There was a discount movie theater in my town growing up that offered movies for $5.  I went once with my older brother once to watch Starship Troopers.  At the end my brother’s friend Jason said, “I don’t care about the money, I want those 2 hours of my life back!”  It left an impression on me that our time is precious.

Our productivity is important because our time is valuable.  

Our subconscious works to automate life’s processes which is both helpful and detrimental.  Helpful in allowing us to drive and have a conversation.  Detrimental in drawing us to past behaviors that hinder future progress.

What we need is a simple system or framework of thought to understand our valuable time and how we use it.  Today I draw upon two familiar areas of life to introduce you to this framework.  In the same way that we think about food and finances we can use to improve our productivity.
