2:02

your finger above that. Oh, so I'm definitely higher

2:04

than that look. Yeah, you're rocking a chin strap

2:06

right now. Oh, so is that

2:08

not good? Different style beard.

2:11

Just the chin strap. The Adam's that

2:13

doesn't sound good. The Adam's Apple such a funny,

2:17

just phenomenon we have with our bodies

2:19

like you grow obviously our voice changes. I've

2:21

been growing mine for a while. That

2:23

your Adam's Apple continues to grow Adam's

2:25

Apple workout. Can

2:27

you move yours? Like can you show us

2:29

some of those workouts? But like we as

2:31

boys, when our voice changes, does that mean

2:33

our Adam's Apple has formed or do we

2:35

not have Adam's Apple's pre

2:38

puberty? I don't know.

2:41

I don't know if that's like a thing that just grows. Like I

2:43

don't, I don't think you see Adam's apples

2:45

on little boys. I guess you'd really notice

2:47

it if they had them freaky. We have

2:50

this thing in our throat that just grows

2:52

out and makes this like more resident voice

2:54

box. You should do like an Adam's Apple

2:56

party like stops with her, like a lacing

2:58

surgery. It's like just boys. Just

3:00

whenever you see Adam's Apple, you just

3:03

throw a giant party. Some people, some

3:05

people got some crazy, like a sharp

3:07

angle. Yeah. It just just

3:09

felt like a, like it's a third beak

3:11

on them. Yeah. Pretty wild. See like, yeah,

3:14

the shadow down. My

3:16

mom, hers is just sharp. Huh? Your

3:18

mom has just so large like mama.

3:20

How were you guys late bloomers with

3:23

your voice changing or were you like

3:25

early on in your friend group late

3:27

one? Do you even remember it? I

3:29

feel like it just happened overnight. I

3:32

don't remember like the whole puberty process.

3:34

I have no idea. I think, I

3:36

think honestly by fifth grade, that's pretty

3:38

deep. I still feel like I

3:40

have a kind of high voice. Uh,

3:43

yeah, my voice isn't like, Hey,

3:45

what's going on guys? I don't notice how deep

3:47

my voice is until somebody mimics me. Then

3:49

I'm like, like Jason will always mimic, like

3:51

mock me and he'll just go way deep.

3:54

And I'm like, is that really how I

3:56

sound? And everyone's just like, yeah, I think

3:58

I'm pretty deep voice. very deep

4:00

voice I can get high

4:02

pitch like this I can get high

4:05

pitch I think that's

4:09

what I think there's there's got to be a

4:11

reason why I lose my voice

4:13

I think people that have deep voices they

4:15

lose their voice really quickly yeah I guess

4:18

so probably you got something for you

4:20

seems hard very hard I think

4:23

it's not I'm using a lot of muscle also

4:25

I think you lose your voice because you have

4:28

really bad hearing I realize

4:30

because you talk at yes

4:32

your voice is deeper but you also talk

4:35

so loud I just

4:37

can't can't control it I can't control

4:39

it the church that loses her voice all the time

4:41

but it's because she sings too hard

4:43

like if she's going well Trisha does have a

4:45

deeper voice so then I'm not a woman oh

4:47

yeah patrol yeah I think I think I have

4:50

the idea that has to do with that mm-hmm

4:52

alright there's another friend that I know that a

4:54

really deep voice she would lose your voice

4:56

all the time do you think

4:59

if you were a singer would you

5:01

be a bass or a tenor oh

5:03

I'd be bass bass down here you

5:07

can hit a high a of a

5:09

what I can't you know I seen

5:11

I can't seen her thing she can

5:14

hit a a of a high C

5:16

yeah not many people can do that

5:18

yes that quote in a while

I can't do I can't do high-pitched I

can do high velocity

in this compound where there's like a ton of

houses they all look exactly the same but they're

just like lay out a little different it's like

weird but no it's uh they just put

8:55

us in the compound this year they were

8:58

pushing out their guest jeans line so they

9:00

we got to go to the factory we

9:02

got to see how they make their new

jeans that was really cool in the guest

in this warehouse set

9:32

up but they're not real just for

the staff just so people who are looking to

put guests into their stores what they want to

look what yeah after we passed that we got

photo shoots for like their campaigns that we

it's mad. It is. They would just

I feel like it could be a whole reality TV

guys got a new house this year Was

12:27

it the same one you have been seeing

the same builders right so the old

compound was like 30 minutes away Okay,

12:34

this is a completely different compound with like more

12:36

houses in it, but they're identical right

12:38

Yeah, so it felt like the same vibe, but

12:40

just a different location Okay, cool now when you

12:42

guys get there are the rooms already assigned or

12:44

do you guys got a claim? Oh sprint like

12:47

when Jersey Shore gets to a new house You

12:49

have to clean your rooms this rooms already set

12:51

up for us like you have their name on

12:53

the thing So you walk in knowing that you

12:55

have a room already? You're just hoping that you

12:57

have a room that's like close to the kitchen

12:59

like me personally I love my room close to

13:01

the kids right or you kind of don't want

13:03

to be like too close to the backyard by

13:05

the pool Cuz if people are partying like too

13:07

late if you want to sleep. Yeah, I just I just

13:09

love convenience But my room

13:12

was was the furthest away from the kitchen

13:15

Still happy though, but it was it was far

13:17

from the kitchen and then but yeah house was

13:19

really nice ever We were all taken care of

13:21

in that house. We were really happy Be

13:24

a great weekend Then we yeah,

13:26

we do the the welcome dinner. We see

13:45

and it sets the alarm off in the

13:48

middle of like The happy birthday speech thing.

13:50

It was like perfect timing it ended up being They

14:02

made me, they made me make that whole street. They

14:04

were like, hey Zane. I saw that too. I was

14:06

like Zane's up there. They bring me

14:08

up there like hey Zane can you come here real

14:11

quick. First I thought I was in big trouble right?

14:13

Big trouble. So I had a few

14:15

glasses of wine right? You voted off the island.

had a few glasses of wine. I'm you know, you

14:22

know how I get, I'm just always like

then I'm talking to Heath Baraya

14:38

She comes up right here. She's like more

oh oh oh oh oh and then genuinely

it was out of nowhere. And

14:46

I, my hand went like this. Oh my, you scared me

14:48

but my hand went up like this. I went up like

14:51

over here and I tapped and then I went back right?

14:53

And then that was it. That's all, that was all in my head.

14:55

And then Heath and Baraya are both looking at each other and they're

14:58

like Zane, she's really upset.

15:00

And I was like ha ha

15:03

okay and they're like no Zane, she's really

15:05

upset. You need to say something. And

15:08

I look back and she's walking away and I'm like oh

15:10

wait. She didn't like the whole top thing.

15:13

She's like yeah no Zane. That was not

15:15

good. Her face almost

15:17

feels like a don't touch

15:19

15:22

I think Zane learned a lesson

15:25

with people's personal face. Personal boundary.

15:27

You can't even touch people's faces.

15:30

You know what and I did apologize

15:33

but I remembered she, I

15:35

looked at, I kept looking

15:37

at her the whole night because I was like oh I'm

15:39

going to be kicked out. That's it. There

15:41

goes my weekend. And then the guest staff goes

15:43

hey Zane can you come here for a second?

15:46

And I look at him and I'm like fuck!

15:48

This is it. That's it. Pack

15:50

your bags. I still have these to believe

15:52

in. And then they

15:55

bring me up and they're like Zane

15:58

we really would like for you to make Speech.

16:02

And I'm like, huh? Public

16:05

apology. Speech. We

16:08

have a few birthdays today. We want you

16:10

to introduce and enter the dinner. Lovely

16:13

to have everybody here. And then

16:15

we're going to bring out the cake. And I'm

16:17

like, that's not cool.

16:19

That's not fair. Yeah. Out

16:22

of everybody. Out of everybody. Who's idea

16:24

was you, even though I love that they considered

16:26

you to be the spokesperson of the event? It

16:29

was Drew. She's like, she's the head

16:31

of like the whole campaign for

16:33

this. And we're friends. I

16:35

think she just thought it would be hilarious

16:39

to have me do the speech. I

16:42

didn't think it was. And then they

16:44

had me go behind the DJ booth. And

16:46

then I remember I turned around. I turned around

16:48

these other little parties you got to go to. And

17:52

then you're already in a great location next to

17:54

the festival, but it's like, no, there's a big

17:56

party, but it's in Palm Springs. I try to

17:58

say no to the extracurriculars. stuff. Just

18:01

because it is

18:03

a mission and the traffic there is terrible. And

18:06

then we walk in and immediately,

18:08

well first of all, all the

18:10

staff was so friendly. Like

18:13

usually, I feel like they're kind of like

18:16

more uptight, a little standoffish, but

18:19

we walked in and everybody, hi, how's

18:21

it going? Thanks for coming, good to see you.

