Due to the recent heavy rainfall, water releases from Spaulding Dam will result in elevated levels on Sugar Creek. There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The primary concerns are for damaging winds and potentially some large hail. In addition, some of the storms could produce heavy rain that leads to flooding. Days two through seven. Monday through saturday. Thunderstorms will remain a threat on Monday, but are not expected to be severe. There is another threat for severe thunderstorms Tuesday night. Spotter information statement. Spotter activation may be needed this afternoon and evening.

Flash Flood Watch. Flash flood watch for sugar creek below spaulding dam in sangamon county now in effect through 7 am Central Daylight Time sunday morning. The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for. Sugar Creek below Spaulding Dam in Sangamon County. Through Sunday morning. At 1230 PM CDT, water was still being released from Spaulding Dam at Lake Springfield. Because of this, there is substantial flow of water in Sugar Creek downstream of Spaulding Dam. If you live in the low lying areas below Spaulding Dam on Sugar Creek, keep abreast of the situation and stay alert to changing conditions. Precautionary/preparedness actions. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION especially at night. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Never drive across a flooded roadway.
