What are the signs that your child might have gender identity questions? How do you create an environment where your kids feel comfortable talking to you about gender identity?
These can be difficult, uncomfortable questions for many parents, but if we hold a lens of loving curiosity and attempt to understand the journey of self exploration your child is on, it will make it that much easier for all parties.
Dr. Nicole Lipkin speaks with psychotherapist Coleman Kraus, who specializes in working with adolescents and young adults, LGBTQ+ identities and exploration, eating disorders, trauma, and life transitions.
Coleman offers great advice for parents on how to create a gender-inclusive environment for their children, and suggests seeking out gender expansive experiences in order to normalize that world for both parent and child.
Additionally, Coleman shares their own experience growing up in a body that didn’t match how they felt internally, feeling like they had to hide their true identity and the trauma that created for them.
Guest: Coleman Kraus, psychotherapist.
