Dr. Ben Boyce is a lecturer at University of Colorado and University of Denver, where he teaches undergraduate communications classes.Boyce served years in prison for crimes resulting from his addiction. After his release from a Michigan prison in 2005, he enrolled in college and eventually earned his PhD.

David Poses is a writer, speaker and activist, and author of the bestselling addiction memoir, "The Weight of Air: A Story of the Lies About Addiction and the Truth About Recovery." Poses's writing focuses on challenging the disregard of science and evidence in drug treatment prevention and policy. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and New York Daily News, and he has appeared on national TV and radio shows including CBS’ The Doctors.Poses advocates for a shift from punitive, self-defeating prohibition laws and logic to an approach based on evidence, compassion, and the Harm Reduction philosophy.

Morgan Godvin is a drug harm reduction advocate and writer. She is also a student at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health in Portland.As a harm reductionist, Godvin performs syringe exchange, naloxone distribution, overdose prevention outreach, and infectious disease testing. In addition to her studies, she works as a freelance writer covering topics of drug policy and criminal justice. She received her Emergency Medical Technician certification from Portland Community College in 2012.While in active addiction she was arrested and jailed many times, eventually being sentenced to five years in federal prison. Her activism and advocacy now center around reducing the harms associated with drug use, preventing overdose death, and improving access to higher education in prison. She is a member of the Oregon Consortium for Higher Education in Prison, and she was confirmed to the Portland Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission in 2020.

Dr. Bill Yousman is an academic and teacher of media literacy. Currently, he is Associate Professor and Director of the Media Literacy and Digital Culture graduate program at Sacred Heart University.Dr. Yousman's work focuses on the role of media in the construction of ideology, in shaping perceptions of race, and its role in democracy. Chandra Bozelko is a writer whose work focuses on issues related to criminal justice reform, especially prison labor. Bozelko served more than six years in a maximum-security facility in Connecticut for nonviolent crimes that remain on appeal. While in prison, she became the first incarcerated person to have a regular byline in a publication outside of the facility. Her column, “Prison Diaries,” ran in The New Haven Independent.Bozelko's writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, USA Today, US News and World Report, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Lily, Forbes, Elle, Ms. Magazine, Quartz, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, and Wired. Her first book, a book of poetry called “Up the River: An Anthology,” was published in 2013, while she was still incarcerated.Bozelko has received two awards from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, three from the Connecticut Press Club in 2018, and two from the National Federation of Press Women.Bozelko also works for a nonprofit that trains volunteers to enter correctional facilities and tutor incarcerated students as they prepare for academic milestones like passing the GED or taking college classes.Bozelko received her B.A. in Philosophy from Princeton University.