18:23

We're like, whoa, okay. We

18:25

go through the whole checkpoint thing, like the

18:27

bag, jazz. We're also noticing that it's really

18:29

easy to get in. No line, normally at

18:31

5pm, even at

18:35

5pm on a day festival, there's

18:37

a bit of a line. And then there's ID

18:39

check, all of that. There's a lot. So we

18:41

get through immediately and there is no ID check

18:43

at the end. Like you know where you'd normally

18:45

go sit in line to give your... You get

18:47

that Heineken wristband. It's shut down, so we're like,

18:49

oh, this is so weird. And

18:52

we walk in, there's nobody around us.

18:56

Finally make it through the entrance and

18:59

you know that whole like open area, like the

19:01

VIP, where it's like the bars and the main

19:03

area, whatever. As you walk in, you see everybody

19:05

you know. It's like the cafeteria launch. Empty.

19:09

What? This is 5pm. Matt,

19:11

we couldn't believe it. They won getting in

19:13

tonight, nobody there. If

19:16

Coachella, like the previous years were running at like 100% capacity,

19:19

this I would say was like 30. No, I would

19:21

say like maybe 50, 60. I

19:25

don't think so, man. Now, why do you think

19:27

that is? Is it because of the lineup? I

19:29

think it was the lineup. Or is it has

19:31

Coachella reached this kind of point where our generation

19:33

that used to be like the full front like...

19:36

No, I think it's generally the lineup. The lineup, nobody...

19:38

Yeah, that's true. The lines like at the bar, you

19:40

know how you have to like sit there for like

19:42

45 minutes to get a drink? Never had

19:44

to be in line. No, the cashiers were open. It was

19:46

open the whole night. You could walk up and just get

19:48

a drink at the end. You were at most waiting for

19:50

one person in front of you. That was the most you were waiting

19:53

on. Every time at Coachella, I

19:55

would have to buy like two beers at once because

19:57

I didn't want to go back in line. Because you

19:59

couldn't squeeze through people to get there. You would beg

20:01

a friend if you were already down in the crowd

20:03

being like can you please just get me mad? Yeah,

20:05

you can go to GA main stage in the crowd

20:07

go back for a drink and make it back in

20:09

like five minutes Wow, you could walk like if you

20:12

were to walk out and just be lying it straight

20:14

to another stage Okay, you

20:16

would not have to move for anybody.

20:18

I even heard like the camping situation

20:20

was like half capacity as well They're

20:22

really nice. There were very many empty

20:24

lots in the camping zone as well.

20:26

Yeah, that also goes I think it

20:28

was the lineup. Yeah, it was hopefully they're not

20:30

in a tank, right? I

20:32

the thing is that I was talking a lot of people

20:34

about it and everybody kept saying that there's this there's like

20:36

a There's there's strict rules

20:38

when it comes to Coachella like people performing at

20:40

Coachella There's that on the contract that states that

20:42

you can't do anything Outside

20:45

of Coachella and it's for like

20:47

that year. It's a weird I don't know exactly what the

20:49

rule is because I'm sure you can't look it up. It's

20:51

like I feel like specific for each artist,

20:54

but It comes with

20:56

like rules whenever you do sign up for Coachella So a lot

20:58

of people a lot of artists probably didn't want to perform

21:01

at Coachella because look at Lollapalooza Beth

21:04

have you seen the lineup this year? No, I have one

21:06

I've ever seen Two

21:09

months. Why are any of those people performing at

21:11

Coachella? Ah, you know what

21:13

I mean? I wonder if some artists like

21:16

kind of ruined it for other people Maybe

21:18

they have had to like make their contracts

21:20

tighter with their artists I think I heard

21:22

something that like you're not allowed to play

21:24

other shows for the year leading up to

21:26

Coachella in like California or something like that

21:29

that way they have the exclusivity to make

21:31

people Want to go to Coachella

21:33

to see that huge performer? Ah,

21:35

you know what I mean? Like you can do other like

21:37

states and stuff But like I think they own in

21:40

their contract the rights for you to not be

21:42

able to perform in California or like So Cal

21:44

area whatever the total PR publicity reason like up

21:46

like a year leading up to it or something

21:49

like that Strange before

21:51

we continue. We want to give a big. Thank

21:53

you to our next sponsor of this podcast mood,

21:55

baby There is so many different ways to enjoy

21:57

your day on 420. Like what are your favorite?

21:59

favorite things to do on 420. I know I

22:02

like to watch movies, I like to go to

22:04

my favorite places and eat, I like to have

22:06

the munchies, snack a little bit. You see there

22:08

isn't just one way to celebrate 420 and

22:24

promo code UNFILTERED at hellomood.com. I personally

22:26

love the gummies because I can nibble

22:28

off a little bit of the corner

22:30

so I don't get a little too crazy. I

22:32

can pace myself out, you know like a quarter

22:34

of it, maybe a half if I'm feeling a

22:36

little crazy. I know Heath and I love to

22:38

do the gummies when we're doing our high episodes

22:40

on the Patreon so that's a lot of fun.

22:42

I personally love to have gummies too. Right

22:44

before I go to sleep it actually gives me

22:47

a better sleep. I love it, it gives me

22:49

a good night rest. I feel like I'm sleeping

22:51

through the whole thing and honestly I'm not going

22:53

to lie my dreams are pretty lit when I

22:56

do the gummies before. And Mood is also introducing

22:58

the THC-A flour. It's Mood's latest and most

23:00

potent breakthrough in the world of legal cannabis.

23:02

When you use Heat THC-A it

23:04

changes into THC and that's what causes the

23:06

classic high feeling. And Mood has 10 high

23:09

inducing strains that most potent they've ever

23:11

offered. And Mood puts an end to

23:14

the guessing games with federally legal forms

23:16

of THC extracted from hemp plants. All

23:18

of their products are regularly tested in

23:21

third party labs. Also sourced from small

23:23

family farms and pesticide free, very important.

23:25

Something for every mood. Tested and tailored

23:28

by in-house experts. And there's also different

23:30

strains for specific moods from euphoric to

23:32

energized, creative to chill. And plenty of

23:34

versatile products that go with whatever mood

23:37

you're going for. And there's completely different

23:39

ways to enjoy however you like to

23:41

take THC Mood has you

23:43

covered. It's great for beginners and veteran users.

23:45

They're great tasting gummies, classic flour,

23:47

convenient pre-rolls and so much more. So make sure

23:50

23:52

23:58

24:00

24:02

mood.com with code unfiltered. Thank you

24:05

so much Mood for sponsoring this

24:07

podcast. We love you. So we

24:09

get in whatever, we

24:12

kind of just like hang out and are

24:15

basically just waiting for like Lana to come on. And-

24:18

So you're not moving to any other stages to

24:20

catch anything else? You just camping out? No, we

24:23

just didn't care to. Yeah, I don't blame you.

24:25

It was nice because normally you

24:28

like bump into friends like here or there. And

24:30

it's like impossible to like find them again, whatever. It

24:33

was so open that you just saw different groups of

24:35

people. Like you could just go like this and look

24:37

around and be like, those are my friends.

24:39

Yeah. Those are my friends.

24:41

How was the cell phone signal this

24:43

year? Dude, full service. The whole time?

24:45

The whole time. You could have FaceTimed

24:48

perfectly. From Sahara stage to the new

24:50

lab. And you could hear them. Whoa.

24:52

It was insane. Because that's the worst thing

24:54

is when you get to Coachella is that

24:56

good luck if you get separated. It

24:59

was so chill. We'd be calling each other like, hey, what's up? Hey,

25:01

yeah, where are you? Cool, cool, cool. Okay. Like

25:04

no screaming, nothing. Then I wonder if that's

25:06

because of like the density of if there's

25:08

too many cellular devices, it chunks up

25:10

like the service. Because I don't think

25:12

they built another cell tower out there.

25:14

But no. Oh, wow. It

25:16

was working. The cell tower was happy this

25:18

year. For sure. I

25:21

don't want to go is just because there's

25:23

bands I want to see. But if I

25:25

get separated, I can't find anyone. I can't wait

25:28

to see how it is a week and two. That

25:30

it's gonna be so empty. Oh. Because

25:33

week two is always like a little less crowded. Yeah.

25:36

That one will be really interesting. But

25:38

Doja Cat was a great performance. Was

25:40

it? Yeah. I didn't see it, but I saw, I

25:43

saw clips the next day and

25:45

she did really good. How was Lana? She was

25:47

really good. She was good. I only got to

25:50

see like the first like three songs though. Okay.

25:52

I mean, what you left? We just had, yeah,

25:54

we left. We had like one shuttle. And

25:57

it was like, if people wanted to leave, you're like,

25:59

okay, we have. have to go. Oh, okay.

