Personal sexy zoom voice
0:03
yeah no i'm telling you you definitely should
0:06
look into voiceover acting i need
0:09
to connect to our listeners yeah dirty skittles needs a connection to voiceover
0:16
acting the perfect way to get out of her shitty job i need like uh like one-liners
0:25
to read like audition this is my auditioning tape,
0:30
Can we just pull a line out of one of your spicy books?
0:35
Somebody else would have to pull the line. Because if you give it to me,
0:38
I immediately want the most horrible.
0:41
Like, you know, not horrible. That's good, depending on if you like that sort of thing.
0:49
This morning, this season is not PG. So yeah, yesterday I realized that I need an assistant.
0:56
So we had some scheduling conflicts. and
1:00
this all came about during my day job right
1:03
where i also had some conflicts going on and
1:06
both of them yeah both of them
1:09
needed my attention like right away so i
1:12
had to flip a coin and figure out which one i
1:15
was going to work on at that very moment
1:18
i realized that i need an assistant somebody that
1:21
can handle that stuff during the day when i can't really
1:24
get to it because i still work right i i have
1:27
a day job but like stuff with a podcast is
1:30
also important especially now because we have
1:33
zero spots left for 2024 like zero
1:37
yeah how crazy is that and it's may and it's may and like how the fuck this
1:43
happened is beyond me but i think the other cool thing that happened this week
1:47
too is that we hit 400 000 downloads and incredibly humbling excuse me while
1:53
i have a panic attack. I'm just kidding.
1:56
I literally, you know what? I'm in a healthy state of delusion.
2:01
I'm like, nobody's listening. Although I was talking to a coworker.
2:07
We won't say her name there, but I'm pretty sure she probably reached out and told you the story.
2:11
Talking to a coworker and I've literally, this is how I blacked out shit that makes me nervous.
2:17
But I swore she said she was somewhere listening to it.
2:21
And just a complete stranger was like, oh my God, I love that podcast.
2:26
And she told me that and I was like, oh, I gotta go. It's like Microsoft Teams
2:31
just did something wrong. Hang up. Oh, it fucked me up for the day. I know it fucked you up, but like,
2:41
does it fuck you up like in a humbling way or?
2:45
I think you and I have briefly talked about this, probably not while we're recording,
2:49
where it's like, it's one thing.
2:51
Okay, this is completely a me, you thing. it's one
2:55
thing for me to encourage your story
2:58
right like I'm like this is important she's got a lot
3:01
to say like this is wonderful blah blah blah and like I'm like yes do
3:04
it girl do it like I'm cheering you on but then
3:07
when you hear from other people that hey someone
3:10
so really likes your podcast or a complete stranger is like hey that
3:13
podcast is great I'm like oh yeah people
3:17
are actually listening I'm like this is actually helping somebody
3:20
and it freaks me out freaks me
3:23
out because I'm like oh yeah like I become very self-aware
3:27
like what am I saying like what am I putting out there people listening
3:30
like it's kind of trippy and that's kind of like why I
3:33
don't tell you anymore when a new article goes out or like she can't or anything
3:38
like that because I'm afraid to poke the bear that will go into a full-on panic
3:42
attack so what I do is I just put them into like bundles and then I like send
3:48
you a text I'm like hey listen we got like three new articles can you
3:52
go read these yeah after you've
3:55
maybe taken a gummy right shit maybe
3:58
not so that i might get more into my head who knows we'll have to test it out
4:02
do you let's do a quick intro and then we can dig in you ready let's go i'm
4:09
gonna do the intro because i am all in and you're ready you should just roll
4:13
today bro i'm just here okay i don't know what i'm doing.
4:16
Music.
