So are werewolves just a Hollywood
0:02
creation or do half-man half-wolf creatures
0:04
really exist now tonight We're gonna
0:06
tell you about some hair-raising stories
0:08
now our first takes us to a small town
0:10
in southern Wisconsin where some locals say that
0:12
a man wolf has been on the loose for
0:15
over 20 years Are
0:17
there beasts roaming the earth that have never been
0:19
seen before by man? What
0:22
if other life in the universe just isn't
0:24
that intelligent? That's why we haven't found it
0:27
all of these questions. You can find the answer
0:29
to on this paranormal
0:31
life Hello
0:33
everyone and welcome to this Paranormal
0:36
life the comedy paranormal podcast where every
0:38
week we investigate a brand new Paranormal
0:40
tale and come to the conclusion as
0:43
to whether or not it is true
0:46
or it is false as always I
0:48
am joined by the one and only
0:50
kit Greer Mulvenna happy to be here
0:52
But today is a very special episode
0:54
because we also have not one but
0:56
two guests joining us in the studio
0:59
Now first off we have Dan
1:01
Schreiber You may know from QI
1:03
no such thing as a fish and of
1:05
course his own podcast we can be weirdos
1:08
Right beside him is Reeze Darby
1:10
who you may know from flight
1:12
of the concords what we do
1:14
in the shadows Our flag means
1:16
death but crucially you two
1:19
are here today because you also are
1:21
two of the hosts of a paranormal
1:23
Podcast a little show called the cryptid
1:25
factor. You're joining us today for
1:27
an investigation guys. How are you doing? Well
1:29
good. It's not really a little shows quite
1:31
a big show isn't it Reese? Yes It's
1:33
the longest running show in New Zealand in
1:36
terms of podcasting. We started off as a
1:38
radio show even before Dan's time, but not
1:41
only is our show the cryptid factor
1:43
a Podcast it's also a
1:45
bit of a cryptid itself because it
1:47
doesn't always come on line on a
1:50
regular time It's hard to find and
1:52
quite often. We're a bit blurry Sometimes
1:56
It takes a group of men to go out and hunt for
1:58
it. Yeah, I'm just gonna. Yeah, Revisit
2:01
the I bits of auto sound in the
2:03
woods. Little bits of it with scat on
2:05
it's yeah. Well we're very excited to have
2:07
you guys here. Blame for excited be here.
2:09
By the way, Oh thank you we did.
2:11
We don't get to meet fellow paranormal expert
2:13
podcast as and so this is a huge
2:16
throw. What an awful! This is the first
2:18
time we've actually had a to guess on
2:20
the podcast before simultaneously guess ah but also
2:22
the first time I believe we've ever had
2:24
in person. Guess visiting the studio before. Yeah,
2:26
normally you'd have to get a sock but
2:28
of your head is Sheldon. Said a car
2:31
Driven around for two to three days and. We.
2:33
Want to kill you after this before? yep
2:35
on the Secret Headquarters. Thank you because that
2:37
sounds like the experience. We would have loved
2:40
her other items I had yet. He did
2:42
give me a special drink so I'm wondering
2:44
what that's gonna do. You're not gonna kick
2:46
in in about an hour fifty so we
2:48
do have to push on here today. Guys
2:51
will reside have you guys here because usually
2:53
on an episode of this Paranormal Life at
2:55
the end Kit and I decide whether a
2:57
case is real. But as you are our
2:59
guest investigators today, you two are going to
3:02
decide whether or not you. Think the case
3:04
is real. the lot of pressure I
3:06
will say israel but we. Have
3:10
I don't I drink. Get in and already.
3:12
That's good. Yeah, Yeah
3:14
I want to say before we get started. I.
3:17
Was very excited today for number
3:19
of reasons sign to have I
3:21
guess on the podcast is going
3:23
to have or anyone let alone
3:25
such prestigious paranormal investigators. So it
3:27
was fun this morning. setting of
3:29
the studio getting the scripts ready,
3:31
And then I think five minutes before you
3:33
guys got here. I. Went to the bathroom
3:35
and walked in on a guy having a shit. And
3:39
restoring I think it's that's rare these days
3:41
then that used to happen all the time when
3:44
I was a when I was a kid. easily
3:46
it was made a big gamble thin on
3:48
Daniel. I couldn't tell you. the last time
3:50
I saw man having a shit, it's been a
3:52
while ago. How did you feel. I.
3:54
Felt a little stunt like I've been kind of
3:57
flash bangs and now I'm worried this is is
3:59
coming. Quite fun day. We're going to have a
4:01
lot of memories. I'm quite scared tonight. When.
4:03
I'm lying in bed and I close my eyes
4:05
on i'm gonna see his him yeah it was
4:08
going to override the entire day. yeah it's
4:10
all second. also not toilet because I came in
4:12
here to filler to I said while I
4:14
was in the toilet and I wasn't sitting in
4:16
the one walked in i'm it's been a
4:18
guy did you see a guy smashed when the
4:21
lights lights to pieces? What is it like
4:23
I think it was like take over sweaters on
4:25
smashed into peace okay mine of is like
4:27
of diehards broken glass of who was a female
4:29
that angry I caught him taking a class
4:31
of insists I said i never that again. When
4:33
my favorite memories of from when I lived
4:36
in Australia i left at like eighteen and
4:38
so we to go into bars and clubs
4:40
as seventeen year olds and sneak inside. lot
4:42
of memories of kind of like the those
4:44
nights could say was so kind of dangerous
4:46
interference and I remember being in a bathroom
4:48
and the would say that was a guy
4:50
clearly and the cubicle doors shot and world
4:53
at the urinals and this this kind of
4:55
slightly weird dude what thin and he pushed
4:57
the door open and he walked into the
4:59
cubicle. And. He just I could just
5:01
see him staring clearly at someone who was
5:03
on the toilets and that was just assignments
5:06
between them. And then so suddenly it was.
5:08
the guy on the toilets do their job to do something
5:10
about it and I'll just never forget it. I just heard
5:12
this guy go. To. Seminars
5:14
shit most. Hazardous
5:17
efficacy. That's what's going on. Get out
5:20
with a close the door and never
5:22
forget that. does that voice the of
5:24
the boys if I'm was a British
5:26
level of politeness yet I understood a
5:28
state what I'm hearing about politely ask
5:30
you to back also sabotage It manifests
5:32
as that. I
5:35
love those little semen my and ah
5:38
well unless in one else has any
5:40
more stories about seen men taking shit,
5:42
I think what is Dive into Today's.
5:44
Investigation is blu ray. Our story
5:46
today begins in Woolwich County, Wisconsin
5:48
and Wisconsin is famous for a
5:50
lot of things, but on this
5:53
day. In. Two thousand and Two.
5:55
Or. Two thousand and seven. The date is unclear. very
5:58
lessons would become same for
6:00
a very different reason. For
6:03
deep in the frosted wilderness, lay
6:06
a creature not quite beast, not
6:08
quite man. And we're going to investigate this
6:10
creature right after a quick
6:12
word from today's sponsors. Alright,
6:16
we are in Wisconsin. It's the early
6:18
2000s. See how I
6:21
changed things up there to be a little ambiguous? You're
6:23
being very evasive. It can't matter, can it? Look, the
6:26
details here are vague. We don't know what we're
6:28
talking about. 2002, 2007... It's murky, the picture is
6:30
murky. So you are saying mid-2000s now? What
6:33
were you saying early? I don't want
6:35
to be a stick lover. 2007 would be late 2000s. It
6:38
usually lets a lot of this minor detail
6:40
mistakes fly. Kind of a mino, so I
6:43
wasn't expecting this kind of grilling today. Well,
6:45
we'll say it's the early 2000s. And
6:48
a young family is strolling down the
6:50
sidewalk of their neighborhood. When we say
6:52
young family... Yeah,
6:55
it's perfect by this gentleman's imagination. They're
6:57
probably 45. Yeah. This
6:59
young family... Even the kids? Alright. The
7:03
family is irrelevant. It doesn't matter about the family. That's actually
7:05
classified information. I can't disclose. Yeah, fair
7:07
enough. Huge. They want to remain
7:09
anonymous because of what happened is
7:11
so scary. Okay. They don't want
7:13
to be bombarded by press. Okay. This
7:16
young family spotted a yard
7:19
sale taking place just down
7:21
the street. So
7:23
at this point in the episode, we're just going to
7:25
do a little bit of reenactment of the event. I've
7:28
taken the liberty of printing off some
7:30
scripts for everyone. Here we go. There's
7:33
one for you. Thank you. Here's
7:35
some acting work. Let's
7:38
see. Check with my agent. There
7:40
you go. There's Dan's. Dramatization is
7:42
a big part of the show because we really
7:45
find it brings the story to life for the
7:47
listener in a way
7:49
that we don't often get in the world of podcasting.