26:02

And otherwise they would take the shuttle and then you'd have to

26:04

try to like... Did you get to see when she brought up

26:06

Billy? Or was that later? No,

26:08

we got him right before that. I

26:11

was just so livid that Vampire Weekend got

26:14

announced as a last minute

26:16

performer for Weekend 1. Oh,

26:18

really? Yeah. I was

26:20

like, right there when we get into Soul, I

26:22

pull out my phone and it's like Vampire Weekend

26:24

goes, Vampire Weekend 1 in parentheses.

26:26

And I go, you have to be kidding

26:28

me. When did they play? I

26:31

don't know. I think it was Saturday.

26:33

They brought out Paris Hilton. They brought

26:35

out Abraham Lincoln. What? Abe Lincoln? They

26:38

brought out like the most realistic Abe Lincoln

26:40

impersonator. And why? Which is fun, I guess.

26:42

I think they did it for their song

26:44

Gold Rush. I haven't watched the performances because you

26:46

know when there's like, it's your favorite artist and they

26:48

do something really cool and it was something that you

26:50

could have been at, you're like, I

26:52

need to wait a little bit to watch it

26:54

because I just didn't want the FOMO to hit

26:57

me that hard. I just couldn't believe I didn't

26:59

go to the Eclipse show for Vampire Weekend, told

27:01

myself I'm not going to Coachella, I'd rather go

27:03

to South Korea and then find out my favorite

27:05

band is performing at Coachella. I still got tickets

27:07

for them in June at Hollywood Bowl. I

27:10

think they had to fill up like some artists

27:12

for sure. I think it was like at the last minute,

27:15

they were like, we need to sell more tickets. So

27:18

that's night one. Do you guys go to any after parties

27:20

after night one? Or do you just go back

27:22

to the compound party? I think we had an

27:24

after party at the compound. The

27:27

celebs come to Timothy Chalamet. Guess

27:30

who? Actor? Yeah. Actor?

27:33

Yeah. Actor. Jacob

27:36

Elordi? Mm-mm. The

27:38

Sprouse? I don't know

27:40

who you're talking about. Zach,

27:42

Robert Pattinson. Whoa! Okasuki

27:44

Waterhouse was performing. His wife, they just

27:46

had a baby. Man, I can't believe,

27:48

I swear she just had a baby

27:50

like a week ago and that's performing

27:53

at Coachella. Oh, wow. Is it just me or

27:55

does he kind of look like Harry Potter? He

27:57

is in Harry Potter. Yeah. that's

28:00

your diggery right he's the

28:02

one that like what's not in Pattinson's

28:04

in Harry yeah he dies in the

28:06

Goblin fires sorry spoiler no no not

28:08

goblet fire prison the second movie he

28:11

dies in the goblin of fire dirty try

28:13

wizard tournament but he actually looks like

28:15

Harry Potter he dies at the try

28:18

wizard tournament the band anyways but yes

28:20

I but yes Robert Pattinson was there

28:22

who else came through Leo

28:24

de cap Leonardo Emma Robertson

28:27

I mean no Robert Leo DiCaprio wearing

28:29

like a mask and everything or like

28:31

was he a little bit more out

28:33

in the masquerade mask what

28:35

he really like I is wide shut

28:37

yeah and like a like a gown

28:39

it's crazy that he loves doing

28:42

that if I was that famous I'm kidding

28:44

he wasn't oh okay really

28:46

creepy though Justin and Haley oh

28:49

yes Ricky T he

28:53

was he was funny this weekend he

28:55

went up he went up

28:57

to Heath and I at the festival he was

28:59

just gone right oh my gosh this is so

29:02

this is like the quote of

29:06

our trip he

29:09

goes up to me he puts his hand

29:11

on my back and just good right he

29:16

looks at then he goes you looks at me he

29:18

goes you and you at

29:21

the same damn time

29:27

dude he is so funny that's great

29:30

it's so funny cuz he looks so intimidating in his like

29:33

Instagram pictures but then when he when

29:35

you see him in person he's just like a like

29:37

a bad

29:39

way but literally like a fairy just

29:43

a fairy just

29:45

like branched it

29:47

around just like

29:49

okay so Robert Pattinson all the they

29:52

show up at the guest compound are they

29:54

talking with you guys like you're you influence

29:56

no no We're not even like words,

29:58

which is with our friends. A

30:00

different table so they can take the like a

30:02

club scenario. Guys that like to have like tables

30:04

set up at. The. Backyard with Neon

30:06

Carnival the think this year yes the authors

30:09

you guys go yacht a day. I think

30:11

the crime was better than the the possible.

30:13

Also not is packed as usual. Be

30:15

been shut down Alcohol service at all Data had

30:17

to a know that Wagner had to. That's when

30:19

I get ruined so when I know but are

30:21

they keep it open for like five out it.

30:24

Was the so this is very not. Last

30:27

are also expecting people to have like their

30:29

own. Alcohol and said on

30:31

the another probably like a loveless keep

30:33

it open till five years Yeah, why

30:35

not? Busta rhymes. Get. All are

30:37

so now I left early. It was

30:40

really. It. Was really good

30:42

to on. Z. There when

30:44

it was that empty. Know. If felt like

30:46

it just felt good a pretty the be no

30:49

stress Not once did we all like hold our

30:51

heads to walk out us off as nice as

30:53

is. Nice seed on. I heard that there was

30:55

a bit of like our phones be a they're

30:58

always there's one way of lawyer iger your life

31:00

where Elisa lost her blog camera yeah I did

31:02

he gets Nasser to spell out of a purse

31:04

sir I don't know said I feel I feel

31:07

like a lease over just left it somewhere towards

31:09

the way I see was I going to run

31:11

or another doing stood as you do in her

31:13

with it you know it videos like it's really

31:16

drunk her. Her currently sit

31:18

together Lethal Combo is lethal.

31:21

Or to. Have it on

31:24

one because you have your first K

31:26

Pop performance which man looks Serafin less

31:28

Sarah Smother Thera Fim yeah Fearless around

31:30

the are going anywhere it's I'm fairly.

31:32

Watch out watch an artist we have

31:34

seen up close and personal bad as

31:36

they can to ensure that every day

31:39

to that end or two. Dead omer

31:41

I didn't have a friend who was

31:43

dancing with the Embers. yeah i went to

31:45

see it i knew ramey was a fan and

31:47

i never listen to k pop before i know

31:49

i would like it because they also dance and

31:51

i was like hey like my friends are dancing

31:54

like if you go to art as i'll come

31:56

with the a when she was like you have

31:58

to com you're gonna love them It

32:00

took us like three seconds of watching them

32:02

to like I'm a super fan like suddenly

32:05

Yeah second so seeing my friends up there

32:07

was insane I was getting cool pictures of

32:09

them, but watching these girls like dance

32:11

and sing to that like extent is

32:14

Unbelievable they are so entertaining to make

32:16

it they should do the Super Bowl That

32:21

would be just really really good one

32:23

Yeah, it reminds me of like what

32:25

like our like early 2000s pop

32:28

used to be mmm Yeah, it's very

32:30

backstreet boy like yeah full dancing they

32:32

celebrate like each member like every member

32:34

has their own like kind of moment

32:39

Like the step out they kind of get you know

32:42

I was torn because there's there's

32:44

rumors about kpop groups and how

32:46

like abusive the practices right? Yeah I've

32:48

heard that they really have really Have a

32:50

full life and time to it when you're

32:52

watching them you can tell The

32:55

amount of fucking stress they're probably

32:57

put through yeah team on autopilot

32:59

just very like robotic But

33:01

it was really fun. I don't know the main

33:03

girl. I guess is from New York cuz I was like I

33:07

don't know who the main person is but I asked

33:10

Remy I was like is she American and she was like

33:12

yeah She's from New York so it was like a cool

33:14

dynamic and like seeing the other girls like

33:16

speaking English It was just like fun someone

33:18

was telling me that they're like trained from

33:20

from when they're a little like they're they

33:22

don't make it That big for years. They're

33:25

like a years of training and getting being

33:27

perfected. There was somebody was telling me that

33:29

one of them Someone

33:31

in one of the kpop groups they got kicked

33:34

off after a month, right? They worked their

33:36

way all the way up They finally became

33:38

they were part of a big kpop band

33:40

She got cut in a month because they

33:43

they found out she was bullying a girl

33:45

back in like school. Oh Like

33:48

it's back cut throat cut throat, which

33:50

is so crazy to me you memorize

33:52

all the movie You just go in this side like

33:54

the girl who goes to Disney Have you seen the

33:56

girl who just wants to be a Disney dancer so

33:58

she goes to Disney every day? And when

34:00

the dancers come out she just does the whole

34:02

routine with them and they're like the dancers are

34:05

like we gotta hire this girl All right, you

34:07

finally get your big gig next year for Coachella,

34:09

but nobody's there I know that was like

34:11

when we first started going to Coachella. I said

34:13

like I would love to be Performing

34:16

on stage so that everyone can come see

34:18

me and now it's like the new Woodstock.

