In 1971, Judy Brady’s I Want A Wife speech made its debut in the first edition of Ms Magazine. Now almost fifty years later, Brady’s work is still a cornerstone in the moment for equality and the power of women, while continuing to be a pillar of literature. But today you're going to listen to an homage for the fight that Judy Brady and the women of her time and before, had. Directed by Dakota Fox and Grace Manning, Brady’s original words have been adapted to help give a voice to the idea of three women who are constricted by the values of their time and what it means to be a wife. In this 1955 world, the women, Joan Wattson played by Rachel Gorelick, Morgan Smith played by Cate Dresner, and Shirley Hardstark played by Sasha Gillespie have been written by Dakota Fox to convey the power that wives and women have, and what equality and unity has done; and what it could have done sooner for women. You will hear Dakota Fox as William Smith and Sawyer Zook as John Hardstark. With a cameo by Walker Shneckenberger. Settle in as Joan, Morgan and Shirley read the original except for the 1955 Housekeeping monthly in preparation for their husbands arrival home.
