This podcast should be a slam-dunk: it pairs fantastic actors with fantastic short stories. In practice, it fell short for me, and I couldn't quite say why. To my ears, all the emphasis is put on providing an entertaining experience for the audience, and not bringing out the genius in the story. I unsubscribed after getting partway through Johnny Simmons reading "Proxy Marriage" by Maile Meloy. I had experienced this story as a beautiful, delicate, almost exquisitely painful description of how it feels to step into the most solemn aspects adulthood when you are a teenager. Simmons read it as an all-out comedy, complete with pausing for audience laughter. It was awful. Also, I hate it when a podcast deletes the older episodes from its feed.