34:20

I'm telling my kids about Coachella Yeah, I'm gonna

34:22

believe it. We're gonna next year. They're definitely they're

34:24

making that lineup change During the whatever rules we

34:26

have I think we need to cut it down

34:28

a bit next year is gonna make or break

34:30

it if it's bad Again, yeah, that's on it

34:32

really is that you don't come back next year

34:35

with like something insane and bring it back I

34:37

think it's gonna be I will say

34:39

Especially me and you we didn't mind

34:42

it because like we we were able

34:44

to get a pizza pie in like 30 seconds That

34:46

was you know, how long oh, it was

34:48

like enjoyable. You could like yeah, it was nice

34:50

We could hear each other. We didn't have to scream over

34:52

each other. Nobody in our group got crazy

34:55

Like normally everybody enjoyed themselves. Everyone can

34:57

find each other. We just communicate and we're like,

34:59

hey meet here in like 10 minutes. Perfect This

35:03

might even this might promote more people to come

35:05

next year because they see how

35:07

empty it is Yeah I mean because a lot of

35:09

people probably gets really stressed out like people that are

35:11

a car camping or J It's probably a nightmare to

35:13

try to get through like every set

35:16

like Sahara like going to Sahara so

35:18

far But like how empty it was

35:20

it was like real. It was a really nice walk last

35:22

year It took us like 45 minutes to get a $300

35:25

pizza and this year it only took like a minute

35:27

to get a $300 pizza $300

35:29

pizza is so expensive those prices

35:32

need to go down for the full pie

35:35

People are spending so I

35:39

don't know why they do that the tickets

35:41

already expensive. Yeah, make it like the Masters

35:43

or yes He fought the pie. It was

35:46

$80. Yeah, it was 80 bucks and then I went

35:48

back and got a nice tea 799

35:51

for an iced tea like in a cup from

35:55

a jug I Don't

35:57

know why they do that. I think other people

36:00

like posting like like chicken

36:02

tender prices and like your prices they really want

36:04

people to sneak in shit I guess

36:06

so and you know what I think people do I

36:08

think a lot of people sneak in those like those

36:11

it's like what's in your pocket what do

36:13

you got drugs no a protein bar oh

36:16

you could bring anything in your pockets now you could

36:18

bring food now everything I was but yeah they was

36:20

field pack of cigarettes though there

36:22

does the cigarette there was no cigarettes there was

36:24

no pat down there was nothing Wow you just

36:27

metal detector phone up right in your end where

36:29

I cut that out we don't coach others see

36:31

that we love the way they're doing it but

36:34

a lot of people don't put you know those

36:36

like inflatable flasks yeah I think I

36:39

think a lot of people like right here

36:41

in their junk tampon yeah shot your junk

36:43

is the best place to put anything cuz

36:45

they cannot touch you over there I had

36:49

the cigarettes along with some other

36:52

like substances in my I

36:54

put it like right there yeah I was deep

36:56

down the line I swear I was like 20 people

36:59

deep and I remember like I hit a joint

37:02

I was already a little high little paranoid just

37:04

adjusting my belt making sure everything is good before

37:06

I walk in and a

37:08

guy at the security goes what's

37:10

that and I'm like oh

37:12

I'm so far away that surely not

37:16

looking at me and I'm like he

37:18

goes you tall fella right there and

37:20

I go mean he goes come right here he

37:22

saw no way what what do you got going

37:24

on in there what I saw you to adjust

37:26

and I go it just he goes no I

37:28

could see there's something there what is it I'm

37:30

like it's just an open pack of cigarettes

37:32

and he's like 50 bucks

37:34

and this never happened no way gave

37:37

him 50 bucks and I walked in that

37:39

was like my boy that's inside hustle you

37:41

know that guy's just sitting there my

37:45

heart was pounding because I was so

37:47

far away yeah so high and I'm

37:49

like they had a good eye you

37:52

tall fella I'm learning

37:54

quickly that money takes care of

37:56

anything if

37:58

a cop stopped you speeding. I

38:01

am willing to bet you just pay that cop off

38:03

and you're good with that ticket. Yeah but that's they...

38:06

Not nowadays. Because they got body cam. Oh

38:08

shit. Yeah. But... Back in the day?

38:12

I would. I'd pay anything because just to have that

38:14

off your record is just so worth it. And

38:17

they would rather the 150 bucks goes to

38:19

them than you pay the fee. Exactly. But

38:22

sometimes that ticket is a lot.

38:24

He can see that ticket price like

38:26

you gotta give me more. That's what I

38:28

would do. Like you gotta pay more than this ticket for me

38:30

not to purchase it. And did she

38:32

see no doubt? Yeah. We did get

38:35

to see no doubt. What night did they perform? Is

38:37

it the last night? I think Saturday. Saturday. Yeah. Badass.

38:39

Mm-hmm. Was there in 10 years performing in the first

38:41

time in 10 years? She

38:44

was great. Yeah. I mean...

38:46

She brought out Livy Rodrigo. Did

38:49

she like... Was she like no doubt

38:51

Gwen Stefani or was she like the

38:53

voice Gwen Stefani? She was no doubt.

38:55

She got the rhinestones on her face

38:57

and yeah. I think she recreated the

38:59

last time she performed at Coachella. Oh

39:01

really? She recreated a moment that she

39:03

played with the audience. That's cool. Yeah.

39:05

Like I'm just a girl let's see

39:07

it. Just the boys. I'm just a

39:09

girl. It definitely felt like we stepped back

39:11

in time. Even like the visuals and stuff it

39:14

looked like. Remember the no doubt album? It was

39:16

all black and red. The whole thing was black

39:18

and red. How was the weather? Was it hot?

39:20

Was it fine? It was perfect. It was perfect

39:22

weather the whole weekend. It did get pretty chilly

39:24

at night. You definitely needed a jacket. That's the

39:26

worst when you're like it's so hot in the

39:28

day. You're like I don't need this. And then

39:30

you get there and you're just... But we would

39:32

go out like 5 p.m. every day so we

39:34

would come like prepared bundled up. It was nice.

39:36

Good transition. Yeah. Jay Balvin was unbelievable. His

39:39

set was... Oh yeah. It was like

39:41

alien themed. So sick. Sick. It was crazy

39:43

and he brought out Will Smith. It's

39:46

all light? Will Smith? He

39:48

came out and

39:50

did... Man I bet

39:52

he hit that. Yeah. I was waiting for that too.

39:54

I thought he was gonna do some like you know

39:56

fun little slap thing. He didn't. That

39:58

I mean probably wouldn't even get... Jiggy with it no

40:01

no I think was at the end of it Zane looks at

40:03

me he goes he should pull out that thing and like Flash

40:06

the odd ah that was and then not even

40:08

ten seconds later He pulled it up and then

40:10

all stage lights flashed it right when he pushed

40:13

the button Oh, and I was like dude you

40:15

called it as I should have filmed it Pretty

40:19

sick, but I missed it though. I

40:21

didn't see it right yeah, I was telling you guys

40:24

You just did it That

40:28

was really cool. It's all about the performance now.

40:30

It's not even the singing I heard a good

40:32

performance It's a good show most people were talking

40:34

about how it seemed more people talking about the

40:36

music this year than it has been like Talking

40:39

about all the activations or bad

40:41

brand deal events and all of that exactly

40:43

was really focused on the artists and who

40:45

they brought out Mm-hmm, that's dope But

40:48

like when it comes down to like juicy shit I'd

40:50

like there isn't much this year because there's not much

40:52

people there You know I mean would we go next

40:54

year was like empty like that. I think yeah, I

40:57

would yeah Oh the last day of

40:59

Coachella. I hit my one year Applause

41:06

to heat I did coach Ellis sober

41:08

was it hard no no

41:11

then easy. It's fine That's great. No weekend

41:13

was like pretty easy to

41:15

like Kind of

41:17

yeah, it wasn't over it wasn't bad at all wasn't easy

41:19

for me Also like it's crazy like

41:22

seeing people like the next day and just like

41:24

looking at them I'm like

41:26

it's crazy I don't feel like that right now

41:28

because normally I would have it makes you feel

41:30

really good when you see other people like Look

41:32

like that and you're like I when you see

41:34

other people in pain hurting tracking Wrong

41:37

yeah, I remember that feeling that past seven

41:40

months. Oh, God that's all good. It's insane.

41:42

Oh good. It's good, man Are

41:44

you gonna you're gonna get a coin? I

41:47

told all they should get a variety calling to go to

41:49

a meeting you can get them on Amazon You

41:51

know really buy a coin for yourself.