4:33
Three two one one welcome
4:37
back to another episode of shit that goes on our
4:40
heads today it's just dirty skittles and i and we
4:43
are going to recap season six how the fuck did that happen i don't know i honestly
4:50
i don't know it was just yesterday we recorded the very first one that we never
4:57
aired remember right we recorded it we listened to it back and you were like no i needed a mic,
5:04
you're like i need a mic let's try that again and then
5:07
we tried to recreate it and it just wasn't the same it wasn't
5:10
and this i think we laughed a bunch and this
5:13
was all started because of some fucked up story you and i were telling each
5:17
other like hey we should record a podcast okay a month later we dropped our
5:22
first episode and now we're in season six and we're all the way up to almost 70 episodes. I know.
5:31
That's fucking crazy. It's fucking crazy. But I love it. And I love our Saturdays together.
5:38
And I love meeting all these new amazing guests.
5:41
Yeah. And the whole...
5:45
Sorry to interrupt. Go ahead. No, you go ahead. Go ahead. I was going to say
5:49
just how grateful and how cool it is that people are like, we want to record with y'all.
5:56
Yeah. And like, people are willing to wait. We are completely booked for 2024.
6:03
It's crazy. It's wild. And every day, I get at least four emails of people that
6:10
want to get on the podcast. So starting mid-July, we are going to stop doing pre-recordings because we will
6:19
have enough content to take us into February.
6:21
But i will start the recordings again sometime in late october and because there
6:29
are people waiting to to talk to us and i'm like we're a little booked right
6:33
now but we still want to talk to you,
6:37
and you can sign up for the newsletter to kind of see where we're at what's
6:42
going on in our lives and over the last couple weeks i've had about 10 new subscribers
6:46
to our newsletter wow Oh, that's really cool.
6:52
How does it feel for you? Because this was not only just like a joke amongst
6:57
friends, but you for sure came out of a dark place.
7:03
You're much better now and you're sharing your story.
7:07
So like, how does this feel for you? It's very surreal.
7:11
So surreal. And like never in a million fucking years than I think that I would
7:18
be doing a podcast, let alone sharing my story.
7:22
But it's so fucking healing for me.
7:26
I'm so thankful to be alive. Every single day, I'm so thankful to be here and
7:32
to be inspiring and to get other people to share their journeys and make people
7:37
feel less terrified about their own shit they're going through because it's
7:41
scary. Depression sucks. And I think, well, I know that we're making a difference.
7:47
Like your story, right? Somebody said that they love our podcast.
7:52
A complete stranger, you know, because when we started this,
7:55
it was just friends and family. And now we have best-selling authors we have
8:00
morning show hosts we have you know
8:03
people from all walks of life and the
8:07
fact that we ended up having to get a pr firm because i just couldn't do all
8:12
this shit myself i mean i tried i did really good for almost a year you did
8:17
so good not really good i think we are here because of your effort and the work that you put in i love
8:25
doing this like when recording saturday comes
8:28
up i get so excited i went to bed at 10
8:31
o'clock last night i never go to bed just so you're
8:34
fresh and ready to go
8:36
and you know i get to do this with my best friend and not everybody gets to
8:43
do this and you know people say to me all the time that we just really land
8:48
well and that you know you ask those really hard questions and And then I come
8:54
back sometimes with a snarky answer. Maybe not, but it's so healing.
8:58
And when I'm done recording on Saturdays, like I'm at an 11 because I just feel
9:06
like I've learned something new,
9:08
a new tip, a new technique and how people got out of some of the darkest places
9:14
in their life to get to someplace better.
9:17
And you know i just want to give people hope because life
9:21
really is better on the other side of depression yeah i
9:25
know and there you go gonna make
9:28
me cry again because i feel oh my gosh what are we
9:32
in what 10 minutes in yeah you're i
9:34
got a little tear in my eye because of you but yeah i
9:38
you know i want to give a shout out to our family because we
9:42
you know we spend a lot lot of time on the
9:45
podcast i took away some of the responsibilities from dirty
9:48
skills so she can you know spend time with her son
9:51
and work at her not so
9:53
fantastic job but i love it and you know i'm in a point in my life where i get
10:00
to not only work at my dream job like i get to follow my passion also and it's
10:06
funny my wife lisa the lesbian she's like i've never seen you work so hard on
10:11
something you don't get paid for. And, you know, that truly has been our mission since day one is that, you know.
