Monetizing Your Website – UWP EP 4

There are multiple ways to monetize your website. The most common are affiliate marketing, advertising, and selling your own product. In UWP Podcast EP 4, I tell you about all three of these ways, and which way you should consider.

The three main ways to make money off of your website is to:

– Advertise through services like AdSense, Media.net, or Chitika

– Affiliate marketing through services like Amazon Affiliates or Clickbank

– Sell your own product, like an eBook for example.

Monetizing your website through Google Adsense is easy!

Advertising on Your Website

When advertising, some terms to know are:

– Impression: An impression on an advertisement is when someone scrolls to the spot on the page the ad is at. This doesn’t pay (maybe chump change), as you need to get people to click on those ads.

– PPC: PPC stands for pay per click, and pay per click is what you get paid for. Advertisers pay to have their ads on your website, but they require people to click on their ads for you to get paid.

– CTR: CTR stands for click through rate, and click through rate is the amount of clicks you get divided by the amount of impressions you have. The higher click through rate you have the better, and there are ways to improve your click through rate.

Amazon is the leader in affiliate marketing, and a great option for monetizing your website.

Affiliate Marketing on Your Website

When affiliate marketing, things to consider are:

– The % Commission you receive on sales of the product.

– The trustworthiness of the product. (There is a particular equillibrium point you want to find between this and the commission.)

– The value of the product to your readers. (In other words, market your readers something relevant to them.)

Perhaps the most consistent option for monetizing your website, selling your own product isn’t as hard as you think!

Selling Your Own Product on Your Website

When selling your own product, things to consider are:

– Which eCommerce supporting theme is right for you.

– How you are going to market your product.

– If your product is going to be your main focus for income from your website.

– If you want to add affiliate marketing or advertising to compliment the income from your product or not.