7:51
This is pretty exciting because you guys might not know
7:53
this, but I'm sort of known for my acting. Really? Yeah.
7:57
Rees is always learning. No shit. Wait,
7:59
because we... look up to you guys as
8:01
paranormal investigators but y'all are saying you've
8:03
been behind the camera before in front of the
8:05
camera unfortunately he has been in front of the
8:07
camera yeah I mean he's known for
8:09
his acting not in a positive way yeah
8:13
yeah but we'll see how you know you
8:15
might have progressed well that's me yeah Rory
8:18
what the f*** am I looking at at the start
8:20
here the Beast of Brayroad written by Rory Parr's copyright
8:22
2024 yes it is I just want to address the
8:25
but also you left the address and phone number
8:28
field blank assuming you didn't
8:30
think you would ever get a callback
8:32
about this script exact opposite kid you
8:34
leave it blank intentionally so if this
8:36
script ever does find its way to
8:38
a Spielberg a big-time movie guy they
8:40
say this guy's mysterious this guy's aloof
8:43
he's interesting I should give him a call they can't
8:46
to be clear yeah there's nothing on it also it's
8:48
a it's a it's actually a one-page script I was
8:50
gonna say it was a two page script it's a
8:52
one page it's a proof of concept you know I
8:54
want to show that there's something here that could be
8:56
developed okay a Netflix project and Amazon Prime series I'm
8:59
needling you I'm needling a little distracted here let's jump
9:01
in Phil if you could do some dramatic kind of
9:03
sound effects kind of set the scene and
9:05
we'll take it away and
9:10
and see and go I don't know how
9:13
you don't know anything about directing right action
9:15
sorry I can thank you thank you I
9:17
think this guy's been on set for this
9:19
is interesting and action hey
9:24
that worry sorry cut let's do
9:26
that again from the top yeah yeah
9:29
reset the first word was good though I will say
9:31
that it was the energy going on I think yeah
9:33
that was the issue okay I'm sorry that was a
9:35
professional listen I know take it from the top hey
9:39
that yard sale I think
9:41
it is wow I haven't been to one
9:43
of those in ages I think we
9:45
should cut cut cut cut cut cut
9:47
cut this kit we're with some
9:49
a-listers here we're trying to be professional so if you
9:52
just you guys were great sorry you guys were great
9:54
thank you I'll take that criticism because I should have
9:56
read it through to realize that there was a massive
9:58
typo so it says I think We should
10:00
go. So there's no time presumably what's we as the
10:02
two of us? Sorry, my
10:04
batter should have read it. All right, let's let's take that
10:06
from the start. Okay. Let's go. Let's go I'll
10:09
just I'll just run the line. There's no problems with those
10:12
great those guys killed it. So we can go again I'm
10:14
okay. Okay finding what is it? All right, let's go. I
10:17
just have a quick break Okay.
10:19
Yeah, so these are five everyone reaches a
10:21
five. We get some seaweed fins in here.
10:23
All right I just want to say we
10:25
are very very we haven't even gotten close
10:27
to the thing we're investigating today Okay,
10:30
we should we should go we are
10:32
the sale is so irrelevant in the full
10:34
story here. Okay, uh and
10:36
action. Hey That
10:39
yard sale I think
10:41
it is Wow, I haven't been to one of
10:43
those in ages. I think
10:46
we should go check it out Kid
10:50
I will give your line to Reese. I swear to God
10:52
if you do not nail these must be that I have
10:54
to see you This
10:57
is no no because am I having
10:59
a stroke? Someone has to
11:01
look at my script and yeah, you know
11:03
what actually kit your outreach if you could do
11:05
Yeah, just double your line. That would be fantastic.
11:08
You different characters. Yes. Okay, so down from the
11:10
top Think
11:14
it is Wow, I haven't been to one of
11:16
those in ages. Well, I think we should go
11:18
check it out In
11:21
the end this young family only ended
11:23
up buying one thing and that
11:25
was an old box of miscellaneous junk You
11:27
know the kind you find filled with old
11:30
wires a tape player Pokemon cards But
11:32
right at the bottom of this box was
11:34
an unlabeled tape now curious to see what
11:37
was on it They hooked up an old
11:39
tape player and began to watch
11:42
as the tape played They quickly realized
11:44
that what they were watching was an old
11:46
home video The footage on
11:48
the tape was ancient. It looked like
11:50
it was shot with 8 millimeter film implying
11:53
It must have been taken sometime in the 70s
11:56
There was a shot of someone riding through the
11:58
woods on a snowmobile a shot
12:00
of a man chopping wood. Fixing a car,
12:02
there's a cute dog wandering around. But then
12:05
the video takes a turn. The
12:08
footage starts to show long empty shots
12:10
of the woods, as if the cameraman
12:12
is scanning for something. It
12:15
goes back and forth from the family to the
12:17
woods until the footage holds
12:19
on one shot in particular of
12:21
the forest. Where between the
12:24
twisted trees, something can
12:26
be seen staring back. I
12:29
have that footage from the tape and
12:31
we are going to watch it right now on the
12:33
podcast. Wow. Now I will say this is, Rory
12:36
is obviously getting us something very special today
12:38
because we rarely have any evidence, let alone
12:41
video evidence on the podcast. I'm excited. Yeah.
12:43
We usually don't know what year it is. And we
12:46
still don't. Alright
12:51
feast your eyes on this. Please
12:56
feel free to talk over there to Snowmobile.
12:59
Yeah. Wow this looks great.
13:01
This footage, this is definitely the 70s. Okay
13:03
so we've gone from snow now to wood chopping.
13:06
They kind of had the tape over one video
13:08
with the other. It does look like it spliced
13:10
a little. That's weird that it spliced. It's great
13:13
footage. There's something in
13:15
the distance. Oh
13:18
yeah. Oh wow. Okay. Oh wow. Good.
13:26
And the other guy is running. Sort of. Just turned
13:28
around. Whoa. Okay. And then
13:30
it ended pretty abruptly. What a dramatic
13:32
ending. Yeah. You mentioned
13:34
you did the small amount of editing.
13:37
Did you add the soundtrack finish? I
13:39
did add the soundtrack. Yeah of course.
13:41
It wasn't a screaming home movie. There
13:43
was a bit of noise there. Was
13:45
that from the actual video? I added
13:47
the noise. Okay. So it's a silent
13:49
vid. So I'd love to see it
13:52
again. Yeah. Do I have that capability?
13:54
If possible. Let's see. Okay we're back
13:56
on. We're back on the snow. I know we know what
13:58
to look for. Yes. the same
14:00
dog? Same dog as last time.
14:02
When we watched it the first time. The snow's
14:04
gone now. Right. Yeah.
14:08
There it is. There's the
14:10
big creature. Yeah. Okay. At
14:13
first you think it's a bow. Oh yeah. I see
14:15
what you're saying. It's got gorilla movement. Can we pause
14:17
when we get to the... Very
14:20
good question Dan. Because
14:22
you may have noticed a few little chaotic
14:25
frames right at the end there. If you
14:27
break it down these are two of the
14:29
final frames. Holy
14:32
moly. That's a ferocious
14:35
looking mouth with teeth
14:38
and massive canine teeth and a tongue and
14:42
okay. Yeah. Are you sure?
14:45
I thought those last frames were just the camera being
14:47
smashed to bits in general but no they're actually something
14:49
was captured. I do like the fact that at one
14:52
point in the video they show a dog just so
14:54
we know what a dog looks like so that we
14:56
don't later claim that the thing in the end was
14:58
a dog. And it's the same dog every time. So
15:02
the movement, I agree it's sort of silverback movement
15:04
but it's also you know that footage that turned
15:06
out to be fake footage of the skier
15:09
who's got the headphones in and doesn't realize
15:11
that there's a bear chasing. Oh yeah. Yeah
15:14
it was an ad. Oh. It was
15:16
an ad but the movement of the bear running
15:18
also reminded me and so
15:20
we're in a forest. It's Wisconsin. Yeah. I don't
15:22
know if there's bears there but I
15:25
didn't realize that bear video was fake. Oh
15:27
so sorry. Yeah I might have to cut that
15:29
from the podcast. Yeah it kind of shines badly on
15:32
what I'm doing here you know. You're like if this
15:34
skier could have been gone
15:36
I mean anything could happen in Wisconsin. Yeah I'm
15:39
just deleting slides now because I'm going
15:41
to show you the bear video. Let's
15:43
have a look at that mouth. You've
15:45
got a great close-up there of that
15:47
last frame image. Oh it looks like
15:49
a dental procedure. We're going straight down.
