You cannot step into something new by
0:04
judging or hating where you are now . You
0:07
have to do it through desire
0:10
and through love the
0:12
desire to be this new you and to
0:14
love yourself enough to do it . Hello
0:20
, my loves , and welcome to the Purposeful Lifestyle
0:22
Development Podcast , where we discuss all
0:25
things thought , work and manifestation but
0:27
we use neuroscience in the study of the brain
0:30
to do so . I'm your host , tessa
0:32
Spiezak . I'm a board certified practitioner
0:34
, master , life and health coach and seasoned
0:36
executive speaker . If you're ready to
0:38
create your highest value lifestyle
0:40
and turn your dream life into a reality , you're
0:43
in the right place . Let's get right into
0:45
today's episode . Hello
0:49
, hello , my loves . I always start
0:51
this episode with welcome back to
0:53
you , but today I'm
0:55
starting with I'm back . It
0:58
has been a wonderful few
1:00
weeks taking a bit of a brain
1:02
break to travel with my
1:04
family , let myself recharge
1:06
, honestly regain
1:08
some brain power and
1:10
to be super real , allow
1:13
a bit of new creative
1:15
energy to come into play . So
1:18
thank you so much for your patience
1:20
, as I took these last few weeks
1:22
off from the podcast and
1:25
, to be quite honest , taking
1:27
a break was a really difficult decision
1:29
for me to make because , truthfully
1:32
, there's this big part
1:34
of me . That I mean for those of
1:36
you who have tuned in for a while now or for
1:38
those of you that know me . You know I
1:40
am a bit of a recovering perfectionist
1:42
. But there was this big part
1:44
of me that honestly wanted to
1:46
go through the life journey of
1:48
this podcast and be able to say
1:51
I never took a break . I
1:53
never missed a single week . Every
1:55
week was just as good as the week before
1:57
that , or even better , and I never missed
2:00
a beat . But
2:02
that's not how it worked out and , honestly , that's
2:04
not what I'm all about . I really
2:06
, at the core of it , want to make sure that I'm providing
2:09
you guys in my community with really
2:11
quality content that actually
2:13
does set you up for a good week ahead . And
2:16
I think intuitively and
2:18
I'm going to come back to intuition here in a minute
2:20
that plays on a lot of what I want to talk about
2:23
but intuitively I knew that
2:25
it was just really important to
2:27
get myself more realigned
2:29
again with my why and my
2:31
purpose and to share that with you guys
2:34
. It is to spread love and light
2:36
in the world . I truthfully , honestly
2:38
, at my core , believe that
2:40
when people are happier and when
2:42
we're more in tune with our purpose and
2:45
we're actively pouring good
2:47
, intentionally pouring good into
2:49
our own cup , which then
2:51
, as the flow of reality goes , our
2:54
cup begins to overflow
2:56
. All of those good things that we poured
2:58
into our own selves . That
3:00
starts to overflow into those around
3:02
us and when enough
3:04
of us do it , it really tips the scale
3:06
in favor of good and of
3:08
beauty in this world . So
3:11
, that being said , just
3:13
as a heads up for what this episode
3:15
is about today , I mean , of course , I
3:18
definitely want to give you a quick update on what
3:20
I've been up to and what's been going on
3:22
, and I'm really drawn to have
3:25
a conversation today about our
3:27
intuition , what I believe
3:29
is our sixth sense . I want to talk about how
3:31
we tap into it and how do we use
3:33
it , especially right
3:36
now , and especially in terms
3:38
of changing seasons or our
3:40
new eras in life . And
3:43
so for my folks that are ready to
3:45
change , or you're in the midst of an up
3:47
level or getting ready for an up level
3:49
, this one is for you
3:51
. So , super
3:54
quick , before I get into it , just for
3:56
a fun little backstory on my
3:58
summer travels , I want
4:00
to talk about that just super briefly , but I will
4:02
put a time marker in the show notes . If
4:04
you don't care at all and you're just here for
4:06
the juicy stuff and the message , you can skip
4:08
ahead to that . But I
4:11
think I had mentioned on my last
4:13
episode , before I took my break , that
4:15
I was traveling the summer and
4:17
this first place that we went was
4:19
Italy . Something that has been
4:22
on my dream board and my vision
4:24
board since forever . It
4:26
was to spend some summer
4:28
time in Italy and it manifested
4:31
for me . Actually I think honestly
4:33
I'm being a little silly , but a better way to say
4:35
