It's July 1st. I'm Brian Dean
0:04
Wright, former CIA Operations Officer. And
0:06
this is The Wright Report. A
0:17
good day to you, ladies and gentlemen.
0:19
Welcome to The Wright Report, your daily
0:21
news podcast. I've got
0:23
two sets of briefs for you this morning that
0:25
are shaping America and the world. First
0:28
up, we've got the domestic and international fallout
0:30
from last week's U.S. presidential debate, with
0:33
Joe Biden refusing to step aside this morning. Democrats
0:35
are in a state of panic, and global
0:38
leaders are saying it is time for Mr.
0:40
Biden to go. We will talk about all
0:42
of that, plus what foreign spy services are
0:44
doing right now to take advantage of all
0:47
of the chaos. Second, we've got
0:49
international updates this morning to talk about, including
0:51
a new terror threat to U.S. forces in
0:53
Europe, the growing possibility of
0:55
a war in Lebanon that's on deck,
0:58
and also a quick update about the
1:00
elections in France. But first, let's
1:02
get to that top story of the morning. Joe
1:05
Biden is facing growing calls to step
1:07
aside from both his reelection and the
1:09
presidency of the United States. But
1:11
based on some fresh reporting, he is refusing
1:14
to do either of those things, in no
1:16
small part because of some advice from his
1:18
son, Hunter. But before we get to
1:20
that, let's start with a recap of
1:22
what has happened since we last spoke on Friday
1:24
morning. That's when 51.3
1:27
million people woke up after having watched
1:29
what was, by all accounts, an
1:31
absolute disaster for Mr. Biden and the nation.
1:33
And that is not my view. That is
1:35
yours and your fellow Americans. A CBS
1:38
News poll found that 72 percent
1:40
of you all do not believe that Joe Biden
1:42
has the physical or mental ability to run the
1:44
country. That number shot
1:47
up after the debate. And that is
1:49
why starting Friday morning, leftist media outlets like
1:51
The New York Times and The Atlantic said
1:54
that Mr. Biden needs to step aside
1:56
from at least his campaign. Swing
1:59
state newspapers in Georgia and beyond were calling
2:01
for him to do the same. All
2:03
in all, it was a bipartisan, near
2:05
universal message from U.S. media outlets across
2:07
the board that called for Biden to leave
2:10
the race. Joining those media
2:12
outlets were Democrat leaning voters as
2:14
well. pollsters at Morning Consult found
2:16
that 60 percent of
2:18
Democrat friendly voters said that, yes, it
2:20
is time for Mr. Biden to step
2:22
aside and step down. Throughout
2:24
the day on Friday and into Saturday, world
2:26
leaders and global press reacted much
2:29
the same. Germany's leading newspaper
2:31
said that the debate was painful to
2:33
watch. French media outlets called
2:35
it a disaster, a shipwreck and
2:38
a catastrophic event without precedent in
2:40
modern American political history. But
2:42
it was not just the foreign press that
2:44
weighed in with this view. Foreign leaders did,
2:47
too. For example, CNN spoke
2:49
with mostly European and Arab politicians
2:51
off the record who said
2:53
that they were shell shocked by Mr.
2:55
Biden's appearance and his performance. Meanwhile,
2:58
Italy's deputy prime minister said that Mr.
3:00
Biden simply cannot do the job anymore.
3:02
It is time for him to go.
3:05
Meanwhile, Poland's foreign minister compared Mr.
3:07
Biden and America to the end
3:09
days of the Roman Empire. But
3:12
to be clear, none of those foreign
3:14
officials were really surprised. As
3:17
The Wall Street Journal reported, they saw Mr.
3:19
Biden's mental decline began, gosh, well over a
3:21
year ago. And that was despite the White
3:23
House's efforts to hide it. As
3:25
Axios and NBC News report this morning,
3:28
Biden staffers have long avoided events both
3:30
here and abroad that occur
3:32
either late in the afternoon or into
3:34
the evenings. Those sundown hours are when
3:36
apparently Mr. Biden is the most prone
3:39
to confusion, mumbling and sudden changes in
3:41
mood. So this dementia
3:43
like state was also well known
3:45
to Mr. Biden's family and senior
3:47
Democrats. As Axios reports, Mr.