15:52
In theory what we're what
15:54
we're being asked to sort of believe here if
15:56
this is a true story is that
15:59
the guy is being eaten
16:01
by a dog or a beast and either
16:03
the beast is pressed stop record or
16:06
he has as he's being eaten because in theory
16:08
he should drop the camera at this point and
16:11
we have more footage unless he's eaten the camera
16:13
the owner of the camera here is displaying a
16:15
kind of Werner Herzog level commitment to the shot
16:17
even in death he's he's lining yeah and it's
16:19
what are we also the camera we're talking here
16:22
well it's a bit confusing the footage looks like
16:24
it was shot on 8 millimeter but
16:26
it was found on a tape like a VHS
16:28
tape I believe so it's almost like someone
16:30
recorded old footage so the dog took it
16:32
to a kind of video shop yeah right
16:34
asked for it to be you know yeah
16:36
remastered put on a different tape well dog
16:38
is I mean I'm saying dog and I'm
16:40
now that's kind of putting that in our
16:42
heads we don't know this is a dog
16:44
it's a weird well the same dog is
16:46
that was earlier in the text no no
16:48
I'm thinking this is whatever that gorilla thing
16:50
was although I will say the beast goes
16:52
out of view and then this guy's mauled
16:55
to death by something it could have been
16:57
the dog okay so new theory
16:59
the beast is just having
17:01
a good old peaceful look yeah oh
17:03
look there's a human there sees
17:05
the rabid dog now
17:08
heading towards the owner who is redacting the evidence
17:10
but the the the beast is running to save the
17:12
guy yes it's
17:18
going Jesus that dogs going wild on you
17:20
right like the like the man in Australia
17:23
I believe who punched the kangaroo to save
17:25
his dog that's right don't tell me that's
17:27
fake dad I don't know that
17:29
I think it was two women I know no it
17:31
was she punched a crocodile Wow I
17:34
read a was there a reason
17:36
and was she just angry was just shoving
17:38
saving her friend saving the ass good reason
17:40
crocodile attack and her friend
17:42
punched the crocodile and went
17:45
away and they yeah they're on the news so it's like
17:47
a sharky hit on the nose is that nothing you have
17:49
to be bloody good friends wouldn't you if you were in
17:51
a crocodile's jaws I think I would just let them have
17:53
you that's the thing would you
17:55
punch a croc for your mate yeah
17:57
yeah I would like parents He
18:00
was sure obviously you Dan. Oh, thank you. Yeah.
18:02
Yeah, my kids are too young at the moment
18:04
for me to risk any of my Own life,
18:07
so I think I'd have to watch you go.
18:09
Yeah. No, I understand I'm
18:11
ready to go Put me in the
18:13
croc Put me in
18:16
the croc and don't punch him years ago
18:18
in qi We did this thing which might
18:20
be common knowledge now, but I didn't know
18:22
it which is the crocodile's slam of its
18:24
jaws It's so strong that it's like it's
18:26
got one of those like it's stronger than
18:28
a billion punches or whatever But
18:30
it's its list is incredibly weak
18:33
So if you popped even a basic
18:35
rubber band around its now it can't
18:37
open. So yeah, I didn't know that
18:39
at all Yes, it's on for the future. You might not
18:41
need to punch if you're we're all nerds, you know, take
18:43
out your your stationary set Get
18:45
your rubber bands out and just get that over.
18:48
It's not you can really tell you grew up
18:50
in Australasia here We're
18:53
like hmm, we will never need these
18:55
survival facts, but yeah, yes fascinating. I've
18:57
learned don't pet a fox Here
19:01
also don't pet a file which is a good
19:03
one whoa, all
19:05
right now getting back to the gorilla
19:09
Just needed even just half a second more for
19:11
you to sort of go all that but it
19:13
just sort of cuts away So
19:15
it was almost like for me
19:18
It was very very well put together to
19:20
make it look as though it was a
19:22
horrific situation Well people
19:24
say with this video a lot of
19:26
classic names get thrown around Dog
19:29
man werewolf kind of sasquatch
19:31
are these any cryptids that
19:33
you've looked into or investigated
19:35
yourselves anything yeah,
19:37
of course and so I mean
19:39
the reason I You started off
19:42
with with gorilla and that's really what it looks like
19:45
But there's just absolutely no way there's
19:47
gonna be a mountain gorilla there in
19:49
Wisconsin, right? Yeah No,
19:52
I unless there's a zoo situation nearby and
19:54
I do escape or something Rees
19:57
let me surprise you there because I only
19:59
have one parent story that's ever happened
20:01
in my life. And that's the time that
20:03
I saw a Gorilla Man in Dublin. We
20:07
actually have a Dublin Gorilla
20:10
Man action figure that was sent in
20:12
by a fan. This is a completely
20:14
true story. I unfortunately didn't have any
20:16
footage of the day, but as someone
20:18
who has seen a giant
20:20
monkey in a strange situation,
20:23
I can sympathize with the filmmaker.
20:26
To be clear, disclaimer, you were about
20:28
seven years old at the time. Fourteen?
20:30
Fourteen? Fourteen. Well, for twice as old.
20:32
Fourteen. Haha. Hormones are raging. You don't
20:34
really know what you're looking at. You
20:36
know, I've strongly disputed the events of that
20:38
day, but it is some
20:41
kind of testimony. It's something. Well,
20:43
what we are talking about today
20:45
is often referred to as the
20:47
Beast of Bray Road. It's
20:49
a creature that has stalked the streets of
20:51
Elkhorn, Wisconsin for over 100 years. This
20:56
creature is described as being around seven foot
20:58
tall, covered in thick, matted hair,
21:01
and it's been seen walking upright
21:03
on two legs. Why is
21:05
it advancing like a gorilla then? Or
21:07
like a dog man? Strange, isn't it?
21:09
Interesting though, you keep bringing up Dog
21:11
Man, Gorilla Man. Maybe I brought that
21:14
one up. Because the other... It
21:17
was you, man. Interesting.
21:19
You say Gorilla Man, Arista. I've never
21:21
said that. What a Darren Brown flight
21:23
of the... Because
21:26
the other popular theory is that this isn't
21:29
quite a beast or a man. This
21:31
is in fact, a werewolf.
21:33
Oh, I do like that one.
21:35
That's one of course. That's a
21:37
two werewolf. History myself.
21:39
You've played a werewolf. Yeah, we all know
21:41
that. Oh, no, I just completely forgot. Oh,
21:44
yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah, and what we do
21:46
in the shadows. Damn, this shit doesn't happen
21:48
by accident. All right. Good
21:50
to have you on the show, Dan. But
21:52
yes, for those who don't know, Rees actually did
21:54
play a werewolf in the movie, What We Do
21:56
in the Shadows. Researching This case,
21:58
I Realize there's quite a lot... I didn't
22:00
know about Werewolf. Their origins can
22:03
stretch back all the way to
22:05
Ancient Greek Mythology. And you know,
22:07
this origins cover way more than
22:10
just the typical transforming at a
22:12
full moon. In fact, Obsessions
22:14
with were wolves were like,
22:16
and Thorpe's as they were
22:18
sometimes called it's right or
22:20
so prominent in the fifteenth
22:22
sixteen. In a way too
22:25
much about the shit out
22:27
really. Does
22:29
not Indonesia when early credited interrupt
22:31
figure out accepted as I hear
22:33
the other that a free to
22:35
assist everyone Look at him for
22:37
fifteen minutes and will say whether
22:39
it's are you have ended up
22:42
the report as well as a
22:44
service and some I actually be
22:46
a sensitive topic for you but
22:48
are they were actually a similar
22:50
to witch trials there were werewolf
22:52
trials were villagers would try and
22:54
locate were wolves in villages and
22:57
subsequently kill them. yeah you know
22:59
I met recently am. Someone.
