Hey there listeners!

Welcome to the inaugural episode of Surviving the Horror (StH). This is a show that Josh and I (Colin) have been toying around with for a while in the background and we're excited to finally be able to launch it. The idea here is that once a month we will sit down to playthrough and discuss a survival horror game. The game can be from any console / ecosystem, it can be old or new, good or bad, it really doesn't matter as long as it's survival horror. After we play through it we'll sit down and discuss the story , the characters, the gameplay systems, soundtrack etc. and try to come to a determination of whether or not the game is truly a survival horror game.

For our first episode we're diving back in time to 2010 and the Xbox 360 release of Deadly Premonition. Developed by Access Games and directed by Hidetaka "Swery" Suihiro, Deadly Premonition has long gained attention for it's strange setting and characters, tonal shifts, and at times completely bonkers design decisions. However, among survival horror fans the game has also garnered a cult like following of sorts and is often cited as one of the most interesting horror games one can play. After spending 20 hours or so with the game, I think we can confidently say that this one is worth a look. We hope you enjoy the discussion and thank you for listening.