3:49
Biden is mostly fine from 10 a.m.
3:51
to 4 p.m., but after 4 p.m.,
3:53
Mr. Biden relapses
3:56
into various states of confusion.
4:00
That startling news trickled out throughout the
4:02
day on Friday and into Saturday. And
4:04
that then led to growing conversations about
4:06
how or if Democrats might remove Mr.
4:08
Biden from either the presidency or at
4:11
least his re-election campaign. As
4:13
noted by Bloomberg News and Reuters News Service,
4:16
it would be challenging to do if
4:18
Mr. Biden refused to step aside. But
4:20
it could be done, and
4:22
it could be either right now or at
4:24
the Democrat nominating convention in just a few
4:27
weeks or at some point this fall. But
4:29
the best option would be for Mr. Biden to
4:32
step down on his own accord. But
4:34
by Saturday morning, it became clear that he most
4:37
certainly would not. The Biden campaign
4:39
launched into various counter strikes throughout the day,
4:41
blasting this idea that he might back out.
4:44
As the New York Times reported, the campaign
4:46
stuck to three key talking points. First,
4:49
that while, yes, Mr. Biden had
4:51
a very bad night, all presidents
4:53
and politicians knew. Second,
4:55
he had a bad cold, and he felt
4:57
pretty crummy on debate night. Third,
5:00
the real problem is actually that Mr.
5:02
Biden was just too darn prepared. He
5:05
got overwhelmed with trying to relieve facts
5:07
during the debate, especially in the face
5:09
of Mr. Donald Trump's relentless lies. So
5:12
those talking points were what was echoed
5:15
by former President Bill Clinton, his wife
5:17
Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama
5:19
and his wife Michelle. They all circled
5:21
the wagons to make it very
5:24
clear that Joe Biden is not going
5:26
anywhere. At least that is what these
5:28
Democrats were saying in public. Behind
5:30
the scenes, there were a handful of federal
5:32
and state Democrats who were a little bit
5:34
more panicked, again, in private. As
5:37
Bloomberg News reports, they believe that
5:39
Biden's unpopularity and his clear mental
5:41
decline will drag them down next
5:43
fall. But the Biden campaign
5:45
was aware of that, and they tried again
5:47
to calm those nerves throughout Saturday and into
5:49
Sunday. They pointed to a
5:52
Friday afternoon speech where Mr. Biden did
5:54
seem more aware and lucid. They
5:56
also played up this fact. The Biden campaign
5:58
has raised 33. $3 million
6:00
in the 72 hours since the debate.
6:04
But when that still didn't calm nerves,
6:06
the Biden campaign decided to get pretty
6:08
blunt. They sent out an email
6:10
to supporters saying that the process of
6:12
replacing Mr. Biden on the nominating ticket
6:14
would lead to weeks of chaos
6:17
and internal Democrat fighting between the
6:19
various camps. In fact,
6:21
the Biden campaign showed polling that
6:23
other likely candidates, to include the
6:25
Democrat governors of California, Michigan, and
6:27
Kentucky, would actually lose more
6:29
voters to Trump than Biden would,
6:31
even in his current mental condition.
6:34
And that is why, through yesterday morning,
6:36
the response from Washington, D.C., and the
6:38
Biden campaign was resolute and
6:40
unflinching. You all can just forget
6:42
this idea of Mr. Biden leaving the White House
6:44
or the campaign. He is
6:46
the choice of the Democrat Party. And
6:49
if there were any lingering doubts about that,
6:52
we got confirmation late yesterday that it
6:54
was full speed ahead. That
6:56
is when the New York Times reported that
6:58
Mr. Biden, his family, and several aides traveled
7:01
to Camp David for a private conversation about
7:03
what to do. And the message was clear.
