You only get one shot! Your podcast introduction should be on point. So do you want to know what should be in your podcast introduction? In this episode I am going to tell you.
Of course we all know how important is to put the name of your podcast in your podcast introduction. That’s a given. The name of your podcast allows your listeners to identify the podcast they are listening to.
Now this is an important one. I cannot tell you how many times I went to listen to a podcast and it did not have the title of the episode in the introduction. This is not go because if I am in the car listening to a podcast. I may not have the ability to read the title especially while I am driving!
Many of the new cars have a feature that allows drivers to skip to the next podcast episode with the flick of my thumb on the steering wheel so I ( and so many others that listen to podcast on their way to and from work) can listen and change to another episode without having to look or read the title when I am driving. This is why it helps to here the episode title when we are listening while driving. It allows drivers to hear and not have to put themselves at risk of trying to read the podcast episode title while driving.
Intro music is not a huge requirement be it is helpful. It helps your podcast flow and make it sound professional.
It is always good to give your name simply to brand yourself and get others to put your name out in the podcasting world and social media. The more your name is out there the better chances of you being a familiar name in podcasting.
This part of your introduction is extremely important at it tells listeners what your Podcast (not the episode) is about. In this part of the introduction you are usually mentioning what or how your podcast helps others (its main purpose for existence).
Example of STFP Tagline: “We Help You Create and Grow and Improve Your Podcast”
Proving and concise content is very important because you don’t want your listeners/audience guessing what the episode is going to be about because if it is not what they expect you may lose your listeners/audience. Being clear and concise of what your episode will be about is about will minimize losing potential listeners.
SPONSORS (Optional)
The mentioning of the sponsor of your show can be at the beginning or middle of your podcast. Many usually don’t place the sponsor in the introduction as it may seem too commercial and not personal.
If you feel you cannot put all of the above mentioned in your intro you can always outsource it to to sources such as Fiverr. Fiverr does a great job and they have good people who can help you with voiceovers for a very generous small fee of $5.00.
