This week Ben Mullin of the New York Times joins the show to discuss a row engulfing NPR after a long-serving editor hit out at the organisation in an excoriating essay.
Uri Berliner had worked at NPR for 25 years. Then he released an essay for The Free Press and went on its podcast, raising a number of concerns about the direction of the organisation he clearly cares for. He expressed fears about a lack of ideological diversity and coverage of some key stories. The fallout was swift and significant and Berliner has since left the organisation. We try to unpack everything that has happened and explain the importance of NPR.