7:06
Keep on fighting. The
7:08
loudest and most angry voice to stay in the
7:10
race, apparently, came from his son, Hunter. As
7:13
listeners may recall, Joe Biden has previously called
7:15
his son, Hunter, quote, the smartest
7:17
guy I know, end quote. Thus,
7:19
he listened to his advice. And
7:23
yet, the New York Times, the Washington
7:25
Post, and other traditionally leftist outlets continued
7:27
to say late last night that
7:29
Mr. Biden has to do something
7:31
more or different to prove he
7:33
is still viable because the debate
7:36
was so disastrous. And
7:38
that is why the Biden family will do two things,
7:40
they say. First, Mr.
7:42
Biden's schedule will be further limited to
7:45
daytime hours when his mental condition
7:47
is less acute. Second, there is
7:50
going to be a big staff shakeup because
7:52
clearly they should have known better than to
7:54
push for evening events. They
7:56
also should have used better makeup, apparently, because
7:58
he looked very pale. on debate
8:01
night. And so folks,
8:03
that is the way forward as of this
8:05
morning for the White House to limit Biden's
8:07
activities to events before 4 p.m., then
8:10
work hard to minimize any public exposure and
8:12
the gaffes that often come with it, and
8:15
ultimately keep other Democrats in
8:17
line by all means necessary.
8:20
And yet, as the Times and
8:23
NBC are reporting, Mr. Biden and
8:25
his family know that the damage has
8:27
largely been done. Mr. Biden
8:29
apparently feels humiliated by what the world saw
8:31
at that debate, and he doesn't
8:33
want that to be his legacy. He
8:35
is a prideful man, the Times says,
8:37
and he will fight to salvage whatever
8:39
is left, no matter the cost or the
8:42
impact it might have on
8:44
the rest of the nation. And
8:46
with that, let's take our first
8:49
break of the morning. When we come
8:51
back, I'll offer you my analysis and
8:53
opinion, bringing in some American history and
8:56
my experiences from the CIA. We'll
8:58
be right back. It's
9:00
July, and that means great deals
9:02
and great clothes from American giant.
9:05
Yes, it's the clothing made by
9:07
Americans, for Americans, They've
9:12
got a special edition 4th of
9:14
July t-shirt super cool made
9:16
in Los Angeles. Plus some beautiful
9:18
summertime dresses made in New York.
9:20
And my personal favorite lately, linen
9:23
shorts made in Middlesex, North Carolina. But
9:25
as always, if you are looking for
9:27
something else like jeans, hats or socks,
9:30
you name it, an American giant probably makes
9:33
it and they make it in America. And
9:35
that is why you feel the American pride
9:37
and quality with every piece of clothing that
9:39
they have. Folks, their products are going to
9:41
last you for years. They are an investment
9:43
and they are worth every penny. So
9:46
go to American dash giant dot com,
9:48
where you are going to find that
9:50
perfect summertime staple. And when you do
9:53
get 20 percent off your first order,
9:55
just use promo code right at checkout
9:57
again. That is American dash giant dot
9:59
com. Use promo code W or I
10:02
G H T and get your 20
10:04
percent off your first order and do
10:06
this today. Let's get this country going
10:09
again. Let's make America giant.
12:00
They collapse into a paranoid cocoon.
12:03
They are divorced then from both reality and
12:05
a care for the nation. They only care
12:07
for themselves and for survival. And
12:10
that is true of their staff as well. Regime
12:13
staff know that if their leader steps down,
12:15
or in this case from a campaign or
12:17
the presidency, the next
12:19
leader will have their own staff and their
12:21
own agenda. And that could include targeting
12:24
them as perhaps Trump may. And
12:27
so staff members then launch into absurdities,
12:29
like saying that Biden simply had a
12:31
cold during that debate night, or
12:34
that, you know, he just prepared too much with too many
12:36
facts and he got overwhelmed. Okay. Finally,
12:39
I've seen the hysterics of a regime's
12:41
bureaucracy. So in this case, that would
12:43
be Democrat senators or Department of Justice
12:45
officials. And when they
12:47
are confronted by a crisis, they scramble
12:49
too, because, well, as it relates to Biden,
12:52
they knew years ago about his dementia, but
12:55
they've been covering for him. And
12:57
now they will face questions and they fear what
12:59
will happen if their role in
13:01
hiding the truth is discovered. And so
13:03
they too, we would expect, will do
13:06
some paranoid and silly things, maybe dangerous
13:08
sometimes too. And that's
13:10
simply because there is no care amongst these
13:12
people about the good of the nation, only
13:15
saving their political hides. Again,
13:17
this is all classic behavior of
13:19
regimes and families that are consumed
13:21
by personal and party politics. And
13:24
that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly
13:26
what George Washington feared would happen.
