Education is expensive but not knowing about your options for funding your child’s education is more expensive 

The financial aid package offered to you may not cover 100% of you need that is where you need to compare financial aid packages. Grants are money provided to students that does not require repayment. Campus-based Aid is administered directly by the financial aid office of the University.  Stafford loans could be subsidized or unsubsidized. 

Now that you know your expected family contribution and different ways that you can fund your child’s education, you have more questions. Should you borrow from your retirement account? 

You should also have other factors in decision-making like - what is your child planning to study? Will the chosen career payoff?  Students loans are difficult to be discharged and even you Social Security wages can be garnished to some extent.