that was that my mother-in-law
4:38
. She manifested it for herself
4:40
and I was just a happy byproduct
4:42
of her wish and her own intention
4:45
. We actually went as her
4:47
retirement celebration and
4:49
I guess she's been telling her family for years
4:52
, or even more like decades , since they
4:54
were kids , that when she retires
4:56
she wants a family trip to Italy
4:59
. She didn't care how it happened , she
5:01
wasn't even sure when she
5:03
was retiring , so that didn't matter , she
5:06
just knew that's what she wants . And a
5:08
side note here , she spent
5:10
her career as an epidemiologist , so
5:12
that's someone who studies infectious
5:15
disease and how it spreads . So
5:17
, needless to say , she's had a
5:19
busy few years before this coming
5:21
up retirement , so definitely
5:24
. It was absolutely , without a doubt , a
5:26
privilege to go . We were so lucky
5:28
and blessed to go , but the
5:30
fact is that when she finally decided
5:32
like hey , I'm retiring
5:35
, she told the family , like you know
5:37
, I've been telling you this your whole life pick
5:39
a date , find the travel agent , make
5:42
sure it happened . And we
5:44
stepped up to the plate . We made it happen . There
5:46
was nine of us for 10
5:48
days and we did a bit of a tour
5:50
. We traveled through the beautiful
5:53
Tuscan countryside , we
5:55
had some amazing wine and the most
5:57
breathtaking sightseeing . Then
6:00
we made our way to Rome to see the Sistine
6:02
Chapel and some old religious art and
6:04
, yeah , I'm still speechless
6:06
. Even so , many
6:08
years later and so many people
6:11
having gone through this area , the
6:13
energy of that place is still just
6:15
something else . And
6:18
even aside from that , just seeing the dedication
6:21
and the time and the thought that
6:23
went into the infrastructure to
6:25
do that detailed work , it
6:27
was something really , really incredible . And
6:29
if you ever get the opportunity , it's
6:32
worth the long lines , it's worth
6:34
the heat just to experience it . So
6:37
, after Rome , we went
6:39
to what I have to say is probably my
6:41
favorite place in the
6:43
whole world now , which is Capri . It's
6:46
this tiny little island up the west coast
6:48
of kind of mid Italy
6:51
. It's in the Tirian Sea and
6:53
it was like nothing I
6:55
have ever , ever seen . It
6:57
was very , very well to do Beautiful
7:00
shopping , gorgeous outdoor lunches
7:02
. We had way too many apparel
7:05
spritz and lemon cellos , but
7:07
it was a highlight of the summer , I think . For me , that
7:09
place , it speaks to my soul
7:12
. It was amazing . It made me
7:14
feel so motivated
7:16
I don't even know what the right word is
7:18
it just made me feel like hell
7:21
. Yes , this place is so
7:23
cool . But after Capri
7:26
, we had a look around Napoli
7:28
before heading home , dead
7:30
tired , but the whole trip was so great
7:33
to get to see so many pieces of this country
7:35
and by the end of it , you know , we fared
7:37
the jet lag pretty well , so I'm very
7:39
glad for that . So after we got
7:42
home from this once in a
7:44
lifetime , super special , super magical
7:46
trip , something that is so
7:48
different than what I'm used to , we
7:50
had like 72 hours to get a
7:52
little bit of sleep , get it together , recalibrate
7:55
in you know a completely different time
7:57
zone , and drive down to the
8:00
Gulf of Mexico for my mom's birthday . Now
8:02
, this is really , really special
8:04
and something that I could not miss , because
8:07
we have been going to the same beach
8:09
for her birthday every single
8:11
year since I was a little girl and
8:14
it is so , so special , not
8:16
only for her but for me too , and
8:18
now getting to bring my family
8:21
where I used to as
8:23
you know a six-year-old girl make
8:25
sand castles and sand
8:28
angels . I'm now bringing my family so
8:30
that's a little bit of a happy tear to
8:32
bring us all together very new season
8:34
, very beautiful , and I think
8:36
there's something really magical about revisiting
8:39
such familiar places and channeling
8:42
your favorite memories , especially
8:44
in contrast to the new
8:46
things that you're actively bringing into your
8:48
life . It's a really solid
8:50
anchoring or grounding point
8:52
to see what it is you want
8:55
and where you want to go moving
8:57
forward , for me at least . So
8:59
once we got home from that beach
9:02
trip to celebrate my mom , we
9:04
had just a minute before we packed up again
9:06
to head somewhere . That , I
9:08
gotta say , was a bit different
9:10
for me , and now I'm a traveler
