This is a perfect example of why I stopped my NYTimes subscription. My stomach began to churn listening to this episode. I've never known a victim of a gun use encounter. I moved out of the US in the 1990s, However I make a point to listen to ALL NYTimes podcasts, I vote in EVERY CITY AND FEDERAL election. I moved out of the US but I can't move the US out of me. I care with as much restraint as I can manage about 1. inequality, 2. Gun issues, If I subscribed I would spend too much time fretting over the US society
