We all have unique paths to uncovering our dreams. Jessica Brown’s too, was. Born to mixed culture parents and raised singly by her mom, she grew up in Panama and assimilated the culture very young, thanks to her kind neighbors and her efforts to try to come across as good all the time. But her attempts to impress everyone started to take a toll on her mentally when it became painfully forced.

Forced authenticity manifests into a need for validation, something you shouldn’t seek from anyone else. On the career front, Jessica managed to get into the military to avail its free education program and served its mandatory years before venturing into recruitment and people management after graduation.

Jessica confesses that her journey with attaining self-validation has been challenging – it might not even be over yet. But things do become better with the help of a friend, don’t they? For her, it was her teachers who understood her story and the younger kids she tutored who saw her for who she was and how she treated them. Her need for external validation came down from their good company over the years and taught her what most people fighting internal battles desire from others: see themselves for who they really are.

Today, you’ll learn how Jessica mustered the courage to follow her own path and use her scars as a symbol of resilience, uplifting others with the knowledge she has. As a recruiter turned professional coach, Jessica’s next (and forever) best move is encouraging women and young girls to know their worth and see themselves for who they are and not what society or social media tells them they are. If you’ve always seeked someone else’s opinion for validation, today’s episode will teach you how to drop the unconscious act!