10:19
I am so passionate about this and we're both really good at this.
10:24
Not to, you know, throw an ego blast out there, but we're really good.
10:28
And we bring out like, we bring out like the best in all of our guests.
10:34
And, you know, Heather reached out to me the other day and she's like,
10:38
I listened to Jackie's episode.
10:41
I was just, I loved it. and every episode
10:44
that we have they all have something awesome
10:47
to say about what we're doing and how we're helping other
10:50
people so yeah dr jackie
10:54
dr jackie she was awesome so cool
10:58
for me because i remember literally like
11:01
yesterday i'm up in our kitchen and i'm
11:04
reading up on the guests so that i can kind
11:07
of you know not necessarily plan out the questions but like know
11:10
what direction to go into and i remember reading about dr
11:13
jackie and thinking whoa this is
11:17
there's a lot here right like her story
11:21
her history i never in
11:24
a million years would think that i would have the opportunity to talk to somebody
11:27
like that it was just intense and but awesome and that's the awesome part about
11:33
this it's like think about all those amazing people we've gotten to speak with
11:38
that in our normal day-to-day life,
11:41
we probably would never run into.
11:44
Right. That to me is like the coolest part of our podcast.
11:48
And I think what's really cool, not necessarily just about Dr.
11:51
Jackie, but I remember in that episode, I'm learning, I'm seeing,
11:56
like we get to see the people for who they are today, right?
11:59
And then we get to hear about how, what their past was like.
12:03
And so even such a, I mean, I would say intense pass for her parents and look at her now.
12:11
She's so put together and she's not a victim of whatever happened, right?
12:18
Like she is this beautiful, wonderful person.
12:21
I just think that's so cool because it's not just her. It's like every guest
12:24
we see and we get to talk to. We get like, almost like a, what do I want to say? Like we're going back to the future, right?
12:31
Like, we see you today, but we're going back and learning your story. Like, it's crazy.
12:36
And that, to me, is really cool.
12:38
And getting a sense of everything that they've been through and teaching us new lessons.
12:46
I really depend on you to write stuff down because when I'm recording,
12:51
I'm in the moment and I can't do two things at once. I've tried.
12:55
I'm 60 now. It's a lot harder to do at 16 and
12:59
it probably was at like 45 i've got like
13:02
blinders on i'm like i just need to focus on this
13:04
one task i think i
13:07
have a little bit of late stage adhd i'm not sure like i'll be working on podcast
13:14
stuff and then i'll remember that there was something else that you know at
13:16
least the lesbian asked me to do and i'm like oh just gotta go on hold at least
13:22
you remember that she She asked you to do something. Only because I wrote it down.
13:28
Okay, well, can you write and stuff down? I use my phone, so I text myself a
13:32
message of stuff that I'm supposed to do. Otherwise, I forget.
13:36
So besides Dr. Jackie, we also had Barb. Barb and Carmel.
13:41
Love Barb and Carmel. I'm so proud of her.
13:46
She's been winning a bunch of literary awards for her books.
13:50
And really getting out there and showing people that therapy animals are so
13:57
important. Not just for kids, but for adults, you know, people in senior homes,
14:02
you know, they're just, pets are comforting.
14:05
And as much as my eight asshole cats, you know, are little assholes, I still love them.
14:11
And like when I'm around them, I feel they give me a sense of calm.
14:16
And I will say something about Dr. Barb. She comments on every single post we put on Instagram.
