There is often a lot of focus about racism and its harmful affects in the Black community, especially as it pertains to Black men. But conversation about the plight of Black women, who face high levels of murder, physical and sexual violence is often met with denial, gaslighting and silence. Black women who advocate for themselves and other Black women and girls are accused of waging a "gender war" or causing division in the community.
