On this episode Ariel talks abouthow to manage stress, this episode is especially if you’re in a giving profession like massage or psychotherapy, or a mum or entrepreneur, or if you feel your stress levels are too high generally.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • In caregiving professions were dealing with a lot of other peoples’ stress as well as our own stress, so it’s easy to get stressed out. If we’re not careful burnout could be around the corner & burnout could end your career. So, we’re going to have to do something about it.
  • Short term stress is something the body can handle. The nervous system’s response is to send cortizols into the bloodstream and the body sends extra glucose to the brain, making our muscles strong, inhibiting digestion & sending blood to the skeletal muscle so that we can respond quickly.
  • There’s positive and negative stress. Positive stress has to do with growth. When we experience something new that challenges us or forces us to change our behaviour, we experience stress – like being in a new job or class. Negative stress can be debilitating, high stress levels in the adrenal glands can cause them to increase cortizol levels which, over an extended period of time may cause all sorts of health challenges.
  • Exercise, hang out with friends, go on vacation, take a spa day, go to a museaum, festival or concert, take a guided visualisation, practice yoga or thai chi, do some deep breathing. All of thes activities will releive stress. Sometimes I like to go out & hug a tree, trees have a vibrational frequency that’s in alignment with our brains when we are in meditation.

BEST MOMENTS

“Our bodies were never meant to carry lots of cortizol over an extended period of time, our tissues can’t have cortizol in them all the time without experiencing negative effects.”
“When was the last time you did something fun for yourself that you enjoy? Everybody needs rewards, we give our kids & clients rewards.”
“Everyone needs a balance of yin & yang in their lives.”
“If you listen to your cells, the rewards are great.”
