Becoming aware of who you are can take a lifetime it seems. What happens when you finally come into this realization only for it to be compromised and not valued? Texas high school student, Deandre Arnold's story made national headlines when he was told that if he did not cut his dreadlocks to a length under school policy, he would not walk the stage for his high school graduation, continue to be suspended, and be placed in alternative school. DeAndre said it best that you cannot be afraid to take a stand for "your culture and heritage".
