Can a mobile application truly change our behavior?

It’s an interesting concept to consider.  The way we communicate and socially interact is more or less channeled through a myriad of mobile apps. Think about it, can you imagine your life before smartphones and mobile apps? It’s hard to remember what it was like before emails came straight to your phone, before an app counted your calories and before you could date with the swipe of a finger.

It’s clear that apps have changed the way we communicate, that we know for sure. But is it possible that we are overlooking the massive impact apps have on human behavior throughout our daily lives? A couple of us were curious so we decided to discuss this concept in detail on our podcast.  We discuss the apps that changed our moods, our buying behavior, our dating habits and even the way we think about health.

• As of May 2015, Android users were able to choose between 1.5 million apps and Apple’s App store came in second with 1.4 million available apps for download.
• There are currently 224 million monthly active app users in the US
• Since last year the amount of time people spend using apps has increased by 21%
• People now spend more time using apps than they do accessing the web from a desktop or mobile device and 85% of people prefer native mobile apps to websites.