14:24
Every single post. she's like our biggest
14:27
cheerleader i love that so quick uh side
14:30
mission eight cats eight tell the
14:33
listeners who your favorite cat is okay don't
14:36
say you can't pick don't say so my favorite is
14:39
momo she is our blind cat and she
14:42
is the most resilient cat ever she's
14:45
cute she can't see anything she uses
14:49
her senses to get around and she's just
14:52
soft so soft but i try not
14:55
to pet her because that girl so the
14:58
reason she smells like dryer sheets all the time is
15:01
because she likes to roll around in the fucking litter box okay
15:04
listen girl go clean your shit okay
15:07
don't roll on me let me go
15:10
take eight thousands or ten d when i'm
15:13
done petting you please oh so that's
15:16
like torture a soft animal you can't pet she's resilient
15:22
and so are you maybe i'll just get a stuff
15:25
version of her like mobo i was sorry side mission we're back i was thinking
15:31
of barbie the other day because my son is learning math he loves math by the
15:37
way completely unlike his mom so i'm like yes let's encourage this but we were
15:41
trying to work through a math problem and we.
15:45
Have a dog and he came
15:48
over his name is mayor he was
15:52
named mayor because isle is obsessed with john mayor
15:55
shout out to john mayor i'm not
15:58
obsessed with you but other people are anyhow so we're
16:00
were trying to teach him math using mayor and
16:03
it was like he couldn't be more focused and
16:07
i remember that being one of the things that barb talked about in her episode
16:10
and i just was like oh i i thought it was cool that i can think back on on her
16:15
yeah in my life yeah like she was she's so passionate about the therapy animal program and.
16:25
Just really out there and she's an educator too herself and
16:28
just you know bringing all that together so that
16:32
people have a better understanding of how the process
16:35
works how it can really help children especially you know i think she said it
16:40
was like second graders you know helping them ease their fears and their tensions
16:46
and anxiety and just getting into the moment and so i really love
16:52
that and then we had bob the episode
16:56
where you and i laughed so hard our face hurt after and then we had to like
17:03
record like two more sessions after that i have never had a deeper conversation
17:09
about crickets in my entire life versions.
17:14
You know what though bizzle i think
17:16
finally listened to it to that episode because at
17:20
night like two or three nights ago he
17:23
kept laughing about crooked legs being stuck
17:26
in your teeth he had a couple of gummies but he
17:29
couldn't stop laughing and i'm like where is this coming
17:32
from then i remember bob and i
17:35
i love that you know he was able to overcome some of
17:38
his aversions so that you know he could have kids and you know i don't think
17:43
that's why but so that he could have kids so that he could have kids and so
17:47
that he could like enjoy life and you know it just as an adult you know life
17:52
sucks anyway but having those fears and those aversions and.
17:58
And just making it through. And I really think that laughter is one of his coping
18:02
mechanisms because I have never laughed so hard for an entire hour.
18:08
I mean, I've laughed with you, but I had tears rolling down my eyes,
18:13
down my cheeks, because he would not stop.
18:17
It was just like, I'm like, I'm going to die of laughter.
18:21
Literally. Yeah. I remember texting you after that one saying my face hurts
18:26
just from smiling through that whole episode and laughing through the whole
18:30
thing. Yeah, he was, it was wonderful. It was wonderful. And I like that, like, I could relate to his story, right?
18:38
Like, sometimes we think that, yeah, maybe there's something weird about this,
18:44
but you don't really know, right? Like, you don't know. And then when somebody points it out, you're like,
18:48
oh, yeah, I guess maybe that's not normal.
18:52
And I can relate to that. Maybe what I'm saying is a bad thing.
18:57
I don't know. Let me go back and research this. Oh, wait, I don't have any time.
19:01
That's why I need an assistant. Okay, I hear you. I need an assistant. So this could be my audition tape for
19:09
voice acting in your intro or job posting for an assistant.
19:14
For an assistant. We don't pay much because, as I said, we don't really have
19:18
a lot of sponsors except for Thanksicles, which... Thanksicles.
19:23
Which Dirty Skittles laughed about.
19:26
Yeah, I heard it on Spotify. I was like, dang, Sickles, this sounds like G-Rex.
19:32
Oh my God, I'm losing it today. Sorry, I needed a Red Bull break. And then we had Chokes.
19:38
Man, being diagnosed late in life with bipolar and having to go through all that craziness.
19:47
But I'm so proud of him for, you know, finding shit that works for him.