23:01
Who said that was back in the day That
23:03
was a book written on where Wolves which was
23:05
written by a titles Sabine bearing Gould I think
23:08
was than a that's a Werewolf and said i.
23:11
Went on Boss or he basically a
23:13
says he wrote he wrote the book
23:15
which is basically the mythology, all the
23:17
materials combined about where wolves and so
23:19
everything that we know about. like the
23:21
seventh daughter of a seventh you know
23:23
that will that seven Me? I haven't
23:25
daughters one's bound to be where was
23:28
that kind of stuff or all comes
23:30
down to the. been having put this
23:32
big book a werewolf together is a
23:34
great story that apparently one of the
23:36
reasons that people believed in were wolves
23:38
is because they think and sabine puts
23:40
us in the book saying i thought
23:42
i might have got his name completely
23:44
wrong but he says that was a
23:46
part of a pregnancy kind of you
23:48
know i'm a lot of women say
23:50
that though have cravings you know know
23:52
be like go out and get me
23:54
a bag a call or whatever there
23:56
were few instances that have been recorded
23:58
were like a woman was pregnant was
24:00
passing a baker and was like I just
24:03
want to bite him in the arm and
24:05
eat his blood and there's a story of
24:07
a husband paying a baker to Alexa who's
24:09
like I'm so sorry my wife needs to
24:12
do this and she goes over and she
24:14
bites his shoulder and then someone sees that
24:16
and so pregnancy bloodlust was part of a
24:18
theory that that's why I interject I just
24:21
saw a couple yesterday yeah exactly
24:23
what you were saying so I was walking past on
24:25
my way to the hotel and
24:27
this couple just came out of a cafe or
24:30
a coffee shop I wasn't sure but this
24:32
guy came out first and this lady kind
24:35
of the same things really yeah let's
24:37
say it was a bakery oh no
24:39
this is fun let's needle his story I like that
24:41
yeah yeah what was it Reese was it a bakery?
24:44
Wait wait hold it
24:47
back hold it back
24:51
so the guy came out did
24:54
he yeah and then the lady
24:56
came out let's say a girlfriend partner
24:58
whatever she came on and then I
25:00
caught sight of it with my paris
25:03
on the right hand side and she
25:05
came out and she grabbed
25:07
like the her partner in a kind
25:09
of a you know fun boyfriend girlfriend
25:11
way but then bit him on
25:15
the shoulder like quite like mouth
25:17
really opened quite a lot went like that
25:20
and he went oh
25:23
so it's one of those moments where you go
25:25
oh what's going on there was that just a
25:27
fun lover's bite yeah yeah should have
25:29
gone and I think your girlfriend's pregnant mate so
25:34
it's just weird that that occurrence happened and then
25:36
you straight away you have that little story
25:38
yeah that is weird so synchronicity have you
25:40
never had speaking about Reese's story you never
25:43
had like a lover's bite before a little
25:45
just a nibble yeah I feel like
25:47
I've done that before I have maybe not as
25:49
ferocious as this one seems I
25:51
had a I had a really weird one I this is back
25:53
when I was single so I'm married now so this was like
25:55
when I was in my mid 20s I
25:57
think and I was out with a bunch of people
26:00
And we went to a club in East London
26:02
somewhere around here, and I was very
26:04
drunk. It was very late I was on a dance
26:07
floor that yes Read this Reese's
26:09
DJ. Should I handle some more script? Oh, that
26:11
was good We want to take a swing at
26:13
this one too, and there was a
26:15
girl on the dance floor, and we started dancing Okay
26:19
here we go and yeah good
26:21
Rorit Yeah,
26:25
I take a break now We'll
26:28
be back in five minutes amongst yourselves. I've
26:30
just run out of records Can
26:36
I advise you don't give Kenny lines because we know he's gonna butcher
26:38
him I think I would like to Request
26:42
no, we're just having a break at the moment Yeah,
26:47
so I'm standing there and she We
26:49
like we're dancing clothes, and then we started kissing. I'm
26:51
never on a dance floor So I was like this
26:53
is wild this is amazing and then suddenly she started
26:56
biting my lip and I was like ow And
26:59
then went back in for a kiss and then she did again I
27:01
was like what are you doing and then she
27:03
bit so hard that when she pulled back on the
27:05
next go Her face was
27:07
covered in blood, and it was my
27:09
blood Yeah, I'm like oh my god,
27:11
and she went back in and
27:14
I was like oh my god Oh, she just
27:16
eating my face. Yeah, she was eating it, and
27:19
I was like what are you? I'm so sorry,
27:21
but we're Did you go
27:23
to the club from Blade? This
27:27
night club full of vampire around here
27:29
somewhere It
27:32
was weird yeah She
27:34
didn't care She didn't
27:36
care I was like faces covered in blood and
27:38
she was just went back in and just like
27:41
you know There are drugs that you know people
27:43
say will make you start to chew your own
27:45
face, but rarely someone else's Really,
27:48
but that makes me think yeah, there's definitely
27:50
something demonish going on there Yeah, well, I
27:52
suppose it your story didn't happen in the
27:54
exact same locale But there is a possibility
27:56
this if this is a real vampire You're
28:00
seeing someone bite someone in the street, you were
28:02
bitten in the face only years ago. I don't
28:04
know if there's a community of vampires around. Well
28:07
I wish... Imagine if that was the same lady.
28:09
Yeah, it could be. She hasn't aged a day.
28:11
Yes! Yeah, Reeves was walking
28:13
by and I was like, you know, it's
28:15
strange but that woman is so dance type.
28:18
I don't know what's making me think
28:20
that but I just think at a club he would gravitate
28:22
towards me. He would really vibe.
28:24
Yeah. Lots of great evidence here. Wish
28:27
we were talking about vampires now but
28:29
unfortunately... Werewolves. I know what you're thinking
28:31
guys, based on the video that we saw, you
28:33
wouldn't jump straight to werewolf from seeing that.
28:36
No. It's more gorilla man, it's more sort
28:39
of dog man. Yeah on the close
28:42
up of the final jaw image you're
28:44
thinking dog for sure dog. So
28:47
why would people think that the beast of
28:49
Bray Road is a werewolf? Well
28:52
the explanation lies way back in 1936 when
28:55
this creature was first spotted. Ladyguard
28:58
Mark Shackleman was working the night
29:00
shift patrolling the grounds of the
29:03
Saint Coletta School for Exceptional Children.
29:06
Oh, you went there Dan? You
29:10
were one of Xavier's vehicles weren't you? You
29:14
had the stretchy mouth. If people could just
29:16
kind of bite it and tear it and
29:18
it always kind of flop back into place.
29:20
He was not as kissy bloody. But
29:25
Mark was patrolling the grounds and usually on the
29:27
night shift there really wasn't a lot to worry
29:29
about. Worst case you'd see some kids
29:31
trying to sneak in and he'd have to
29:33
scare them off. But this night would
29:35
be different. Mark Shackleman
29:37
was crossing the school field when he
29:40
noticed a large shadow in the moonlight.
29:42
It looked like a huge dog on all
29:45
fours scratching at the ground but it
29:47
was enormous, far too large to be a
29:49
dog. Whatever this thing was,
29:52
it noticed him too. And
29:54
without warning, Mark watched in
29:56
awe as the creature stood up
29:58
on to the legs. Oh boy.
30:01
Mark said that it had
30:03
a dog-like face but beneath
30:05
its thick fur the
30:07
muscular body of a man. How
30:09
can you see through the thick fur for
30:12
the muscular body? Those muscles. I guess the
30:14
hair levels would, if you
30:16
were nicely even.
30:18
Right. Yeah, this wolf has been manscaping. Yeah,
30:20
you would see the shape of the pecs
30:23
and you would see the, yeah. Then
30:26
classic Derby V. As it's known
30:29
at. Yeah. And believe it or
30:31
not, this wasn't the only time
30:33
he would see this creature. He
30:35
saw it again the next day
30:37
and allegedly got so close that
30:40
he heard it growl at him
30:42
in a half human, half beast
30:44
roar. Sorry, this is incredibly
30:46
rare that we would see something like this and we
30:49
kind of glossed over that. That was the end of the
30:51
interaction. But then he came back the next day, he went
30:53
home at dinner, went
30:55
to bed, came back and it was still there. Yeah.