9:12
. I love it , I prioritize it
9:14
in my life . It is very , very important
9:17
to me , but I've never really been
9:19
a mountain girly
9:21
. But y'all , the
9:24
last in line of our travels was
9:26
going to Whitefish , montana
9:28
somewhere . Admittedly , I gotta
9:30
say I've never really thought about
9:33
before , but I
9:35
get it . I get why y'all are so in
9:37
love with Montana . We were there
9:39
for our dear friend , kirstie in Holmes wedding
9:41
. It was so , so beautiful . We cried
9:44
tears of happiness , danced until
9:46
we were all barefoot . It was amazing
9:48
. But it was right on the lake
9:50
and it had the mountains in the background
9:53
. There's so many beautiful trails
9:55
. I love it . We did
9:57
so so much exploring . We had to buy bear
9:59
spray , of all things , did not
10:01
see any bears , which I
10:04
feel like I'm disappointed at
10:06
, but I I feel like that's also probably
10:08
very ignorant . I just wanted to see some off
10:10
in the distance . I've never seen a bear
10:12
in real life before , but
10:14
it was absolutely beautiful
10:17
. We went to Glacier National
10:19
Park and I'm a hiker , or
10:21
at least I thought I was , but I
10:23
have never seen anything
10:25
like this , so much untouched
10:28
land . It really really does
10:30
something for my soul . I
10:33
think it's another thing that , for me at least , that
10:35
same feeling , that grounding
10:37
, it's a real strong reminder of nature
10:40
and creation and all the forces
10:42
that be that are outside of us
10:44
and outside of human intervention
10:46
and human creation . I don't know
10:48
, it feels like a cleanse to me when you
10:50
get to be that connected
10:52
to nature . And again I
10:54
recognize how big of a blessing
10:57
and a privilege it is to be able to spend
10:59
a summer celebrating our parents
11:01
and celebrating our friends and getting
11:03
that time to unplug a bit
11:06
, to dive into the lessons
11:08
that we learn along the way while we aren't
11:10
so distracted . But one
11:12
concept that kept coming up for me
11:14
and just finding its way into
11:16
my thoughts while we swung from
11:18
that busy , hectic planning
11:21
to fully relaxed and unplugged
11:23
and then back again into the craziness
11:25
, but it was the thought of how
11:28
we get into a space where
11:31
we are able to intuitively
11:33
tap in , how to better
11:35
listen to your inner self and when
11:37
to trust it . And how do we differentiate
11:40
, how do we know when something
11:42
is an intuitive thought or a
11:44
nudge versus
11:46
maybe an older part
11:48
of our subconscious , some
11:51
subconscious thought , maybe a limiting
11:53
belief or something that doesn't serve
11:55
us at this time , et cetera . All
11:57
of that Because , as I said at the beginning
12:00
here , I believe our intuition
12:02
is just as
12:04
much of a sense for us as taste
12:07
, touch , sight , hearing
12:09
, all of that . But I believe that the only
12:11
reason we don't consider it to be is
12:14
because it's something that we can't
12:16
measure across the board . You can
12:18
measure your sight . Put something over your eye , tell
12:20
me , read this . You can measure
12:22
your hearing . Raise your hand when you hear the beep
12:24
, something like this . But you can't necessarily
12:27
test intuition in
12:29
that same way , but I do want
12:31
to talk about it a little . Let's talk about your
12:33
intuition . What is it ? Let's
12:36
start by defining it . Y'all know I really like to
12:38
start with a definition here , but intuition
12:41
is the ability to understand
12:44
something immediately , without
12:46
the need for conscious reasoning . So
12:49
that means it's the ability to understand
12:51
or just know something immediately
12:54
, right off the bat , based on your feelings
12:56
, rather than having to be presented
12:58
with facts , consider those
13:00
facts and intentionally
13:03
make a conscious choice . It's
13:05
more of a natural ability or a power
13:08
that makes it possible to know
13:10
something without direct proof of
13:12
evidence . It's a feeling that guides
13:14
a person to act in a certain way without
13:17
even fully needing to understand
13:19
why . And now this isn't
13:21
a woo-woo concept , even though I admittedly
13:24
personally use it in woo-woo ways
13:26
but in psychology it's believed
13:28
that intuition comes from natural
13:30
human powers of pattern
13:33
matching . That's all really good
13:35
pattern matching . And the mind , basically
13:37
instinctively , is able to
13:40