19:52
Meditation and, you know, watching his meds and, you know, looking for the signs
19:58
because not everybody does that, you know, those are on that spectrum,
20:03
bipolar disorder, right? Yeah, I think my biggest takeaway, way. Well, there was a bit of a self-reflective
20:09
moment because I remember in that episode, not really knowing what I could ask, right?
20:15
Like I had so many questions, my brain just naturally, I want to know all of
20:19
the things about everything. And I think I sometimes don't have a filter on what's appropriate to ask or not.
20:25
And so in that episode, I remember us recording and I'm kind of,
20:28
I was freezing mentally because I didn't know if all of my questions are necessarily
20:33
appropriate and I didn't want to offend him. Right.
20:37
I just, I'm so curious because I can't relate.
20:40
Right. So I'm like trying to like, oh my gosh, tell me more.
20:43
But my biggest takeaway on that episode was despite how difficult it may be
20:48
for someone taking the right steps to not only sure,
20:54
you know, get your therapy or your psychiatrist or whatever you need,
20:58
but like Like him learning his triggers and things that he needed to steer away from.
21:04
Yeah. It was huge. Kudos to him because, you know, he's working through it and, you know.
21:11
And I'm just, I'm really proud of him for, you know, sharing his story because
21:15
I'm, I can only imagine how difficult that was for him.
21:19
Right. Yeah. I can't even, I can't even put myself there. Like,
21:24
I'm like, wow, that's so admirable.
21:27
Right. Yeah. And it's proof that there is life after or through things.
21:33
I shouldn't say after, I'm saying constantly kind of working through it,
21:36
but there is life through that. And, you know, even he said,
21:39
you know, sharing his journey is therapy for him too, right?
21:42
Because he really wants to get the message out there and let people know that
21:46
there's tools and tips and tricks to get you through day to day.
21:50
And, you know, sharing our stories is so vitally important, especially these
21:58
days. Mental health is a huge topic.
22:00
And the more we get out there, the more people we're helping.
22:05
Yeah. We talked about Dr. Jack. we did talk about Dr.
22:08
Jackie and then we had Justin and oh my god I loved it loved him I would like
22:15
to revisit with him in the future yeah me too 2025 at this point because 2024 is completely booked,
22:25
I was inspired by his story because he didn't let his.
22:30
His upbringing take him down he bettered himself and he's He's out there helping others, right?
22:37
And helping the homeless and, you know, creating his nonprofit and,
22:42
you know, just living life and making a difference and, you know, realizing that.
22:49
You know, sometimes life is not all roses, but it's what you do with that,
22:54
what you do with that energy and that passion and facing those fears.
22:59
Like some of the stuff he talked about, like jumping out of an airplane,
23:02
fuck no, still never gonna happen. Yeah, but he was so genuine.
23:07
Like I remember sitting there and like it was very clear he was genuine.
23:12
He was unapologetically himself and he was just vulnerable.
23:16
That's what it was. He wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. And I just admire that so much about him.
23:22
And I think that the common thing that I've seen from season to season is that
23:27
when people are sitting in front of a microphone versus face-to-face,
23:32
they are way more vulnerable and way more willing to share more of themselves
23:37
than they would with somebody probably in a face-to-face conversation.
23:41
And I think that's why this medium is so important, right?
23:45
Because we give people an outlet to share that journey and share how they've bettered themselves,
23:53
how they've gotten out of like a traumatic situation or how they're out there
23:58
helping the world be a better place.
24:01
Yeah. I mean, I give you guys so much credit. You too. There was two thoughts
24:07
that ran through my mind as we were talking. One of them was like, I wonder what it is about opening up yourself to be vulnerable
24:13
in this type of setting where we have a microphone and we're recording, right?
24:17
Very weird, but it's true. I understand. And I can tell from some of our guests
24:22
that they are vulnerable and they have this mic and it's going out to hundreds
24:26
of thousands of listeners or or however many, the one person that's listening,
24:29
whoever it is though. And I'm just curious about that.
24:33
But also how brave you guys are because...