41:54

I don't know if that like is

41:56

disrespectful like to the AA community But

41:58

I even remember when David

42:00

Alvarez was like quitting nicotine. No I don't think

42:02

that has anything to do with the meetings. I

42:04

think if you, I think you get yourself a

42:06

coin. Yeah. I get a

42:08

coin. Badass man. Badass.

42:10

Zane was introducing me to Justin Bieber and I

42:12

was like please no. No

42:14

Zane was like a little drunk and Justin,

42:17

we were like in arms.

42:19

Where I like I got this, I was in one of his

42:21

music videos, I'll introduce you, I didn't even want to do it,

42:23

I was like I really don't want to do this. Do

42:26

you think he knows you're in the music video? If

42:29

I said hi to him, I've met him a couple

42:31

times so I feel like he would put

42:34

it together and be like oh yeah. Yeah yeah. I would

42:36

never say it. I was in the pop star, hey. Oh

42:39

I would. Oh yeah what were you doing? It's his date, I was

42:41

in the pop star video.

42:43

And he'd be like oh yeah man, yeah yeah.

42:45

And from where I imagine I go about like

42:47

as your mediums like hey you should definitely put

42:49

her in one of your videos. There's also nothing.

42:52

That's what I was afraid of. I was just

42:54

like not, it was not the moment

42:56

for it. So Friday night

42:58

there was the after party and the next morning

43:00

Zane, me and Heath didn't go. And

43:03

the after party is the house next door to us.

43:05

Where house seven, the after party was house six.

43:07

Okay, they're attached. And the next

43:09

morning Zane goes, Mariah you're gonna kill yourself. I

43:12

was like why? He was like Justin Bieber

43:14

was there. I was like no, he was like

43:16

Justin and Hailey were there. And I was like

43:18

damn it. I was like I'm not missing another

43:20

party. So then the

43:22

last night there was a party and Heath said

43:24

Justin Bieber is behind you and I was like

43:26

okay. I didn't think they'd go like twice. I

43:28

didn't believe him when I turned around and I

43:30

saw the tattoo and I was like and

43:33

Zane was like listen listen he's right next to my friend.

43:35

Like I can introduce you if you need to. Like we'll

43:37

just like we'll just window in. I'm like Zane it's okay

43:39

and you're like don't say I didn't try. Don't you think? Like

43:42

I didn't know how to explain to you. You

43:44

were being so nice. Boy I am confident when I'm wrong.

43:46

Yeah you were very confident. Oh my god. And I was like

43:48

this is not the environment. Like you don't want to

43:50

be that person to be like can I meet you?

43:52

Like that is just not the place for it.

43:54

It's also way too loud. Like music's bumping. You

43:57

can barely hear anything anyways and somebody you don't

43:59

really know. to introduce you to somebody

44:01

you don't know. They were dancing their asses

44:03

off. Like him and Haley were like, hey. Would

44:06

you want, then if you did meet him, just

44:08

like a dab up saying, hey, love your stuff, that's

44:10

it. You don't want like a full convo or do

44:12

you? If it happens to be a full

44:14

convo, that'd be great. I just know I'm not the

44:16

best conversationalist. I'd be like, hey Mariah, that's it. I'm

44:19

really bad at it too. I don't know how to think of anything. I'm

44:21

really bad. You have to talk, yeah. I'm

44:23

really bad. But those moments are the best

44:25

time to meet somebody though. Yeah.

44:27

Cause you're almost like on the same plane. You,

44:30

you pass all of these boundaries. You're not

44:32

that crazy of a fan where they're going

44:34

to be worried about you. But yeah, that

44:36

was our weekend. Dope. Before we continue, we

44:38

want to give a big thank you to

44:40

our next sponsor of this podcast, Built. You

44:42

45:52

Thank you so much, Built, for sponsoring

45:55

this podcast. Thank you for helping us

45:57

renters have a little bit of equity.

46:00

Lord have mercy baby. Dope. Sounds awesome. You

46:02

went to South Korea. I did. I skipped

46:04

out. I'm so excited to hear about it.

46:06

Alright, run me through the entire thing. Run

46:09

through the beginning. Um, so

46:11

we took the flight. It was like a

46:13

13 hour flight. Wasn't too bad. You know

46:15

we got the food on the flight. It

46:17

was alright. Chopsticks. It was alright. Chopsticks, they

46:20

gave you chopsticks. Nice. And you could have a plastic

46:22

fork as well. They gave you like some stir fry

46:24

and then I can't remember what the second was like

46:26

a... Shishito peppers? No, shishito

46:28

peppers. Shishito peppers are more

46:30

Japanese than they are Korean.

46:32

Shishito. Nice. But the flight

46:35

was like a breeze. Any crazy people on the flight?

46:37

Uh, no. No crazy people. Any crazy people. It

46:39

was a pure Korean flight. So all

46:41

the entertainment was in Korean. Thank gosh

46:44

I brought all my movies on my

46:46

iPad. What's wrong with Korean movies? Nothing

46:48

wrong with that but they only gave you just a limited

46:50

selection and I'd rather spend the time. I've been

46:53

watching Korean movies all leading up to this trip.

46:55

I just think it's nice to dive into their

46:57

culture. Patricia was watching some stuff. I didn't really

47:00

ask her what she was watching on the flight.