comb through stored experience
13:42
, even things that are in long-term memory
13:44
and the subconscious for similar
13:47
situations that allow us
13:49
to make those
13:51
instant in the moment judgments
13:54
just based off them
13:56
, based on those past experiences , basically
14:00
using all of our insights
14:02
faster than a way that we're
14:04
aware of or maybe even capable
14:08
to logically do , if
14:10
that makes sense . It's just a quick , natural
14:13
process in the brain and
14:15
super simple explanation for
14:17
this is highway hypnosis . We've
14:20
talked about this one before on the podcast
14:22
just because it is such a well-known phenomena
14:24
and something that I think most of us
14:27
have experienced . But highway
14:29
hypnosis is where someone
14:31
who's driving has traveled for
14:33
miles without a conscious
14:35
thought about the activity of driving
14:37
the car . Especially this happens when
14:39
it's a route they've taken over and over again
14:41
. But the brain knows what to expect
14:43
. Therefore , it knows what to look for and it
14:46
lets you kind of go into a bit of
14:48
autopilot . And
14:50
there are more arguments , which I also have explained
14:52
before that intuition was
14:55
a survival instinct gained
14:57
in that older part of our brain through
14:59
our hunter-gatherer days . But
15:02
we know that the brain can't
15:04
function if we are in constant hyperdrive
15:06
, actively thinking about and scanning everything
15:09
. We can't do it just like our
15:11
ancestors couldn't do that . So
15:13
instead , instead
15:15
of the brain constantly scanning for
15:18
a threat even when there is no sight
15:20
of one around , the subconscious
15:22
takes over in a way , and it's trusting
15:25
that what you already know and
15:27
the signs of danger that you already know or the signs
15:29
of change that you already know , like think
15:32
back hunter-gatherer days , just like
15:35
wrestling , leaves in the distance
15:37
where it should be quiet , and you
15:39
know it's normally quiet . You
15:41
may instinctively know that that could be a predator
15:43
and your body prepares for it and you're
15:46
ready to run and your heartbeat starts faster
15:48
and your adrenaline starts going . All
15:50
of this happens without you having
15:52
to have the instinctive thought
15:54
of I believe that there is a predator
15:57
, because this piece of land is normally
15:59
quiet and I heard wrestling
16:01
, that sounded like footsteps . You don't have to
16:03
go through all of that . It's just I
16:06
snapped . I don't know if you could hear that , but it's really
16:08
quick , instantaneous
16:10
, and that part of the intuition
16:13
is what I want to talk about today . Sometimes
16:16
our intuition is telling us something
16:19
, but it's not so instantaneous
16:21
. It's more of that gut
16:23
feeling and a big time
16:26
where I think that really comes into play
16:28
for us . When we get that gut feeling , that
16:30
internal draw , is
16:32
when our intuition is telling us that what we're
16:34
doing now does not serve
16:36
us to our best and maybe that just
16:39
means that it's time to move
16:41
into a new season , greet something
16:43
new , a new era , if you will
16:45
. Now I kind of went into
16:47
what I've been up to and clearly my
16:50
last season blessed to be able to
16:52
do it was about rest
16:54
, rejuvenation , travel
16:57
, learning , applying the lessons
16:59
that I know and I've learned along the way , and
17:02
that season really allowed
17:04
me to create an
17:06
intuitive space that
17:09
was able to tell me very clearly
17:11
Look , I'm refreshed , I'm
17:13
good , this season
17:15
served its purpose and it's come
17:17
to an end and I am ready to put the work in
17:20
and when I do and I'm ready to rebuild
17:22
that structure , rebuild
17:24
that growth zone , I
17:26
know it'll be for something great
17:29
. I don't have fear necessarily
17:31
around it , or even if I do , it's not something
17:33
enough to keep me away . But
17:35
I'm ready for that new season and
17:38
I believe we all ebb and flow between the seasons
17:40
in our life . I did an episode
17:42
gosh , I couldn't even tell you maybe
17:44
last summer , but it's titled EBS and
17:46
Flows . That was one of my
17:48
most popular ones . It was , I
17:51
think , pretty decently insightful
17:53
, for especially what a lot of the folks that
17:55
I was working with at the time . You know again
17:57
, probably around the same time of the year , but
17:59
it's that ebbing and flowing between the
18:02
seasons of our lives , changing