30:59
He had him with the ninch. It might have
31:01
returned. He was driving to that school that day
31:04
going, I really hope it isn't still, it's still
31:06
there. He's just reversing in
31:08
the carpet. Oh, Jesus Christ. He's
31:11
like, Mark, Mark. Yeah. There's nothing
31:13
worse than something that is still
31:15
there. Yeah. Right.
31:20
You usually don't want to have to have
31:22
a once in a lifetime experience back to
31:24
back. Yeah. Maybe down the line. Sure. That's
31:26
fine. But, uh, the next evening and now
31:28
he's talking as well. You're like, Oh Christ.
31:30
Oh, he's gone home as well. Had a
31:32
shower, had a sleep, gone. Oh, go and
31:34
see if that thing shows up again. What
31:36
the hell was that? So they're both, it's
31:38
like a meet cute, but they're they're refusing
31:40
to meet. He could have gone back to
31:42
his wolf pack and his wolf wife and
31:44
he's like, you never guess what I saw
31:46
at the school for exceptional children. I
31:49
mean, I've seen some exceptional children in my
31:51
life. This guy was through the roof. Shackle
31:59
Man. I wonder what his path. Our. Lives
32:02
of the reasons why people over the years have
32:05
left to werewolf it having the muscular body of
32:07
a man, the fact that a feels like this
32:09
for him to speak English. And
32:11
even though this was the first
32:13
sighting of the beast throughout the eighties
32:15
and nineties, the creature was spotted dozens
32:18
of times by the locals of Elkhorn.
32:20
One woman reported the beast attempting
32:22
to break into her home, leaving behind
32:24
twelve inch footprints. Another young
32:27
girl reported the beast chasing her through
32:29
the forest. In. Nineteen Ninety
32:31
nine and eighteen year old girl with
32:33
driving down for a room as I
32:36
heard as under her car. When.
32:38
She pulled over to see what she
32:40
says. On the side of the road
32:42
was a huge wolf creature standing on
32:45
two legs. When she tried to peel
32:47
away in her car the beast leapt
32:49
onto the trunk but slid off because
32:51
of the rain water and he sped
32:53
home at I. Unfortunately I think we
32:56
have thought that does lot of interesting
32:58
anecdotes their unfortunate that last one. Sometimes
33:00
we see this a lot where people
33:02
hit other people with our cars and
33:04
then that kind of an incentive to
33:07
to make it a paranormal. Situation right?
33:09
Yeah that you know of that person who
33:11
her own blood prince kind of all over.
33:13
The bonus it I wasn't a human. Yeah,
33:15
it's legal rights. that was a a an
33:17
undiscovered grip. The ads when the police come
33:19
the next day and they say we're we're
33:21
looking for someone who had a hit and
33:23
run last night. Yeah, I would know anything
33:25
about the i notice a dent in your
33:27
car. Yes yeah no I was a wolf
33:29
man. Known. Off ahead. Sorry for
33:31
bothering us is actually get on Isis is having
33:33
on the hunt. Just quietly
33:35
as I let me go. But I gotta
33:38
work surface. i
33:40
remember the time i hit twelve little
33:42
bumps as i was speeding right past
33:44
the school for exceptional children of and
33:47
obviously i must have encountered some sort
33:49
of some sort of paranormal been kind
33:51
of stuck shot up of the cars
33:54
motor say any kind of of he
33:56
was sort of like i did like
33:58
mimicry so it was like simulating the
34:00
cries of the young kind of make me
34:03
sympathize with the creature. But
34:05
you can't even look back unless you're reversing to
34:07
make sure you got it, which is what I
34:09
did. Yes, they do say that
34:11
cryptids hang out in your school crossings. What
34:15
is this school by the
34:17
way? I don't know, it's really
34:19
never mentioned. I mean this case is taking place, what did
34:21
I say, 1936? Oh
34:24
wow, yeah, Jesus. Depending
34:27
on how exceptional these children are, I think
34:29
they're mostly dead. I read a Stephen King
34:31
book recently called The Institute, which was kind
34:33
of that, it was a school of gifted
34:35
children who had abilities of psychic abilities and
34:37
so on. I don't know, that's a weird
34:39
curveball, I've never heard of a school like
34:42
that. They still exist. I have a school
34:44
down the road from where I live, which
34:46
is for kids who are twice exceptional, so
34:48
it's a thing. Oh really? Yeah,
34:50
so a lot of kids, one
34:52
of Buttons' kids is exceptional,
34:55
twice exceptional. You're
34:57
amazing at two things
34:59
I think. Minimum, right? Minimum,
35:01
yeah. Come and juggle it. Yeah, come
35:04
on in. There's got to be
35:06
more than one I think. Right, yeah, otherwise.
35:08
I mean we're all good at one thing.
35:11
I would love to know how high this goes, is there a 3e school? 4e's?
35:16
Yeah, we wouldn't know anything about this, we went
35:18
to a convent. We went to a 1u, which
35:20
is unremarkable. Just
35:23
kind of regular children with no
35:25
visible talents. Oh,
35:28
no e-school. No e-school.
35:30
Because they'll let anyone
35:32
in, no exception. Yeah.
35:35
I also don't want to railroad into something else, but
35:37
you did mention the kind of muscular figure
35:40
of this beast, and it probably
35:42
should be said. I think
35:44
as a paranormal investigator, an unfortunate side
35:46
effect of kind of werewolf
35:49
phenomena and popularization, let's face it,
35:51
twilight and so on, that people
35:54
are pretty horny for werewolves these days. You
35:56
can see the emails I get. This
36:00
is the M's. Oh my
36:02
god. Riz, have you
36:04
got a... I
36:06
know whenever I've been researching werewolves
36:09
before, you get about three images
36:11
done, it starts descending into furry
36:13
deviant art type imagery. Yeah,
36:15
Riz, I assume you have an Onlyfangs, which
36:17
is you kind of just posing in lingerie
36:20
with the chest hair out. Wow,
36:23
look into that. Waiting
36:25
for the product all day, okay. We're
36:28
gonna hear about even more sightings of this
36:30
creature right after a quick word from today's
36:32

37:54
something that you're proud of in 2024 so
37:56
far? Go! Mmm, okay.
37:58
Well, I managed to capture... a deadly cryptid
38:00
and lock it in my basement. Okay, and
38:03
tell me, did you take time to celebrate
38:05
that win? Ah, yeah, not
38:07
really. I'm scared if I let my
38:09
guard down, it'll escape. In
38:11
life, it's important that we slow down, acknowledge
38:14
our progress, and set goals that inspire us.
38:16
I can't even sleep at night. I'm so
38:18
scared this thing is gonna break out. When

Life. There
39:01
were so many sightings that eventually
39:03
newspaper journalist Linda Godfrey was sent
39:05
to investigate the case and talk
39:07
to some of the witnesses. Now,
39:10
Linda was a hardcore skeptic. She didn't really
39:12
believe in any of this paranormal nonsense. But
39:15
to give you an idea of how
39:18
quickly her views changed, in 2003, she
39:20
wrote an entire book about the creature.
39:22
I guess. An entire book, not even
39:24
just a quarter of one. Not
39:26
even a pamphlet. You know what, I'm gonna finish it. It hangs out. It's
39:31
not determined. My last 13 books,
39:33
I never quite got through. But
39:35
blow it, I'm gonna finish this one. Yeah,
39:40
I finished the prologue, but I just think there's
39:42
not that much in it actually. I think that's
39:44
it. I'll leave it there, thanks. I'm
39:47
gonna stop at the blurb, but I'm
39:49
really feeling this. I think the book
39:51
was called Just the Beast of Bray
39:53
Road. But
39:55
I Assume people didn't really believe what she
39:57
was saying in that book, because only if.
40:00
You years later she released a second
40:02
book titled I know what I saw.
40:05
Not a criticism. Little Blue Button First book. gotta
40:08
responses? Yeah, no wonder she doesn't finish them. Seeing
40:10
the that and then the next that was lucky
40:12
should be just happy I'm completing her to. A
40:16
certain. Amount.
40:21
Inevitably, any book called Listen Up! A
40:25
cinema space. and guys, we've all been encrypted
40:27
hunting game for a while. It's easy to
40:29
talk about legends. Tell stories. But at
40:31
the end of the day what we
40:33
really need is hardcore evidence. And.
40:35
Seeing as the video that I showed you with
40:38
the start is essentially confirmed to be a hoax.
