Swedish people love to brag about our country’s wealth, as you can tell, but moving backwards into our past means facing a literal dumpster fire of a society. Today, I’m going to tell you about a time in Nordic history where the rates for crimes such as robbery, murder and theft were sky-high. A time when people were completely at the mercy of nature’s whims. A time of hunger and death. This is the story about the hunger years 1867-1869.