18:04
, growing , building and then
18:07
enjoying and living in that growth
18:09
, slowing down and being a bit
18:11
softer than we are when
18:13
we are in that more rigid growth
18:16
mode . So I want to talk about
18:18
that shift , the shift when
18:20
you know it's time to move into
18:22
something new . You intuitively
18:25
know that you're ready for the new season
18:27
, for that new era , and you're ready
18:29
for something to change . That
18:32
feeling is a strong one , and it can show up in
18:34
a lot of different ways . Maybe
18:36
it starts to feel
18:38
like you're stuck , kind
18:40
of like stuck in the mud . Or maybe
18:43
, when you finish your day , you have that
18:45
familiar thought of ugh
18:48
, I wish it had gone this
18:50
way instead . I wish I had done this instead
18:53
. I wish my life looked like this . And you know that
18:55
whatever you're doing now , while it
18:57
might have suited you , for a thousand
19:00
different reasons , a whole host
19:02
of different reasons , anything from that's what you knew that
19:05
made sense to you needed comfort
19:07
after something else . Whatever
19:10
that reason is , you
19:12
know it doesn't serve you anymore and
19:14
a lot of us can be directed
19:17
to get these feelings in
19:20
a few different ways . A
19:22
lot of times some external change begets the change you want to
19:24
see in you . And let me explain to you what I mean by that
19:26
, because there's a few different ways this can show
19:31
up . I know , for me personally
19:33
and a lot of us , I'm directed by the seasons . Mention this a little
19:37
bit before , I believe it was actually in that ebbs and flips , but I'm not sure
19:39
what it was in Flo's episode . But
19:42
I'm still a bit conditioned
19:44
by the seasons . You know , january
19:47
to March , I'm in that growth , pushing
19:49
, creating zone , but
19:51
then about springtime , march
19:53
to May , it's mine and my loved one's birthdays
19:56
. It's my favorite season . It's
19:58
, you know , everything is beautiful . I'm still
20:00
feeling really inspired , but I
20:03
am also more inspired to
20:05
enjoy the growth that I've put in
20:07
the beginning of the year . Then , about
20:09
June to August is , you
20:11
know , summertime . My kiddos home
20:13
work is changing a little bit . I
20:16
get to at least , even
20:19
if I'm not changing my activities as much . My
20:21
head space is . I want to relax
20:24
and allow the flow and
20:26
allow the almost
20:28
feminine side of the more masculine
20:31
that I had been in for that year is I had
20:33
been pushing , growing , grinding , and then
20:35
it's time to relax
20:37
, enjoy and receive it
20:39
right Before
20:41
moving into the holiday season
20:43
, which for me is about family
20:46
gratitude and I am less
20:48
so rigid on myself , I'm much
20:50
more outwardly focused , but
20:52
this is the point in the year that I'm
20:55
ready to get back into that growth zone . I'm ready
20:57
to build and move and groove and grow
20:59
and all of that . But
21:01
this can also happen for a lot of people with
21:04
just the normal happenings
21:06
of life , which also can be a bit seasonal
21:08
too . Maybe right now at this time
21:10
, if you've just gone back to school or
21:13
someone in your house has , or there's
21:15
some change in dynamic after summer
21:17
, like this , is a very popular time to move
21:20
or again just create that
21:22
new routine , like for me
21:24
, my travel season is over , my
21:26
step son is back in school , my husband
21:29
is getting busier with the work in his
21:31
universities , and so it makes
21:33
sense that , aside from
21:35
my normal seasonal flow , the
21:38
lives of the people around me are changing too , so
21:40
it helps direct that new era
21:43
, and so one of the things I
21:45
coach on a lot is that when there's
21:47
already some change in dynamic
21:49
, like you are already navigating
21:52
some change in your schedule or
21:55
something like that , just a change in your life
21:57
. I think it's the best time to really
21:59
catapult into that new change that you
22:01
want , basically using that
22:03
change , especially if
22:06
there is an inherent change in your schedule
22:08
. Use that to help build another
22:10
one . It's a lot easier to
22:12
create new habits and build out
22:14
new habit stacks when you're somewhat
22:17
forced out of old habits . You're not
22:19
having to will your way out or
22:21
try your way out . It's that life
22:23
change . So you're just away from
22:25
it and instead of falling back into something
22:27