47:02

Yeah, right. And

47:04

we get there. We land. We take the

47:07

sub. We get to our hotel. We

47:09

stayed at a Japanese hotel called like the

47:11

Dormi Inn. And what

47:13

was cool about this Japanese hotel is that

47:15

they had an onsen, like a spa that

47:19

was accessible from 3pm till 10am

47:21

every day. Oh wow. So

47:23

like had a cold plunge, dry

47:25

sauna, silky bath and like a

47:28

silky bath is kind

47:30

of like these bigger tubs that

47:32

you get in. Oh, is it that? Yes, those

47:34

are the ones that this is the exact room

47:36

I went into. Oh, that's nice. And they have

47:39

almost these micro bubbles that they release into it

47:41

and they believe that like the micro bubbles like

47:43

the way it like passes your skin, it helps

47:45

clean you up even more. We

47:47

needed that. And this was the best was

47:50

3pm till 10am. So if we were out

47:52

till like 2am, we came home and we

47:54

went down there and just had our full

47:56

spa treatment to ourselves. You

47:59

said from 4pm to 10am. 3 no

48:01

3 p.m. Till 10 a.m. Oh, it's

48:03

open all throughout the night So are

48:05

they similar to Japanese culture where you

48:08

can't have tattoos or anything like that

48:10

in this pause? I really

48:12

I don't know about like the like what

48:14

do you call like a third party spot

48:16

staying at this hotel? There was nobody like

48:19

oh, but it was like a full naked

48:21

one You know we're always used to like

48:23

locker room culture even like in a steam

48:25

room or locker room though No

48:28

one was bringing in their towel co-ed No,

48:31

no men and women separate But it was

48:33

like a bunch of Japanese businessmen And I'm

48:35

just like at first I was like I

48:37

brought in a towel with me into it

48:39

just for modesty I realized everybody is naked

48:41

you you you were like the outcast so

48:43

you you felt like you had to walk

48:45

it around I felt like just like

48:48

a child it so did you just did you just

48:50

yeah? Oh dropped it drop full for you He was

48:52

the only one not wearing it so you don't want

48:54

to feel like Weirdly I realized

48:56

I'm the only one with a towel here, and

48:58

this looks a little weird so I went back to

49:00

my locker Wow, I would have gone home But

49:05

it was great it was awesome in the sauna

49:08

they had like a the golf channel like Teaching

49:10

you how to perfect your swing Everyone

49:18

is very quieted like civil in it and

49:20

that was just the best having access

49:22

to that It was so good high quality and they

49:24

had a free ramen bar from like 9 Every

49:27

night I only had it once but was it like

49:29

good ramen or was it like hotel? It was

49:31

like what it was me so ramen so because

49:33

it was at a Japanese hotel. It was good

49:35

ramen. Okay? Fantastic

49:38

service, so that was the hotel

49:40

situation Korea itself soul. I mean

49:43

South Korea It's

49:47

the best when you get to go to those

49:49

types of countries the same thing we experienced in

49:51

Tokyo Yeah, it's the civility and the cleanliness on

49:54

the subway was quiet people ever nobody

49:56

is talking part in Japan I I

50:00

felt like it was, well, Patricia and I, we really

50:02

figured out the transit system because when we were in

50:04

Tokyo, we mostly relied on the cabs just to get

50:06

around faster. I was able to

50:08

figure out how their subway system operated like

50:10

on my app and we were in and

50:12

out and following. And that's the best. The

50:15

best about international travel and getting abroad is

50:17

you're going to encounter stressful situations where you

50:19

have to pay attention to the signs, have

50:21

to figure it out. And

50:23

then it's such a grush when you do figure

50:25

it out. So like Patricia and I, we were

50:28

loving getting the hang of it and we were

50:30

in subs with, we were the only Americans, the

50:32

only white people in there. And

50:35

just their sense of order of lining up before you

50:37

get onto the sub, making sure there's an area for

50:40

the people to get off. You know, there's the

50:42

seats for the elder people. There's a seat for the

50:44

pregnant lady. Yeah, we don't follow any of that. We're

50:46

right in front of the gate knowing that people

50:48

need to leave. We're still in front of them. People

50:50

have to push. Yeah, yeah, crazy. And

50:53

the nightlife was a mate. I wrote

50:55

down like a whole bunch of different

50:57

observations that I made when I was

50:59

there. Oh wow, I'm realizing right now that where

51:01

I went to Karate, it was

51:03

a South Korean owned... Karate

51:06

spot. Because that

51:08

was the flag that was everywhere. Oh yeah. That was

51:10

on the back of our... Our

51:12

gurus, gurus. Your gi. Gi,

51:14

gi. It's on the back of

51:16

our gurus. Okay. Okay,

51:19

Karate kids. You know, it's on the

51:21

back of all our gurus. I

51:23

also felt like there was a big enthusiasm

51:26

for American culture when I was there, especially

51:28

the nightlife. A lot of the bars, I

51:30

felt like... You saw a lot of Irish

51:32

pubs. There were a lot of... Oh really?

51:34

These American themed places. You can go play

51:36

beer pong inside of them. I love that. It

51:38

was, I don't know, it was really American. There was

51:41

a lot of Irish pubs. Well, sorry. What

51:43

you see out here, you see a lot

51:45

of Irish pubs. That's what I meant. And

51:47

beer pong, a lot of American college themed

51:50

vibes I was getting when I was out

51:52

there. I did feel like when

51:54

I was watching your stories, it did feel like

51:57

it felt American in some way. Like I... Where

52:00

you're like who was that kid that you meet met up with uh?

52:04

Hi, June is I believe you to say is did

52:06

you know him or you met him for the first

52:08

time? My friend Diane he was awesome Oh, yes, we

52:10

met up with him earlier on in the trip Just

52:12

so he could have like shown us like how to

52:14

get around it was like we had our final dinner

52:16

with ya hi You yeah, that's how you say his

52:18

name. He was the best love that guy shout out

52:20

to him and shout out to Diane King For

52:23

setting it all up because he bought us baseball

52:25

tickets we went to a baseball The

52:28

baseball game that I saw that it felt like

52:30

you were your home So Matt I thought you

52:32

were home for a second when I saw that

52:34

oh, he's back No, no we would you a

52:37

Korean baseball game that you were so sick We

52:39

were at like there's this massive mall called the

52:41

Coet's mall It's like a mall you would go

52:43

see in Dubai all of America It's just massive

52:45

but I kept seeing all these people walking around

52:47

wearing like Korean baseball jerseys and I

52:49

was like are we close to

52:51

the baseball stadium because you always think

52:53

like the professional sports especially in America

52:55

It's such a schlep to get out

52:57

to ya where the venues are

53:00

especially in LA We can't take a subway like

53:02

down there right right But

53:04

so we get there and we don't have tickets I'm

53:06

reading on reddit how to get tickets guess how much

53:09

just like their standard baseball tickets are 50 bucks

53:12

10 bucks No, I bought

53:14

bucks Wow most of the seats There's

53:16

nothing that's hundreds and hundreds of dollars

53:18

unless you're in this like massive VIP

53:20

area So even massive VIP

53:22

area, what do you spend in 500 bucks?

53:25

Probably get a bleed. Yes, that's how the

53:27

difference in $10. That's crazy but but

53:31

I was reading on reddit like how to get tickets and

53:33

people say you just go up and buy the tickets at

53:35

the Stadium because the app that they have are heavily deep

53:37

in Korean you have to add your

53:39

credit cards It was very complicated we get there

53:41

and I walk up and just sold out. I'm

53:44

like what sold out And

53:46

we already have bought we there you we

53:48

have bought jerseys You and what's

53:50

cool there when you buy the jerseys they don't they

53:53

don't have them already like Etched

53:56

in of the certain players that you get you know how when you

53:58

go to like professional sports came

54:00

out here the last name but the jerseys

54:02

at a sports game are usually their top

54:04

like most selling players you only gave up

54:06

dogs at this place you buy almost like

54:08

a blank jersey and then you get to go

54:10

pick whatever player you want oh

54:13

so I thought 65 was like a common one

54:15

I want 65 and then I want like

54:17

35 and they were like 35

54:19

so-toe and I'm like yeah so-toe is that his

54:21

name can give me so-toe and he goes no

54:23

and then a guy goes he's saying sold out

54:26

to you oh yeah

54:30

it's like going hell yeah it's like the Kobe of the

54:33

team but he's like no man no I thought I was

54:35

getting the letters that looked the coolest like whatever letters like

54:37

look to kind of say I'd be like I want that

54:39

one I was like 17 and he

54:41

was like okay so I got 17 which

54:43

I think is like their backup pitcher but

54:46

you get to take their pat you get

54:48

to take their patches you get to go

54:50

they iron them on for you and

54:52

then but we still couldn't get tickets

54:54

and I was devastated because it was

54:56

basically like the LA Clippers versus the

54:58

Lakers the two home so it was

55:01

a big game it was a big game and I

55:03

was crushed crazy we

55:05

couldn't get tickets and that was like the most stressful

55:07

moment of the trip but we found out that they

55:09

had a game the next day and my

55:12

buddy was able to get us tickets okay wait they

55:14

had a game the next like the next day is

55:16

the same team the next day what

55:19

yeah I don't know that's a k-pop groups are

55:22

overworked baseball players over wow no

55:25

day to rest I

55:27

think like going to a concert or like

55:29

a game or something in another country I

55:31

think is like it should be done just

55:33

to see because that's where you see like

55:35

everybody all in one place all for the

55:37

same thing you get to bring in your

55:39

own beer get to bring in your own

55:41

snacks and they still sell snacks and beer

55:43

but I brought in like four tall boys

55:45

a beer chugging it they have these cheerleaders

55:47

on top of the dugouts that are they

55:49

have like one guy who's almost like the

55:51

MC and like four cheerleaders each team has

55:53

their own songs that are like renditions of

55:56

American songs yeah hear the harmonies and you're

55:58

like I think that's I want to hold

56:00

your hand but they're doing it to their

56:02

own team and all the crowds know the

56:04

songs and it's just

56:06

non-stop fun. And

56:09

we love doing that. Also I

56:12

went to see North Korea. Did

56:14

you really? Oh my god.

56:16

I haven't shared photos about it because I don't know

56:19

sometimes like because of the political climate of North Korea.

56:21

Wait, wait, you got like you went? Went

56:23

to the DMZ, went through the border, all

56:26

of that. So yeah, I

56:28

haven't shared photos from it because I just

56:30

don't, I don't know, worried about getting flagged

56:32

or whatever just because if it's North Korea,

56:34

Instagram and stuff can be like, I don't know. We

56:37

bought the tour, they picked us up at 8am. It

56:40

was an English speaking tour. They only

56:43

send in 50 tour buses a day

56:45

into the DMZ. And I

56:47

don't know if you know. Did Patricia go with you? Yeah, she

56:49

went with me. Because like she was on the fence and I'm

56:51

like, babe, I'm going to be telling this story for the rest

56:53

of my life. It's a thing that I've looked

56:55

into North Korea. I'd love for you

56:57

to be a part of that conversation. So get

57:00

on a bus and we're

57:02

excited. We're in a good mood. Early in the

57:04

morning, we've an English speaking woman

57:08

and she's telling us the whole

57:10

history about Korea, about North Korea,

57:12

how they were split, the

57:14

Korean War and everything, and even making jokes

57:16

about Kim Jong Un, calling him the big

57:18

fat chubby man. All of that

57:21

stuff. Felt pretty safe, but

57:23

then we're getting an hour

57:25

out, now we're getting just like 15 minutes

57:27

closer to the border and you're like, shit,

57:30

this is getting fucking real. And

57:33

we have to go through all these checkpoints.

57:35

And you know, you see them in apocalyptic

57:37

movies or in war movies, they set up

57:39

those barricades up in the

57:41

roads because you have to zigzag. Did you start

57:44

feeling nervous at this point? A little bit. A

57:46

little bit, but then at the same time I

57:48

felt really safe because we had these checkpoints where

57:50

the military would come on and they had a

57:52

list of everyone who was on board and they

57:54

had to go and look at each one of

57:56

your passports and

57:58

just verify all of that. being told we

58:00

can't take photos of certain military bases as

58:03

we're getting closer. That also felt kind of

58:05

like serious. Then

58:08

we go to basically an area where the

58:10

woman has to basically get our tickets to

58:13

enter the DMZ and

58:15

get a really great tour of all of that area.