40:40
Of have my Rory need. It would have
40:42
been a breeze or without a carrot or
40:45
fortunately I I found out as late as
40:47
you guys are finding out right now for
40:49
their room as entire script and I was
40:51
like oh I need a source for the
40:53
video it's a hoax out the fastest swiping
40:55
that I didn't want to say earlier but
40:57
I do sometimes got a bit more skeptical
41:00
when a video like that with an ending
41:02
like that comes out. So when we talk
41:04
about the Dublin Gorilla mans like one great
41:06
thing is that you don't have any video
41:08
of it and that contained in our heads.
41:10
A bit more I is more real but the story
41:13
kind of slightly all bit weird for me when I
41:15
saw the video cause autism My cable that's that's a
41:17
hoax isn't it? Yeah I'm glad you're acknowledging it's a
41:19
hoax because now I can knock that our. I can
41:21
also point out that I did sort of draw the
41:24
people's attention than I thought was a hug soon. Iran.
41:27
If we run the types is going
41:29
to. Say look
41:31
at as you can tell hear that why would you
41:34
stop at like that's I suddenly and I didn't say
41:36
anything but I was thinking a lot of the same
41:38
source but just the i think we were girls on
41:40
a preserver his dignity in that moment. Can we actually
41:42
rewind again to the improv club scene Because I was
41:45
just really enjoying that and love to hear from her.
41:48
This instance, say.
41:51
Gg like kissing isolated have a
41:53
breakdown of. I
41:56
love that is is. the second i mentioned oh by
41:58
the way it's a hoax every single one I
42:00
thought so. I did like to
42:02
think it was a hoax. Check please! Hey
42:05
actually just back to that dance scene and
42:07
the fact only fangs and stuff. I remember
42:10
in my single days I also, it was
42:12
an early day of internet dating and Tinder
42:14
and stuff like that and I signed up
42:16
to a paranormal dating app. No
42:18
way. Yeah so you would go on and the
42:20
whole idea was you would be matching with people
42:22
who have very specific interests to what you had.
42:24
So yeah I went on that but it was
42:26
just me and five other dudes. So
42:30
I rolled a package looking at each other's
42:32
profiles and going, are these ladies going to
42:34
turn up or? What we dudes in the
42:36
shadows. Please
42:40
tell me, did you go on any dates from that
42:42
app? I slept with them all yeah. There's only really
42:44
one night cub, just get out the ball of keys
42:46
right. What are they going to do? Go home? Well
42:50
you know I did want to bring up the fact
42:52
that it is a hoax because you know on this
42:54
podcast we do love to tell these stories, we love
42:56
to have fun but we are also trying to decide
42:58
whether or not something's real, we have to play the
43:01
role of the believer and the skeptic and
43:03
this footage actually I think it was
43:05
kind of mysterious and unconfirmed for quite
43:08
a few number of years which
43:10
is why it cemented so much in the legend
43:13
of this creature but I believe it was almost
43:15
quite recently that the person who made it came
43:17
out and told the whole story about how they
43:19
faked it. So it is quite linked ahead
43:21
of the legend? Yeah it did, it had a very good
43:23
run. I know I've disappointed
43:26
you a little bit with the first piece
43:28
of evidence but don't worry I have exactly
43:30
what you need to push this case over
43:32
into a double yes today because
43:35
on January 27th,
43:37
2018 Danny
43:39
Morgan of Menomonee Falls
43:41
Wisconsin sent an email
43:43
to the paranormal website
43:45
Wisconsin Frights to
43:47
report something that he witnessed driving home
43:49
late at night. The
43:51
email said, hey I
43:54
took this photo Saturday night in Elkhorn
43:56
north of Lake Geneva after hitting a
43:58
couple of bars of water. with my
44:00
buddy. Probably shouldn't have put that bit
44:02
in. I told
44:04
my brother that I saw a wolf run
44:07
across the road on its hind legs.
44:10
I figured the full moon just causes animals
44:12
to act weird or scared, but
44:15
he said there are werewolves
44:17
in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Wow.
44:20
I have that photo right here and I'm gonna hand
44:22
it out to you so you can look at this
44:24
evidence up close, examine it, and decide whether or not
44:26
you think this is believable. I think it's good he
44:28
mentioned the bar thing because what you don't want is
44:30
a story of me saying, oh I've done this thing
44:32
and I saw a wolf come out and then later
44:34
on someone's like, so what were you doing before? I
44:36
was in the bar, you know, it just described, he's
44:38
putting it out up front. Getting ahead of it. Yeah.
44:41
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's
44:43
like, I've been drunk thousands of times and
44:45
this has not happened. So get
44:47
that out of your heads. Okay, take
44:50
a look. I'll pass him along.
44:52
Okay. Oh, wow.
44:55
Like sort of skeleton-y
44:58
in the arms there. This
45:03
is, uh, that's quite
45:05
intriguing. Really something. Interesting,
45:08
isn't it? The thing is, is that,
45:10
you know, a werewolf is going
45:12
to look like a standing dog to some degree.
45:14
Let's just go what it is.
45:16
Yeah. So Dan's doing it a disservice here. I think,
45:19
uh, maybe I should do a little introduction to the
45:21
image for our audio listeners. It's so bad. What
45:25
we're seeing here is a beast
45:27
of ancient times traversing the land
45:29
in the dark of night. A
45:32
wolf-like cryptid standing on two legs,
45:34
walking across the road. Yes. He
45:37
does for some reason have tiny
45:39
little T-Rex arms and skeleton.
45:41
There's no skin on them. I don't know why he
45:43
is. Well, it happened to the, uh, skeleton arm. It's
45:45
right, Paul. Is this
45:47
skeleton arm? You can see the
45:50
bone there. Wow. But maybe that's
45:52
like, God knows. Maybe that's the
45:54
moonlight casting through, you know, and
45:56
also this is mid-transformation.
46:00
one could say. The four
46:02
legs, the front legs, have
46:04
not fully developed into their
46:07
muscular wolf form. Okay.
46:09
Right. So I'm just from
46:12
my own, you know, werewolf history.
46:14
I know, you know, what transforms
46:16
first and where it goes
46:18
from there. On this
46:20
particular beast, the
46:23
head is fully there, shoulders,
46:25
classic, tongue
46:27
out. The Darby V. We're not quite
46:29
the Darby V there yet, but yeah. I think you're
46:31
getting the Darby V, but you, yeah, the
46:34
last thing to go. Now also what's worth
46:36
noting is he's a happy
46:38
boy with his tail. Yeah.
46:41
It's mid-wag. He's not
46:43
smiling either. You know, it kind
46:45
of, this is a dog that's in the treat. I
46:47
think this dog was at a couple of bars as well. By
46:50
the way, he's kind of waddling. It's definitely
46:53
a tummy on him that says some beers
46:55
have been conspired. It's really got the energy
46:57
of like, he's running a 5k or something.
46:59
That does. You just need a number
47:01
on the front of him and you're like, come on
47:04
buddy. Yeah. Right. Yeah. But he's
47:06
clearly doing the robot. I
47:09
think it could be me. I'll
47:12
be honest. This wasn't exactly how
47:14
this evidence is panning out.
47:16
I was hoping it was going to be a
47:18
little bit more convincing. I thought you guys were
47:20
going to just be, well, there we have it.
47:22
Standing ovation. And eventually, you know, what I will
47:24
give the witness credit for here is this is,
47:26
um, there's a lot of detail and
47:28
it's very close to the camera. He got really nice,
47:31
uh, and close to the thing. Yeah, he did.
47:33
And I think he said that this was taken
47:35
from his car. So I don't know if this
47:37
is maybe a dash cam screen shot. When is
47:40
he driving? If this is a desk? Oh, I
47:42
mean, he's off-roading for sure. All right. So what
47:44
does he say?
47:48
And he's saying this is the beast
47:50
itself. He was driving on
47:53
Bray road in the exact place that
47:55
this creature has been spotted for over
47:57
hundreds of years. This is believed
47:59
to be one of the the
48:01
most convincing photographic pieces of evidence
48:03
in The Beast of Bray Road.
48:06
There must be more though because there's no way you
48:08
would kind of try to round out an episode with
48:10
this being your leading piece of evidence. I would have
48:12
thought there'd be a silver bullet in there somewhere. This
48:15
is the bullet. Okay. This
48:17
is the bullet. Just to be completely clear. Yes.