that you don't like , intentionally
22:29
creating something new . But
22:32
regardless of how this time comes
22:34
about , you know when
22:36
it's time and most
22:39
people will change . Even though I don't necessarily
22:41
like this sentence , it's
22:45
a truth , it's very true . But
22:47
when the pain or discomfort of
22:50
staying the same is greater
22:52
than a discomfort of change
22:54
, that's when most people will change
22:57
. And I don't say discomfort like a dirty
22:59
word , I'm more so referencing
23:01
that pick your hard
23:04
saying , and I think you might have heard this one
23:06
before . If you haven't , it's so good . But
23:08
this pick your hard quote
23:10
lists out hards and the
23:12
opposites of so it goes
23:15
. Yes , marriage is hard
23:17
, but divorce is hard too , so
23:19
pick your hard . Staying
23:22
fit is hard , but obesity
23:24
is hard , so pick your hard . Being
23:27
in debt is hard , but so is
23:29
being financially disciplined . The
23:31
pain of not communicating versus
23:34
the pain of having a hard conversation
23:36
, right Depending on the conversation
23:39
usually and
23:41
of course we're not talking about specific outliers
23:43
here but you get the sentiment that you
23:45
get to pick your hard . So
23:47
, yes , change can be hard . We've
23:50
talked about that . It's difficult for the brain
23:52
. We're not really wired that
23:54
way . The brain is naturally
23:56
resistant to uncertainty
23:58
. I've said it before . But the brain's
24:00
whole job is to help protect you from
24:02
threats , to keep you alive , even
24:05
if things aren't life or death situations
24:07
. The brain doesn't really register
24:09
it on a scale that way . So
24:12
it's important to know that
24:14
, yeah , routines , patterns
24:16
. They provide us a sense of security , and
24:19
trying to deviate from that pattern
24:21
or that routine that you've already set
24:23
in can trigger
24:26
some discomfort . So please
24:28
refer back to choose your hard . But
24:30
there's also a good side of that coin Is
24:33
that the brain really likes routine
24:36
, likes pattern , so
24:38
we can create that new pattern
24:40
that becomes more familiar
24:42
and becomes that new . But
24:45
I like to be aware so that when things
24:47
are difficult . We're not blaming ourselves , we're
24:50
not putting any judgment on ourselves . We're like oh yeah
24:52
, this is just what the brain does . Change
24:54
introduces us to some type of uncertainty
24:57
that activates the brain's threat
24:59
response . So that's why
25:01
even the prospect of change whether
25:03
it's good change or not , right it can evoke
25:06
a little resistance . It's just our brain
25:08
perceiving it as a potential threat . It has nothing
25:10
to do with our motivation , our discipline
25:12
, our drive , how much we want it
25:15
, what kind of person we are , nothing like that
25:17
. It's just how we human . It's
25:19
how the brain works . So , knowing
25:22
all of this , how do we say
25:24
OK , cool , but how do we change
25:26
something about ourselves and change
25:28
something about our day to day activities to
25:31
be more in line with what you want ? Well
25:34
, I'm going to give you the formula for
25:36
exactly how to apply this to your
25:38
life . And , of course , since
25:40
our reasoning is backed up in neuroscience
25:43
, so is the formula as always
25:45
. First and foremost
25:47
sorry if this sounds a bit repetitive , but we
25:49
always got to start here , guys , we
25:52
have to cultivate some kind of awareness . This
25:55
is going to help your prefrontal cortex
25:57
override whatever default
25:59
patterns and how
26:01
it's set in its ways , so to speak . So
26:04
how to move away from
26:06
the patterns and the habits and
26:09
the things that we want to change . We have
26:11
to cultivate some awareness . So what does that
26:13
mean ? Take your day inventory
26:15
. Take a very serious
26:17
and real look at what's going on
26:20
in your life , what your schedule looks like , what
26:22
conscious and unconscious thoughts
26:24
you have throughout the day , which
26:27
ones of those are serving you , which
26:29
ones do you want to keep , maybe uplift
26:31
, do a little more , give yourself a pat on the back
26:33
for , or which ones do
26:35
you want to do away with , even if
26:37
you're not sure yet how
26:39
you want to get rid of them ? Just note
26:41
the ones you want to get rid of and
26:44
then walk through the steps of your day
26:46
and actually feel through the
26:48
steps of your day . And this is in thought
26:50
