome sabers.

1:01:24

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly.

1:01:26

I got a number of those. I don't have time because you get the music playing here.

1:01:29

But I thought it'd be fun if we all should pick one set

1:01:32

that we would like to be remade. Oh, right. It's a good question.

1:01:35

It's a good question. And I'll start it off because I want the Mos Espa pod race.

1:01:42

I always want they've they've released other.

1:01:44

I think they did one re-release version, but they were they were different.

1:01:49

I'm going to go with the Republic fighter tank,

1:01:51

the one that's right on the back here, because I always saw it.

1:01:54

But it was like they did. And it sucked. Yeah, they made it.

1:01:58

They made it smaller and like more crappy.

1:02:00

And that's why I didn't get it. But yeah, that's the one I would want them to make like a good version of.

1:02:05

You know, that's fair. Yeah. But you guys, I think I want to arc 170.

1:02:08

I've always loved that ship. They're so cool.

1:02:10

It is pretty sweet. It looks like something out of World War Two.

1:02:13

Yeah, that's a good one. What about you, Sean? Yeah, I'm just thinking either a pod racer or a slave one.

1:02:20

Slave one Django's version. I feel like that needs a refresh.

1:02:23

Has it? I feel like it's. Yeah, I almost the Django.

1:02:26

Yeah, the Django, the Django.

1:02:28

They keep making bobas. That's what I was going to say.

1:02:30

I feel like Boba's ship has been done so many times, but the one is the same ship

1:02:36

with every paid job. Come on, Lego.

1:02:39

Yeah, I know it's crazy.

1:02:41

I've got those Sharpies.

1:02:43

I'm going to drop a link to the playlist, the YouTube playlist

1:02:46

with all of the original commercials and teasers for all these sets, because

1:02:52

I feel like I feel like it's going to be useful for listeners to like kind of check

1:02:55

these out. But there's one in there for that original slave one.

1:02:59

And it is is referred to as a slave one, like in the in the commercial.

1:03:03

And like I know Disney. Yeah. And like Disney has tried to separate themselves from that from that name of the ship.

1:03:09

Right. So change Leia's outfit to you, right?

1:03:12

Isn't it her dancer outfit now? Well, I don't think they haven't remade Slave Leia since, you know, a couple of years ago.

1:03:20

That was the last one. And then and then they stopped making that stuff.

1:03:24

So, like, you know, if you own any product in regards to the return of the Jedi stuff,

1:03:29

like, yeah, yeah, then then, you know, hold on to it, because that's probably worth some money.

1:03:33

Right. I heard a rumor they're changing the name to the indentured servitude one.

1:03:43

Yeah, no more Hasbro Black Series or anything like that.

1:03:47

But yeah, I remember being a stink about.

1:03:49

Yeah, there's a big stink. Yeah, like, man, there's got to be a problem, you know,

1:03:53

somewhere. But here we are. So that's that's that's Lego Star Wars, everybody.
