Sona Movsesian co-hosts the podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend (2018), with Conan O’Brien. She is also O’Brien’s personal assistant and has appeared many times on the television series, Conan.Talin “Sona” Movsesian co-hosts the podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend with Conan O’Brien. O’Brien felt he lacked a deeper connection with his celebrity guests, so he decided to create the long-form comedy interview podcast as a way to get to know them in a more casual setting. In the pilot episode of the podcast, O’Brien and Ferrell reminisce about their favorite Late Night sketches, such as the time that Will Ferrell practiced his standup, while Will Ferrell with a mustache heckled himself from the audience. One of the best episodes of the podcast, as voted by Podchaser users, is episode 15, a conversation with Jurassic Park (1997) actor Jeff Goldblum. O’Brien introduces Sona Movsesian and producer Matt Gourley as his “handlers” for the episode, and asks them to pull him back from the deep end if he gets too excited. While O’Brien leads the interviews with occasional commentary from Movsesian and Gourley, O’Brien, Movsesian, and Gourley close each episode by riffing off one another. Before working with Conan O’Brien, Sona Movsesian interned at NBC as a page, and was soon promoted to Events and Operations Coordinator. Movsesian left NBC, and began working off camera for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Her debut on the show was in a bit where OʻBrien helped her search the office for her American Gigolo’s mug. Conan O’Brien was impressed with her humor and bubbly personality. He immediately dubbed her his executive assistant, a position which she has held faithfully for a decade. The two began a close friendship that has been showcased on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and in their podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. They have been known to prank each other, such as when O’Brien insisted on buying her a new car, but surprised her by bringing a dusty clunker on stage. In 2015, Sona Movsesian and Conan O’Brien traveled to Armenia for a special broadcast of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. The pair was asked by Movsesian’s grandmother to meet with an Armenian matchmaker to find a husband for Movsesian. While Sona Movsesian and Conan O’Brien did visit the matchmaker, Movsesian needed no help finding her happily ever after. Sona Movsesian recently married her husband, Tak, in a 2018 wedding that celebrated their Armenian heritage. In addition to assisting Conan O’Brien on The Late Night Show With Conan O’Brien, Sona Movsesian also supports O’Brien in Conan (2010) and the documentary, Conan Can’t Stop (2011). Sona Movsesian appeared on the Back to the Best and Hollywood Handout podcasts. | Guest | |