, right , because emotions are energy
26:52
in motion . So how does your energy
26:55
feel when you think about
26:57
your day ? What feels like flow
26:59
and what feels like resistance
27:01
or a block in the road ? And
27:04
I really suggest trying to do this as
27:06
objectively as you can , meaning
27:08
don't put any judgment on
27:11
the things you want to change . Here's an example
27:13
. I just did this with a client before , so
27:16
think of it this way Maybe
27:18
one of the things that's holding
27:20
you back from stepping into your
27:22
next era and your next season and
27:24
being the you that is more you that you want
27:26
to be . But something that's holding you back
27:29
is your sleep routine
27:31
. You're staying up way too late and that
27:33
ruins your morning and you don't
27:35
know how to change it . And da , da , da , da da . I
27:38
don't want you to be the
27:40
judge here . I don't want you to judge that
27:42
because , objectively , being
27:45
up at two in the morning it's not
27:47
a good or bad thing . There
27:49
is no arbitrary value
27:51
and it doesn't change the type of
27:53
person you are when you are awake
27:56
versus asleep . However
27:58
, when we've moved past that judgment
28:00
, we can recognize
28:02
that being up at 2 am
28:05
does change
28:07
how you go through your day . Right , it
28:09
does take away that morning routine . It does
28:11
make you groggy x , y , z
28:14
, so we want to correct it . But
28:16
I need you to hear this clearly you
28:18
cannot step into something new by
28:20
judging or hating where you are now . You
28:23
have to do it through desire
28:25
and through love the desire
28:27
to be this new you and to love
28:30
yourself enough to do it , and
28:33
you want to use really mindful
28:35
and thoughtful practices to do so
28:37
. It might take a while to
28:39
feel through and be able to feel through
28:41
what you need to do . And this is why things
28:44
like meditation , journaling
28:46
, yoga , tapping , whatever they're
28:48
so important , because they give
28:51
you that chance to think . You
28:53
can brain dump , you can clear the
28:55
noise , you can get past the normal
28:57
ruminating rolodex
28:59
of thoughts right . To
29:02
create that new habit . You're actually
29:04
going to have to rewire old
29:06
neural pathways or old ways
29:08
of thinking , just ingrained thought patterns
29:10
, and create a new response to those
29:13
situations . It requires
29:15
mindfulness in terms of
29:17
think of it this way , in terms of your
29:19
conscious awareness of your
29:22
own brain's behaviors and patterns at
29:24
the very moment that they occur . That
29:27
way you are able to
29:29
be in control , to be in the driver's seat
29:31
and change those habits into
29:34
the direction that you want . Then
29:36
the key is to keep
29:38
your focus there . Keep your
29:40
focus on the thing that you want . I
29:43
remind you guys , get clear
29:46
on what that ideal day
29:48
looks like . Create that focus
29:50
in your mind and keep visualizing
29:53
it Literally . This is my challenge to you Schedule
29:56
out a time for you to visualize
29:58
and go through the motions . If you can have
30:00
it stack on this , great . If that's
30:02
maybe taking a piece of your hot girl
30:04
walk or your walk outside and
30:07
visualizing that perfect day without your
30:09
headphones in , great , awesome . If
30:11
that is setting five minutes
30:13
to close your eyes down , quiet
30:16
your head , space down and sit after
30:18
a workout , great . If you
30:20
want to start taking a bath and you'll do it there , I don't
30:22
care Whatever makes more
30:24
sense to you , but schedule
30:27
in that time to
30:29
visualize and move through
30:32
the feelings of
30:34
this new day . Your
30:36
brain doesn't know if you're just thinking about something
30:38
or you're actually experiencing
30:41
this . We've gone through
30:43
that right . Let your brain get used to this
30:45
new reality , to this new schedule
30:47
, to seeing it , to seeing this new set of habits
30:50
, to feeling it , whatever that is . Let
30:52
yourself practice this day in thought
30:54
so that when
30:57
you actually do it in action , it
30:59
is so much easier to go through the motions
31:01
and your brain isn't fighting you
31:03
with the fear of change or the fear
31:05
of newness . It's used to this , it's seen it , she
31:08
knows right . This
31:10
is what allows you to build those
31:13
entirely new neural pathways through
31:15
repetition and practice
31:17
of thinking and
31:19
feeling and acting . We're not
31:22