48:20
I assume everyone has made their conclusions at this
48:23
point. Yes. Yes. It's
48:26
real. Yeah. So, what do
48:28
you think about the origins of this creature and
48:30
of werewolves in general? We've seen some photos, heard
48:32
some testimonies. As I said,
48:34
you two are our esteemed guests on
48:37
today's episode. So, we will throw
48:39
it to you first. What are you thinking
48:41
about today's case? Do you think we have
48:43
enough evidence? Do you enjoy the stories? Is
48:45
it similar to creatures that you've
48:47
investigated before? I mean, Riz,
48:49
you probably know this guy, right? I've got to
48:51
say, if it's not me, it's disappointing because
48:54
he's clearly doing the robot. So,
48:57
if you look at the different parts of
48:59
this beast, the head, have a
49:01
good look at the head. Yep,
49:03
that's the head. Then do the
49:05
torso and then concentrate on the arms
49:07
of separate pieces. And then finally, do
49:10
the hind legs area with the tail. It
49:14
looks like a spliced together three
49:16
or four, including three
49:18
CPO, four different characters
49:20
put together. Right. There's
49:23
no way that's... And the face, yeah,
49:26
it's a no from me. All
49:29
right. Okay. Dan, don't
49:32
let that influence you. You know, you
49:34
still... I didn't listen for that very
49:36
reason. Fantastic. Yeah. Oh,
49:38
hey. She's back for us. Yeah.
49:45
The thing I love is I haven't heard of
49:47
the Beast of Bray Road. And I always
49:49
love when something can exist for as long as
49:51
a hundred years and multiple books have been written
49:53
and multiple investigations are going on. I think every
49:56
town needs a monster to believe in. I
49:58
think it's really good for kids to... to
50:00
even if it's not true to have in
50:02
their heads when they're camping and tell these
50:04
amazing stories because I think it keeps mystery
50:06
alive. So I think the evidence is a
50:08
bit of a letdown obviously because one's a
50:10
dog and the other one we know is
50:12
fake. Yep. Um, but the
50:14
idea of it is something I'd never
50:16
want to poo-poo. And so I'm
50:19
a agnostic middle on this one.
50:21
I think much like
50:23
neither beast nor man, I think it's
50:26
neither real nor fake. Okay, well then
50:28
I think the only reasonable thing that
50:30
we can do is throw
50:32
one additional vote to kit a
50:34
resident investigator. It's a no-kick. Oh
50:36
right. To be absolutely
50:39
clear, yeah. I realized he
50:41
was throwing you a lifeline there but I really
50:43
had to chop it off and let you drown,
50:45
you know. Who does for damn
50:47
are keeping the dream alive though? I mean
50:49
I love that. In almost 370 episodes
50:52
of This Power in My Life, I don't think
50:54
we've ever had a maybe, a kind of middle
50:56
of the road. So that is absolutely new territory.
50:58
But I appreciate where you're coming from, Dan. I
51:00
think even me investigating this case, I've covered a
51:02
lot of cryptids before. And
51:04
you know, there's a lot of cliches I think you see
51:06
in this story. People seeing it
51:08
in the side of the road, the wolf
51:11
on its back legs with the glowing eyes. But
51:14
there's quite a few, maybe because it's based
51:16
in quite a small town, it's more
51:18
part of their heritage and their folklore. The stories
51:21
are more interesting. If you go
51:23
on YouTube, you can see news reports
51:25
from as old back as
51:27
the 1980s of TV broadcasters
51:31
going and interviewing locals. And it really is
51:33
a big thing there that they believe in.
51:36
So I am also, yes of
51:38
course, giving it a no this week. But
51:42
I like it. I like it a
51:44
lot. Unfortunately yes, this photo does
51:46
look like something that Sid
51:49
from Toy Story would create in his bedroom. Unfortunately,
51:52
kind of just a mishmash of demonic
51:54
creatures and robots. I
51:56
would love to go there and I would love
51:58
to do further investigation. I would
52:00
like to see more evidence, you
52:02
know, we've been a little light this episode one
52:05
video that was clearly fake but fun and a
52:08
sort of photocopied thing there
52:10
that Yeah, doesn't get
52:13
you. It's once again fun funny, but
52:17
Yeah, I don't want to belittle the town and I
52:19
love towns that have beasts like you're saying Dan But
52:22
just based on that and really just
52:24
the letdown was those those robotic arms
52:32
It's very hard to get across he
52:34
for some reason has undeveloped skeleton arms
52:36
on a dog's body But the dogs
52:38
body is mid transformation idea from me
52:40
though was I really like yeah,
52:42
I really nice curveball Well, I
52:44
like the idea that mid transformation goes all the
52:46
way to skeleton and then skeleton
52:50
has to form
52:52
yeah Okay
52:55
We'd be looking at some sort of you know, is
52:57
this maybe a hybrid where a leprechaun was bitten by
52:59
a werewolf brother We all said no You
53:06
really took the maybe and thought you could bump them up I
53:10
think the real question is who was this
53:12
person who bit my face enjoyed it and
53:14
then who was this lady that you saw
53:17
Biting of a man and is it the same person?
53:19
I think for me that's that's all I'm thinking about
53:21
the fact that they are at Large this is not
53:24
Early to mid 2000 that is
53:27
yesterday Yesterday very very terrifying. Yeah,
53:29
we may actually have to do a bit
53:31
of on-location investigating. Yeah, as we wrap here
53:34
We've got some hunting tools here. We've got some
53:36
dowsing rods and EMF reader Maybe
53:38
just grab a couple crucifixes crucify.
53:40
Don't know the plural is I think the
53:42
you know, if we're thinking about laying bait For
53:46
this person. I think we get a large cardboard
53:48
cutout of down. Oh, yeah, we got
53:50
the real thing here I think we just drive
53:52
near a park style. Yeah, yeah, put you in
53:54
kind of a platter and we watch from a
53:57
van With with goggles. Yeah
53:59
what I'm doing don't you from the distance?
54:04
It's a trigger. That's how we draw the back in. We
54:06
should have one of those one pound for a kiss kissing
54:08
boots and I'll just sit there. We'll
54:10
wait. I'll make sure I've got more records. Just five
54:13
dudes in the line. Oh no, it's the dude
54:18
from the paranormal dating site. Oh
54:20
god, hi guys. How's it going? How's it
54:23
going? Can't believe we
54:25
got ghosted even though it's thematically on
54:27
point it just is disappointing. Thank
54:30
you so much for joining us for this week's investigation.
54:32
Thank you so much for having us. This was such
54:34
a joy. Yes, if you haven't already, do
54:36
listen to The Quifted
54:38
Factor. Thank you. You want to
54:40
tell us a little bit about what people
54:43
can expect if they tune in. Similar stuff.
54:45
Our first segment every week
54:49
is weekly world weird news. So we
54:52
take in news stories that are bizarre
54:54
from around the world and we do
54:56
a headline off and then we
54:58
get into those stories and then we get
55:01
into cryptid stuff in the second half of
55:03
the show. And so it's it's it encompasses
55:05
the entire world of the bizarre. Just we
55:07
try to stay away from ghosts. That's
55:10
just a good rule in general. We get we
55:12
get people on. We
55:18
have interviews with the scientists. It's science
55:20
based. You know, we believe
55:22
in science. So but we really have
55:24
fun with the mystery of the world.
55:27
Right. And you know, the show
55:29
is so kind of loose
55:32
and fun and wacky. You would
55:34
actually kind of on first listen, you know, if
55:36
someone's tuning in for the first time, they might
55:38
assume that this is really flippant about
55:40
the paranormal. But it's actually not. And whenever
55:42
you guys bring stories to the table, get
55:44
quite into it and have, you know, up
55:47
to date new sightings of cryptids and
55:49
things. I mean, the level of quality
55:51
and evidence is arguably parallel to what
55:54
we've seen today. Right. You know, sure.
55:56
I'm trying
55:59
to remain very quiet. But this is the most evidence
56:01
we've had in weeks. The strength of the
56:03
box. I love it.
56:05
But we had a great thing recently, because we've
56:07
got to a place now where we've made so
56:09
many friends who are out there in the world
56:12
doing this, like actually looking in the front lines.
56:14
And we were able to help put a bit
56:16
of evidence out into the world via a guy
56:18
called Steve Falpham and a lady
56:21
called Chi Kelly, who took a photo of
56:23
something that was mysteriously coming out of Loch
56:25
Ness. And Steve,
56:27
who's a Loch Ness Monster Hunter, said, I think
56:29
in the 30-odd years I've been here,
56:31
this is the best evidence I've seen of a surface
56:33
level sighting. And
56:36
he's so pragmatic about it.
