Insurance has always been at the forefront of care home operators' minds - both as a significant cost and also in shaping the way care homes run and manage risk.

And now the COVID pandemic has brought care sector insurance into even sharper relief, with many care providers finding themselves without cover for COVID-related risks - in some cases risks that they were asked to voluntarily assume to help the NHS - and many facing increasing premiums and reduced coverage at renewal time.

In Episode 3 of The Talking Care Podcast, we are joined by Mike Padgham, owner and Managing Director of Saint Cecilia's Care Group, who talks about the challenges he faced in renewing his insurance policy during the pandemic.

We are also joined by two leading care sector insurance experts; Philip Dearn, insurance broker/advisor to the social care sector at Marsh, and David Bramall, Underwriting Manager at Liberty Specialty Markets, a leading provider of insurance to the care sector. Philip and David offer us their expert insights into the impact of COVID on the care insurance market and give their advice to care home operators on how to navigate these impacts and get the best possible deal at renewal time.

We also look at what the future may hold for insurance of the independent care sector and propose some ideas for how the care sector could be supported in uncertain times.