24:38
After you share your story and people listen, instead of like shying away from
24:44
ever talking about it again, you continue. And so I'm like, you're so brave. Not to make you cry again, but.
24:50
We keep trying to open the doors, right? And normalize these conversations because,
24:55
you know, for years and years, they've been swept under the carpet.
24:58
And now more than ever, these stories are important in these journeys because people are suffering.
25:06
And if we can give them a resource source to go get help or some sort of solace
25:12
or even just a tiny bit of laughter in their day,
25:14
it's it will make them feel better yeah and
25:18
then we had cecile we did have cecile i loved cecile oh my god what a great
25:24
i want to say it like with a french accent but i'm not my ears are bleeding
25:30
please no yes first of all i fangirl for a little bit yeah Yeah.
25:36
Because I just have to tell our listeners, I've only ever seen her up on stage,
25:42
in front of hundreds of people with a light looking just wonderful and confident.
25:50
And as my little female self, I'm sitting in this chair, watching her speak
25:57
and thinking, wow, I want to be that brave lady to be up on stage just talking and unstoppable.
26:03
Unstoppable so when i got to sit down in a more intimate setting i was like.
26:10
Like a fangirl a little bit it's like her and viv yeah look i have sweaty palms
26:16
just thinking about it incredibly socially awkward but she was so lovely right
26:25
like she had been traveling for like six weeks she didn't know what time zone she was in but
26:30
she was so happy yeah and she looked so young
26:33
right we were saying like she like that happiness
26:37
that genuine happiness from the inside out
26:40
made her look so
26:43
different than that confident woman on stage with all
26:46
the lights like all of a sudden it was like there was a different energy to
26:49
her yeah she and she suited it and you
26:52
know she was glowing talking about her you know her olives
26:55
and her travels she was living my dream and look how she just doesn't really
27:01
give a fuck about you know having to prove herself right because people kept
27:05
coming back to her so what are you gonna do next what are you gonna do you know
27:09
what i'm not gonna fucking do shit what i'm gonna do is enjoy my life.
27:13
And live it to the fullest. And, you know, people didn't really understand why she left when she did.
27:19
But, you know, there were circumstances that she needed to address.
27:24
And she is so much better for it, right? Splitting her time between the States
27:29
and France. Like, that doesn't fucking suck.
27:33
You know, living your life. And, you know, it brings me back to,
27:36
like, Bookie, you know, you don't have to make a bucket list.
27:40
If you live for today, that should be your bucket list, right?
27:44
And that's what she's doing. She's living for today and making those memories
27:48
with her kids and her husband and her friends and traveling and living her fucking
27:55
life. And you know what? People should be happy for that.
27:58
You don't have to be out there proving yourself. I mean, we don't do the podcast to prove ourselves.
28:04
I have nothing to prove. I'm happy. I'm healthy.
28:06
I'm alive. lives and like i said every day
28:09
i'm so very fucking thankful for that
28:12
because i get to do this with you oh thanks
28:16
dear i get to do with you too and we get to laugh about dumb shit
28:19
on the mornings that i call you yeah that's
28:22
my therapy like i should pay like like my
28:26
chat gpt unicorn which was
28:29
the best uh yeah we gotta share that
28:32
with our listeners one day one day one day well
28:35
share that fancy unicorn app but then
28:38
we had page and page was amazing okay
28:42
so in both cecile's episode and in page's episode both of our guests cried but
28:49
what i thought was really awesome is that they showed how vulnerable they were
28:55
in the moment but also let out a really important message during those times.
29:00
And that to me, you know, shows growth and, you know, it's okay to cry.
29:07
It really is. I just cried the other day out of sheer frustration,
29:12
but I felt better after it. It was kind of cathartic, but you know.