13:30
Back in the fall of 1796, President
13:32
Washington publishes farewell address to the
13:34
nation and he specifically warned
13:36
what would happen if America were to
13:38
become consumed by party politics and leaders
13:41
rather than focus on the nation and the greater good.
13:44
Let me remind you of those words
13:46
this morning. Quote,
13:48
however political parties may now and then
13:50
answer popular ends, they
13:53
are likely in the course of time
13:55
to become potent engines by which cunning,
13:57
ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled
13:59
to subvert. those
18:00
things to make things different in that
18:02
nation and better, at least from
18:04
the optic of the US government. And
18:07
that, ladies and gentlemen, is
18:10
exactly what the Chinese and the Russians
18:12
and the Iranians are doing to us
18:14
this morning. They've been doing it for
18:16
years. That's because Joe Biden's
18:18
dementia has been known for years, certainly on
18:20
a clandestine basis. And
18:22
while I hate this, I hate that this is happening,
18:25
I understand it is the business
18:27
of espionage. But
18:29
we should be very clear. This
18:31
is the cost, that is to say we
18:34
are being penetrated by these spies because
18:36
our elites are choosing to leave a diseased
18:38
man and the White House. But
18:41
here's something remarkable. George
18:43
Washington spoke of this threat
18:46
as well. He knew that
18:48
we would be faced with corruption by foreign
18:50
powers because some of us might go down
18:52
the path of worshipping a party over the
18:54
nation. Let me read those words.
18:57
Quote, parties
19:00
and loyalty to a party open
19:02
the door to foreign influence and corruption,
19:04
which find facilitated access to the government
19:06
through the channels of party passions. Thus,
19:09
the policy and the will of one country
19:12
are subjected to the policy and the will
19:14
of another. End quote. In
19:17
other words, if you allow party politics
19:19
to prop up a corrupted commander in
19:21
chief, then do not be surprised
19:24
when foreign adversaries or even allies
19:27
take advantage of the resulting rot. And
19:30
of course, he was right. Of
19:32
course, George Washington and our founding
19:34
fathers and mothers were right. And
19:37
I suspect that they are turning over in their
19:39
graves this morning at the Republic that
19:41
we have become. But that's
19:43
as of this moment, the Republic that we have
19:45
become as of today. The
19:48
question before us is what will
19:50
we become tomorrow and beyond? Well,
19:52
that is a critical question for us this morning, isn't
19:55
it? We all know that Congress
19:57
could impeach and remove Mr. Biden for very
19:59
clear questions. laws. But as
20:01
of this morning, Democrats would block that in
20:03
the Senate because of those party passions that
20:06
President Washington warned us about. So
20:08
that means that America has one of four
20:10
paths forward, the first three just for
20:13
Democrats. Initially, they've got about
20:15
six weeks or so from now until the
20:17
convention in Chicago. That is the
20:19
cleanest option for Democrats to remove Mr. Biden.
20:22
Second, at the convention itself, he could be
20:24
removed. That's a little bit more messy, but
20:27
it's doable. And then third, we've
20:29
got a couple months between the DNC convention
20:31
and the general election in November. That
20:34
is the most messy and chaotic of all,
20:36
at least in terms of internal Democrat politics.
