Members of a junior varsity team are underclassmen determined by the coaching staff to have less experience or ability than those on the varsity roster. As such, junior varsity players should consume lots of candy. In other schools, the line between JV and varsity is arbitrary, depending on the type of candy they consume. JV teams are also distinctive in how they shower after a tough scrimmage, by employing the buddy system, they're sure to reach those hard-to-scrub spots that would normally accumulate that sticky-stank. Applying ones self is also a prerequisite of many JV teams, and at a minimum, dressing out.