just doing the thing a thousand times
31:24
, we're thinking through it , we're feeling through it and
31:26
then , when we go to do it in person . It
31:28
is so much easier
31:30
. You are thinking about the new day
31:33
, the new reality , feeling through it , would feel
31:35
and acting more and
31:37
more in accordance with it , and
31:39
your brain isn't fighting you . It's
31:41
helping you along because this is what it knows
31:43
. It becomes so much easier . So
31:46
, as you get going , base
31:48
your habits on your desired identity
31:50
, who you want to be , who that next season
31:53
or era of you is . Who
31:56
you want to be and what you want to create
31:58
to receive this new era . This
32:00
means making your habits
32:02
a bit of your life project for
32:05
the time of the change . So
32:07
if you're like me , for instance , and
32:09
you're moving from that summer
32:11
flow , the rest period , into
32:14
a growth-focused period , or
32:16
maybe that means you're changing jobs , or
32:18
you are going to school and maybe
32:20
you've got a job , maybe your kids are back in
32:22
school . Whatever the case may be
32:24
, if it's time for you to
32:26
move into a new hard , that
32:29
is the formula based on
32:31
your brain . Figure out where
32:33
you are , what you like
32:36
about it and what you don't like
32:38
about it . Take inventory on your triggers
32:40
and your responses in the areas that
32:42
you want to change . Then get
32:44
clear on what you'd really really like instead
32:47
and script it out . Get comfortable
32:49
with your actual desire and
32:51
get comfortable visualizing yourself
32:54
doing exactly that . Then
32:57
, and only then , do we need to start
32:59
really getting
33:01
into that action . Is it so much
33:03
easier now ? We're not fighting against that resistance
33:06
Every single time you do
33:08
something , even the tiniest little
33:10
thing , if it's a new thought , the
33:12
new baby action , something you do or
33:14
don't do , whatever it is , even if it is the
33:16
smallest grain of rice
33:19
, little baby thing that is closer to what you want
33:21
and that aligns with that new you and
33:23
your new season , I want you to recognize
33:25
it . I want you to congratulate yourself
33:28
with a little pat on the back . I
33:30
want you to continue making those changes , even
33:32
if it's just little grains of rice at a time
33:34
. Remember
33:37
, we all get to pick our hard . I'm
33:39
going to leave you with this question today what
33:42
would you rather ? You are hard
33:44
to be ? Hard because
33:46
you're learning and working towards who you want to
33:48
be , or hard
33:51
because you know you aren't
33:53
living up to your own potential or your own desires
33:56
and your intuition is yelling
33:58
at you that you deserve more or you deserve different
34:00
. I'm here to tell you if
34:03
you desire it , you deserve it . My loves
34:05
, I cannot wait to hear what
34:07
this new season has in store for you
34:10
, whatever that growth piece is for you
34:12
. All my love to you specifically
34:15
and if you haven't done so , I
34:17
would so appreciate if this resonated
34:19
with you leave a positive review , let
34:22
me know what's going on with you
34:24
, what helped , especially
34:26
now that we're back in action . We're talking
34:28
and we've got the conversation back open
34:30
again . When you leave a review , when
34:33
you leave some stars , something like
34:35
that , maybe even share
34:37
, what that's going to do is invite others to
34:39
join that conversation with us too . Put
34:41
this up in the algorithm so we get this conversation
34:44
with an even larger , growingly
34:47
wonderful community . And
34:49
to everyone who tuned in this week , thank you so
34:51
much . I missed you . I'm so glad
34:53
to be back . Have a wonderful week
34:55
. I'll talk to you soon and I can't
34:57
wait to hear your stories . So make sure you
34:59
write in , let me know , either on my
35:01
socials or at info
35:04
at purposeful lifestyle development
35:06
dot com . Talk to you soon
35:08
. But alright , my loves
35:10
, that's where I'll leave us today . I want to thank you so
35:13
much for joining in on this conversation
35:15
with me , and each week , every Monday , we're going
35:17
to be posting a new episode going
35:19
a little bit deeper into the conversation
35:22
of what you can do to train
35:24
your brain on purpose to really allow
35:26
for the lifestyle that you want
35:28
to live . Until next time , my loves . In
35:30
the meantime , here's to your health and your
35:32
happiness .