58:18

And then we finally get to go up

58:20

to this observatory and look out into North

58:23

Korea. Oh wow. And see the border. And

58:25

it's this big old fake town. She told

58:27

us this is basically a fake city that

58:30

North Korea has built. No one really lives

58:32

there. But there's tons of these

58:34

little view finders where you get to look into

58:36

the country. And she even

58:38

has this high tech one where she's kind of

58:40

zooming in and capturing movement. And

58:43

we got to look in and you

58:45

could see North Korean citizens walking

58:48

around like a guy on a bicycle.

58:50

Like I saw a truck go by and she

58:53

goes, that's very strange because they're not allowed to

58:55

have cars so they must be doing some construction

58:57

over there. And they were saying it's like a

58:59

fake town just for you guys to

59:01

see that? Or is it

59:03

more North Korea I think wants to

59:06

keep their citizens in a different area?

59:09

And nobody can see them. Which was also interesting

59:11

right in the South Korean side right near the

59:13

border they have a thing called a peace village

59:16

where only 200 citizens get

59:18

to live in. And it's

59:20

called a unification village, a peace village. Only

59:23

200 citizens can live there. They live there tax

59:25

free. They don't have to serve in

59:27

the military. Because in the

59:29

country you have to serve in the military

59:31

for one and a half years I believe.

59:34

Everybody every guy has to. But

59:36

even if you're the most famous person ever like

59:39

in BTS the only way you get exempt from

59:41

being in their military is if you win a

59:43

gold medal in the Olympics. You're

59:46

exempt from joining the military. And

59:48

I think there's another medal like the guy

59:51

who I think is the big baseball player

59:53

who I think plays out

59:55

here. He won some like MVP

59:58

title. he didn't have to serve. But

1:00:01

those people are exempt, they don't have to pay taxes, but they

1:00:03

live in this tiny village. They have a curfew at 7 p.m.

1:00:06

And every single night they have to go to bed

1:00:09

and the military has to check that they're not housing

1:00:11

any escapees from North

1:00:13

Korea. Another, so it's

1:00:15

wild, one, seeing the North Korean

1:00:17

citizens, seeing it all play out,

1:00:20

and just knowing that these people are being

1:00:22

held against their will, and it's

1:00:24

a tough thing, you're taking photos of it, you're like, should

1:00:26

we take a picture? But you're like, but no, this is

1:00:29

so serious. Why should we even be smiling about this? Yeah.

1:00:32

It was really wild just to see that

1:00:34

it existed. We also got to go

1:00:36

through something called the Third Tunnel. We weren't allowed

1:00:38

to take photos. It was 400 meters deep. We

1:00:42

had to wear hard hats. So they basically, South

1:00:45

Korea has discovered these tunnels over the

1:00:47

years of that

1:00:49

tunnel that North Korea has built to

1:00:51

invade South Korea. And

1:00:54

we went down this third tunnel, dude, and

1:00:56

we had to pick up our helmets just

1:00:58

like this and go down so deep into

1:01:01

the ground, freezing cold. And then I was

1:01:03

hunched down. That would freak me out. It

1:01:06

was the most claustrophobic thing I've ever done

1:01:08

in my life, all just at the end

1:01:10

of it, just to see through this little

1:01:12

window of this area where

1:01:15

they were growing plants. But

1:01:18

it was really cool to do, because you feel so, I

1:01:21

don't know, proud and deep

1:01:23

in the element, like, oh, shit, we're doing this. That

1:01:26

was fucking bananas. Was there like a tiny hole at the

1:01:28

end of the tunnel to look at? Yeah.

1:01:31

What is going on there now? Did they block

1:01:33

it up? They blocked it up, but they

1:01:35

opened it up on the outside where there's like,

1:01:38

yeah. So we went all the way

1:01:40

down this tunnel and then went further down another

1:01:42

one. And then there was like a water tank.

1:01:44

And then there's an area where I think the

1:01:46

little camera icon, it's these plants. And

1:01:49

Patricia looked at it and was like, you don't even want to look at

1:01:51

it. And I was like, screw it. I'm not going to look at it,

1:01:53

because there were more people online. We

1:01:57

were sweating our balls off.

1:02:00

But no because your back's been

1:02:03

down and you're like walking at

1:02:05

it was physically exhausting doing it

1:02:08

But it was so fucking cool to

1:02:13

To do that how's the weather out there? It

1:02:15

was perfect the entire time 72

1:02:18

and sunny it felt like it was like LA

1:02:20

like our entire trip it rained our last day

1:02:22

But we were perfect weather so how

1:02:24

was like overall like food food

1:02:26

was great We never really ate anything. We

1:02:28

thought was like disgusting. Did you have any?

1:02:33

Dim sum yes, we did have dim sum we

1:02:36

did have dim sum one night Compared to

1:02:38

Japan. What would you say was like um? It's

1:02:42

it's it's a little tough because I think

1:02:44

that they are both awesome in need to

1:02:46

be seen in their own element for you

1:02:48

To discover what you like more. I would

1:02:50

say that Tokyo was way more like New

1:02:52

York City And I

1:02:55

got a vibe and sold that it felt like

1:02:57

LA Yeah, just because there were like so many

1:02:59

different boroughs. It wasn't the the buildings weren't like

1:03:01

too much of them Monstrosity

1:03:04

like Tokyo was and a

1:03:06

really good like description of like whenever you travel

1:03:09

to a country You're like what was the vibe it

1:03:11

was in New York was it Miami was it LA

1:03:14

was it Texas? Yeah? Yeah, I Felt

1:03:17

but I still at the end

1:03:19

of the day. I did kind of prefer Japan

1:03:22

more soul I felt like people were a

1:03:24

little bit more serious especially at customer service

1:03:26

wise they weren't rude They were just serious

1:03:28

like that like they and they do bow

1:03:31

like slight nod here and there I felt

1:03:33

like in Japan if we're just walking into

1:03:35

a store the customers are just like you

1:03:38

know yeah Full-on greeting you they

1:03:40

a lot of them was a little more smiley a

1:03:43

little bit But they definitely weren't rude in Korea. I

1:03:45

just felt them to be a little bit more serious

1:03:49

And I feel like the architecture was still

1:03:51

very like very modern and soul I feel

1:03:53

like Japan has its own kind of cultural

1:03:56

influences in Things it

1:03:58

could be a new building, but there's like old

1:04:00

Japanese element. Yeah. I

1:04:02

still feel like Seoul was kind of modern. And once

1:04:04

again guys, these are just my observations of what I

1:04:06

saw. I know that there's more places to see and

1:04:08

explore there. Um, yeah.

1:04:12

Did you wish you could stay longer or were you like? Actually

1:04:14

it was kind of like perfect timing. Yeah. I

1:04:17

wish I could have done a, can't really do

1:04:19

a day trip to Busan, but I would

1:04:22

have liked to have seen more of the country.

1:04:24

The train to Busan? Yeah, the train to Busan,

1:04:26

the zombie movie. How long were you there for?

1:04:28

Like five days? Six, kind

1:04:30

of. Six. Yeah, we got there on Wednesday and

1:04:32

we left on Tuesday. So I guess it was

1:04:34

kind of five days of travel. But

1:04:37

the nightlife was awesome. The clubs were

1:04:39

great. Uh, we

1:04:42

enjoyed it so, so much. That's good. What

1:04:44

was crazy? These are just tiny little things

1:04:46

that I observed. Oh my God. That looks like we're

1:04:48

at like Austin, Texas

1:04:51

night club. We

1:04:54

were out in the thick of it. It was cool. I

1:04:56

was running into people we had mutual friends with. People

1:04:59

were coming up to me. Of course. I

1:05:01

had a friend from college who was out there partying

1:05:03

for like two weeks and living out there and a

1:05:05

bunch of Americans had met him and

1:05:08

were like, wait, you know this guy we

1:05:10

were just partying with him like a week

1:05:12

ago. Weird. Crazy. Uh,

1:05:15

huge airsoft scene. Oh yeah. Big old

1:05:17

airsoft shops and bars where you could

1:05:19

think in hand is like super into

1:05:21

airsoft too. And their

1:05:24

tinted windows are so dark,

1:05:26

especially on the windshield. You

1:05:28

can't even see the driver driving. Is that

1:05:30

all of them? Most. Most.

1:05:34

I felt like 75% of the cars I saw.

