1:02

This is the Hidden Killers podcast

1:04

with Tony Bruschi. This last

1:06

week I had the opportunity to sit down and have

1:09

a in-depth conversation with private

1:11

investigator Thomas Brennan. Tom

1:14

is the private investigator that's been hired by

1:17

the parents

1:19

of Ellen Greenberg, Joshua

1:22

and Sandy Greenberg, as they search

1:24

for justice and answers in the death

1:27

of their daughter. A death that

1:29

was quite clearly a homicide, considering

1:31

she was stabbed 20 times. Several

1:35

of those stab wounds, fatal blows,

1:39

which would make it a physical impossibility

1:42

for her to continue stabbing herself

1:45

up to 20 times. The

1:49

problem with this is her death has

1:51

been labeled a suicide by the Philadelphia

1:54

Police Department.

1:56

A department which refuses to investigate

1:59

the death further. and refuses

2:01

to change the cause of death to homicide,

2:04

which it rightfully should be. Why

2:08

is that? Why is it so

2:11

difficult? Why

2:14

are so many refusing to

2:18

speak the truth about

2:20

the death of Ellen Greenberg? We

2:23

discuss all of that and more in this five-part

2:26

series, our conversation

2:28

with Thomas Brennan, private investigator,

2:31

into the death of Ellen Greenberg. New

2:35

episodes every day this week, Monday

2:37

through Friday, here on the podcast.

2:43

Thomas, in our last piece of the conversation,

2:45

we were talking about

2:48

the police work, about

2:50

the investigation or lack thereof

2:54

into what clearly was

2:56

a murder scene. Is

2:58

this something that is truly

3:00

nefarious or could

3:03

other circumstances be at play here? There was

3:05

a horrible nor'easter going on at

3:08

that moment in time. Was it a

3:10

difficulty of getting people from point A

3:12

to point B? Or

3:14

is something else at

3:17

play here

3:18

preventing the investigation from even

3:21

getting off the ground?

3:25

I don't know because according

3:28

to that report that I told you

3:30

about, according

3:32

to that report, the

3:34

fiance was taken to

3:38

police district

3:41

headquarters in Philadelphia

3:43

to be interviewed. We have

3:46

never been allowed to see any police

3:48

reports. Okay, so I don't

3:50

know what was said. I don't know who

3:52

was there. You know, so

3:54

I can't tell you any of that. Okay. Yeah,

3:56

you know, I've heard a lot of rumors that

3:59

he was represented. my castle. Okay,

4:03

so you know, I just don't

4:05

know. I just don't.

4:08

And, you know,

4:10

when

4:15

you take

4:17

a look at that, the scene itself,

4:20

okay, as soon

4:23

as you walk in, as soon as you go into

4:25

the apartment, and you see

4:27

the victim lying, you know, propped

4:30

up in this corner in the kitchen on the

4:32

floor, immediately

4:34

look, you take a look at that. And it's, whoa,

4:37

we just a minute. Okay,

4:41

just a minute.

4:43

You know, and then you see dried and

4:45

coagulated blood, you know,

4:48

you know, that should be running,

4:53

you know, the way

4:56

the way the victim is positioned, it

4:58

should be running vertically. Instead,

5:01

it's running horizontally to the ear. Okay.

5:07

So you take

5:09

a look at that. And then you

5:14

do things like you take a listen

5:18

to the 911 call. And

5:21

you hear the fiance telling

5:23

everyone that she's on her back. Well,

5:27

in the photograph, she's not on her back. She's sitting

5:30

up. That's

5:33

an inconsistency. Okay.

5:38

You know, and, you

5:41

know, because

5:46

I mean, Philadelphia has Philadelphia

5:50

police department, district

5:54

attorney's office, civil

5:56

examiner's office. They

5:59

are you know, all

6:04

three entities completely refused

6:06

to do anything, you know, cooperate

6:08

with us at all. Yeah. At

6:11

all. And, you know,

6:13

and then,

6:15

Tony, I don't

6:17

know, I don't know, even, even

6:19

like with, okay,

6:21

you talk about Dr. Galino,

6:23

Dr. Galino was the medical examiner

6:26

for the Philadelphia

6:28

medical examiner's

6:30

office. Okay. He

6:33

sits resign. But

6:36

anyway, when I first got involved

6:39

in this, the first thing I did was contact

6:41

him. Sure. Okay.

