Laszlo welcomes Dr. Naoko Kato onto the CHP to talk about her new book: "Kaleidoscope: The Uchiyama Bookstore and its Sino-Japanese Visionaries." During one of the most fertile periods in modern Chinese literature following the May Fourth Movement, Uchiyama Kanzō operated a bookstore and cultural salon on Sichuan Road that attracted many big names among leftist writers and intellectuals. Most notable among the regular visitors was Lu Xun. Uchiyama and Lu Xun enjoyed a very special friendship that embodied Uchiyama's aspirations for friendship and understanding between the people of China and Japan. You can get the book here: https://earnshawbooks.com/product/kaleidoscope/ here: https://a.co/d/8TMjqKS or here: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/kaleidoscope-naoko-kato/1142725298 Learn more about your ad choices.