20:39
Then finally, we've got the general election,
20:41
of course, in November. That is a
20:43
long four months from now, plus then
20:46
two more months after that until inauguration.
20:49
And that's not great. Having a demented
20:51
commander in chief until next January
20:54
is not great. So that
20:56
is the moment, my friends, that is the history that
20:58
we are all living through. And
21:00
I don't know what's to come, but sadly, it
21:02
does not appear that Mr. Biden or his party
21:04
are going to do the right thing. America
21:07
has, in effect, gone to
21:09
what I recognize from my time abroad,
21:12
full regime, at least for the moment.
21:15
And that, I promise you, will
21:17
leave some Biden staffers, bureaucrats and
21:19
Democrat officials vulnerable to the approach
21:22
of foreign governments. In fact, I suspect
21:24
that they have already divided those people into
21:26
buckets based on intel, just like I used
21:28
to do. And I assure you, they
21:30
will pounce. It is a game that I know
21:32
well. So let
21:34
us watch, let us listen
21:37
and let us pray for the next
21:39
five months or so as we approach
21:41
the election and then the months thereafter.
21:44
Because if I may borrow another line from
21:46
another founding father, we've
21:48
got a republic for now, assuming
21:50
we can keep it. And
21:53
with that, ladies and gentlemen, let's take one
21:55
more break this morning. When
21:58
we come back, we've got news from the
22:00
rest of the world. We'll be right back. It's
22:03
the summer, it's hot, and you need
22:06
to stay cool, especially at night. And
22:08
you can do it with Ghostbed, the
22:10
company that I think makes the finest
22:12
and coolest mattresses in all
22:15
of America. Now, I love the Luxe
22:17
model because it's got the firmness that
22:19
I want, but the cooling materials that
22:21
I absolutely need. Because if I sleep
22:23
hot, I don't sleep well. And you
22:26
get a crummy podcast, and nobody wants
22:28
that. But you know what you
22:30
do want? You want delivery right to your
22:32
front door, a 101-night trial with a money
22:34
back guarantee and 50% off.
22:37
And that is exactly what
22:39
you will get if you
22:41
go to ghostbed.com/right. That's W-R-I-G-H-T.
22:43
And you will get free
22:46
delivery, a money back guarantee,
22:48
and 50% off
22:50
of America's finest mattress. Again,
22:52
that's ghostbed.com/right. And pick the
22:54
model and the accessories that
22:56
you need, and then get
22:58
ready. Because once your Ghostbed purchase
23:01
arrives, you will be off to a
23:03
great night's sleep. I guarantee it. And
23:05
so do they. Welcome
23:10
back to The Right Report with news
23:13
from around the world. We begin with
23:15
breaking news from the Pentagon this morning,
23:17
which told CNN over the weekend that
23:19
US military bases in Europe are on
23:21
a heightened state of alert this morning
23:23
due to credible intelligence suggesting that they
23:25
will be attacked by Islamic radicals over
23:27
the next week or so. We know
23:30
that one of the targets is the US
23:32
Army garrison in Stuttgart, Germany. They
23:34
raised their alert level to force protection
23:36
condition Charlie on Sunday, which means that
23:39
an attack is likely and based on
23:41
high confidence intelligence. The same
23:43
is true and other bases in Germany
23:45
plus Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria. The
23:48
Pentagon is not saying what the intel might
23:50
be, but we do know three things. First,
23:53
the FBI and the CIA have been warning
23:55
for months now that the threat of Islamic
23:57
terror is rising both in the homeland and
24:00
to US interests abroad. Second,
24:02
just a couple of weeks ago, Germany's
24:04
interior minister warned that Islamic radicals are
24:07
the greatest threat to her country.
24:09
Third, we also know that French officials have
24:12
been warning of jihadi attacks in Paris during
24:14
the upcoming Olympics, just a few weeks away.
24:17
In short, we know that Islamic radicals
24:20
and their ideologies are on the march
24:22
this morning, heading towards US
24:24
communities. And as of this morning, US
24:27
military bases abroad, especially in Europe.