6:45

Now, you have parents who

6:47

believe their daughter was killed.

6:51

It didn't commit suicide.

6:54

I called him and he, you know, and he

6:56

says, I say, well,

6:59

Dr. Galino, I'd like to interview Dr.

7:02

Osborne. Okay.

7:05

He's the, he's the doctor that did the autopsy.

7:07

Okay. Dr. Galino says no.

7:11

Why is that? Okay. So

7:17

about a year goes by and, you

7:19

know, I'm doing some other things with the case on the case.

7:22

And I contact Dr. Wayne

7:25

Ross. Okay.

7:27

Because I know Dr. Wayne Ross is

7:30

a, is a court certified, a court certified

7:33

expert

7:36

and stabled. Okay. So

7:39

I want him to take a look at this case. So

7:42

I give it to him. I give everything

7:44

that I have to him. He takes

7:46

a look at it, comes back to me and says, Hey, Tom, you're

7:48

right. This is a house. There's

7:50

no way in hell this is a suicide.

7:53

I said, okay. So I

7:55

called Dr. Osborne. I, I, you know, I

7:58

emailed him, copied.

7:59

of Dr. Wayne Ross's report and

8:03

he, I called

8:05

him and he said, well, since

8:09

Dr. Ross and

8:11

Dr. R's were one of our medical professionals,

8:14

I'll allow them, I'll allow

8:16

Dr. Ross to speak

8:18

with Dr. Osborn. Okay. Okay.

8:22

So

8:23

that conference

8:26

call, okay, took place

8:28

in the office of the Dauphin County

8:31

coroner here in

8:33

Hendersburg. Okay.

8:36

There were the people present

8:38

were Dr. Wayne Ross, the

8:42

Dauphin County coroner and

8:45

myself. So

8:48

Dr. Ross

8:52

interviewed Dr. Ross and I'm on

8:54

the phone and he got finished

8:56

asking questions and Dr. Ross wasn't

8:59

happy with the way Dr. Ross was answering

9:01

these questions.

9:04

He stopped talking to Dr. Osborn

9:06

and I started talking to him and asking him questions.

9:09

I said, Dr. Osborn, I

9:11

said, right

9:12

when we were finishing up our conversation,

9:14

I said, Dr. Osborn, can you

9:17

tell me why you

9:20

changed the cause and manner of death

9:23

from homicide to suicide?

9:27

Okay. And these, you know, what

9:29

his, his response is in, you know,

9:32

I mean, it's burnt on my brain.

9:34

Yeah. This is the question everyone wants to know the

9:36

answer to

9:38

that. He responded with, okay.

9:41

I did it at the insistence

9:45

of the police.

9:46

Okay. And I

9:48

said, can you tell me

9:50

who they are? I said, did they have a degree in

9:52

path? I said, do any of

9:55

the officers that you talked to have a degree in pathology?

10:00

call ended. Okay. And

10:03

now Dr. Osborne is in Florida.

10:07

I don't know if anyone has had the chance to

10:10

read the depositions of Dr. Gollino

10:13

and Dr. Osborne. I

10:18

don't know why, but Dr.

10:22

Osborne and Dr. Gollino when

10:27

counsel for the Greenberg, Joe Pedraza,

10:31

Mr. Pedraza, when

10:34

he deposed both of those individuals,

10:40

if you read their deposition,

10:42

the transcript of the depositions, Mr.

10:45

Pedraza interviews

10:48

Dr. Osborne and Dr.

10:50

Gollino regarding Dr.

10:52

Gollino's performance.

10:57

They say in their depositions, there

11:00

were never any problems, no

11:03

problems at all. Okay. None of what's

11:05

so happened. Tony,

11:08

I have three memos

11:11

signed by the

11:13

deputy

11:16

medical examiner,

11:19

Dr. Gary Collins, who is now

11:22

the medical examiner for the state

11:24

of Delaware. Three

11:27

memos criticizing

11:31

Dr. Osborne for his performance. Three

11:35

different memos. You
