In our first episode, Safia meets one of the UK’s best known environmentalists and activists George Monbiot. They discuss his talk at the Oxford Brookes University Annual GPES Lecture, “Environmental Breakdown and How to Stop It.”

George Monbiot is an author, Guardian columnist and environmental campaigner. His best selling books include Feral: Rewilding the Land, Sea and Human Life and Heat: How to stop the Planet Burning. His latest is Out of the Wreckage: a New Politics for an Age of Crisis. His TED talk, How Wolves Change Rivers has been viewed over 40m times.

In 1995 Nelson Mandela presented him with a United Nations Global 500 Award for outstanding environmental achievement. He has also won the Lloyds National Screenwriting Prize for his screenplay ‘The Norwegian‘, a Sony Award for radio production, the Sir Peter Kent Award and the OneWorld National Press Award.
