Welcome to The Parallax! My name is Juan Alfaro, and I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+. I -- like so many other people -- have had quite the experience thus far in this community, and I cannot wait to see where the future takes me. However, I know that the journey I am on now will never be this smooth. . . From rigorous societal standards to having no one in your life who understands what you are going through, the LGBTQ+ journey can be hard. The world is already a scary and weird place, yet being a part of the LGBTQ+ only adds to how dynamic and complex ones life can get. Now, you may be asking yourself, "Well, what's with the name?" The word parallax is defined by Meriam-Webster as "the apparent displacement or the difference in apparent direction of an object as seen from two different points not on a straight line with the object."
