The atmosphere that Nate creates with his stories is so wonderful. They take you out the mondaine and make you listen. Really listen. To the poetic justice, or lack thereof. The changes that have occurred in society or .. the lack thereof. All beautiful little histories, crafted by Nate and the team. I always listen to an episode when it hits my feed.
I listen to a lot of podcasts and this has been my favorite since I found it in 2016. Nate DiMeo crafts enticing slices of humanity from across space and time with impeccable sounds design. It is a history podcast that is more interested in feeling than fact but has the research chops to fit in with more stodgy pods. Listen in a dark room while doing nothing else and be transported. If I have one qualm, it is that the arc of the stories DiMeo likes to tell are very similar. After a while you can anticipate the story beats. That said, it is still worth listening to every episode.
Lovely haunting stories from American history. Short, but like poems, not rushed. Recommended.
Beautiful audio art on out large and small moments in history. Just listen, any description will make it sound dry, and it is anything but. The personal storytelling brings me to tears on a regular basis.
Like pearls from history. Small glimpses into another age and time, often from a rarely told perspective. As a non-American, I never though I'd enjoy a podcast about American history this much, but it is absolutely delightful.
Episodes are short so I managed to binge all episodes (back till 2008!) in a few weeks, loved it.
One of the most unique and special podcasts out there. I'm so glad this show exists.
The Memory Palace has been comfortably in my top three podcasts since I first discovered it some six or seven years ago, playing each new episode as soon as I see them appear in my podcast feed.Nate has crafted a beautiful thing here, a small pocket of warm humanity that bridges the divide between what we were and what we now are, a reminder that we’re not all that far removed from our forebears. Short biographies of people and places, of events and attitudes; tiny vignettes plotting a course through the last century or so, giving us a glimpse of what makes us who we are.I love The Memory Palace so much that, frustrated at not being able to find anything similar, I attempted to emulate it with my own podcast. Perhaps one day I’ll reach the same level of warmth and heart with my own work. Perhaps.
The memory palace is one of my favorite things to listen to, I have listened to every episode at least twice if not more. Nate is a gifted storyteller who really brings a fresh look at history and the ways it can be told.
Always interesting, varied, intriguing. I love this podcast.
Refreshing and easy to listen to. A wonderfully serene kind voice. Perfect for relaxing reflection. A bit sad. I will not listen while running. Jerri
Nate DiMeo is a story telling genius.
excellent and lovely and enlightening!
One of my favorites, great stories told by a master story teller. Just listening to Nate's voice is a pleasure.
One of the best, and most underrated podcasts out there. Excellent storytelling, short and concise, a wide variety of topics, and 150+ episodes to get into as you see fit. Nate is a damn good host, and it shows each episode.