29:18
Ageist story of you know just the mental illness that
29:21
goes on within our medical community right
29:24
like i don't people i don't think people realize how
29:28
stressful those jobs are you know and we
29:31
all do get pissed off when we go to the emergency room and we
29:33
gotta wait for five hours but you know it's we're
29:37
understaffed we're overworked they're
29:42
and they just don't have the tools and
29:44
the the resources to help them deal with their own
29:47
mental health and i know i love that she's
29:50
out there trying to change that for other medical workers
29:53
you know just with her her conferences and the
29:57
her speaking engagements and she's out there trying
29:59
to make a difference and i commend i'm i commend her for that yeah it was i
30:06
really enjoyed that that day and recording with her because i remember thinking
30:10
or being curious i wonder how
30:13
many of our listeners will realize that they're not alone in her story.
30:19
And I just remember thinking that's super important.
30:22
My past is not the same as what the story she shared, but I remember even in
30:28
my own growth and becoming okay
30:30
with my issues, one of the first steps was realizing, oh, I'm not alone.
30:35
There are other people who feel like me and feel like this because this is happening to them too.
30:40
And I think even for her, that was something that she had to learn that it was
30:44
okay to be going through what she was going through. She's not a robot. She's not a soldier.
30:48
She is a human. And we have emotions and feelings and things will affect us.
30:53
And taking that and turning it to something positive, spreading it. Yeah, she was so lovely.
30:59
I remember when we did a pre-recording with her and she went out onto Instagram,
31:03
and was like blasting our name all over the place and like how much fun we were.
31:08
And I just, she has such cool energy, right? It just kind of.
31:14
It kind of like transcends into you when you're, even when you're just doing
31:18
a zoom call and I'm so, her episode was so good. So, so good.
31:23
It felt like just a conversation for sure. Like I felt like we were all in the
31:27
same room together, just sharing stories.
31:29
Like it was really shooting the shit. And you know, that, you know, it's funny.
31:33
I heard from Jack and Brad the other day and, you know, another,
31:37
you know, two more huge lovers of the podcast.
31:41
And they're like, yeah, every time I describe your podcast, It's just like,
31:45
you know, people sitting around in the fireplace, shooting the shit,
31:49
talking about life's crap. A night in with friends.
31:53
So, you know, and it's, we're easy. Like we don't, we're not clinical by any means.
31:59
We're not professionals by any means. But we're humans. But we're humans. We're compassionate.
32:05
Yes. Very. Empathetic. I'm only pathetic sometimes. Empathetic. Empathetic. I thought you called me pathetic.
32:14
I'm like, no, empathetic. Oh, God.
32:18
I'm chill because she called me pathetic. Holy shit.
32:21
No, dude. No. I love you. Don't ever. Yeah, you're like, oh,
32:25
I love you. I love you, man. Empathetic. And then we had Diane.
32:32
And I, what I love about her journey is that she got away from her narcissistic
32:39
mom and made a life for herself.
32:43
All on her own. And she was so, it was such a warm conversation.
32:52
And I, Diane, when you listen to this episode, I just want to say thank you
32:57
for clicking on the links in the newsletter. It makes me happy.
33:03
Wow, you can see that? Yeah, I can. I can see who opened it and if you clicked on any links.
33:09
But I love her story. and just
33:13
you know being at one with nature and just finding
33:17
the peace in your life but damn she
33:21
really like did it all she paid for school on her own she got a job she's written
33:27
her book and she found her happiness despite all the bullshit she went through
33:33
as a kid and you know I think there's a lot of lessons in that right that,
33:40
despite the trauma you've dealt with in your past
33:43
like pull yourself up by your bootstraps and go make a life for yourself yeah
33:49
you're gonna hit a thousand fucking bumps in the road but you get up you dust
33:53
yourself off and you just keep moving forward yeah she was inspiring she inspired
33:58
me I'm very much in my like.
34:03
Go female era and her story
34:06
and just like and i know this is just
34:09
a me thing i don't think this is how she was thinking of it but it was like i
34:12
think as like the underdog sometimes i want people
34:15
i want to see that underdog succeed and be like fuck you you know yeah no it's
34:20
kind of harsh but we are not you're not holding me down i'm gonna pick myself
34:26
up i'm gonna dust myself off and I am going to keep moving forward and find
34:32
my own fucking happiness. Surpass your expectations and
34:37
my own. Right. Like, I'm going to do it so well, you'll never forget it.