24:31
So with those quick facts and data, let me
24:33
offer you my analysis and opinion. For
24:36
the past six months, I've briefed you
24:38
on numerous European officials saying that Islamic
24:40
radicalism is a clear and
24:42
present danger to the continent. It's not
24:44
just Germany or France. And that
24:47
is why I've cautioned against travel to Europe
24:49
this summer, because bluntly, they
24:51
are not gonna stop all the attacks. Although
24:53
to be fair, neither will US
24:56
intel or law enforcement stop all the
24:58
Islamic attacks here. And
25:00
that's because in both places and in both
25:02
cases, governments have opened their
25:04
borders. And while doing so, they
25:06
have conducted very little vetting of the people who've
25:08
come across to include what
25:10
the cultural or religious affinities of these
25:13
migrants or illegal aliens might be. And
25:16
that has allowed in Islamists who want
25:18
to kill or create Islamic nations inside
25:21
of say, the US or Europe. And
25:24
now the price must be paid
25:27
for those reckless policies. So
25:30
our prayers are with our service members in
25:32
Europe this morning. And gosh,
25:35
if there were ever a time to have
25:37
a competent commander in chief in the White
25:39
House, this would be the moment. Alas,
25:43
we do not have that. Next,
25:47
we pivot to a different set of warnings
25:49
this morning from US and European intelligence services.
25:51
And here's the warning, a war
25:53
in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Israel is
25:55
likely to occur within the next few
25:58
days to a few weeks. And
26:00
that is why nations around the world are
26:02
warning their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately. It's
26:05
also why the US Navy is moving in
26:07
the USS Wasp and their amphibious Ready Group.
26:09
They are heading to the waters nearest Israel.
26:12
They will be responsible for any evacuations of
26:14
US citizens in the event that that is
26:17
necessary. And that does
26:19
look more likely than not to happen.
26:21
Political magazine is reporting that Israel is
26:23
building up its war materiel in the
26:26
north of the country. They're also ensuring
26:28
a steady supply of soldiers and reservists
26:30
to that area. Prime Minister
26:32
Benjamin Netanyahu announced last week that some
26:34
units will be shifted from Gaza in
26:37
anticipation of this fight. Meanwhile,
26:39
his cabinet ministers and those folks
26:41
across the political spectrum in Israel
26:43
are saying that they are ready
26:46
to hit Lebanon, quote, back into
26:48
the Stone Age, end quote, targeting
26:50
their power and distribution systems in
26:52
particular. To which Hezbollah
26:54
is saying this morning, bring
26:56
it on. The group's leader, Mr Hassan Nasrallah,
26:58
is saying that the group has far more
27:00
weapons than the last war that they fought
27:02
with Israel back in 2006. US
27:06
intelligence largely backs up that claim. Hezbollah
27:08
is known to have about 100,000 fighters
27:11
and hundreds of thousands of
27:14
rockets, drones, anti-tank and
27:16
anti-ship missiles. And it is
27:18
those latter missiles that are giving pause
27:21
to the Pentagon this morning. And
27:23
as you would imagine, the folks on the USS
27:25
Wasp. The
27:27
White House and European powers are trying
27:29
to calm the situation this morning to
27:32
include indirect diplomacy with Hezbollah. They're warning
27:34
the terrorists that the Pentagon cannot and
27:36
will not stop Israel should a war
27:39
begin. They're also
27:41
trying to convince leaders in Jerusalem to be
27:43
patient and let diplomacy play out for just
27:45
a little bit longer. But that
27:47
appears increasingly unlikely. Israel
27:51
argues that Hezbollah has increased its rocket
27:53
fire dramatically over the past month, and
27:55
that is true, certainly since
27:57
the Hamas terror attacks on October 7th. The
28:00
result has been the displacement of over 100,000 Israelis, and
28:02
it's caused some pretty nasty
28:05
forests and brushfires in the north over
28:07
10,000 acres burned so far. And
28:10
that the Israelis say must come
28:12
to an end sooner rather
28:14
than later. Now, the only thing
28:16
that might stop this war, say
28:18
European, US and Israeli officials, is
28:21
an unlikely peace deal or a ceasefire with
28:23
Hamas in the Gaza Strip. But
28:25
those proposals continue to be rejected by
28:28
Hamas and its leaders like Yaga Sinwar.
