Stowaway is unusual for a space exploration sci-fi film in that its story is small, simple, and mostly grounded in reality. Instead, it finds subtler ways to subvert your expectations - when was the last time you saw a space movie without a white man in the cast? - and stands out among a sea of Netflix Originals by keeping a tight plot and maintaining excellent pacing from beginning to end.