56:38
He's not someone who will just believe
56:40
anything. He really says no, no, no
56:42
to a lot of stuff. And he
56:45
basically said, I think this is it. And it
56:48
was released into the papers as just three images,
56:50
because she just kept the three best images. And
56:53
then while we were talking to Steve, he
56:55
got word from her that her husband, Scott,
56:58
had actually discovered that all the
57:00
photos of 70 photos, because it was
57:02
one of those sports cameras. So when you
57:04
click, five photos in a row, thank God.
57:06
He found all the old photos. And so
57:08
we were able to take the photos. And
57:10
with Buttons, the third of our members of
57:12
Cryptid Factor, he's a real genius
57:14
of filming. He's a documentary maker. He put
57:16
a timeline together of it in motion. And
57:19
so we were able to put that down
57:21
to the wild and help out the story.
57:23
So we're in a place now where people
57:25
are approaching us, much like you
57:27
guys, getting all your fans and stuff, sending stuff
57:30
in, where we can help them amplify their
57:32
stories and get it out a bit more.
57:34
Yeah, it's quite fun. The longer that you
57:36
do this, you start to become a part
57:39
of the evidence. Quite interesting. Yeah, yeah. Yeah,
57:41
we started off just completely ripping it to
57:44
shit. And then at some point, you were
57:46
just the last person standing. You care the
57:48
most about it. Yeah. You
57:51
either, what do they say? You either are the
57:53
investigator or you live long enough to be the
57:55
witness. Yeah, until
57:58
you eventually get investigated yourself. Now,
58:00
do you two have any particular paranormal cases
58:03
that you would consider to be your favorite
58:05
or most convincing? Because we're always looking for
58:07
tips here. Is this something you think maybe
58:09
that we should be looking into? Well
58:12
there's the Chupacabra that was
58:14
found in Churo,
58:17
Texas. And there's a
58:19
lady there, a taxidermist. She's
58:22
not a taxidermist, but she's
58:25
actually a big game hunter. And
58:28
she came across this creature
58:30
on her property. They
58:32
managed to capture it and
58:35
it was dead, but
58:37
it had killed the Chupacabra of all
58:39
her chickens and as well
58:41
as some other neighbors. Her
58:44
taxidermy friend, taxidermied
58:47
it. So we went and visited it. It
58:50
was before Dan joined the team. But
58:53
this was an amazing creature. I
58:56
would look into that one because it
58:59
puts credibility
59:01
to the Chupacabra case. Right.
59:04
Yeah. Because I think we've covered the
59:06
Chupacabra a long time ago. I don't think we got
59:08
to the taxidermy. I don't think we saw that. I
59:10
think that episode of my event had differently had we
59:12
seen a taxidermy version. So we need to see that.
59:15
It's a tangible thing that you can look
59:18
into and she'll speak to you about
59:20
it. There's been many docos and stuff and
59:22
things with regards to it. And
59:24
the arms of this Chupacabra, were they
59:26
small and skeletal or are they? You
59:28
know what? They actually were. Yes.
59:31
A little bit. Something in that. Okay.
59:34
Something in that. Definitely big hind legs. And
59:37
it had the body,
59:39
it had a sort of a hide,
59:41
like an elephant hide. Yeah.
59:44
The skin was really weird and it had
59:46
big nub jewels on its bum where
59:48
some believe the wings used to be. So
59:51
yeah. It's kind of like it's a hybrid
59:54
when they did DNA test between
59:57
a coyote and a. like
1:00:00
a Mexican blue wolf or something that's got
1:00:02
these solid demon blue eyes
1:00:04
that are very very very
1:00:07
pale blue it's quite freaky. We might have
1:00:09
to reopen our case then that sounds like
1:00:11
a big development. It really sounds like it.
1:00:13
Yeah what about you Dan do you have
1:00:15
any to stand out? Yeah there's there's two
1:00:17
that um for me so one I like
1:00:20
it and this is this is the world that we get
1:00:22
to enjoy as a result of what we do random people
1:00:24
will hear us talking they might go home to dinner and
1:00:26
go oh I'm doing this thing and then someone will tell
1:00:28
them a story and they report it back to us. I
1:00:31
was recording the audiobook of a book I wrote
1:00:33
which is all about weirdness and
1:00:35
theories and stuff a few
1:00:37
years ago and I was doing the audiobook for
1:00:39
it and my sound engineer he
1:00:41
um he went for dinner at the pub with
1:00:43
his two mates and he was like oh Dan's
1:00:45
doing this whole thing about he has this thing
1:00:48
about impossible things that have happened to you that
1:00:50
no one believes but it definitely happened and it
1:00:52
sits outside of your belief system but it definitely
1:00:54
happened and his two buddies at the at the
1:00:56
pub table went oh my god we have one
1:00:58
of those and we we had it together we
1:01:00
both saw it and he was like
1:01:02
so what is it he said we were driving down a
1:01:04
country road in England it was late at
1:01:06
night we had our headlights on full beam
1:01:09
and then right in front of us across the
1:01:11
road I swear to god a potato
1:01:13
on legs just ran across the road and
1:01:15
he was like oh yeah yeah nice one
1:01:18
and the other friend went honest to god
1:01:21
I saw it too it was a potato it
1:01:23
had legs and it was running across the road so
1:01:25
that's one I'd like to look into more I've got
1:01:27
to find out the location of where that was I'm
1:01:29
gonna find out all there's a lot to there's a
1:01:31
lot of stuff I need to get the other one
1:01:33
is you're gonna have to cc us on those yeah
1:01:35
I will do I think our Irish heritage as well
1:01:38
can maybe play a vital part in these I feel
1:01:40
it's important that I said it to you out
1:01:42
loud because I think you're the boys for that
1:01:44
story really so I'll come back to you because
1:01:46
we need to find out it doesn't have tiny
1:01:48
arms that's the key yeah but two little toothpicks
1:01:50
yeah like that for arms yeah it actually makes
1:01:53
sense it was seen in England because we would
1:01:55
have eaten it in history if we'd
1:01:57
just seen it in Ireland that would be dinner yeah I
1:01:59
don't know on the run. The
1:02:02
other one is, well, I was saying
1:02:05
earlier about, I love that this town
1:02:07
in Wisconsin has the werewolf
1:02:09
as part of its thing. And growing up,
1:02:11
I never had a local monster. And
1:02:14
so that always was a sadness for me. And
1:02:16
it was only two years ago, as I was
1:02:18
writing this book, that I found myself
1:02:20
looking into the local area that I lived in, because
1:02:22
there was a famous story about how a road that
1:02:25
I used to take every single day was haunted, and
1:02:27
that people would see a ghost appear in the back
1:02:29
window of a car. So you'd look through
1:02:31
your rearview mirror, and there was the same ghost
1:02:33
and people always talk about it. So I was
1:02:36
looking into that and then discovered that on that
1:02:38
very same road, there's a lake, it's called Narrabeen
1:02:40
Lagoon. A lady
1:02:42
called Mabel Walsh back in the 1930s,
1:02:45
I think it was reported an elephant
1:02:47
like human coming out and crossing the
1:02:49
road and going into the lagoon. And,
1:02:52
and then it's only ever been
1:02:54
seen once since. So I did have a local
1:02:56
cryptid, which I've now called Narry, because
1:02:58
it doesn't really have a name, because Narrabeen
1:03:00
and tribute to Nessie. Yeah. And so my
1:03:02
brother, he lives in an apartment that has
1:03:05
a view over Narry. So he's now the
1:03:07
official Steve Feltham of the local area. He's
1:03:09
got peribinoculars, he makes sure to look. Very
1:03:11
cool. And I think amplifying local monsters is
1:03:13
really important for kids. So that's my other
1:03:15
favorite one, just because I had a monster
1:03:17
all along and I didn't know it. And
1:03:19
I want people to know about it. Yeah,
1:03:21
I'm going to be championing Narry from here
1:03:23
on in. I like that. Giving it a
1:03:25
name. Yeah. Give you a bit of a
1:03:27
setting up an IP. Making some stickers, get
1:03:30
some merch going. Yeah, exactly. Bring
1:03:32
those big bucks in,
1:03:34
baby. Research for a book. Yeah.
1:03:37
Do you think you'll finish it? No, no, no.