28:31
You may recall my previous brief where
28:33
Mr. Sinwar argues that he has the
28:35
Israelis right where he wants them, and
28:37
he is willing to kill whatever number
28:40
of Palestinians it takes to accomplish his
28:42
dream of eradicating Israel. So
28:45
those facts and data, let me offer you my
28:47
analysis and opinion. Let's
28:49
begin with a reminder of why we should care
28:51
about this likely war. First,
28:53
we have US service members in Iraq, Syria,
28:55
and now just off the coast of Israel,
28:58
plus other places in the Middle East. And
29:00
they are all in the direct or indirect line
29:03
of fire that would result from this possible war.
29:06
Second, there is an economic cost, too. If
29:08
this war were to go to a regional conflict, we
29:11
would absolutely see a jump in the price
29:13
of oil. Some folks estimate
29:15
around $10 a barrel at least.
29:18
But really, the sky is the limit,
29:20
depending on how bad it would get
29:22
and how the Iranians would choose to
29:24
respond. Third, and speaking
29:26
of those guys, we would likely see an
29:28
increase in Iranian terror activities in places
29:31
like the Red Sea and Europe
29:33
and likely in the
29:35
United States. As listeners might
29:37
recall, Hezbollah has terror cells in California,
29:39
Michigan, and New York that just name
29:42
a few states. Fourth
29:44
and finally, we have to think about
29:47
how this localized conflict in Israel is
29:49
really just one chess move of a
29:51
much bigger global game about how
29:53
Iran, Russia, and China want to reorder
29:56
the world. In other
29:58
words, at what point do these nations... start
30:00
to coordinate their efforts to create a
30:02
three-front war in Ukraine, Israel,
30:04
and Taiwan, knowing that
30:07
the US can't possibly respond
30:09
to all three, especially with
30:11
a commander in chief that can't function
30:13
between the hours of 4pm until 10am.
30:17
So that is why this news from Israel
30:19
is important, and it is why I will
30:22
continue to watch those northern sections of Israel,
30:24
plus how the Iranians respond, and
30:27
as ever, what kinds of
30:29
funny business we might just see in Ukraine
30:32
and in Taiwan. More
30:34
to come. Finally, this morning,
30:36
a quick note for you about the election
30:38
results in France. Results
30:40
are still trickling in, but it is
30:43
worth a note this morning, the conservative
30:45
National Rally Party has won the first
30:47
round of voting, in second place
30:49
were the radical leftist parties of socialists and
30:51
communists, and in third was
30:54
the party of President Emmanuel Macron. That
30:57
was not supposed to be the
30:59
result, Mr. Macron gambled that the French
31:01
people would reject the conservatives and the
31:03
far left, but as the
31:05
French outlet Le Monde is reporting this
31:08
morning, his gamble has failed. Instead,
31:10
conservatives are ascendant in the country.
31:13
France now heads to a second round of
31:15
voting next weekend, that will determine who controls
31:17
the parliament. But even
31:20
if conservatives do well and capture
31:22
the parliament, Mr. Macron will still retain
31:24
the presidency. And that
31:26
could lead to a very awkward relationship,
31:28
and it could change their approach to
31:30
NATO and their response to Russia's war
31:32
in Ukraine. And that
31:34
is why we will be back to
31:37
France. Mr. Macron has been a big
31:39
proponent of more direct confrontation with Moscow
31:41
inside of Ukraine. He has
31:43
argued for boots on the ground. But
31:46
that push could be limited if
31:48
these conservatives win next weekend. So
31:51
yes, we will go back to Paris
31:53
no later than next Monday, I would
31:56
assume. And with
31:58
that, ladies and gentlemen, we conclude your morning. with
