#oyoROADmap2019 Monthly Sanitation Exercise #Special Tomorrow Saturday the 31st of August 2019 being the last Saturday of the month, is another in the series of the state wide cleaning exercise in Oyo State. The ministry of environment and the Oyo State government is partnering with a private company 'WestAfricanEnrg to stage a public cleanup campaign to sensitise members of the general public to the importance of the day. A joint clean up exercise with the officials of the partnering bodies is to come up tomorrow at Mokola area through Sabo. In a release on the Facebook page of the Oyo State ministry of information stated that members of the public are invited. In a telephone interview with one of the officials attached to the programme who identified himself as Ajibola, members of the public are enjoined to bring along their personal sanitation equipment since nobody could estimate the exact number of people that may be willing to join the Mokola exercise. Responding to the question about taking the campaign to the remaining 32 local government areas of the state, Mr Ajibola said "any member of the public that is willing to organize similar campaign in their local government area, should contact any of the given telephone number below : 08035395413 / 08165310675 / 09099581501. Talking with some peoples in Onaara local government area, a man who claimed to be a member of the ruling party observed that similar campaign existed in the past when the party in power his party leaders led by the party chairman would converge at a point each day of the public cleaning up exercise to clean up the area. "That has always been a point of encouragement when Alhaji Aduodekun use to lead our party members to clean up the water ways" he submitted. "Members of the public couldn't just resist the sight of Alhaji Aduodekun cleaning their water ways so they have always joined us on the exercise. Our finding then was that residents of such area have always make it a point of duty to follow up with the exercise in subsequent monthly sanitation exercise." the man said. In a chat with the Chairman of Ifesowapo Landlord association at Ariyo bus stop, the chairman stated that it would bring about a great breakthrough if the ministry of environment could make the campaign it a simultaneous exercise in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo State. Many shop owners and residents only kept indoor waiting for the period of the exercise to lapse, he claimed! "If government could appoint Sanitation Ambassadors for each of the 'sitting landlord associations across the state, it would be easier to motivate our people to come out and participate when they learnt that somebody could report them to the ministry of environment" he stated. He went further to say that a particular Drug Store proprietor has always dumped his carton waste into the river opposite the road. And the people living directly by the road couldn't stop him. What's most disheartening is the fact that the drug store is a academically qualified and certificated environmental officer. We can't just say such men don't know what's right". The Olunloyo Community under onaaraTODAYforum is sending a delegate to participate in tomorrow exercise at Mokola.
