Laurent Martel is a demography expert at Statistics Canada. He has a Master's degree in demography from the University of Montreal as well as advanced studies in economic demography from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris. He has been with Statistics Canada since 1997 and he is responsible for many statistical programs related to demography such as population projections as well as demographic analysis related to the census. He is also the current president of the Association internationale des démographes de langue française (AIDELF).

Bella Bathurst is a writer of fiction and non-fiction writer, and a photographer.Bathurst's journalism has appeared in the Washington Post, the Guardian, and the Sunday Times. Her first book, "The Lighthouse Stevensons," was published in 1999. Her second book, the novel "Special," was published in 2002. Her other books are "The Wreckers," published in 2005, "The Bicycle Book," published in 2011, and "Sound," which was published in 2017. Her most recent book is "Field Work: What Land Does to People & What People Do to Land," which was published in 2021.
