Episode three is one very close to my heart. Back in 2007-8, I became the first female to successfully circumnavigate as skipper of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race so it was my absolute pleasure to chat with professional sailor and skipper of the first placed team in the 2017-18 Clipper Race - Wendy Tuck. Not only did she WIN the race but in doing so became the FIRST female skipper in history to win an around the world yacht race, a decade after my own circumnavigation. This truly inspiring lady talks about her experinces of leading a team of amatuer sailors around the world, dealing with the man management aspect of the race and describes in details her greatest "oh s&%t" moment which only goes to demonstrate the tenacity, determination and spirit of this truly inspiring female. Wendy is an incredibly humble person who admits that she did not even realise initially that her first place in the Clipper Race put her in the sailing history books. For anyone who wants to learn about how to keep calm in a crisis and motivate a team to keep pushing no matter how tough it gets this episode is for you. So tune in, feel free to share and I hope you enjoy the amazing stories Wendy has to tell.
As ever thank you for listening and if you have a story you would like to share please get in touch info@achievingawesome.co. If you have a moment to give the show a rating on I Tunes I would much appreciate your support.
PS. We conducted this interview thousands of miles apart via Skype so occaisionally the sound quality is not perfect so bear with us on that one :)