1:05:36

Yeah, what's the cars look like over there? I

1:05:39

would say similar to Japan, but also I felt

1:05:41

like maybe. Well like Japan car scene is like

1:05:43

pretty insane. Actually I felt like there was a lot

1:05:45

more American luxury cars. I felt

1:05:47

like I saw tons of Mercedes, tons of

1:05:49

Range Rovers, Land Rovers. I guess I didn't

1:05:52

really see like those tiny, tiny Japanese vehicles,

1:05:54

but occasionally you would see. Was there brands

1:05:56

that you'd never seen before? Yes. Oh

1:05:58

yeah. One car

1:06:00

where it's like a one-seater and then the

1:06:03

one-seater behind you and it's like a smart

1:06:05

car It looks bizarre, but kind of fun

1:06:07

like skinny very skinny Weird

1:06:10

that one was really cool. Our Kia souls

1:06:12

big My

1:06:14

Kia, so I didn't uh, yeah, I

1:06:16

guess yeah, I saw a lot of those. Okay,

1:06:19

Kia Ray It's

1:06:22

so cheap out there like we would eat like if

1:06:24

same kind of way in Japan where we would eat

1:06:27

like kings and we Get the bill and it was

1:06:29

like 50 bucks and you're like, how how is it

1:06:31

that cheap? Well, yeah was um, did you try any

1:06:33

like fruits out there? Fruits

1:06:35

fruits are such a good thing to eat. I

1:06:37

know countries. That's like my go-to thing now such

1:06:39

a different experience You know what?

1:06:41

I don't think we had many fruits We had a lot of

1:06:43

like pickled vegetables with like our food America

1:06:45

has had the worst fruit. Yeah, is that every

1:06:48

country I've been to the fruits are always better

1:06:50

I also just love with like the customer service

1:06:52

when they hand you your card they do like

1:06:54

Really When

1:06:59

they grab it they do this like I Think

1:07:02

they did that also in Japan But it's just this

1:07:04

like they clearly teach you that in

1:07:06

customer service when you have to handsome scar It's

1:07:08

this inward pull of one hand and then you

1:07:10

do that it like close you off weird you

1:07:12

offer the exchange Oh, I noticed that

1:07:14

a lot in Japan to remember it

1:07:16

was always that tray. Yeah It's

1:07:19

like you respect its respectable. I mean them on me

1:07:21

Yeah on the tray from the tray and you can

1:07:23

tell how celebrated children are out there children

1:07:28

how They have like

1:07:30

children's day which is a big holiday where every kid

1:07:32

gets to be celebrated that day He felt like there

1:07:34

were a lot of day cares a lot of facilities

1:07:36

to encourage Curiosity knowledge all of

1:07:38

that parents really seem to love their children

1:07:40

I felt like friendships out there too were

1:07:43

very very strong when you see people who

1:07:45

are sitting down at dinner nobody

1:07:47

is like Passively like kind

1:07:49

of on their phones or like waiting

1:07:51

for the next thing people are so

1:07:53

deep in their conversations out there Which

1:07:55

was like really beautiful to to see

1:07:57

that and a lot of the nightlife

1:07:59

scene Like as a solo person, I felt

1:08:02

like it's a tough place to go to because

1:08:04

you really can't get a drink and sit at

1:08:07

a bar. They sit you down at a table.

1:08:09

There's not like a place for individuals to

1:08:11

be. Oh really? Yeah. So you have to be

1:08:13

amongst people every time they see you. They

1:08:15

really cater to just like going out but making

1:08:17

it a communal experience for your... Are they

1:08:19

super vending machine friendly too? Tons of... A lot

1:08:22

of vending machines but not as many as I

1:08:24

saw in Tokyo. Yeah. Yeah.

1:08:27

Not as many as I saw in Tokyo. And...

1:08:30

Oh what else? Mmm. Oh

1:08:33

we saw a famous Korean person at the airport. Oh who? Like

1:08:36

hordes of people were like following her and taking pics of

1:08:38

her. I don't know. I don't know if

1:08:40

she was a K-pop star, an actress, but this girl had like

1:08:43

blonde hair and she was shopping like in the duty free. And

1:08:46

all of these people are looking at her but

1:08:48

she's just not even giving them the time of

1:08:50

day. She was blonde. I don't know. Blonde short

1:08:52

girl. Oh the faint scene

1:08:54

in other countries. I wonder how that...

1:08:57

what that's like. Because

1:08:59

it's considered very rude in America if you're clearly

1:09:01

like just... Yeah.

1:09:05

I don't know if people even go up to

1:09:07

the masker photos but they just like observe them

1:09:09

from afar. Maybe. Yeah. Take

1:09:11

pictures of them. Internet influencers are probably a big

1:09:13

thing out there. They

1:09:15

are. Yeah the guy I met up with,

1:09:17

he's like a manager for like collab but

1:09:19

in Seoul. And so he deals with a

1:09:21

lot of the internet celebrities that happen out

1:09:23

over there. I wonder

1:09:25

how respected

1:09:28

they are in other countries. It's

1:09:30

pretty much a similar kind of scene though. Where

1:09:32

it's like oh they're internet influencers. It's like

1:09:35

I wonder like if it's that type of...

1:09:37

I'm curious about metrics. Because like we're a

1:09:39

country of 340 million people. They're

1:09:42

a country of 50 million

1:09:44

people. Yeah. Yeah 50 million

1:09:47

people. So I guess if

1:09:49

you're the most famous person. I

1:09:51

don't know if it's like if you have

1:09:53

like a couple hundred thousand followers you're massive.

1:09:55

Versus like a

1:09:57

million. I don't know. I

1:10:00

really did enjoy it. We had a

1:10:02

fantastic time. We

1:10:04

got such a travel bug doing it that we definitely want

1:10:06

to go. I think we really want to go to try

1:10:09

go back to Japan in like

1:10:11

wintertime. Because I

1:10:13

want to see like this snow in Japan and

1:10:15

see all those like cozy villages and stuff. Their

1:10:17

boarding is insane. Remember when we found out like

1:10:19

people surf out there? Yeah, like

1:10:22

I can't even picture like people

1:10:24

surfing in Japan. Yeah, the

1:10:26

skiing scene is really big out there too.

1:10:28

Sick. But we loved it. I feel like

1:10:31

I covered most of it. Did you bring

1:10:33

back any currency? I bought... You

1:10:35

know what I bought? I bought North Korean money. No

1:10:38

way. Yeah, they like sell it at like the

1:10:40

border and like one of the gift shops. You

1:10:42

can buy North Korean money. It's real? Yeah,

1:10:44

it's real. It's real. It's

1:10:47

pretty cool. You know, I was expecting you to wear

1:10:49

something from South Korea. I got this hat. Oh, okay.

1:10:52

I got this hat from a brand little riddle. You

1:10:54

guys would have loved it. It was like this. American

1:10:58

Western inspired like store. They had a

1:11:00

lot of those in Japan too. Yeah,

1:11:02

this place was really really cool. I

1:11:05

got you guys gifts. Oh,

1:11:07

really? Yeah. Yeah,

1:11:10

I got you guys some material.

1:11:13

Mariah, this is for you. Wait.

1:11:16

Yes, Mariah, this is for you. Thank you. Sorry, the

1:11:18

packaging is coming off. How my burritos come out when

1:11:20

I roll. This

1:11:23

is for you. And this is

1:11:25

for you. Matt, you

1:11:28

know, I don't read. I just said it. You

1:11:31

said it. Well, you definitely can't read this. It's

1:11:34

in a different language. Oh,

1:11:38

Korean pasta. Oh, it's a way training.

1:11:41

Way training. Oh, my

1:11:44

God. So look at

1:11:46

this book, hon. Oh, that's

1:11:48

funny. That's really pretty. That's

1:11:51

really cool. Yeah. This is so

1:11:53

funny. I don't know if

1:11:55

they're real guns of their airsoft. That's so funny.

1:12:00

Yeah, it looks really cool. Well, what you

1:12:02

gonna make? Yeah, get out Google. I don't

1:12:04

know, I can't read it. Get out Google

1:12:06

translate. Oh yeah, people are from. That's really

1:12:08

cool, thank you. That'd be a good like

1:12:10

TikTok, like trying to make a curry pasta

1:12:12

dish. What if I like, what if

1:12:14

this is what made me insanely shredded?

1:12:16

I just followed this guy, like guys, you need to

1:12:18

buy this book, you just have to translate it. This

1:12:22

is so interesting. Oh, this

1:12:24

is so sick. I'm actually gonna translate this. I

1:12:26

wanna see like how they're like. Yeah, if there's

1:12:28

any new fitness takeaways that you could have. Oh

1:12:30

look, this is what Todd does every day. Look,

1:12:32

Heath. I think that is

1:12:34

Todd. Oh shit, it is. Well,

1:12:39

thank you, that was very sweet. Yeah, and the trip

1:12:41

sounded fun, I wanna go there. It

1:12:43

does sound, I really wish

1:12:45

I could have seen the DMZ zone with

1:12:47

you, that would have been sick. Did you

1:12:49

take a video? DMZ,

1:12:52

yeah. You have videos? Yeah. All

1:12:55

right, maybe you wanna close this out? Yeah, let's do it.
