I had a blast listening to the first season of the anime-inspired comedy/parody Xeno Realms: Sky Brother Force. Dash Ajitama is a brash arrogant cadet in the Sky Brother Force, a military force that fights the tyrannical alien Citizen Scorn using mythical Space Beasts that engage in duels for you. Space Beasts, gotta catch them all. Dash, as the owner of the prophecy amulet and the son of the Sky Brother Force's highest ranking military officer, Professor General Ajitama, knows that he is destined to fulfill the prophecy that he will defeat Citizen Scorn. Even though he'd rather be pursuing a career as a pop star. The last detail cracked me up so much because yes, where else would you find this combination of "this detail will surely add to the awesomeness of this character, right?" thrown together in a blender than in anime? Or the obsession of characters with father figures and/or the lack thereof. Xeno Realms knows exactly what material it is parodying and it does so with a heart brimming with affection, in between handing out hilarious murders to Dash's various family members.