34:41
Yeah. Like, that's the shit I love. So, I loved her episode.
34:44
And then... We had Susie. Susie. Another episode... Oh, can I just say,
34:49
Susie, if you're listening to this, I want us to be best friends. Okay, go.
34:55
Another episode where we laughed hard
34:58
again face hurting thankfully it was the
35:01
last episode of the day that we recorded but
35:05
we stayed on for a while afterwards we did and she is
35:08
actually she was a two-parter because we
35:12
just couldn't i couldn't cram it all into one i tried wasn't
35:15
going to happen the message was too important to anything else
35:18
i loved how she had
35:22
the insight as a kid right
35:25
to recognize that a family member was struggling with
35:29
mental health issues and then followed that
35:32
passion all the way into adulthood and made it her mission to help others to
35:40
help others out right you know get it she's a 988 crisis counselor and making
35:48
that difference right and. She gave me chills because... Well, yeah. I mean, for you, that's...
35:56
I guess not just you, but for anybody who's used that resource to be able to
36:01
talk to somebody who's a part of that movement.
36:04
Yeah. You know, thank God there is 988, right?
36:09
Because not only can you call them, you can text them. They're on 24-7.
36:14
They speak Spanish. There are 988 lines now in Canada.
36:19
If you visit our website, there is a findahelpline.org where you can click on
36:25
that link and anywhere in the world, you can find somebody that can help you, right?
36:31
20 years ago, these types of resources weren't available.
36:35
And I loved how vulnerable Susie was in that episode.
36:39
You know, talking about her own mental health struggles and,
36:42
you know, just getting through day to day and shout out to her.
36:47
She does have a podcast, you know, Check the show notes, all her information's
36:51
out there. You can also check our website. Big props to her. She is quite a bit younger than I am.
36:59
But getting out there and making a difference and having resources like that
37:04
for any age group, it's women supporting women, supporting mental health.
37:13
She's like us. We want to normalize these conversations. We want to get these
37:17
stories out. You're not alone. You really aren't. You would be amazed how many people are out there suffering
37:22
from some type of mental health issue.
37:26
And the more you share, the more you're going to help somebody else that's going
37:30
through that. Yeah. I had chills for you in that episode.
37:34
I was like, wow, you're getting to talk to... It's almost like putting a face
37:39
to something. Yeah. Yeah. Realizing that they're humans. They're human beings. They're the same as we
37:44
are. So, yeah. And I don't know.
37:48
I just think it's cool. I mean, we've had a really great season.
37:50
I'm looking forward to the future and what could possibly happen next because
37:55
I don't think I can even... I couldn't have imagined that we would be where we are now.
37:58
Right. I can't imagine where we will be as we continue.
38:02
So, I'm looking forward to the future. And like I said, I'm so blessed that I get to do this with you.
38:08
You know we feed off of each off of
38:11
each other we ask poignant questions we laugh
38:15
and you know we we're human
38:18
and we like i
38:21
said i don't know what the future holds also i know is that
38:24
we're booked up like crazy people that want
38:27
to be on the podcast i love you all believe me i'm
38:29
trying still need a personal assistant to help
38:32
with this never thought i would be asking for that but
38:36
you know our our firm is you know working
38:39
to get us on to some big name
38:42
shows and we are also working on our okay dirty skills just passed out i think
38:49
but we are also working on getting some of our dream guests on you know persistence
38:55
does pay off so someday you may hear like mel robbins or Gretchen Rubin or Jay Shetty on this.
39:03
You know, there's a lot of people out there that also suffer through mental
39:08
health issues and getting those stories out help people realize that they're really not alone.
39:14
So it's not just the celebrities or public figures.
39:18
It could be Joey down the street. It could be your mom.
39:22
It could be your dad. It could be a brother, sister, or cousin. you know.
39:26
Let's normalize these conversations yeah we're all in this life we are,
39:33
thank you thank you bye y'all thank you so much for listening to this episode
