Ready for a little dose of reality? The Average American woman is a size 16. But, the average towel is sized to fit someone who is a size 6/8. What??? While we are ranting- what about websites not keeping their information up-to-date. It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack when you’re looking for closures of restaurants, theaters, stores, piers, and other places of public access. Please and Thank You!

https://www.pawswithacause.org/

Paws with a Cause was founded in 1979 by Michael and Candye Sapp after Mike agreed to train a dog to alert a deaf couple of important sounds, such as their baby crying. Paws With A Cause has grown into a national organization which trains service dogs for people with physical disabilities, seizure response dogs for people who have epilepsy, hearing dogs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and service dogs for children with Autism.

Paws With A Cause depends on donations as they receive more than 2,000 assistance dog application requests annually and their clients do not pay for assistance dogs. It costs over $30,000 to breed or rescue, raise, train, place, and provide ongoing support for an assistance dog. It is not covered by insurance, and there is no government funding available to sponsor assistance dogs.

Paws With A Cause has a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator

Jess Rave - Westminster Free Cliniic

https://westminsterclinic.org/

Westminster Community Care Center is a private, non-profit community care center serving the working poor and uninsured of Ventura County. We also serve as a training site for high school students considering careers in healthcare.

Westminster Free Clinic is 100% free. We serve as a safety-net for those with no other affordable options and fill gaps as needed.

As a community care center, our goal is to provide low-income people with early access to healthcare, and health supporting programs and services, in order to prevent more costly mental and physical health problems. To achieve this, we understand that the health environment must also change, so we partner with the community to inspire both individual and larger scale change.

The clinic is first come first serve, providing access to health care to over 100 patients on Wednesday nights starting at 5 pm in Thousand Oaks and Tuesday nights at 5 pm in Oxnard (starting in 2020). We do not take patients with Medi-Cal, medicare, or other insurance programs.
